I'm a huge fan of Star Trek. Bought this one as soon I heard about it. A charming little book. Each letter of the alphabet is shown representing something from Star Trek, like V is for Vulcan and U is for Uhuru. The only one I disagreed with was "M is for Mirror Universe, where everyone is bad...even Mr. Spock. He wasn't exactly bad in that episode, and I've watched it a hundred times since it's my favorite.
E is for Enterprise . . . K is for Kirk . . . S is for Spock . . . T is for Transporter . . . U is for Uhura . . . .
This Little Golden Book is fun for every STAR TREK enthusiast, not just young alphabet-learning pre-readers. It’s clever [look for references to four shows in the STAR TREK universe] and many characters, although not mentioned by name, are included in the illustrations.
However, as with earlier books in this series, some of the illustrations more closely resemble unflattering caricatures. And there’s a strange disconnect between the cover and the text: C is for Captains on the cover [with a picture that includes Kirk, Janeway, and Sisco but Picard is oddly absent]; in the text, C is for Communicator. Nevertheless, there’s much to appreciate in the choices made for this STAR TREK-themed A-B-C book; fans of the series may find a smile or two within these pages.
This is the best idea for an introduction to the alphabet. This will most assuredly be on my gift lists for children! In hopes they shall love the original series as much as I do. I am biased--it's the one I grew up watching, however, it features up to Janeway. Amusingly, the cover says C is for Captains, however, in the book it is Communicator.
This book is a fun time - I watched most of the episodes of the original series quite a long time ago, so some of the stuff I remembered (like Gorn) and a lot of the stuff I did not. I was not too impressed with the selection of "insignia of Starfleet" for "I"...lol.
