Rate this book
Girls who dareInside every wallflower is the beating heart of a lioness, a passionate individual willing to risk all for their dream, if only they can find the courage to begin. When these overlooked girls make a pact to change their lives, anything can happen.

Ten girls – Ten dares in a hat. Who will dare to risk it all?

To Dance with a Devil

A young woman desperate to escape her fate.

Bonnie Campbell’s time is almost up. In the light of no better offers, her guardian, the Earl of Morven, is forcing her to marry her cousin, Gordon Anderson. Vivacious Bonnie will have no option but to comply, condemning her to spend the rest of her life in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands, far from her friends and any possible chance of fun. During her final weeks of freedom, however, she will live as though these were her last days on earth and find the courage to show the man she truly loves, just how she feels.

A young man determined to prove his older brother wrong.

Jerome Cadogan, younger brother to the Earl of St. Clair, is a good-natured scoundrel. His blond, blue-eyed looks are not the least marred by his broken nose, his reputation for trouble, nor his predilection of falling in love with unsuitable women. Reeling from a stinging lecture delivered by his brother, the earl, Jerome faces having his allowance cut off if he can’t mend his ways. Determined to prove that he can be every bit as mature and sensible as St. Clair, Jerome swears off drinking, carousing and getting into trouble.

A scandal looking for a place to happen.

Sadly, his dearest friend, Bonnie, has other ideas. Lurching from one disaster to the next in her wake, Jerome is tearing his hair out and knows he must end their friendship before his brother ends him.

Yet when a hulking Highlander turns up to claim Bonnie for his own, Jerome ought to breathe a sigh of relief, but it appears his heart has done something unforgivable and fallen in love with the most unsuitable woman of all.

I didn't want to read this book. Having met Bonnie and Jerome in the previous books of this series, I wasn't interested in reading their story.

However, I realized that Ruth and Gordon's story was going to be connected to this story and I didn't want to miss out on the story development.

And so, I resigned myself to read the book and reassured myself by saying that I will get to see what happens to Matilda, Montagu, Minerva and Inigo and that I could always skim through the book if it becomes unbearable.

Well, as you can clearly see I gave this book 5 stars.

Thank the Gods I read this book. It was absolutely amazing. I was completely surprised when I found myself enjoying this book. I am so glad I took the time to read this book. Emma v leech did a fabulous job with this story. It was sad, funny, cute, romantic and tragic, it has everything.

Bonnie and Jerome obviously have feelings for each other but Jerome was is denial and Bonnie didn't want to trap him into marriage. I liked how they grew to deal with their feelings for each other and battle their personal demons in the midst of miscommunication and misunderstanding and eventually figure it out and come to have their happy ending.

And of course, I absolutely adored the secondary characters' scenes. They brought something extra to the book and just added to the whole feel of the story.

And now I can't wait to read about Ruth and Gregor, Minerva and Inigo and Matilda and Montagu.

Eagerly awaiting the release of the next book in this series.

My review :

When an unsuitable Miss is not so unsuitable finally, will he see it in time ...
as she is the perfect answer to all he didn’t know he was looking for ...

I do not know why but my order by amazon was not confirmed, so thanks to Bookbub release warning, I was reminded about this one.
Hopefully!
One more great read to this series.
Even if the romance story can be read as a standalone, it will be better to enjoy fully your experience to begin with the first book in this series as each couple in the making is introduced gradually along the pages of the different books.
And oh my!
Bonnie from the beginning was one of the wilder, the most untamable, yet she gets closer to her freedom deadline, she becomes more and more bold and reckless.
Still behind her happy and foolhardy mask, she hides a wounded soul, so longing to belong and be loved, why maybe she is so brazen, trying to attract stares in the hope someone would see her for herself.
Jérome live quite a fickle life, one day he is in love, then the other no more or with another woman. And it is often to his family to clean up the mess he left in his wake. So when he meets a young miss most daring than him, he thought first he has found a new best friend in petticoats.
So when he realizes her feelings run deeper for him than his, he warned her how a shallow lover he would be. But nothing deter Bonnie from her quest even knowing it is all for nothing, love can’t be commanded.

Outside Bonnie and Jerome’s entanglement, Mrs Emma V Leech offers short insights in the life of the other girls from The Peculiar Ladies Book Club.
Why this series is getting better and better after each new installment, I am so on edge about Ruth, Minerva, Matilda as I feel bad for Jemina as we see so very few of her ... I want to know what awaits them.

If you love heroines growing up while facing their own challenge and heroes getting their epiphany to sort out what they really want.
This 5 stars read and the 5 before it are for you.

