I’m not sure what hurts more: the knife in my back or the one in my heart.

I thought the worst thing that could happen to me was losing my powers and being shipped off to Supernatural Reform School.

I was wrong.

Betrayed and heartbroken, I’m still searching for the mages who stole my powers. But now I know that the conspiracy goes much higher up the chain of command.

High enough that my new friends and I might all be in danger.

Especially when we find out that Blakemore Paranormal Academy is housing a magical weapon. We don’t know what or why, but are determined to find out where and stop it.

The only upside: the search is a great distraction from my broken heart.

Will we find this weapon in time? Or am I about to find out how much I still have to lose?

Just wow! I legit had no words when I finished reading this book...

and then I had all the words and was like what am I going to do with all these emotions and thoughts? So I did the only thing I could and I started messaging the author lol...and begged a little, for more...

So now all I can do is wait until some time in October for the next ARC book. Sigh. Just be prepared you may want to make sure you have your favorite things on hand when you pick up this book. For me, that was Chocolate and coke.

The intense build-up towards the end was fantastically done. And I probably would've lost my mind a little if they hadn't of given me that epilogue at the end. It helped a teensy bit.

Sorry, I'm totally doing my rambling thing but you'd understand if you read the book.

SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ BOOK 1!!

So basically this picks up after the events of the last book but I think maybe a short amount of time may have passed...enough time that poor Cade is feeling a lot of strong emotions towards the sexy dragon shifter Sebastian after he has taken it upon himself to ignore her, once again. So Cade is feeling hurt and very angry towards not only him but also her parents who you know, just kinda took away her powers and also everyone else's at the school. Nothing worse than having a crazy slew of people turning against you...although *wink wink* I doubt Sebastian has turned against her...he just has delusional ideas that he's protecting her better this way...the logicness in this is just waaaay off right? and his good from Levi agrees.

“...what’s your excuse now?”
I have to move. Standing up, I pace the worn path in the carpet between the beds and the tiny bathroom. “The most important thing is keeping Cade safe,” I say. The words are true, but taste like a lie.
“And you can do that better from here than on campus? Or you can’t be in a relationship with her and do that? Makes sense. Very logical.” His voice drips with sarcasm.

Don't worry guys without spoiling anything too big he does come to his senses eventually lol.

I honestly want to talk more about this gush worthy romance in the book but I know if I do the proverbial flood gates will open...kinda like this

So all I will say, this book, if you haven't already made Sebastian a book boyfriend will totally make that happen! He's just so loveable and determined.

Okay, okay...I'm moving on. Sorta. Maybe.

I think this one will be added to my list of..."Not Moving On From!"

So let's talk about characters. I'm totally in love with the characters that have been created within this story and have thoroughly enjoyed watching the development of all their friendships and the way everyone comes together trying to uncover the mystery of where their magic has gone and what the deeper reason for it is.

Operation Witch/Weapon Hunt is on!

I have some serious favorites in this book when it comes to characters, MC aside I love the supporting characters. Tops being Kurt, Levi, Olivia & Willow. There was just something so special about these characters to me and the support and love they have for each other.

They just have such an amazing dynamic this group and although they are uniquely individual they work as one. I loved all their little quirks and protectiveness of each other, even Olivia who is the more 'say what you think' kind of girl, who wasn't initially part of the team slips in well and you see her walls come down around them. These guys are seriously the best and they have plenty of laughable comments.

I let go of his hands to cover my face as I sneeze. “Olivia? Are you alive?”
She stands up with a groan. “Next time I suggest standing on a questionable door frame, please slap me for my own good."
I chuckle, and this triggers more sneezing. "Deal."

I particularly love the friendship she has with Kurt from the very beginning of this series there was a strong connection with these two. They clicked fast to each other and I just love how they are with each and how cheeky Kurt is and how he just loves to push "loverboys" buttons AKA Bash.

A bit more about the story. I've given a little information on that already. But basically this book is all about them trying to work out the secrets hidden at Blakemore Academy and how they all fit into the bigger picture. A lot happens in this book, a lot of secrets uncovered and plans begin to unfold. But the biggest question of all is...Will they figure it out, before its too late?

Join Cade and her friends while they navigate in a world where they are practically blind to more then just one thing. When you can't see who do you know to trust? who will betray? and who will be the ones that are truly behind it all?

