The battle lines have been drawn. My fellow scions and I stand on one side, and the power-hungry barons on the other.
The scheme they've put in motion could shatter both our community and the nonmagical world. Neither I nor the guys I love are willing to let that happen, but with the barons throwing both laws and parental bonds aside, we're short on options. The fate of our world could come down to a literal battle for our lives, one I'm not sure we have any hope of winning.
Will the strength we've found together and the allies we've managed to gather be enough to carry us through? How close to the barons' level will I have to sink to have a chance at victory? As our time runs out, the only thing we can count on is that blood will be spilled—and lots of it.
*Vicious Arts is the eighth and final book in a university-age paranormal academy series. Expect magical villainy, a tough heroine who bends to no one’s will, a dollop of steam, and a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance where there'll be no choosing required.*

Not a bad ending to a solid 3 star series. This was a series I randomly found on Kindle Unlimited and started it before realizing it was an 8 book trek lol. But it ended up being a fun journey with this group.
When I started this final book, I thought there's no way this story can wrap up here. Too much has happened or will be happening to fit in a book. But I stand corrected. Chase managed to give closure to many of the plots that followed this series. And even if it was a bloody one, it was an ending.
I found that I ended up really liking Rory. While her tenacity kind of drove me nuts in the beginning, I loved the way she stood up to her mother and the other barons over what she felt was right. She also gained a following, not through fear or hate, but through education and empathy. She didn't want to lead but kind of grew into the role of leader with her strong support system.
And what a support system it was. While I wasn't in love with all of the boys - Jude and Connar just weren't my cup of tea - I loved how each one fit a different part of her and also how they all supported her. Declan and Malcom were the front runners and I found myself just wanting more moments with them. All of the boys had obstacles to overcome with their families and while I didn't expect , the conflict made for some good drama.
I've never read reverse harem books before - or even harem books, if I'm being honest - but I never felt that the sexual relationships overpowered the main story and for that I give props.
Book: Vicious Arts Author: Eva Chase Recommend: Maybe Spice: 🌶️ Age recommendation: 16-30+ Years
My feelings:
OHHHHH was I over this book series when I got to the end. Maybe if I had not read it one after the other it would be different im not sure. But I was determined to finish the series.
As for the story line, it was ok. I think with it being for young adults I felt like I was watching a tv series that you know should have finished 2 seasons ago, but was to reluctant to give up. They all had HEA in the end. Which was predictable. They were all sooooo in with each other at the end of the book that there just wasn’t enough drama to keep the book alive.
Do I recommend….. maybe. Maybe don’t read it one after the other. Or maybe it was just my age. Not sure. The first few books were good, and had drama, these I felt like we were just beating around the bush to get to the end.
“How many odds had we beaten to end up in this place together, with so much devotion and passion between us? More than I suspected I could count. But here we were, and here I knew we’d stay, standing together for both the people we were meant to lead and for each other, with all of our hearts.”

HOLY DAMN! What a rollercoaster of a book. I was already kind of expecting it, after the last book that really set us on a dangerous path, but even I couldn't imagine how dangerous the path would be and how much would really happen in this last book. From start to finish there were literally hardly any moments to catch our breath and I loved it, I loved each and every second of it.
Everything that happens in this book, politically, has been built up so amazingly well. It started slowly and subtle until it grew and grew and in this book it exploded in the most horrible way possible. There were moments making me literally sick to my stomach and quite soon I realized there was only one possible solution to get out of this mess and I was right. Was it pretty? Far from it. But in the case of political battles and children wanting to make the world a better place, it's okay.
It's amazing to see how Rory and her guys have grown into their powers and have grown into the wonderful persons they want to be. Each in their own way they have been working towards this book, where they find their own place in the world and show everyone in the fearmancer community what kind of leaders they wanna be. And they establish who they want to be to each other for the rest of their lives.
And although there is a lot of action going on, the book doesn't forget its emotional impact. There are really powerful scenes, especially from Jude and Connar, about realizing your own worth and accepting help when needed. Apart from that, I loved how Chase acknowledged that after a lot of events people would need mental help and that the character spoke so openly about it and the effect it had. You rarely see that in books and I loved it.