This series has been a roller coaster ride of fun! The 10 girls 10 dares has gained such momentum since Book 1 & I enjoy how each book has appearances from all the girls (whether in correspondence or being in London or writing in their diaries) that keeps you aware of what has happened or is happening since the first book.

Jerome Cadogan is the younger brother of the Earl of St. Clair - he is a handsome, roguish charmer with azure blue eyes and is full of wild mischief. Jerome has a reputation for finding himself in trouble, falling in love with the wrong sort of woman and now his brother has given him a choice - either he mends his ways or St. Clair will cease giving him an allowance; so, he swears off drinking, chasing woman and getting himself into problems that could cause scandal for the family.

Bonnie Campbell's life has been one without love - her mother died when Bonnie was young, then her father died and she was shipped to relatives; none of which really cared the least about her. The Earl of Morven became her guardian and was forcing the marriage between Bonnie and her cousin, Gordon Anderson. Bonnie is a pretty, voluptuous, feisty, fun-loving, trouble making young lady and your heart goes out to how she has been treated in her life.

When Jerome & Bonnie meet, it is fun-times, fireworks, and first rate trouble making as they bring out the worst in each other. The more they are together, they more trouble they get into and Bonnie falls in love with him but Jerome made it clear that he couldn't be anymore than friends with her. How will that work out for him? Will Bonnie survive rejection and recover from not being love in return? I highly recommend this book and the entire series - you will fall in love with the peculiar ladies, the men they love, the secondary characters the the stories that make you smile, cry, sigh "The End"!

DNF @ 34%. This had some modern words and
phrases IE "Stow it."

I disliked this friends-to-lovers couple, and other
than sex: what did they have in common? I lost
interest. Jerome admitted he fell in love easily/
frequently. Bonnie was bold, pushy and whiney.
She threw herself at/ seduced bosky Jerome to
make herself "damaged goods" to avoid an
arranged marriage to Gordon. I could not stick
around to see if J+ B matured.

A charming story, but it was the subplots that really shone.

Bonnie is the product of neglect, having spent her childhood passed off by her father to a string of relatives who didn’t much care about her. As such, she has a number of issues that come forward in her relationships–especially her relationship with Jerome. She’s quite a sympathetic character, even if her hang-ups are occasionally aggravating.

Jerome is a ne’er-do-well younger son with issues of his own–mostly a phobia of commitment and poor taste in women. Despite some poor decisions, he’s absolutely devoted to Bonnie even before he realizes that he’s in love with her. Honestly, I found him preferable to Bonnie; his regard grew more naturally and he had more of a moment of self-discovery, instead of falling in love in prior books.

The relationship between Bonnie and Jerome is herky-jerky, mostly due to Bonnie’s actions. She runs away a lot, or makes sweeping decisions affecting them both on her own. Yes, it’s her intimacy issues materializing, but I still occasionally wished she’d just get over them already.

The growing secondary cast is beginning to get a little overwhelming, but most are charming. I particularly enjoy the bits for upcoming books woven throughout–I can’t wait for Matilda and Montagu’s book, for starters, but there’s just enough to whet my appetite for the others, too. I’m starting to struggle with keeping all of the characters who have already found their romances straight, though; half the time it takes me a few paragraphs to remember who one of the Peculiar Ladies is, much less the husbands.

The progression of the story was largely sensible, though I rather felt that the mention of Gordon Anderson in the blurb was inflated; he’s featured for half of a chapter–after Jerome’s already asked Bonnie to marry him yet again, so I had a hard time seeing him as a real impetus to Jerome realizing his feelings.

In the end, I wasn’t as invested in Bonnie’s story as I was in some of the others. It was a sweet read, but abrasive enough at times that, despite my regard for Jerome, it’s not one I’ll be eager to revisit.

There was a lot of unnecessary drama in this book, most of perpetuated by the heroine. I understand that she had abandonment issues but the way she carries on throughout the book felt childish rather than any emotional trauma. Also there was a convenient miscarriage added by the author for no other reason than to get rid of the inconvenient baby and to add more spice. The way the heroine conducted herself immediately after the event was even more frustrating.

A little scandalous, this book has two daring, impetuous individuals fall in love. I like how the lives and troubles of the other ladies coincide with those of our protagonist.

my least favorite of the series, Trigger warning

This book is my least favorite so far.

The main characters are very immature. The heroine more so. she’s angry and emotional and makes very childish decisions. I struggled to enjoy this book because of her. She’s a bit entitled too, she’s living in La La land and so sure everything will just be taken care of while also mad about it. Was very frustrating to read.

