Rate this book
Abby Weber and her best friend Phoebe arrive in Ireland, ready for their dream vacation. Their plan is simple. Drink pints of Guinness, see a few castles, and enjoy the splendors of the Emerald Isle. Meeting a cocky, bad boy Irishman named Erimon, who irritates her as often as he makes her stomach flutter, is not part of the plan. Neither is being chosen to die by The Dullahan, a Celtic death god. Fortunately for her, the bad boy Irishman is an immortal warrior Druid.

Abby accepts that only the infuriating Druid can help her fend off The Dullahan. Erimon enlists the help of a mismatched band of mythical friends, and together they make a new plan: Kill The Dullahan before it kills her. Diving into a magic world she never knew existed, exploring an increasing heat rising between her and Erimon, and relying on friendships forged in battle, Abby will discover an entire other side to herself. Well well.... would you look at this quote from the "acknowledgements" in the back of the book:

Thank you to Jilly, my first ever beta reader, who sparked so many amazing ideas for this story and were it not for you, there’d be no ‘Sassie Lassies’.

That's right, I was involved. You're welcome!

So the deal is that this book is about two American girls who go to Ireland to meet hot guys.
Sure, maybe that wasn't the original plan, but that's what happens.
And okay, so they end up having some creepy thing that wants to kill one of them.
But, it's like my mama used to say, "If you don't end up kidnapped, married to a stranger, or have a few attempts on your life while on vacation, you need to go back and try harder."
Mama was wise.

Our last vacation:

Yeah, we are banned from Sea World now. Worth it!

The two girls are Abby and Phoebe. Abby is a little bit jaded and negative while Phoebe is completely sweet and naive. Phoebe immediately gets a vacation-boyfriend while Abby is being annoyed by a guy who is way too cocky. And, he might have some sort of magical power. The way he's described? I'm guessing that magic is in his pants.

This book is fun and funny (I helped with some of those! :D), and different. I didn't know much about the Irish mythology and folklore before and it was interesting.
Carly is also very awesome!

Oh my gosh! This was such an amazing read! Filled with so much fun, thrills, mysteries and charm, I fell totally in love with every single character…well, except the bad guy.

description

When Abby and her best friend Phoebe finally take the splurge and travel to Ireland, they’re expecting sight-seeing, castles and lots of pubs. And they get that. They also get just about every mystical being ever created along the way. But when a scary other worldly dude wants Abby as a sacrifice, they’re going to need more than just the luck o' the Irish.

Enter Erimon and all his walking, talking arrogance. From the moment they first meet Abby was attracted to him and told herself she was repelled by his smug attitude. She can tell herself all day long, that doesn’t stop her from thinking about him. And when she learns exactly what he hides behind all that smugness, instead of running away, she runs to him as he’s the only one who can help her.

description

I had so much fun reading this! Abby and Phoebe were freaking hilarious together. They were just like you’d imagine besties on a trip to Ireland would be. Phoebe is definitely a winner for all time best secondary character. Abby is the level headed one of the two. Rather than lose her mind when crazy magic begins to happen around her, she rationalizes and then eventually embraces it.

Erimon was one hunk of tattooed alpha goodness. I loved that he knew exactly what he needed to do for Abby and set out to do it. I adored his smexy flirtation with her even as they have some serious issues to deal with. When we fully learned about him, my heart was broken on his behalf. But holy heck, what eventually happens had me crying and cheering him on.

description

There is a whole cast of incredible characters within these pages.

”We took off down the road - a Druid, a leprechaun and his wife, a giant, a goddess Queen, and a mortal claimed by a death god. An eclectic band of folks was we.”

With each one I wondered what their story would be like. That’s always a good sign you’re reading something wonderful. This author created a mystical world that held me spell bound. The descriptions are clear and concise, giving precise images to carry with me throughout the story. There are so many laugh out loud moments that are balanced with enough drama and mystery to keep the story moving forward. No skimming or bogging down here! I devoured every word on the page and when it reached the end (light cliffhanger) I was hungry for the next book right now!

Another fun Carly Spade book! Thank you so much for sending me a copy of this fun read!