I really hope that Chase will return to this world and show us the lives of other characters, but the ending of this story was breathtaking and totally worth reading all those books.
dnf @ 20% 7/15/24 sighhhhhh from like book 6 i started pushing bc i rlly wanted to see this series through but i am so bored & have other books i wanna get to rn overall i’d give the series like a 2.5⭐️ idk it started off so strong but i feel like it could’ve been about 4-5 books instead of 8
the relationships were fine i didn’t rlly have a problem w them or it being a reverse harem, but i don’t think i’ll be finding much abt this series memorable by like the end of the year
also malcom & rory potentially being half-siblings was sooooo random. i looked ahead & don’t think they are, but both of them saying they wouldn’t give up their relationship if they were just pushed me over the edge i couldn’t continue😭😭😭😭
also all the developments w her mother & the other barons felt like it was leaving book 8 to quickly wrap things up & yea i just don’t care enough to see how everything got resolved🥲 also saw in another review that she ends up marrying all 4 of them?😭so good for her ig
The conclusion to this series has some thrilling action and a few surprises. I'm not entirely sure what the barons thought their plan would lead to but uh... there are 8 billion humans and how many of you? And the humans have far more dangerous weapons... how you gonna shield against an RPG or even a frickin' nuke? And there's joymancers ready to throw down with you too? And what about the mages outside the states, they seem to be more mellow about the whole joy/fear rivalry? I don't know how they could've seen it coming out well for the evil fearmancers at all. But I guess that was the point: that they've lost all perspective.
Anyway, I liked Rory and her guys and enjoyed spending time with them, but the series is really far too long. It could've made a nice tight four volume series.
I didn't want to write a review until I finished the series
The entire story was good and I enjoyed it, but it was significantly longer than it needed to be. The story could have been told in half of the number of books or less. The books that took almost the entire thing to solve one tiny little problem was ridiculous especially since it was only supposed to be a week in time. A story this drawn out will lose readers because it gets boring rather quickly. I also didn't care for a summary of the whole series so far at the beginning of every single book. That's so condescending! I give the author credit that this series was still significantly better than her Dark Valkyrie series. That was so awful from characters to story I never read past the first one.
This was the perfect ending to the Royals of Villain Academy series. I felt the pacing of this book matched the intensity of the first, and might be one of the standouts of the series.
I really have enjoyed seeing the growth in the characters’ relationships over the course of the 8 books. From enemies, to friends, to lovers, to lifetime partners. Plus, the s3xy scenes have always been hot and just got hotter.
Since I listened to the audiobook version, I need to remark how well the narrators did bringing the characters to life. I enjoyed listening to their voices and felt they did justice to each character they represented. I recommend the listen.
When I first started this series I was worried about making an 8 book commitment and wondered how the author was going to maintain this story. I am so pleasantly surprised, each book just got better and better and I became so invested in the characters. I'm so glad I've found this Canadian author and plan on leaping into a whole new series right away.
A fitting end to the series. The bad guys eventually got their just desserts and Rory and her guys got their hard earned HEA.
Their paths to one another and to the people they will strive to be in the future, we’re tumultuous at best. So many times over the course of the series and in this book, I wanted to smack characters upside their heads and knock some sense into them.
The scions were able to bring together their allies, help and protect the Naries, and start to rebuild their lives for a better future. Not everything went as I had hoped, but this book was still a fantastic read.
I’m torn about this series. I enjoyed it but I feel like it didn’t have to last as long as it did. Some of the random conflicts that arose to make it longer took away from the cool story at its core. I still liked it though but I doubt it’s gonna be a series I ever reread.
Great ending to this series. I love how Rory was able to stay true to herself as she dealt with everything being thrown at her. I love how they all band together to make a better future for all.
Ended up rereading this series because I couldn’t remember if I’d actually finished it.
First half starts strong and primarily focuses on the School, the bullying, and the character relationships.
For me the stars start to drop as the series gets more and more into the politics of the magical world and then just keeps going... and going... and going.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
I finished this series. It was...not great. Fun, yes. I liked the original idea of the series, but in the end, it was ridiculous. The sex scenes, ridiculous. I had no idea 18+ reverse harem was a “thing” but I guess I now know. Each character had the same voice. I found it often difficult to remember who was voicing the chapters because they all sounded the same. However, I am glad I finished and read what happened. This is like the CW of books. Sexy, ridiculous fluff.
Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
This is it, Vicious Arts is the final book in the Royals of Villain Academy and it was glorious, it was everything I could have wanted in the final book in the series.
Rory and the rest of the scions are up against the barons in this one last battle. The Barons have caused total chaos, the lines have been drawn and fearmancers have chosen a side. The barons are planning something big and the scions are preparing for war, the only question is who will come out on top, either way, nothing will be the same again.