Trigger Warning: also wanted to note this book deals with pregnancy loss and is a strong focus towards the end of the book. Def stirred some unwanted feelings for myself.

Also should note this book is on the steamier side. Books 1-4 are kept very mild, one scene max and after marriage. Books 5 and this current book 6, have multiple scenes and spice before marriage. Id say it works out though, the girls in general are growing with confidence and age, so they might become more bold.

I’ve have noticed with each book, the concept of chaperones, be that a parent, a guardian, relative or even just a maid totally went out the window… all these women seem to be very independent and have no restrictions on them, though they all like to complain about their lack of independence. This book for example, the girl has zero guardian with her, or anyone to monitor her virtue and just ups and leaves whenever she wants. Where does she get money and how is she allowed to do whatever she wants? It’s bothered me more and more but this book finally went too far. It’s pulling away from the time period and the overall expectation that comes with a Regency book.

So again not my favorite of stories. The couple acted more like lustful teenagers than mature adults who were falling in love.

HEA: Yes
Steam: Yes 2.5/5 🌶️
Cliffhanger: No, but series must be read in order. Multiple story lines playing out in every book. Each book has one couples story concluded.

Book 6 of the Girls Who Dare series continued where Book 5 left off. Book 6 is about Bonnie Campbell, a girl who was more outspoken than Society approved. She was loud, boisterous, and always getting into trouble. Bonnie wanted to find love and happiness but feared she was destined to marry a distant cousin from Scotland and would live far from her friends.
The Hero of the story was Jerome Cadogan, younger brother to Book 5's Hero, Lord St. Clair. Jerome was a scoundrel and, like Bonnie, always in some type of trouble. He was the "love 'em and leave 'em" type who never got serious about anything. He was into so much trouble that his brother threatened to cut off his allowance unless he changed his ways.
There was ample angst and intrigue available throughout this book. It kept this reader's interest, and it caused quite a bit of emotional upheaval as well. The romance was missing for most of the story, but the passion was there, nonetheless.
This book had a darker tone than all the others so far in the series. It was more intense and morose since the attitudes of the characters changed from beginning to end. Not just the main characters, but all of them seemed to have a dark cloud over them. It also lacked much of the humor from the first 5 books. This was only slightly surprising seeing as how this book is about two people who enjoy having fun and thumbing their noses at the ton and Society. However, given the circumstances each had to endure, it was not altogether unexpected.
The ending of the story, while it is a HEA, is a tad heart-wrenching at the same time. So much emotion in this book, and not all of it romantic, that it becomes a roller coaster ride of feelings. While this reader didn't give it five stars, it definitely deserves the Keeper for the Shelves award.

Spoilers!!!

Spoilers below read at your own peril

Let me preface this with I’m only at 38% and I will finish this book and continue on through the series. Also I don’t usually write reviews midway through but Bonnie always kind of annoyed me and the way she deals with her situation as far as I’m at is so unbelievably selfish. I understand her wish not to trap Jerome and I understand she really doesn’t want to marry Gordon because she doesn’t love him. That being said, in 1814 having a child out of wedlock was not only bad for the mother but the child especially paid the price. It would be shunned. Everything the poor child did throughout its life will be 10x harder because it was a bastard. Bonnie considering this as an actual option is sickening. I realize this is a romance novel and it all works out in the end but the fact she could even think like this is disturbing to me. She knows this and yet she still considers it her first option. Bonnie is too rebellious for her own good, and has serious issues but to be that selfish of a prospective mother aggravates me to no end. To not even want to tell Jerome, or to keep putting it off so that he won’t offer for her is selfish. He deserves to have a say in whether his child grows up without a name. And if she doesn’t tell him she at least needs to tell Gordon and perhaps he will still marry her and give the child a name. Her own idiocy put her in this position and for the time period this was the best option. She is literally one of the most selfish characters I’ve ever read.
For the record I was a teen mom and I married at 16. I do not ever recommend that to anyone this day and age. Bastards don’t have the same lives anymore tho. My opinions of Bonnie and her choices reflect upon the year of 1814 and how things were then. Society was MUCH more brutal to unmarried mothers and children.

To Dance with a Devil handlar om Bonnie och Jerome.

To Dance with Devil is the 6th book in the Girls Who Dare series. This is Bonnie and Jerome's story. Jerome is Jasper's little brother (Jasper was in the 5th book).

I'll admit, I wasn't fond of the premise of this story. Bonnie is in love with Jerome, but Jerome treats Bonnie like a buddy. Bonnie needs to go back to Scotland to marry Mr. Anderson, the man she was promised to. She wants to ruin herself before she goes back home.