"...I need to be here, to be with people that I can actually trust. And now, more than ever, I want—no, need to know what’s happening to the magic..."

And just because I can't help myself...let's talk Sebastian just one more time. I know I said he gets over his little issues...but one thing I didn't say was...there's a bond brewing between him and Cade (you know that from book 1 - so no spoiler there) but we learn it runs much deeper...dragon level deeper. Feelings start to be felt and not in the typical sense...they start feeling each other's emotions something that you could say is quite unique...Will they fight it and deny what they feel or finally give in?

Because all book lovers love a teaser I'm going to leave these words that gave me all the girlie feels. Like I said, Book Boyfriend Alert.

“And just so you understand, I’m going to make it impossible for you to say no.”

Okie doke I've rambled on enough like a drunk lil pixie.

So all I will say now is thank you, thank you Sullivan Gray & E.C Farrell for the amazing opportunity of reading this ARC! And also thank you Sully for taking all my craziness in stride and for chatting with me today about your book. It made my day even if you were a tease lol.

Anywho CANNOT wait for book number 3! It's going to be EPIC and I NEED this book so much so that I would do almost anything to get a hold of it...maybe not give up my first-born haha but I'm willing to negotiate haha.

I'm so ready to devour the next book and all its obstacles. I may have guessed where the story was heading and who the insider was, pretending to be on their side but it didn't matter one bit. As I've said many a time it never diminishes the feeling of when it does actually happen. So

I'm good to go. So choppity-chop-chop-chop. 😁

Wow! Incredible second book!

I got the opportunity to read this book and I absolutely loved this second instalment. The story just keeps getting better and better and wow, was I glad we got to see so much more growth from the characters and story. The plot from book 1 continues and reaches an amazing crescendo in book 2! We had new love, betrayals, mysteries, awakenings and laughs all throughout this book. The authors have produced a unique story and the characters are just brilliant! I cannot wait for book 3 and to see more of cade, bash and all those fantastic characters. The ending had me jumping for joy and looking forward to new challenges and triumphs that are surely to come in book 3! Well done and you've made my a die-hard fan

Must read

So book two picks up without missing a beat from the first one. We have nonstop action from the word go. Operation Witch Hunt is still going strong and getting more recruits each day. The mystery of Blakemore Academy just keeps getting more and more interesting and mysterious with each thing that Levi uncovers.
We have plenty of people who we can trust. Or do we? Is everyone really who they seem to be?
Then you have Bash and Cade..... what is going on with those two? No, I'm not going to spoil it for you. But dang this book has 3 amazing book boyfriends for you to choose from.
I absolutely loved the first book, but I adore this one even more. I need the next one now. 💜💜

Things Are Ramping Up!

I was right, this series gets better as it goes. I don't love the cliffhanger ending but I guess that's what happens in an ongoing series. The intensity ramped up a bit in this one and I really liked that! Things are getting good! I'm ready for what is coming.
Content: some mild violence, peril. Kissing.

The Academy of Stolen Magic
by Sullivan Gray & E.C. Farrell
Book 2 of the Blakemore Paranormal Academy series
Rating: 5/5

The story continues! After quickly reading the first book (via Kindle Unlimited) and then signing up for the author's newsletter to read the short prequel, Dragon Heir, I was obviously hooked on this new series and had to read the second installment ASAP. Having lost sleep over this fast-moving series, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this series. Sometimes, the first book grabs your attention and then the rest just sort of fills in the rest and ends abruptly. Not so with this second book. The action continues and I think it gets even better. More secrets are revealed and the characters get to develop and grow. I really enjoyed reading this series and highly recommend!

My thanks to the author for an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

Part 2 - the plot thickens

The 2nd book in this series does a decent job of explaining the 1st without spending too much time on it. That's a good thing because, while this book can standalone, it's not going to be as good without the background of the 1st so it's better to read the series in order (except for the prequel which has valid arguments for & against - it was written after & my own opinion is to read it after, to empathize with Cade's ignorant perspective of Sebastian in the 1st)

The story more or less picks up where the 1st ended. Sebastian tries to return to his previous teacher-student boundaries with Cade without bothering to explain it to her, and then makes a decision that no one is happy with (& frankly, didn't really make much sense to me). Thankfully, there's much more to the story's development than that so my annoyance didn't pull me out of it.