This series was so new to me, I never read a bully romance before and it was a little difficult for me and I hated all of the love interest (at first but by the end, I was swooning) and this is also my first book about mages. So a lot of things were new to me, I loved the academy setting, the magic system and falling for the guys that manage to work their way into Rory's heart. Rory was one of those characters who is pure of heart and puts everything on the line to defend the defenseless, which endures me to her so much. I loved going on this journey with her and I will miss her and the guys so much.
There really isn't much to say about the story without spoiling everything but I can say that it was entertaining from beginning to end, with steamy scenes, surprising plot twists and an ending that made me have all of the feelings. While I do still have some questions (me being me, of course, I do) Vicious Arts was everything I could have wanted for the series ending and I am so grateful that I got to read the story. The politics and family drama, the bonds that were form between Rory and the guys, and the killer plots, this series was just so good. I will miss these characters but I am super excited to see what Eva writes next.
Well, that’s it. It’s officially over. It’s kind of sad to know that, after eight books, we’re leaving these characters behind. Their story’s done. With that being said though, you can at least leave with the knowledge that they got the ending they deserved. Eva Chase has never been one to fall short at the last hurdle, and this time was no different. I’m sad that the series has ended, but at the same time, I’m happy, because the ending felt right. It was true to all the themes that preceded the previous books, and it was true to the characters.
The only slight disappointment I felt was that the ultimate climax seemed to be over too quickly. There were multiple conflicts throughout this final book, which I enjoyed, but, because of that, the final one didn’t feel any different. It didn’t have the intense build-up to the explosion of a climax, but rather had little ones dispersed throughout. And while I enjoyed the increased action in this one, the lack of a big build-up, and the fact that it was over really quickly, meant it didn’t really feel like an ending. This was a conflict that had slowly been brewing for the entire series, so the fact that it was over really quickly felt kind of anticlimactic to me.
So, while I’m sad that it’s over, and would have liked the final conflict to last a bit longer, I was really happy with the events and how it ultimately ended. I guess there’s nothing to do now but wait and see what Eva Chase comes up with next because from previous experience, I can guarantee that it will have well-rounded characters, excellent writing, and a wholly original plot that leaves you wanting more.
Well, well, this series is done. I'm not sure if I liked the ending. Like yeah I'm all for a mini marriage ceremony and binding your lives together and committing to one another. On the other hand, this entire series reads more like an urban fantasy than a romance in that its so plot heavy and the romance is an important part but not the most important part. It feels like you could take out the romantic aspect of it and have the guys go from bullying Rory to being her best friends and the story wouldn't have changed much at all. Something I really would have loved to see is all the barons and baron-heirs working together to pass an important law or undo the damage their parents did or something like that.
Either way, as always, this installment was super enjoyable, super fast paced. It feels like a lot happened, and everything happened as I wanted it to regarding the past barons. There were points where I thought some things were going to go a different way. For example, that whole thing with the horror book. I just thought that was going to go a different direction. Of course, the whole point of reading books other people wrote is that I didn't write them so no complaints, just a note.
I will however say, if you're reading this series for every scene to be about on screen romantic development, this probably isn't your cup of tea. Of course there is character development on screen and romantic development at that. But in my experience that was kind of overshadowed a lot of the time by the plot movements and drama.
Would probably reread, but not as often as I'd reread some of my favorites.

Okay okay okay, I’ve got this!! This final book DID NOT disappoint!! I mean WOW! I loved everything about it. I loved the protest, I loved the action, and I loved the community coming together. I just loved it so much, I can’t even express how much!!!
Rory and the guys are literally perfect. They stick together, not just because of Rory, but because of how close everyone is with each other. The scenes we got with the group, I LOVE them. I couldn’t get enough. I know I said I didn’t pick a favorite, but let’s be real, Jude owns more of my heart. Speaking of which, the one thing I wish the book would’ve done was to tell me who his father was. I thought once we met his uncle and saw the pianos that it might’ve revealed him, but it never did.
I also just found out that there is a spin-off with Cressida and Noah. I literally can’t wait for this series to finish. I know I will love it and I know I will love seeing glimpses or hearing about the lovely 5. Who knows what will happen. I hope for maybe babies, but who knows? If you’ve made it here somehow and haven’t read this series, GO READ IT!! Thank you so much Eva Chase for writing this amazing story and sharing it with us. I will hold it close to my heart.