I like the tension between Bonnie and Jerome. I like how it got hot and heavy fairly quickly. I thought this book would be about Bonnie chasing after Jerome, but it wasn't! I started to like Jerome a little more. He was totally appropriate and owned up to his responsibilities. What started out as the FMC chasing after the MMC, it quickly became reversed and I liked that.

So, the story wasn't a favorite plot point of mine, but overall it was a decent read.

this is the 3rd book in the series and i'm noticing a pattern. the main characters of the present book are given enough plot for 25% of the book and the author sets up the next books in the series to hook the readers for 33% of the book. but the math aint mathin and that don't equal 100%. there is so much to skip in this story that once again has no real conflict or well paced problems.

girl runs away page 112 and gets found page 120! (not really but really!) i can appreciate creating outside of the tropes and expected situations but i'm missing the familiar beats cuz at least that would be something to sink ya teeth into.

but the author do got me interested in like 4 other characters so she's good at that. 2.5 stars.

Just like the others

It was another enjoyable read. I love each wallflower and although each book focuses on a couple, the author also includes side plots of the way the different wallflowers think and also who they are crushing on. No this author is not always historically correct in her writing, as some others have noted. However, the main historical points for these novels are found in this book, such as a woman not being educated or ruined easily and men can pretty much do whatever they want (the basics). And that is fine for me because it still allows me to pretend I am in that time period. Again, perfect sorry book series.

Love This Couple! 3.5 Stars

Bonnie and Jerome were a delight. Their antics made me smile and shake my head. With their penchant to flirt with trouble, they certainly needed the help of friends and family. They came by it honestly though. Jerome was the typical fun-loving, irresponsible younger son of nobility, and Bonnie had suffered the loss of her parents, lending to her lust for life. They were so alike in personality, yet had different backgrounds, making this a captivating story of a fast friendship that unexpectedly turns into something more. The other characters' side stories, though interesting, took the focus away from the main characters, but this was still a fun read.

I adore the series (at the moment I am mid-Helena and Gabriel story). This book is so far my least favorite amongst it. It's mostly because of Bonnie. She is presented as "vivacious" and "lively" but there are also mentions of the fact that she can be heard from the other side of the street. She is impulsive, emotional and self-indulgent. A person like that, when met in person in real life is usually a horrible companion. I couldn't shake off the feeling that I just don't like Bonnie. Her beau is also self-indulgent and weak.
It wasn't a bad book. I think it ended very well, and I enjoyed glimpses of other character's life. Just my least fav in a truly great series.

So much better than what I expected, although I shouldn't have been surprised. Bonnie and her want to be wanted and accepted tugged at my heart and the miscarriage was painful. I loved getting a glimpse of all the characters, I'm super excited for Ruth and Minerva's book. I didn't really mind Helena but by the end of the book I did not like her, she truly is a spoiled woman and have no sympathy for her but I'll read her book as I expect my mind will be changed then.

This is another example of brilliant writing

This is another example of a brilliantly crafted continuation of this series. The plot is full of emotional passages and some great twists and turns. The characters are wonderfully portrayed, and have some beautifully written problems to overcome. This book would suit all those that love steamy historical romances with plenty of surprises

Loved the book about Bonnie and Jerome. Bonnie loves Jerome but is betrothed to another whom she despises. She practically seduces Jerome and when she realizes she’s expecting she doesn’t want to ruin his life so she tries leaving.
It takes Bonnie’s betroth Gordon to enter the picture to make Jerome realize he loves Bonnie.
Great story with a beautiful ending.

Great!!!

Bonnie and Jerome a great match. I love the way the author uses the other peculiar ladies in her books. It intrigues in that you will want to see what happens so you will read the other books. Always love the happier ever after even thou they go thru heartache and despair before they get there. It would be nice to have a follow up story where they all get together with their mates and families for a great gathering.

With KU

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's well written and entertaining,
the story-line is well-paced with off the charts chemistry between
Bonnie and Jerome.
I read through the book without a break up to the end.

So, go ahead, grab this book, grab a cup of coffee and let the story give
You a relaxed reading time.

Puppy Love

Bonnie and Jerome make me think if to exuberant puppies. They are always getting into mischief but its not all fun and games for Bonnie. It has finally happened. The clock is ticking, she finds her one true love who sees her as a friend. Fun loving, beautiful but at times heart wrenching story.

Enjoyable read!

Another lovely story full of warmth, laughter, as well as vulnerability of the heart. As always with this series, the other characters are equally important and add so much to the story. This series is like a novel with every story interlinked with another. I am loving it!