This installment is even more exciting than the first. A new character is added who is not what he seems which is also not what he seems - you'll understand once you've read it, lol.

New information is learned & things are even more complicated than they appeared before. This book ends with more of a finished chapter feel, so the "To be continued" ending imparts a little more satisfaction this time. And thankfully, book 3 will be out on October 15, 2019 so not too awful of a wait.

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses, more sweet than clean - secular attitudes on sex outside of marriage based on implications & innuendo by some of the characters, but there's nothing graphic

I recieved an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review so here it is.

I never thought I'd get into academy stories, but these 2 books have totally changed my view 😊
I love the main group of characters, especially Kurt (I feel he should maybe get a bit more page action - hint hint!).
The social dynamic between the group flows nicely as does the story, continuing easily from book 1.
This is definitely what could be considered a page turner and I'm itching to find out where this story is going next!
Cudos to both Sullivan Gray and E.C Farrell foe a great start to what promises to be a great series.

This book was so amazing! Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down.
The pull between Acadiana and Sebastian is so strong but neither knows why.
The threat to all the members of Blakemore Academy is very real. Cade, Willow, Levi and Sebastian are trying to figure everything out but will it be enough to stop what is happened and still to come. As they find out more they gain more support from the other students.
They race against time and unknown forces and also betrayal.
I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next book.

This just jumps straight back in without missing a beat! Fast paced, non stop action , this awesome story continues going from strength to strength and has me on the edge of my seat! The characters continue to grow and develop, the suspense more intense, there’s betrayal and romance , vampires, witches and shifters galore. I loved the first book and I love this second one just as much if not more!

Cade and Sebastian's relationship are growing and seems a little more complicated if you dont really know what is going on.But how much more betrayal can Cade handle from her parents and everyone else around her?She makes new friends and delves deeper into the mystery behind most of them losing their powers. What they find and the losses they endure makes me want to cry and need a ton of chocolate.I swear my soul is crushed....but i want the third book already!

Wow this is a great addition to this series. It grabbed me from the first page to the last. Its a real page turner. There's lots of twists and turns. I love fantasy reads like this that you can just get lost in and have great world building and the characters just jump off the page. I definitely recommend this read.

TRIGGER: Attempted sexual assault and victim shaming. I don't care what that teacher said, no matter how prepared you are, or strong, or anything, someone can always be more, can catch you off guard, and telling her that if she worked harder at self-defense it wouldn't have happened is just, yuck.

Yep, they're mates. We don't find that out right away. First he pushes her away, just disappears after making out with her, and doesn't say a word to her for weeks. Then a new guy in school who is into her makes him jealous. She finally tells him he has to choose, and he tells her he can't with her and leaves. Then he leaves the school. She thinks that he quit to be with her, but she was wrong. I really hate this hero. Eventually they start being able to read each others emotions, so the bonding has begun. Now he wants her, realizes he made a mistake. I agree with her, it seems like its his dragon who wants her, not him. He hurts her, she wants him, she hates that she wants him, she wants him, he hurts her, on and on and on. If you are young, please, PLEASE do not think this is love. I thought Rafe was adorable and so badly wanted to just have her jump ship and be with him.

Spoilers:
Eventually the group finds out that there is a weapon on the school and go looking for it. They find an extremely creepy underground facility under campus where supes used to be experimented on. We find out that Rafe was told to get close to her, to be able to help get her when the time comes. He saves her from some evil and dies. But his ghost comes back, mostly as an adorable fox, and he explains that wolves took him and his sister, forced him to help them. She says she will help the sister but then never tells anyone, since she is the only one who can see him. The weapon is her, duh. The fae counselor is bad and is working with her ex's dad. She drugs her and hooks her up to a machine. The mages come back, unlock her powers, which are on extreme overload from not being used for months. It is going to power the machine to steal powers from thousands of others. She uses her training to push the power outward, restoring all powers, and releasing the hero's dragon. I really like the ending. Him rushing to save her, her restoring powers, his fear, then elation at his dragon, he flames up the bad guys and takes her back. But she is depleted. The next book he is going to take her to his clan. He is going to see his ex, feel things for her, since he grew up with her and she is a dragon, she will kiss him, his mother and her will push for them to get married, neither will be good to Cade, and Cade will leave and he will not follow. UGH WORST DRAGON HERO EVER. Screw a hea, she should find someone to break the mate bound and blow him a kiss goodbye. He never chooses her when the situation is just a tiny bit hard, oh I was protecting your honor blah. He promised her in this book he wouldn't let her go ever. We can't even see them date and learn about each together.

