THE SEVENTH STRAND. THE ULITIMATE TRUTH. THE FINAL BATTLE. After the Chop Shop bloodbath, Brawley goes full power mage and vows to destroy his enemies. The end is here. Who will become Brawley’s seventh wife? What arcane secrets reside within The Tome of Seven Strands? What sinister truth lurks behind Janusian’s Super Lattice? Could Brawley be more than a power mage? This epic series finale answers all questions, settles all scores, and pits Brawley against the Tiger Mage in the ultimate power mage versus power mage in a duel to the death… and beyond. This explosive series contains explicit scenes, graphic violence, a harem of gorgeous women who wreak serious havoc with their minds, and a West Texas bull rider who’s tougher than a nickel steak.
I am on vacation now. Review to follow when I return home.
Back from vacation. I am a little sad this series is over. Everything comes to a head in this book. Brawley opens up his final strand and we find out all the secrets that have been hidden. I wish there could have been more fun in this book, but since everything was coming to a conclusion, I can see how that wouldn't fit into the story. Overall a very good series.
All's well that ends well, especially after it drags to that ending I liked, and was aggravated by this book in equal measure. I'm not sure if I want to recount everything that made me want to quit, or this review woulds be half as long as the book. Mostly, it was scenes meant to crank up the tension went on way too long and broke the tension and my desire to keep reading. Secondly, the "Ah shucks- good ole' boy" charm started to fade into to FOX-NEWS bullshit neo conservatism, but maybe I was reading it wrong.
Great book and a strong ending to easily the best series in this sub genre that I have read so far.
In this series Hondo Jinx has walked the tight rope of balance between engaging fantasy story and harem/erotic fiction. The result is a series of books that allow us as readers to indulge in some more adult oriented content without having to sacrifice story in the process.
As always my usual caveat applies, in that these stories are only for people who are comfortable with adult situations and harem fantasies. For people not phased by that though, or better yet for people who see the fun side of such a genre, you really need to read these books.
It's a good book, but all too often the characters in the book choose to be utterly idiotic in their decision making. Also why does his surrogate mother manage to die so easily? She's obviously at least semi competent having survived as long as she has. Brawley basically has zero reaction to her death and apparently her soul is in eternal torment but who actually cares. Etc etc etc
What a terrible ending to a series. The author seems to be trying way too hard to make some kind of epic ending to a work of love he desperately does not want to let go of. It drags on and on and on while at the same time abbreviating scenes I wanted to see. The worst is the employment of every single tired, hated trope I despise. It was drawing out so bad I started skimming through the end.
A good ending to the series, it left some info unexplained but it may mean a possibility to make it back. The big revelations weren't as big as I thought they would, it was pretty obvious what was going on from a couple books back.
This is one hell of a ride, but our 8 seconds are up
Hondo does one heck of a job to drag you right into the story and gets you excited about what happens next. This brings the tale to an end and I will sorely miss reading about the Cowboy Brawley and his bonded ‘wives’. The out of the box solution to beating the Tiger Mage has certainly left Brawley in an odd position, and finally getting his hat back was more emotional than I expected. I would have liked more of an epilogue of his life about a year into the future as I couldn’t imagine the hell he would be going through (so much for happy endings). One of my favourite series has ended which makes me sad, but I am eager to find out what Hondo has in store for me next.
I will be honest and say that the conclusion happened faster than I was expecting. There was a lot of buildup and it then finally all just went down and a few pages later the book was over. The final battle was alright with no complaints. Biggest gripe is, and probably always will be, no extended epilogue. I always appreciate getting into their life a bit more. Spoilers....
Other resolution I wish could occur would be him finding a way to access the Eternal Plane Janusian talked about and bring Clarissa back. Also what happened to Janusians family in Sanctuary? We are just left to assume they stay there for the rest of time and never cause Brawley issues?
Brawley moves into the endgame with the Tiger Mage. He has more power, a lot of power, but less than the Tiger mage. How will he beat someone more powerful than he is? He will have to look deep within himself. I like the action, humor, and romance. How will he keep his beautiful wives and other loved ones safe. The crescendo of action and suspense builds and builds to the end which terminates on a high note. I am sad to see the end of the series, as it has been a favorite
I will miss Brawley and his family and friends, but if it had to end, it ended with a wild ride to equal the biggest bull on steroids!
The fight scenes both minor and major had me riveted as well as the love scenes!
My one regret with this ending is we may never find out if the Tiger Mage's oldest son and the other family members will try to get revenge, but maybe Hondo will start a sequel with answers, but if not I still enjoyed this final book to the fullest!
