Over a 40-year career (so far), Jennifer Roberson has published four fantasy series, including the Sword-Dancer Saga, Chronicles of the Cheysuli, the Karavans universe, and urban fantasy series Blood & Bone. Other novels include historicals LADY OF THE GLEN, plus two Robin Hood novels, LADY OF THE FOREST, and LADY OF SHERWOOD.
New novels are percolating in her always-active imagination.
Hobbies include showing dogs, and creating mosaic and resin artwork and jewelry. She lives in Arizona with a collection of cats and Cardigan Welsh Corgis.
I always like this series. I always like the way that Tiger and Del play off each other and grow. I couldn't remember everything that was happening with Jamail, and Ajani, and so much of it, but I knew the basic outline of the story and I was looking forward to seeing it fall into place.
Just like I look forward to the next volume and then hopefully I'll find the last book so I can finish the series. I've never read the last one. But there's a lot of good play of what makes us who we are, what drives a person, and a lot of intense thematic information in general, and then just a good adventure story.
And I respect that the world is so much more complex than just north and south, and that there's more to explore and while I do wish for so many more things from the story because that's what happens when it's well written -Like let's learn more about the Vashni- it's not from a lack of good writing or a lack of completion so much as just "oh I know there's more to know what is it?" and so I can definitely always recommend these.
I love having the volume's put together like this, much cheaper that way too! It also made it very easy to see what a difference there was from start to finish. At the start of this volume, I was not happy with Del and very worried for her sanity... and then it changes and its Tiger's sanity in question. Then by the end of the volume we see how far they've come and how much stronger they are now as a team. They've settled their scores and are in it for the long haul now and I can't wait to read on!
Tiger has accompanied Del through out the Southren desert, now he must decide if he wants to follow her into the unfamiliar north. More adventures from the unlikely pair of Tiger and Del, and more challenges. Del must face her ugly past and Tiger must decide whether he wants to be a part of that or not. This installment tests both of these characters, pushing them to their limits and asking the impossible of them. Another good read for fantasy fans.
I loved the author's other work, Karavans, but I just couldn't love this one as well.
Eventually, I figured out why. It took the characters an entire page to say good morning. And that's all it was; the pace. It was abysmally slow. At least with Lord of the Rings, all I had to do was skip the first couple chapters and poof, I loved it. But this book stayed slow.
The Novels of Tiger and Del, Volume II Roberson, Jennifer del and tiger a great series compiled here, the story of a man and woman who adventure across the land trying to find peace through any means, its their connections that help them survive
