Louise Marley's first collection includes ten science fiction and fantasy stories. Due to Marley's background as a concert opera singer, many stories have music at their heart.

Wow. Cover & design look almost self-published or indie, and there are a few typos. But these stories are definitely strong enough that one can read this as if it were vetted by a big professional publisher. And they have been published before... I wish more SF writers of short pieces would make collections, as Marley did, because otherwise how would we find these treasures?
Music, yes. Also a sort of time travel, some that speak to feminism, some inspired by Marley's connection with ranching in Montana even.
And yes, so far not a clunker in the bunch. Some are lighter, some more intense, some a bit weird, but all a joy to read. Pretty sure I'm going to have to set it aside for a few years, come back for a reread, and only then offer it out on paperbackswap.... --- Ok done.
Yup. Deserving of much better publicity. Definitely speculative fiction, definitely short stories, which I know are obstacles for a lot of readers... but imo they are of such quality, and provide so much pleasure, I think they would appeal more widely.
A solid collection of short stories. Some pretty evocative ones as well as some hum drum. Still, if you like short stories that run from speculative fiction to pure sci-fi, this is a good collection. Several of them revolve around classical musicianship - I have to imagine that Louise Marley has done that at some point in her life.