Abby and her bestie Phoebe take a trip to Ireland, but neither woman expected the trip to end up as it did. After all, leprechauns, goblins, Druids, and giants aren’t real. They are only fairytales and they most certainly don’t live in Ireland. Except they do and now Abby has been marked to die by an evil being. Not only does she need the help of her best friend and her best friends new man, Abby also needs the help of the mysterious and sexy man at the bar. For unknown reasons, she is drawn to him even though he aggravates her. Yet, with the threat of her life on the line, Abby has to fight to stay alive and work out her feelings for this new stranger.

Spades writing flows so nicely and super easy to binge. She writes some of my favorite friendships, specifically female friendships. They are just so relatable and not toxic at all. Sometimes I even like the friendships more than the romance partners, which are just as good!

Power of Eternity is book one in the duology and is definitely one that her readers will devour and appeal to new readers too!

In a nutshell, Abby and Phoebe get a little bit more than they bargained for when they decided to take their dream vacation in Ireland. . . Druids and Leprechauns and a Dullahan . . . Oh my!

The Power of Eternity is a fun, action-packed fantasy that had me belly laughing one minute and gripping my seat the next! The twists and turns kept me glued to the pages in anticipation of what was going to happen next. And now, I can't wait for Druid Duo Book 2!

It was a magical debut novel by Carly Spade and I can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve with the next installment.

What can I say about this book? Carly is amazing. I am so lucky to have come across her amazing books through bookstagram. She is truly an author that deserves so much love and fangirling.

Thank you for sending me an arc copy of Power to read and review. I told Carly she does not have to ask me to read anything she writes. Just tell me to read it and I will.

I started this book yesterday and finished today. I could not put it down. Carly’s writing flows so well and she grabs you and keeps you hanging on for more. This story was beautiful and fast paced. So much action and so many characters to fall in love with.

I love that she has more side character depth in this series. I am always a sucker for side characters. Erimon and Abby though, perfection. Loved their chemistry from the start. And also love the constant guessing and trying to figure out what is going on.

I cannot wait for book two to this duo. I devoured this book and need more of this story. I am also so excited and proud of Carly that she rewrote this, her very first book ever. It is lovely and so worth the read. Also- I can’t stop picturing Erimon as Allanon (Manu Bennett) from the show Shanarra chronicles who happens to be a Druid as well.

Bravo and thank you for this lovely story. I need more and counting down for book two.

Thank you so much to @literaryboundtours and @carlyspade for sending me this gorgeous paperback in exchange for an honest review!

So, I was supposed to travel to Ireland this past March with a large group of students and fellow teachers. Of course, the pandemic rendered travel impossible, thus we postponed until next spring break. BUT—when one of my fave fantasy romance authors ever approached me with an eARCof this second edition of Power of Eternity literally during the EXACT week I should’ve been in Ireland, I knew it was fate!! This book allowed me to go on the magical Irish adventures of my absolute DREAMS—complete with a ton of mystical Celtic folklore and a sexy badass warrior Druid named Erimon!

In true Carly Spade style, PoE is a fast-paced, hilarious, action-packed, and steamy fantasy tale, complete with amazing chemistry between a relatable MC and mysterious bad boy—Irish accent this time! I always love how Carly builds strong female friendships in addition to romance; I absolutely loved that the narrative focuses so much on Abby and Phoebe and their bestie dynamic!

I cannot tell y’all just how freaking happy it left me to get to read this novel and explore so many iconic settings and imagine what it would be like to be swept away by the glorious Emerald Isle. This is book one in a duology, so I’m extremely excited to see how the story further flourishes in the second installment!

A magical read! In all aspects: story, characters and style.

This book made me fall in love with Irish culture. All characters are relatable and believable, even the mythical creatures! The author’s retelling of Abby and Phoebe’s journey is smooth and grabs the reader’s attention instantly. The pace is quick, and I felt I was the one hopping in a plane, visiting Ireland and discovering its secrets.
What I loved the most is the natural evolution of all relationships: nothing seemed forced or out of the blue, even if it is fantasy. The MCs interactions are hilarious and their love absolute. At the end of the book, I felt I’d made new friends! Friends that I am still thinking about days after finishing their story, and for me, that makes it a must-read!

