So so

I like these books but this one had several typos that should have been fixed in editing, and some continuity errors. Four books in Late should be sure of her decision to go back to work, and Allen should understand by now what her working with the FBI entails, so at this point I think the focus of the books should be more on the case and less on the waffling as to whether she wants to keep doing this or not

Talk about nail-biting suspense again!! And plus I got some awesome bonus tips in case I'm ever kidnapped and tied up in a trailer park! Like seriously, I take notes on this stuff..... I'm ready to be a survivor and to not let my captor win. I started taking notes when I was reading Nancy Drew when I was like 1o. LOL This book was just another great tip book to help me along with my note-taking.
And it just like happened to be terrifying and tortuous with a sick physco.

This is still a great series and I love the author but this one was average. I think it deserves a 3.5 star rating if not a 4. The author for once did what I was hoping she would do and changed a certain scenario that I was starting to get really annoyed with in the other 3 books I have read from this series.

The MC is a 55 year old woman named Kate Wise. She retired from the FBI a few years back and then decided she missed it and wanted back in if they would have her. She knew she was older but she felt she was in the best shape of her life and could handle the pressures of the job. She is a 55 year old bad ass and I have grown so fond of this character. Her partner I am MEH about although I am okay with their friendship and partnership it's DeMarco's hot and cold attitude I am put off by. What I get so annoyed with (that didn't happen in this book and I am happy about) is that in each book the Director Duran will call Kate off the case and order her to come home because she hadn't wrapped the case up in 2 or 3 days. It's really stupid and a part of these books that annoy me so much. I was so happy that it didn't happen in this book. MAYBE (I hope) it won't happen again.

I am enjoying these mystery/thrillers so much. So happy I stumbled on them.

Well written edge of your seat type books. Quick reads. I’ve read 4 now and have already ordered the last 3 of the series. I am perplexed by all the typos in the books though. How does this happen? Also I am so confused how this one escaped the editing process- the back of the book states twin 16 year olds are abducted and that is not the storyline. One 15 year old is abducted. I kept wondering if this would change but it surely did not. ??? I usually don’t write reviews but this one had my head kind of spinning.

This wasn't as good as the previous books, but it was intense as usual.

The murder mystery in the story is always interesting, but I'm going to save you a LOT of time...

The protagonist, 55-year-old Kate Wise, is not happy being retired and she's pretty much the best FBI agent EVER! The FBI director brings her back to work to help solve a case and train a new agent who is going to be the next best FBI agent EVER!

She stands her boyfriend up, ignores her daughter and grandaughter, and heads back to work, but laments about it throughout the book. After working on the case for a matter of hours or maybe a day or so, her director pulls her from the case because she hasn't magically solved it, nevermind the fact that there are very few clues to work with.

She defies the director, and goes rogue. She misses clues, arrests a suspect, then second-guesses her arrest, finds the right suspect, but only after failing to properly follow safety procedures and getting her ass kicked (while constantly lamenting her age -55 OMG!) at every opportunity and whether she should just give in to retirement. Then, she cleverly solves the case.

The director calls her back to DC where she gets lambasted by the angry (wink-wink) director. She returns home where her boyfriend and daughter forgive her and understand that she simply MUST work because she's pretty much the best FBI agent EVER! Now you're ready for the next book, which is pretty much the same.

BLURB: Two parents are found dead, and their twin 16 year old daughters are missing. With the case quickly growing cold, the FBI, stumped, must summon their most brilliant agent: retired 55 year old FBI agent Kate Wise.

Was this a random murder? The work of a serial killer?

Can they find the girls in time?

And does Kate, haunted by her past, still have the ability to solve cases as she used to?

An action-packed thriller with heart-pounding suspense, IF SHE HID is book #4 in a riveting new series that will leave you turning pages late into the night.

I think what I liked most about this book was that it showed the vulnerable side of Kate. The case was a tough one, one that made them look at a girl in a different way and find out more than they wanted to about her, which of course was the root of what was wrong. Kate also had concerning news about her granddaughter and then there was the showdown with the bad guy. Kate didn’t end up on top in that area, in fact she had to be saved. At the end of the book you got the feeling Kate was going to be reexamining things in her life soon.

The plot is good, the characters are good. However thois book desperately needs a copy editor. While a spell checker may take care of some things, it doesn't help with missing words or incorrect words. The mistakes in this book are distracting.

I was given an advanced copy for an honest review and was in no way compensated for my thoughts.

Kate is a 50+ FBI Special Agent trying to juggle her personal life with her professional career and once again she is called to handle a case just when she had special plans to go away with Allen. But duty wins the day and she's off with her partner Agent DeMarco. There is a double homicide and a missing 15 year old girl. Did the girl murder her parents or is she a kidnapped victim? This is what Kate and DeMarco must figure out before anything else happens.

