Reading this book was like having a private therapy session, all inside your head. Dr Tim Cantopher went straight to the point on what anxiety is, the different kinds, and available treatments to explore. It was like having a crash course on Anxiety101, condensed into a book with doable suggestions to understand and how to actively live without having your anxiety run your life. What I loved most about the book was how optimistic and not judgmental it was, he even started by saying "first, it's not your fault".

Having a positive take on anxiety and practicing hands-on tips on what you or people you know who are afflicted with anxiety could do were the key takeaways you could benefit from reading this. I'd say the book was very general on the different types of anxiety disorders and for more in-depth explanation, you probably need to explore other books or materials, but I think this book did a fair job in simplifying the subject and focused more on guiding readers on the key steps of what to do and how to seek help.

Reading this book makes you feel like talking to Tim Cantopher. I really like the tone he uses here, it sounds kind, like he's just assuring you that you don't need to fight against anxiety, but instead you need to persevere in therapy or getting the help that you need.

I've been having anxiety issues my whole life but in recent years it's getting worse. From not understanding how someone can end up being a hikkikomori (a recluse), I now have become what I call a semi-hikkikomori. The idea of working outside now scares me. I've been having problem keeping friends. And have never been in a relationship despite wanting it (I've been rejected left and right, but I suppose, who wants someone who's awkward and weird - my anxiety just makes me very undesirable).

So I truly appreciate this book, even though it touches only briefly on what anxiety is and how to manage it. Cantopher keeps on encouraging those afflicted by anxiety problems to seek professional help and to do relaxation and mindfulness activities. While I can get on board with doing the latter, seeking help outside is still an issue so I will resort first to a workbook instead (surprisingly, I ordered the very workbook he mentioned before I started reading the book!) and then hopefully will be able to find help from a professional.

This book not only talks about what anxiety is and gives examples, it tells you strategies and treatments you can get to get your anxiety to a normal level. The treatments include somewhat detailed explanation of medications you might need as well. I find myself learning a lot from the book despite it being so short.

Through his book, Dr. Tim Cantopher offers valuable insights into the world of anxiety. With a friendly approach, empathy, structure, and clarity, he walks you through the main root causes of anxiety and the layerings behind it. In addition, he shares - as a loving father would do with his children, a wide range of strategies and first steps you can take in overcoming anxiety and fostering a healthier and happier mindset.

His advice is based on research evidence and his own expertise as a psychiatrist.

If you are looking to better understand what anxiety is, how you can approach it, or how you can support those around you who are struggling with anxious thoughts, I warmly recommend reading this book!

I like the books in this series "Invest in yourself" but this is the worst of the series book for me. I didn't write anything down for myself. It's possible that I'm not the audience for it, because my fear is not about this basic fear of life. I had no assumption, although I hoped that maybe I would learn something interesting about people and the consciousness of experiencing life. Well, I am not impressed with this book.