Although I think Book 2 of this duology cannot come soon enough, this first one gives you peace of mind (no hard cliffhanger), so dive in it right now, you won’t regret it!

This book was a great read for St. Patty's Day...or any day if you love Ireland and Irish folklore.

I was immediately sucked into this one. Two best friends taking a trip to Ireland! Who can resist? Especially when you meet the sexy, tatted, Irish bad boy, Erimon...when he's fighting and being protective. Drool!

Pub hopping, castle-touring, Blarney-stone kissin', and adventure await in this book with all the Irish folklore you can stand: druids, kelpies, leprechauns, and so much more. I loved the action, the slow-burn, and the enemies to lovers feel of this book. I loved that Carly tapped into so much history and lore. It was awesome!

I enjoyed meeting all the characters, Abby and Phoebe were the perfect mismatched besties, and Patrick and Erimon, gah...

This was my first Carly Spade book, but it definitely won't be my last!
I can't wait for the second half of this duo!!

Holy moly... I need the next book like NOW!! LOL

I've read Carly Spade's Contemporary Mythos series, and this book is just as amazing as that one is. I loved the entire book from start to finish.

This is the first book in the Druid Duo, and it looks like it was originally released a couple of years ago (seriously how did I miss this???). Unfortunately I don't see that book 2 has been published yet, and I'm praying that it's coming soon since this book was put on Booksprout as an ARC. If not, pretty pretty please publish book 2??

I digress. This story is about the trip to Ireland that Abby (an assistant zoologist) and her best friend take to Ireland. Abby has always had an affinity to animals and nature, and it becomes amplified while she traveling. Her best friend, Phoebe, befriends an Irish stranger (Patrick) at the airport and he becomes their personal travel guide while there.

While Phoebe and Patrick's friendship blossoms to more, Abby is trying to figure out her instant attraction to Erimon who is just her type...a mysterious bad boy!

This is where the story turns magical... literally. You find out that Erimon is an ancient Druid with mystical Earth powers, and Abby has a strange connection with him. What Abby doesn't know is that she has been marked by the Dullahan... another ancient mystical being.. who wants her essence. Erimon gets a gang of other ancient warriors to fight... and you discover that Patrick is actually a Leprechaun!!!

This is an absolute wonderful story filled with everything that a great book needs.
I mean the whole book is addictive and I didn't want to put it down, much less end.
The romance between Abby and Erimon is so hot!!!

The end leaves so so much up in the air...I want, no NEED, to know what happens with the whole crew next (especially with Abby and Erimon!!!). So this is my desperate plea to Carly Spade!! Please publish book 2?!?!?! Don't leave me in suspense!!!

I recieved an ARC for my honest review.

Carly is in the zone with this one! I devoured this story in one setting with so many feels I could not put it down. Absolutely swoon worthy with a dollop of sweet! Fall in love with Erimon and see how fast he makes your heart beat! Abby just cannot help herself and I hate to tell you there are so many of us that are in her boat. You get to know the characters and the visuals that Miss Spade ply us with are just remarkable! Do NOT miss this book or this Duet!

I had pretty high hopes for this book. After all of the great reviews I expected to be loving every minute of this thing and laughing all the time. Well, I wasn't. It was good, don't get me wrong. But I don't see myself ever wanting to read it again and I am not chomping at the bit for the next book.

What actually is kind of funny about reading this book now is that me and my best friend will be going to Ireland in a couple weeks as one of our stops on a European vacation. And these two characters were so me and her in so many ways that it was absolutely ridiculous. So now here I am, trying to figure out how to get her to hook up with a leprechaun and for me to get a hot druid. Because it could happen. Right? Let's just leave out the whole targeted for death thing though.

So Abby and her best friend, Phoebe, are heading to Ireland for a three week vacation. As luck would have it, they meet an attractive Irishman right in the airport and he even sits in the same row on the plane. See, lucky! But I have to totally side with Abby on this when she starts freaking out after Phoebe starts telling this guy, this complete stranger, where they're going and even where they're staying. Making matters worse is how blithely she accepts him being their private tour guide. Fortunately, he's actually not a creepy murderer. But he's also not human. Even so, for a few days they play tourist where we get real places and stories. It's at a bar he's taken them to that Abby encounters Erimon. And quickly dismisses him.

