Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
After many a few boring cases, it's good to see something interesting! This volume had it all, Kaito kid, Black Organization, FBI AND two of my 2 new favorite characters! Akai being #1 of course, at this point I'm not sure if I still love Kudo the most because of him, you see I have a big crush on Akai.. The other would be Eisuke! I'm really intrested to know more about his past and his ties to the Black Organization. I don't think he's a bad guy, though. He might be related to Kir but definitely not one of them. But it's just a hunch. Well this volume was good for a change, I just checked the BO's appearances and luckily they're quite often between chapter 550 and 600! Yey! It's to be expected with Kir being held hostage. Speaking of which, her loyality to the black organization is quite impressive, why? You'll find out in this volume!
Die 3 1/2 Fälle waren wieder sehr abwechslungsreich. ❤️
THE PHANTOM THIEF’S DECEPTION AND A SINISTER MURDER Takeyori Oikawa enlists Kogoro to safeguard a priceless painting from the infamous Kaitou Kid, but the unveiling turns into a crime scene. Amid a blackout, the painting vanishes, and Oikawa’s father is found murdered. A cryptic letter from Kid hints at a hidden truth, but Conan sees through Oikawa’s desperate ploy to frame the elusive thief and confirms him as the true murderer.
A CLASSROOM MYSTERY: THE CODE OF NUMBERS Miss Kobayashi presents her students with a cryptic mental challenge, assigning numbers to six classmates. When they discover a puzzling set of dice markings, it’s up to them to decipher the pattern. With Conan called out so he will not solve it too fast, Haibara takes charge, guiding the class through logical deductions to unravel the hidden message behind the numbers.
A ROCKSTAR’S VANISHING ACT AND A CHILLING WITNESS A missing rockstar’s disappearance takes a grim turn when a young boy recounts a haunting sight—a man stuffing a body into a bag and tossing it from a bridge. Initially dismissed, the boy’s story gains credibility when the victim’s body is found floating in a river. With only fragmented clues—a dark car, a nail on the suspect’s arm, and an eerie glowing hammer—Conan, Ran, Kogoro, and Eisuke embark on a search for the bridge where the crime took place, racing to piece together the truth.
The first case was astonishing, because for once, Kaito Kid was not there to steal, but to prove his truth. It was fairly obvious that he was not related to the murder, but the way he helped Conan with the paper and glass trick showed his amity. The reveal - that the set comprised 3 pieces than 4 - was the most surprising bit of this case.
The next case - the disappearance of Miss Kobayashi - was absolutely awesome. Her plan to get the two students - Maria Higashio and Takuma Sakamoto included in the class was brilliant! I, too, was drawn into it.
The Giant Hammer case was good, but what was shocking was Eisuke's resemblance to Kir and his indirect questioning about her. Eisuke had been a bumbling idiot all this while; although I thought he could be brainy, I never suspected any relation with the Black Organization.
The next case, which is incomplete in this volume, has Eisuke getting Conan and Mouri on the trail of a murderer, who is possibly Vermouth. I'm left to wonder...

This volume opens the way you might want movie to open. With the main characters being talked about and then making a pretty grand entrance with expectations already set high. Detective Conan and Detective Richard Moore are being brought in to protect a picture from being stolen, and then right before the act....there is a murder and then the painting is stolen! This story is roughly half of the volume but I feel it was well worth the page-count. The next story is a short Junior Detectives mystery which I thought was cool and really lighthearted with a good reason for doing it. Short...but great! The next story revolves around a child witnessing a murder (well dead body) but giving very confusing details which are hard to follow and just seems to not make sense. It's a bit confusing of a story but that is on purpose I believe. The final story starts but seems to have a good amount left in it will most likely conclude in volume 54 of Case Closed!

Every edition that has a Kaito Kid case in it is a good edition. This is as well. A mysterious painting that kaito wants to steal? Then we follow the detective boys and lastly we get closer to the whole Rena Mizunashi storyline. Overall a pretty good edition
General Synopsis: As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻
DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.
Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.
Characters in this volume:
Personal Opinion: #1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!
Definite improvement over the last couple volumes and the Kaito Kid cases are always fun. Too many cases have hinged on freakin’ duffel bags lately, however, and when you’re binge reading it becomes super noticeable. Still a fun series and, as noted, the cases in this volume were improved over the last couple volumes.
