This is a great book! It tells about the childhood of Lou Gehrig, one of the greatest Yankee baseball players! Even though he was a great baseball player when he got older, he wasn’t always! He wasn’t always treated nice by others but still turned out to be an amazing person!

This was a good book. It tells about Lou Gehrig's childhood from elementary school through high school. In the Christmas of 1908 Lou got a baseball glove. His parents did not know much about baseball so they actually got the glove for the wrong hand. Everyday Louie would go play baseball in a lot with his friends. They played everyday until it got dark. Louie got so good he played on his school team when he was in elementary school. Which was grades ahead of him. In high school his team became the New York state champions. So next they played the Illinois state champions at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Lou went to Commerce High School. They won they game because Louie came in the clutch with a grand slam in the top of the 9th inning. This was a good book but it needs more description about his childhood. When he was young he wanted to play baseball. And one Christmas when he got a catcher's mitt for Christmas he said he wanted to go out and play baseball. Some of his friends played baseball a lot, so he joined them. Every afternoon he went and played baseball. And when he was older he won the New York High School championship in baseball. And then he was going to go to another championship and he won that one. Then he played another game and he scored 4 home runs in 4 tries. That was the best baseball they've ever had.

I have never found a book from the Childhood of Famous Americans that I did not enjoy reading. I have read a lot of them in my lifetime and love them.

This was a great book about being diligent and plugging away and then becoming great. I liked it.
