Raney wants to enjoy being a bridesmaid at her friend’s wedding, but the best man, Justin Woodward, keeps putting a damper on her mood. He’s brilliant and kind of geeky—not at all the kind of guy she’s used to—but she’s always been nice to him, so she can’t figure out why he acts so cool and obnoxious with her.
It shouldn’t matter what he feels about her, but she can’t stop thinking about him. So her mission for the weekend is to get Justin to like her. Her attempts don’t seem to work at all.
Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she teaches English, reads any book she can get her hands on, and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.
She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.
Aww... this one made me smile! Great fast read if you just want to read something quick. This was my third read from this "One Night..." series but by far my fave. We get to check in with the couples from the previous two installments as well. I loved Justin. He's the unassuming, self-conscious guy who's always had a crush on the pretty girl but was always too shy to make a move...until one night! I loved how the conflict here initiated from the hero (Justin) being the one to have doubts stemming from self-confidence issues. Guys have these too and it seems like we are always reading about the women that have these struggles.
Oh, and it's a steamy little number too! Wink wink!!
I love this series, but this is sadly the weakest one far and away. The normal strength of the series that Noelle Adams picks the perfect set up for a couple to believably get together in one night. That element just wasn't present for this one, so the dude just seemed like an ass and the woman seemed like a doormat
One Night with the Best Man is the 6th instalment in the One Night Novella series. This one tells Raney's story who is best friends with Anne and Meg from the previous two instalments.
Adams follows the same theme and formula in this novella as the five previous ones but this one plays on insecurities and shows the vulnerable side to both Raney and Justin. I really liked Justin with his intelligence and somewhat nerdy personality. For some reason I always seem to find that type of guy the most attractive. Needless to say, I was in his corner the whole time.
As I've stated with the other novellas, the story moves fast and the pages heat up quick. I would expect nothing less in a story with so few pages. The entire series is quick and easy to read with many enjoyable characters and enough heat to roast marshmallows. They are perfect for fans of sexy romance without a lot of time to commit to a book.
נובלה המוקדשת לרייני, חברתה של אן מהנובלה One Night with her Boss, ושל מג, מהנובלה One Night with her Roommate.
I have really enjoyed all the books in the One Night series and this one made me smile! Raney meets Justin when wedding plans for her best friend, Anne, are forming. Although Justin is nerdy, Raney had a connection with him. Things were going fine and then one day Justin turns cold and is down-right mean to her. What did she do?? She always tries to do the right thing and to make people happy. She decides to be super nice to him and find out what she did to screw things up. As the wedding weekend starts, she just keeps trying to open up a very closed-off Justin. Finally he opens a little bit and they share some childhood feelings which seem to bind them together a bit. Laney realizes she doesn't care if Justin is nerdy, she just likes how she feels when she is with him. All bets are off though after a couple of misunderstandings leave her sobbing and feeling gut-wrenching sick. Can Raney pull it all together and give Anne her undivided attention? More importantly, what can she do when confronted with the possibility of never feeling again what she feels when she's with Justin. She's got to pull it together and she will deal with things later. Only later comes real quick when outside forces step in and the two are given no choice but to talk.
Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I loved the characters and felt they were developed very well. The story flowed well and not once did I want to set it aside. I was rooting for Raney and Justin and wanted them to have a happy book ending. I was so very pleased with the result! I look forward to reading the next One Night series book so I can check-in on all the characters from the previous books! I was gifted the book by the author for the express purpose of an honest review. The rating and review are solely my opinion and in no way was I compensated.
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
One Night with the Best Man centres around Raney and Justin and Raney's best friends wedding. Rainy's best friend is Anne from One Night with her Boss and Justin is Jake's little brother.
Raney and Jsutin met a few months ago and the wedding details were being planned and things went well to begin with until he suddenly became cold. Raney being a people person and wanting to make everyone happy does not understand the change in him and vows to try harder to be nice.
It's on the way to the wedding that things start to change as they manage to get to know each other better and start to work out their differences and the heat between them starts to ignite. They get a true glimpse under the masks to see the real people behind.
After the dinner rehearsal things get even hotter as they end up together. The day of the wedding however tensions are high due to miscommunication and both end up trying to close down until friends intervene,
This novella ties up the HEA of this bunch of friends and we get a good wrap up in the epilogue of how the HEA is likely to go with Raney and Justin and for Meg and East.
