This joke book is for RPG (Role Playing Game) players. Otherwise you might not be into jokes like, “Why did the barbarian add a story to his house? He wanted to gain a level.” You can roll your d6 to generate an orc tribe name, or a 1d8 to fill in the blanks for a Tragic Backstory. According to the book, there is a grand total of 335 jokes, 17 tables, and 117 sidebars containing snide commentary and further information about the jokes.
The jokes are pretty funny but are targeted to a specific audience. There are several with sexual connotations, so bear that in mind, though for a joke book, they showed a lot of restraint. If your idea of a good time is to roll dice and fight dwarves, then this is truly your book, because “the best selling book in the forest is an elf-help book.”
I would do 3.5 stars if possible. My general scale is: 1= hated, 2= didn't enjoy but finished or mostly did, 3= solid meh, finished or close and didn't specifically dislike, 4= enjoyed reading, 5= loved it. By that scale, I enjoyed some of these jokes, but there were also several pages at a time of "solid meh." The tables to roll for seemed like a great idea at the outset, (cheese related monster puns, sure, funny!), But then they included a d10 version of the pretty out dated "take my wife" joke. That was a pretty solid wasted page.
I like a joke book that someone who loves the topic can love, and someone only just interested in the topic can enjoy and become more interested. This wasn't really written for people just discovering RPGs, you had to already be a part of the niche community.
A really good joke book especially for those who play rpgs like Dungeons and Dragons as most of the jokes are related to that. Some really good puns and also really cool idea where some you roll for a part of a joke kind of like a mad libs type thing. This will also be really funny to have with a group of friends.
A cute roleplaying-themed joke book. It's excellent for the DnD or Pathfinder fans in your life, especially the younger or younger at heart. I found it at a discount and it is something I wish I had picked up more of for gifts for friends and family.
This one brought a lot of giggles. The jokes were, for the most part, absolute gems. Corny, punchy, and just so much fun. Could have done without the fill in the blanks with dice rolls, but other than that - this is quality humor!
This is an early birthday present to myself. It is a geeky collection of DnD specific jokes. Not high literature by any means, but fun and entertaining.