While Phoebe is falling in love with Patrick, Abby is trying her hardest to ignore the attention of Erimon. He screams everything bad boy and that's not something she wants to get involved with. But he's always there to save her when she finds herself in trouble. Biggest trouble being when she finds herself targeted by the Dullahan (for which we still don't know why), and she'll need his help and more if she wants to stay alive. Lucky for her, Erimon too is also not human. And he has some powerful friends willing to help.

Which is actually something that I don't understand. Why are all these people, 3 of which are complete strangers mind you, willing to risk their lives and their futures for Abby? They've never met her. They don't know her. Why is she so special? All because Erimon asked? That doesn't seem like a good enough reason to me.

The confrontation with the Dullahan seemed anti-climatic, which when you find out the whole thing isn't over, kind of makes sense I guess. But boy does he get one good shot in. Good thing Abby has somehow captured the heart of Erimon. Now with his actions, both of them have changed but we don't know exactly how yet. Something I'm sure we'll learn going forward though.

So while this was a fun read, with a whole bunch of mythological creatures, I just don't know if I will read the next one. Maybe if it was free and sounded good. I just sadly didn't really get all that into this one.

Power of Eternity is a fantastic journey into Irish culture and folklore that left me wanting to board the next plane to Ireland to immerse myself in the vivid settings Carly describes. A slow-burn romance with a sexy, immortal warrior, an unlikely band of characters from Celtic mythology, and plenty of magic and surprises kept me turning the pages, eager to see how the strong-willed and resilient Abby would conquer the challenges thrown her way. She's brave and genuine, and her adventures with the easygoing, jovial Phoebe make you wish you were there seeing the sights, fighting the bad guys and falling in love right along with them. With the depth and quality of Carly's descriptions, I often felt like I was! She has a real talent for making you feel the chemistry between her characters, stomach flutters and all. Eagerly awaiting the sequel!

Yeah, baby! Bring on an ancient, arrogant Druid reformed in his ways. Add a dollop of magic, folklore and a heroine who is resilient yet delightfully un-annoying. Give me the Power of Eternity.

I'd been looking for a good fantasy romance for a while so this book was a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. I loved the characters—Erimon was delish with a side of yum and Abby had sense (and sensibility). I quite liked Phoebe and Patrick too, which rarely happens with me and secondary characters.
The pace was good, the plot intriguing and I loved the world built around Irish mythology. Oh, and as a fellow Finn, bonus points on adding Ilmarinen. ;)

Great read!

Wow! I am speechless... This is the first genre of book I've ever read and i was really sceptical about reading it. I took a chance and i am so glad i did. This book was not what i was expecting it to be but so much more, it was beautifully written and i fell completely in love with the story, from Abby & Phobe, Erimon and everyone between, i was captivated and at one point shed a tear! I am beyond excited to read the next part to this incredible story ❤

A new favorite book of mine!! An epic, magical, beautiful world with relatable, fantastic characters. I LOVE Irish history, mythology, & culture. Power of Eternity brought all of those components into a genius creation. Page-turning suspense, relationships that make you swoon, and magical adventures are a few of my favorite aspects. I'm hooked! I am so excited for book 2! A must read for fans of fantasy, adventure, and (irish) culture and really all readers in general!!

I'm sorry Jilly but I didn't like this book.

Apart from some funny quotes (and I'm guessing you had a lot to do about those) the story seems urealistic and fragmented. I didn't feel the connection between the main characters (didn't even like them to be honest) and the whole plot felt like someone just put a bunch of folklore into a modern story...

Holy smokes, I loved this book!

This was such a pleasure to read, and man do I wish I could start the sequel right now. You are going to love the characters, fall for a certain Druid, and get swept up in the mythology that permeates this exciting story. A really powerful debut for Carly Spade, I am definitely recommending this to my friends!

This book was unlike any of the books I've read this year. I really enjoyed the twist on the Irish/Gaelic legends and folklore. I think Phoebe and Patrick were sickeningly cute, and where can I find myself a broody Druid like Erimon? I loved the setting and how an unlikely group of people and creatures become like family to save one of their own. Can't wait to read book 2!