I'm hoping that there are more books in the One Night series even if they do not follow any of the friends other others mentioned in the previous books.
Raney is a people pleaser and can’t not stand when people don’t like her. So when Justin the best man at one of her best friends weddings starts to act like he doesn’t like her, she decides to change his mind. Justin is not only the best man but the grooms brother and he tends to be on the geeky side. He thinks he is not Ramey’s type so he starts trying to protect his heart. This was a sweet and sexy novella where it seems a miscommunication could end up keeping them apart. Overall it was a good read!
I wanted to read something quick and steamy. This was that. But the whole miscommunication trope was killing me. For such a short book it sure did keep happening. 😭

But then everything changes in only one night...
Raney tries her best to be nice to everyone including the best man at her friends wedding, Justin. She doesn't get why he is always so mean to her. She intends on making him like her no matter what it takes. But will she get more than she bargains for? And how will she react when she finds he likes her more than she realizes?
Seemed shallow and superficial to me. Also seemed like the author was trying to exaggerate circumstances to create tension between the two main characters. Seemed like the girl was often overreacting in my opinion and the guy was always apologizing for simple things that wouldn’t have happened if there was communication. Seemed like that “immature” puppy love where things get blown out of proportion. And then they supposedly love each other drastically but they’ve been doing nothing but getting it in with one another. That type of erotic romance novel where’s it’s all about touch me here touch me there, I can’t wait to fell you etc etc. this read wasn’t it for me. Reviews are saying others are better but we will see
Raney and Justin are so sweet together. Raney always wants everyone to be happy. They've spent time together for the upcoming wedding of his brother and her roommate (Jake and Anne) but lately he's seemed like he doesn't like her so much.
Raney's finding that she initially liked Justin but didn't think he was boyfriend material but she's taking a second look on the wedding weekend.
Raney is sweet and beautiful, but she's a pleaser and she needs to find a guy who appreciates her for her and Justin is that guy. I like these two so much and they are smoking hot together.
There are some common denominators in the series that bothered me but in this particular case I resented Raney for making it all about herself on her best friend's wedding, even though she was all "no, I won't say anything, I don't want to spoil her wedding" she would always spill the beans and then everyone was focusing on her problems instead of the wedding.
I liked it better than the previous short in this "One Night" series. There are some distractingly repetitive lines, but in the end very satisfying and cute read. Also, huzzah for a geekish character who's not portrayed as excessively socially incompetent.
I bought this book after reading the blurb and thinking it would be a cute story. I was under the impression that the hero guy was going to be cold, dislike the heroine for some reason, ignore her, be outright rude and flippant while trying to get thru a wedding (and then fall in love!).
But that is not what I got. My interpretation of the story was that the heroine was so obsessed with the fact that she thought the hero disliked her, that she over reacted at any little comment he made to her. I asked myself in each case, would I have been offended if I was told "this" or "that"... but no. I always found fault in the heroine being way too sensitive.
It also irritated me that the heroine several times was creating this drama during her bff's wedding weekend. Several times the bride needed to stop and figure out how to console our heroine... so that seemed immature and selfish to me.
Other than that, I found that their miscommunications, petty arguing, and insecurities to be very realistic (for their age group).
Of this series of novellas, this story has been my favourite so far. Raney and Justin are so meant to be together but past misunderstandings have held them apart until the wedding of Justin's brother and Raneys best friend. After that things are explosive. Very enjoyable quick read.
I like these short one night stories, they are hot and just make you melt. You usually fall in love with the lead guy because he is just so amazing and falls for the girls hard and fast. I also find a lot of it accurate in regard to the women always in their own heads to much about whether this guy really likes her or is just in it for a quick fling. And they always end happy.
One of the wimpiest heroines I have ever read. She never asserted herself to bring about her own happiness. Everything was left up to the hero to do and fix. And she kept acting like she was the victim of the hero's actions and miscommunications but she was guiltier than he was! She was so annoying.
I really like this story. Justin, the groom's brother and best man, is a bit geeky but gets along great with Raney, who is used to date playboys. They hit it off but soon Justin goes cold and she does not understand why. It will all be addressed at the wedding. It made me smile. It's cuuuute
3.5 stars. Super enjoyable and sweet. Social butterfly FMC + computer programmer/underdog MMC. Impressed with the amount of build up the author was able to achieve for a novella of this length. The story was believable but not very memorable in the long run.