You can't argue with success and Mr. Pierce is successful. I freely admit that I am a huge fan of his work and feel confident you will be hooked him too...so go on and give him a try.

This book could have earned WAY more stars - but the grammar and spelling errors were terrible! I really am hooked on Kate Wise and her retiree adventures with the FBI- but seriously is NO ONE proofreading this author?!? The need to fix the simple grammatical errors and spelling mistakes was starting to take away from the storyline for me. It would have been a five star book if only it had been written with more care. I get the feeling that the author sped through the last few chapters and spelling, grammar etc went out the window.

Yet another great Kate Wise book! As always, I like how Kate's personal life is intertwined into the case. It gives just enough of a glimpse into her life to feel connected. This case is a couple who is murdered and their teenage daughter gets abducted. Deeper into the case, the story takes a twist and the killer is actually someone completely unknown or expected. I like how at the climax Kate had to work together with the teenager to get free. I can't wait to see how the next book goes!

If She Hid (Kate Wise #4) was a great read by Blake Pierce. There are two parents that are dead and their twin 16 year old daughters missing. The FBI is stumped as the case quickly goes cold, and bring in Kate Wise. They have many questions to answer but still need to find the girls in time. Kate is hoping to still be able to solve cases the way she has before. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Kate Wise is still one of my beloved detectives, but this book was not as good as the last. Maybe it was because I missed Demarco? She was rather absent in this book. However, the crime this time was different. She saved Mercy, and killed her abducter. A good 4th book to a series, but I wanted a bit more development. Adding in Melissa having a cancer scare was a bit of an uneeded and serious distraction that added almost nothing to the plot.

Kate Wise, semi-retired FBI agent returns to work on another case. This time it's a double murder and abduction. The volumes of this series are short and quick reads. I listened to this one and it is well done. It is nice to have a more mature main character in this series. (Although I'd love to be 55 again!)

Even though I don't always agree with Kate's choices, I'll still be following the series.

Brilliant

Blake Pierce has done it again. He has caught from the first page to the last. In this thriller/mystery you care about the people. That they make it to Mercy before they find her dead. The side story of Katy's Granddaughter. All in all a series I would read over and over again. I highly recommend this book and series.

Another Kate Wise mystery, as I read these books; I learn more about Kate. The author has soften her, she is no longer a bad ass. After learning that her grand baby is ill, she was willing to leave everything to be by her side. She solves the crimes and there is a happy ending with her granddaughter being cancer free.

Another Good Mystery~Thriller by Blake Pierce

I like the Kate Wise series! This author shows an older woman can still be a bad a** & is valuable as an agent because of her years of experience! And she has a boyfriend! Not all women get over the age of 50 & sit at home watching t.v.! Yet she's also a loving Mom & Gramma! Kudos Mr. Pierce!

Haven't read the first 3 in this series but will put them on my nook or Kindle. Love the main character, a middle aged woman who is an ex-FBI agent that they still call on for some cases. She is smart, strong and still caring. Story moved along and was an entertaining read. As I said, will be reading others in the series.

I listened to the audiobook and it would have been really nice if the narrator/editor took out all the repeating lines when the narrator said a line incorrectly. Hearing multiple sentences get started and then restarted was so distracting. Overall enjoyed the story, but there were so many repeated errors in narration.

Just finished reading this in two days ,it was absolutely amazing. I had expected Nick to be the killer but as usual the twist in the story was good enough to give it 4 stars.

Enjoyable read. Looking forward for more of Kate Wise series

Great book !

This book was great because of the characters. The storyline was good also. You really get in to Kate Wise's life. As usual with all Blake Pierce books, you can't put it down!

I listened to the audiobook….. idk what happened with this book but the audiobook had the reader making errors and they included that in the audiobook version. Not just one or two errors, but multiple. The only reason I’m giving this a 3 star is bc I liked the story and the series so far

Una buena continuación, pero como en anteriores entregas, le falta más desarrollo a la resolución del problema. La traducción que hicieron que está en Google Libros tiene muchos errores de ortografía y redacción

Fine, I was hooked! You happy? I started the series going okay a 55 year old FBI agent whose a grandma technically. Then with the kidnapped girls POV, I was invested in wanting to see her get out alive.

4.2 out of 5!

Listened to it on audio.

It was a decent listen. Had some trouble following along the story. I believe it was lack of concentration.

In summary, it was enjoyable but I personally don’t think I’ll ever reread it and at this point I am not sure if I will continue the series.

Continua la historia de Kate Wise, libro de suspenso que te mantiene intrigada por resolver el caso que tiene como apoyo al FBI, la historia familiar también se desarrolla a través de los libros. Me mantuvo entretenida en todo momento.

Gets you hooked

I love this series! The books keep you hooked, and I find myself saying just one more chapter pretty often. The twist and turns have you thinking about one outcome, and then a few pages you will be thinking something else will be the outcome.
