It is time for Kid Normal and his friends to beat the final boss in this delightful and fun last book of the Kid Normal series!

Knox is back and he is more evil than he was in the previous book. He is now truly desperate to make sure everyone mistrusts the heroes and he is doing a good job. Well, later on at least. In the beginning it was quite funny how desperately he tried to make people believe him, and how it did work... at least for a bit. His next plan was much more evil and it was a plan truly worth a supervillain, the last boss of this series. It not only affected those he wanted to affect, but also had the extra effect of affecting certain people which made his plan even grander.

It was all very exciting to read, how things went south, how the rebellion started, seeing Fiona and Angel again, seeing various other characters, escapes from prisons, making plans. OMG, it was a rollercoaster of a ride and I definitely could not put this book down. I just had to know what would be next, what was the villain's next plan, would our team be able to defeat him/make a plan? I loved that the Superzeroes got such a major role in this one. They are still pretty new to the superhero business and some people still doubt them, but I think after this one they are even more appreciated, even by that grumpy old teacher of theirs.

The final battle, OH MAN. That was just the best, it is truly a spectacular battle and worthy of a final boss one. Rogues, the army, helicopters, superpowers, and something very very big and angry.

There are various fun references to so many things. We see Sound of Music pop up, read how villainous comic sans is (to which both me and my hubby were agreeing), and much more. It is like a game, how many references can you find/recognise.

And, like the others, there is the fourth wall that gets broken at times. Everybody who knows me knows that I LOVE stories that break the fourth wall. OK, it could have done without that lame rabbit story, but the rest was perfection. It is great fun when the author/narrator talks to the reader.

I love it when titles come back and are mentioned in the book. I already had a suspicions who the Final Five were, and was delighted to see it be true.

Like the other books this one is wonderfully illustrated. The style just fits so well with the story and the hilarious and exciting moments.

Oh, I was a bit worried about the Mary situation... but I shouldn't have worried. I would like to say more, but I don't want to spoil or use spoiler tags. So you will just have to read the book. ;)

As with the previous book when the villain pops up and gets a POV, I just either spedread through it or just skipped it. Mostly skipped it. I am sorry, I am just not a fan of villains. With some books I can stomach to read them, but in this series I just cannot. The villains are just so ehhhhhh. And I get it, they are villains, but if it makes me want to throw a book in a corner (sorry book), then I am not going to read their POV.

But all in all, I loved this book and I loved this series. I will definitely miss it. It was just so much fun, it made me laugh, it made me giggle, it was exciting and super. I would highly recommend it.

Kid Normal and his friends the Super Zeroes are relieved that many rogues are off the streets and locked up where they belong. But one is
still out there. He is Nicholas Knox and was the brains behind villain Nektar’s reign of terror (back in book 1).

Knox is vain, suave and terribly cunning, and most of all, still wants to rule the world. He has an evil plan to make the Heroes Alliance help him achieve his dream.

What!? The Super Zeroes help a baddie instead of fight them? Let me explain.

The Heroes Alliance has always operated behind the scenes, under the view of the normal public, in fact, saving the world by catching one villain at a time – in secret. Knox decides to reveal them all, even telling the public where the Alliance schools are.

Before they know it, Murph and his friends have to run a gauntlet of angry sign bearing protestors outside the school gates. They all seem angry at the Superhero Alliance, calling them sneaky and dangerous and demanding all Alliance schools should be closed down.

This is all part of Knox’s plan. If the Superheroes and particularly the Superzeroes (Murph and his friends) are exposed then ridiculed and driven to hide from the public or even better, be locked up, then Knox will be free to do whatever he wants!

Murph is shocked to see one person after another turn against them, even his own brother! He knows that this is their biggest mission yet. Luckily, there are people that don’t believe Knox. They might not be heroes themselves but are very clever in their own right.

These people are the Resistance, and with the Superzeroes help, rise up to fight Knox. Somehow he has the general public glued to their phones, computers and tablets. Especially at 6pm every day. Are they watching the news? What is sooo interesting? The Superzeroes are shocked when they find out!

No. 4 . and the final in this hilarious, action packed, imaginative series. Each of the Superheroes quirky powers are now refined for perfect power against any villain, but they are really put to the test this time.

Who would have thought that tiny horses summoned on demand, the ability to blow up (make bigger, not explode) your own body parts, or summon storms would be handy in the fight against evil.

Murph excels himself again in the leadership of his crew, going up against the brilliant mind of Nicholas Knox, the worst villain of all. This story is told by the narrator directly to the reader, which pulls you into the story along with the exciting plot.