This really should have stayed in the Notes app. Reading it feels like having a bad drug trip while talking to your crazed uncle at a Thanksgiving dinner. This series becomes progressively more unhinged as it goes on, and not in a good way. What started out as a fun and self-aware urban fantasy romp is now some kind of deranged self-insert fanfiction that seems hyper-specifically catered to what the author wants, rather than what his readers want. I’m aware that most, if not all urban fantasy books are wish fulfillment in one way or another, especially when the protagonist has multiple love interests — but everything is so heavy-handed for no reason here. I don’t know, judging by the average rating for this book, maybe that doesn’t seem apparent to other people. During my first read-through, I didn’t pick up on it. However, after I saw a review mentioning how it’s a thinly-veiled political allegory, it became increasingly obvious to me that it completely lacks the spirit of its prequels. I don’t mind if authors want to include politics, but here it seems to take precedence over trying to actually tell a satisfying story. I suppose it’s competently written and well-paced, but what’s the use of that when it’s transcended the realms of “enjoyable trash” and become actual trash?
This sixth installment was quite the story. The power mage and the tiger mage face off af each one tries to fulfill the prophecy. Who will win? How can the beginner power mage over come the years of experience the tiger mage has? What does the book say? What is the third artifact? Who will become the seventh wife?
It is all wrapped up nicely by the end. Very good conclusion to an excellent series of stories. Read it, you won't regret it.
Here at the climax of the series, our indomitable cowboy proves just how indomitable he is. Bull-headed in battle (no, really) and willing to die if need be in order to save everything he holds dear. Great stuff: a fantastic and appropriate ending to a great and fantastic series.
PS: thanks for not screwing with Tom Tinkerbell at the end. That would have been too much.
So the adventures of Brawley come to an end! Its been an exciting read with some likeable chatachters and plenty of action in both sense of the word. One question is what happened to he Tiger Mages family? Hono writes well and keeps the series short which keeps it fresh, looking forward to the next!
What a GREAT ending to a GREAT story! It starts off were book 5 ends and gets right to it. The book has a nice build up to the action packed ending. When that's all over Mr Jinx gives us a nice warm epilogue to tie everything up. I can't wait to see what this author comes out with next. Keep up the good work sir!
I really enjoyed the way the whole series unfolded, and being from Texas, and living five years in West Texas, the characters and country felt authentic to me. If you haven’t read anything from Hondo before, pick up the first book in this series, Power Mage, and get ready to spent a lot of time reading!
What a way to wrap up the series! My son and I both read the entire series and discussed each book as we went! We loved the characters, the different situations Brawley got himself into (and out of) and the great Texas feeling. We hated the bad guys and loved the good guys! Thanks for sharing your talent!!!
Jinx writes well and has a good editing team. The sex is Literotica strong, but fits the storyline. I expected the ending, but was pleased by the final battle twists. One plot hole, the bad guy's hidden family of psychotics, leaves a nice opening for a Power Mage 7...
The power mage series, all six books, are some of the best written and exciting books I have read on along time. The moral of the series stays the same throughout the series, do what you know to be right regardless of the consequences. This series is a must read for everyone who likes magic and fast action.
Hondo wrote a fun series with the Power Mage. Plenty of adventure, action, traveling, fun, sex and just being a modern cowboy just trying to find his way as the most powerful Mage in the world. Looking forward to his next series. And kind of sad to see this one end..
After the cliffhanger of the last book I was really looking for this one. It got off yo a great beginning and then things started falling apart. I started looking for the end but about that time Hondo Jinx kicked the story into overdrive! The storyline stayed in high gear all the way to the end! Another very satisfying story told by a true master!
That was one he'll of a ride. I don't know what's next for Hondo but this story was andover told. And the conclusion was pitch perfect. I really enjoyed Brawley and regret we didn't get to know the rest of the wives. Great story.
Hondo did a great job with this series and this final book, well it's as fine as frog hair! There's lovin', suspense, action and a great climactic battle with one heck of a twist! Read this series! You're going to enjoy it!
A fantastic end to a great series. Easy to read, a bit silly at times, but definitely in a good way. This is the second of this author's series' that I've read, and I'm already looking forward to the next one!
GameLit light, harem adult urban fantasy Enjoyed. Thanks for the ride, Hondo -- all 8 seconds plus. Imaging having to (literally) ride herd on all the kids. Oh, my. Recommended.
I chose this books for the character hates the story was very different and unique i would recomend this book to everyone who likes magic and technology this book was written well can wait for more. books from this author
At the end it feels a bit rushed. Like the author was trying to make sure that he got everything in and didn't have to write another book but other the that I have no other complaint. I really like the end tho
Every installment in this series was a great read, but volume 6 was especially satisfying. Excellent ending to a thoroughly enjoyable series and group of characters. Great job, hats off to this author.
This final installment of Power Mage was worth the wait! The story drew you in from the start, and took you on a rollercoaster ride. I'm looking forward to what else you have in mind for us, Mr Jinx.
It was a good book. And a good series. And I really liked how he ended. Just seemed right to me. So start with the first book, and then read them all. I don't think you'll be disappointed !!!