The Academy of Stolen Magic: YA Paranormal Academy Book Two (Blakemore Paranormal Academy 2)

OMG 😱 after finding out her parents may be connected to the loss of powers, she is so upset, has mixed emotions and Bash’s indecisive in the beginning of the book doesn’t help Cade, but he finally makes a decision regarding the two of them… Cade start to waver whether she should continue the search or give up.

How could she let everyone down after finding out everything she knows. A shifty fox had come in to the mix, and are teachers people you can trust at Blakemore? I had a feeling from book 1 about the staff at Blakemore Academy - but keep reading and see what happens…

I love Cade and all of her real new friends, including Olivia, but Kurt is definitely a ball buster …lol 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 whenever he is around you can’t help to LYAO….
Definitely recommend this book and this series… The authors ROCK!!!

Obsessed is not a word I use lightly but I am obsessed with this series. I really feel for Cade and I love how she’s growing as a person. I loved the new characters that have been added in, but none hold my heart quite like Sebastian. Honestly I enjoyed this one a little bit more than the first book, though I still adored it too. I’m in a rush now to finish the trilogy and spin offs and side story about Rafe, do yourself a favor and read this series!!

Adventure. Journey. Truth

Cade is in the middle of a situation that she doesn’t know how to fix. She lost her powers. so has 80% of the supes at the academy for paranormal that have lost or never got their power. Something is going on and Cade and her new friends are on a mission to find out what that is

Interesting

This is an interesting series. I enjoyed it. There were quite a few similarities to the previous series that made things seem a bit repetitive. But still, I’m excited to see what happens and that ending was really good.

It’s been two weeks since Cade stumbled across the possibility that her parents are part of a larger conspiracy that led to losing her powers. Despite the brief connection they shared, Cade is exasperated when Sebastian reverts to his aloof nature in a hapless attempt to protect her. Now that Sebastian’s dragon has initiated a mate bond, however, Cade can only grasp at the implications while a guilt ridden and confused Sebastian tries to control his inner dragon, whose jealousy at the arrival of new student Rafe Warren threatens to spiral out of control.

When Operation Witch Hunt resumes, the team make a shocking discovery: a weapon powered with the stolen magic from Supes is being housed at Blakemore. It transpires that around the time of the Unveiling, before Blakemore became an Academy, the government and other private firms used it for testing on supes in an attempt to harness and utilise their powers to produce non supes. Cade’s determination to discover its whereabouts takes a tragic turn and results in the loss of one of their own. With an enemy hiding in the shadows, will Cade and her team find the weapon in time or will she discover how much she still has to lose?

The Academy Of Stolen Magic is the second compelling instalment of the Blakemore Paranormal series. This was a tense, fast paced, exhilarating read which had me anxiously turning the pages. There were some genuinely creepy moments in the book, particularly the scene in the basement. Cade’s terror was palpable.

While the plot moved along nicely, I was impressed with the character development in this instalment and in particular the group dynamics between Cade, Levi, Willow, Kurt and Olivia. We see a completely different side of Olivia as we discover her backstory and how she came to lose her powers. It was Rafe who resonated with me the most however. Despite his later arrival into the series, it took me by surprise how quickly he grew on me. Last but not least, was the surprising twist in Cade and Sebastian’s relationship as a result of their unique mate bond. This led to some genuinely laugh out loud moments when Sebastian’s inner dragon growled every time he was jealous or purred every time Cade was near.

All in all this was a well executed excellent paced and intriguing instalment with a breathtaking climax and a cliffhanger that will leave the reader longing for the next instalment. Highly recommended for fans of urban fantasy, witches, vampires, shifters, fae and academy books.

Wow I love getting attached to characters so much!

It took me a while to get time to read this or book 1 for that matter but I’m zooming right through. I am so happy that book 3 is already out also because I have to know what’s next. This series is a draw you in and keep you till the last little word. Well written and real to the soul. Thank you for sharing your gift.