Funny without being silly, this superhero adventure is the final fight against renown villains, with only the Superzeroes left to fight. These final five work together brilliantly to convincingly prevail. But it’s definitely a close call.

Phew!

Fun for Kids and Adults

Audiobook Review:
This is such a fun audiobook! The book’s authors are the narrators, and they do a fantastic job. What I loved most about this book is the humor. Parts of it had me laughing out loud, which is rare even in an adult book (let alone a children's book). I loved it when one character was said to come in “raging like a thesaurus” as he hurled frustrated words at all in the vicinity. It's an audiobook that could easily be played in the car during a family trip because there will be enough to keep the adults amused and entertained along with the children. I often shy away from reviewing middle-grade books because I fell in love with reading at that age, and I don't want to be disappointed by hearing or reading poorly written books for that age. This is a book that makes me glad that I break that rule on occasion as it was such a joy. Highly recommended.

I received a free copy of this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.

Enjoyable episode, full of friendship and silliness (and a bit of X-Men).

Another adventure set in the school for superheroes, with Murph, Kid Normal, at the heart of things. A previous antagonist returns, the teachers are back, the friends are still close, and the humour is just as whacky as ever (the rabbit story returns!).

My son was laughing in the back of the car quite regularly, I enjoyed hearing the author-narrators talk to us and play with words. And I did like the idea from X-Men of people treated as lesser citizens because of their superpowers, with familiar villain Knox willing popular favour with his xenophobia.

A lesson for modern times, there.

Lots about working together and friendship, about appreciating your talents, and lots of fun as well. Well-narrated by the two writers, who are very easy to follow and brought out the humour of the text.

For ages 7-11.

With thanks to Netgalley for providing a sample audio copy.

I loved this so, so much! A great AND epic conclusion to the series.

Writing was hilarious. Characters were loveable. The villains tried hard to be evil whatnot but they ended up being more endearing and cute in my eyes lol. There was just so much going on and the pages just flew by?

I dropped a star because of Murph and Mary. They were cool in their own way but I did not like how they were not exactly nice with their words. It sounded to me condescending at times? Billy,,, don't worry! You're still the best heroooo. And Hilda and Nellie too!

I thought the message was delivered well and it was emphasised throughout the series.

Ps, I would die to have a solo book with Billy alone.

I think it is fair to say that the authors were ready to say goodbye to Kid Normal and the Super Zeroes with this final book. It isn't that there was something wrong with this book it just seemed to lack something the rest of the series had.

I am sure that kids will still love it and find the irreverent humour funny. As an adult, it felt like it was the same jokes being pulled out again and dusted off. Whilst it was still amusing it was more of an, oh yes this is funny, rather than an actual laugh-out-loud moment I'd had with the earlier books.

That said it is still a great story and the age range it is written for will most likely still love it and think it is the best thing since the last book.

Five friends against Nicholas Knox. Nicholas discovered the world of heroes and wanted to turn everyone against them. He wanted to use a mind controlling device to convince everyone that heroes were evil and using their powers against the town. Nicholas has a 6 o'clock 'Cosy chat' that keeps the mind control going and his rogue friend Kopykat shape shifts into one of heroes. Can the five friends save themselves and the country? I really really enjoyed this story as a lot happened in this book, so much so I struggled to keep up at times. DO NOT THINK ABOUT RABBITS.

Great storyline and plot , full of action and fun. Characters really likeable and well described. Had audience interested from the first chapter.
Main drawback was whilst reading out aloud to the children the book didn't read smoothly. I had to really concentrate on what was being said and next sentence or who was speaking. Some vocabulary was difficult for my 10 and 7 year old as unusual words dropped into a sentence every now and then. Difficult for the children to follow all the action going on, may have helped if we had read the first book in the series.

A thrilling caper which guides the reader through another adventure. The pair have refined the style and characters, and there are some good decisions on when to explain the exposition. A very decent ending too.

The 4th installment of the kid normal series and another enjoyable children's book.

The story doesn't really evolve too much from the other books but the premise is solid enough and I would recommend the series to a younger audience.

This is the first book I have come across in this series, I have been reading it with my daughter and she really enjoyed it. Full of adventure and excitement along with humour - We are now going to start from the first book in the series and follow the adventures of Murph and the other Zuper Heroes. This is definitely a series I will be recommending to the children that come into our library.

Another fun book I enjoyed listening to with my son. He thinks you should be forewarned not to think about rabbits while reading or listening to the book.