Oh my, oh my! This was absolutely the best! It was delicious and delightful and so very humorous all while it broke my heart just a bit. This is whimsical and set in the modern world but has just a spectacular feel to it with all of the mythical creatures brought to life in brilliant detail. There are just so many things to love about this beautiful book! It's simply enchanting!

I absolutely loved Abby and her bestie, Phoebe. Pairing the two together on an unforgettable trip to a fabulous destination was one brilliant idea! Phoebe has a personality that lights up a room. She brings out the best things in Abby. I'm kinda jealous that she's not my bestie.

Our hero in this rocks a bit of an anti-hero vibe. He's dangerous and a bit dark, but then the most intriguing book boyfriends are. And he's most definitely one of those! Hello to Mr. Druid's wind abilities. *Wink, wink*

The bond between Abby and Erimon is quite an exciting force. It pulses and draws them together and it get hot indeed when they finally act upon their desires.

This is the first that I've ever read from Ms. Spade, and I honestly can't wait to read more of her work. Her writing is a breath of fresh air and an addictive force. I hope we get the continuation to this story soon! I need to know what awaits our friends next.

I can't tell you how much I adored this book. I was hooked from page one and I absolutely loved everything about this story.

Carly Spade has become one of my favorite go to writers, bringing these amazing stories. Mixing fantasy, folklore, history and pack with action and romance. Honestly I'm just amaze.

Power of Eternity take us to Ireland. Where Abby and best friend Phoebe go for vacation. Never in a million years did they expect everything they encounter there. From druids, leprechauns, mystical creatures and the Dullahan. Abby discovering so much more about herself and fighting for her life.

I loved Erimon, his mysterious but oh so sexy personality. How he goes above and beyond to save Abby. I loved hearing about his story and how he opens himself to Abby.

The ending of this story left me wanting more and I can't wait to read the next book.

I will admit that I am in a mood and this was just not doing it for me. My biggest problem is that I’m 77% in and have no clue why Erimon is so into Abby. None. It’s weird and lacks chemistry. Also why did Abby get chosen? It feels like the idea was to create a quest with a bunch of fun characters but it took so long to get there that I’m bored out of my mind and don’t care anymore

I always love Carly Spade’s writing, and I adored getting to know her characters in this one. I particularly loved how she wove in Irish folklore and beautiful locations...and her characters! *sigh* My heart currently belongs to Erimon. Total bad boy with a soft heart! What’s more perfect than that?! I look forward to the sequel! It can’t get here soon enough!

I love how deep this book goes into Celtic mythology. There are not a lot of books that do, it is mostly Greek mythology books. Abby finds herself in Ireland with her best friend. They are having the time of their lives until Abby is marked. She is destined to die. In comes a large strong sexy Druid to save the day. He swears to save Abby from death, but is death what Abby needs?

Love the setup for this story. Abby and her friend go to Ireland on vacation, when Abby meets mysterious, sexy Erimon. Turns out she’s in for lots of surprises! A Celtic death god is after her, but luckily, she has a yummy immortal Druid warrior on her side. Fun magical and paranormal elements! I was really liking Abby from the beginning because of how well she treats animals; not a huge fan of her friend. Also, not a complete fan of Erimon in the beginning when Abby first meets him. He has a bad boy vibe; which is cool, but not a fan of the flock of women hanging on him. I liked him more as the story went on. Slow burn for the romance; Abby is understandably wary of Erimon with his bad boy vibe. Love his protectiveness. Cool action, loved the Irish setting, and fun characters! The story continues in the next book, so be aware that all won’t be solved in this book. Looking forward to reading it!

Abby Weber goes on vacation with her best friend, Phoebe. They arrive in Ireland and Abby meets an arrogant bad boy Irishman named Erimon. Although his attitude seems to irritate her, it was a lucky event she caught his attention since Abby is chosen to die by The Dullahan, a Celtic death god, and that irritating bad boy turns out to be an immortal warrior Druid who has powerful friends. Abby is also a strong character who is right in their battling along with the guys. Will Abby and Erimon possibly find a HEA after bonding in battle? Grappling with death should raise some strong emotions, right? Grab your copy and enjoy this well-done story!