The Intrigue Continues

Very good follow on to Book 1, with upped intrigue and challenges that drew the Academy "team", including Bash and a surprising addition, into a more cohesive "family" unit. Some things you can see coming, but others may be a surprise. Quite a satisfying read, and I look forward to the conclusion of the story in Book 3, Blood of the Dragon Shifter.

The four star rating is due to Cade's seemingly perpetual angst, since she continues to refuse to communicate with Bash and others in order to learn the truth about them and related situations. She knows she should (Willow tells her to enough, and so does Levi - even from Book 1, actually), but she's content to be "strengthened" and directed by her anger instead.

Those are some major problems for me: refusal to heed wise advice; refusal to pursue clarification in understanding another due to pride (essentially); and choosing to rely on anger to help her "manage" her frustration over everything. I was hoping to see some headway in personal growth for Cade in those areas, but it also seems they all three are rather common in modern fiction. In fact, anger seems to be a go-to mechanism for heroes and heroines to use in "managing" themselves, i.e. their power, their strength, their "cool" if you will. To me, relying on anger to "help" you with pretty much anything is dangerous, and thus a character flaw. The authors may well intend to correct this in the final book, but I tend to doubt it when it's just so common in books anymore, and seems to be regarded almost without censure in our culture today. .

I received a digital arc in exchange for an honest review. This is simply my opinion on the book and is not influenced by any external factor.

This is the second installment of the Blakemore Paranormal Academy series, and after reading both this and its predecessor, I can say with confidence that this has exceeded my expectations.

First, we start off right where the previous left off – our heroine, Cade, is heartbroken about the revelations at the end of the first book (not spoiling anything – read it and find out ). But the mystery of her disappearing powers hasn’t been resolved, so Cade and co work together to try and solve this mystery. However, Blakemore Paranormal Academy is hiding some terrible secrets – and our group is going to investigate them – but not without tragedy and pain.

MILD TRIGGER WARNING: an attempted sexual assault takes place in the story, but doesn’t go any further than the attacker removing his belt.

I dove right into this after reading the first and enjoyed the smooth transition from book 1 to book 2. Exciting and heartpounding, this book brings about more action and suspense. We still see the same familiar faces along with a few more who join Operation Witch Hunt, but this time, the stakes are higher.

Like the previous, there is a heavy (possibly heavier) romantic focus in this, however, all romantic interaction is completely clean and does not go farther than a couple of kisses and a declaration of love.

Overall – another amazing addition to the series, looking forward to seeing how the series will continue with book 3.

Wow!! This one picks right up from the first one which is amazing. No time lapse here.
The action and drama are all here still and it is amazing.
The mystery is still not solved yet so we are still guessing with this.
Wonderful well written plot and story line which is just amazing!
Well written characters that are a joy to read about and follow.
I can't wait to see what happens next!!
Recommend reading highly!!

Restore my magic, find the mages, save magic.
Cade is back. After finding out her parents are connected to the loss of powers, and a certain dragon has made his choice, Cade has to choose to continue the search or give up. How could she let everyone down after finding out everything she knows. A shifty fox had come in to the mix, and are teachers people you can trust at Blakemore? Sometimes you have to venture in to the dark to find the answers.

I'm so glad I read book one and two back to back, but I don't want to wait for three. I love Cade and her friends. Especially Kurt.

I voluntarily review an ARC.
This is the second book of the Blakemore Academy series, the books should be read in order.
The second book is almost better than the first one and continues right where we left without missing a beat. I just love this series, the interesting reliable characters, the tension, friendships, action and romance. Last but not least the fluent writing style and impeccable spelling.
There are evil forces and turns you won't expect. But there are also forces the evil ones don't expect.
I recommend this page turner to everyone who likes supernatural tales.

I stayed up late finishing this one because I was so into it. Lots of intrigue. Likable but imperfect characters. A ton of questions about who to trust and who not to trust - and just enough resolution to make me not annoyed while still being eager to read the third book in the series.

The supernatural elements are also really well done and play well with the traditions of books before them while also introducing new option for how vampires, shifters, and other magical creatures work.

Keep an eye on Rafe - no spoilers! - he's super interesting.

Highly recommended.