I don't usually commit to series that are so long because so often they feel tired and drawn out. This series kept me on my toes the entire time. The character development and plot was so intricate that every word felt completely organic and necessary. The FMC was perfectly flawed and each harem member had their own focus so no character felt less than the other. There were also so many side characters that were still well fleshed out characters which gave this story even more fullness. I enjoyed the pace of the books because it didn't cover huge spans of time which gave the story more realism while not rushing any of the plot. I also really enjoyed the ending. It was succinct and felt like the only way the series should have ended.
If you want a unique take on magic and a long, in depth story you can get lost in, I fully recommend this series.
There's also plenty of fantastic sexy times if that's what's most important to you ;)
Rory and the fellow scions are still on the one side with the power-hungry barons on the other in this dramatic final book in the series. Can Rory and the men she loves prevent the catastrophe that is building so that is doesn't shatter not only their community of magic holders but the non-magical world too?
This was a fitting final story in the series where there was a lot of drama, danger, plotting and betrayal. Through everything, Rory and the guys stood strong and worked with both the magical and non-magical communities in order to find a way to stop the madness started by the barons. Success will mean they can live their lives together in a way that they would like even if they have to take some extreme actions to get there. Well written and very enjoyable I found myself addicted again and reading faster and faster. My only sorrow is that this is the last we will see of them. Contains some sexual content.
Total awes!!! This series conclusion was so very well crafted!! It gave me all the things!! There are plenty of heartbreaking moments and some events came to pass that I knew were coming, yet it was wholly unique and absolutely memorable! Ms. Chase has once again blown me away by her creative brilliance and her capacity to accurately portray those human emotions that make a series exceptional. Rory and her fellow scions take on their destiny and embrace the change that must come. With a few twists thrown in, this will keep you glued to its pages until the very end!! The last chapter was ah-mazing and I was squealing and fangirling my heart out! I'm so sad to have said goodbye though!! I so want more! I still refuse to pick a favorite guy, they are all delicious and their individual sensitivity makes me sigh. Bravo to this imaginative author who never fails to carry me away on an adventure that engages me body and heart!
Book 8 in the series . I was totally loving this whole series . Eva Chase is a fantastic author that has strong hero’s and a strong heroine. I like how the characters support each other . Will always find a way to combat anything that they face . In this final Book it picks up where book 7 ends. Rory and the Baron Blackstone, Rory mother kills , murders Connor mother . Jude and Rory approach Judes uncle to support the Scions against the Barons. There are only 2 barons left and they both are planning something huge . The fearmansers are divided between the Barons and their children ( the Scions ). Connor gets great news about his brother, Connors brother was able to get healed . There is a lot going on , lots of twits and turns. The ending is a true love story between Rory and her men .
Stephen Dexter and Meg Sylvan performance was fantastic. I was able to tell each character by their tone
Tensions are high. Danger is everywhere. Even so I didn't expect things to come to this. Once again the thing I liked most about this series is the relationship between Rory & the four male Scions. This has now been extended to include other members from each of their families which adds a new dynamic as they show their strengths & how they all complement each other. I like how they were welcomed into the tight fold. Rather saddened to reach the end of the final book. Would love a follow up book a couple of years down the line to show how things have progressed & developed. Are the 5 of them still in a relationship together or have they formed new personal partnerships to have heirs & how does that effect their dynamic? Have the younger ones graduated & how are they with their magic? How does the new "Pentacle" divide the work & rule their people? So many questions i'd like to see answered. PLEASE do another book.
I'm glad to stumble into this author because her books are complete series and mostly have four books, in which the longer the stories go, the more I will enjoy! However, her books' downside is that they all have the same reverse-harem genre, and every time I read this type of book, it still weirded me out. BUT, because they have fantasy/paranormal elements, I can accept that.
This is my first time reading from this author, and I'm already impressed. The challenges, dramas, friendships, nemeses, and battles, followed by the conclusion, are all wonderfully written. I think the characters are all well described too! Having binge-reading this series, I can easily distinguish each character, and I agreed with Rory's opinion in the last chapters during the vows. They summed up nicely about the characters.
Overall, it's a lovely read, and I will continue reading all of her completed series. The only problem I have now is deciding which one to read next! 😂
The end of the series don’t disappoint. Rory and her guys are in a very difficult position, the barons are getting crazier with their plans, they have lost their minds. The situation is definitely has gotten very dangerous. However, the scions have a lot of support from mages and nanies and have proven themselves to them that they deserve their position as barons. I think they have spark hope to everybody that they can get a better life and they will rule them with kindness and not be as cruel as their parents are. Everything that happened in this book was so crazy to me… I will admit that I might have cried on some parts. And some characters have surprised me in a good way. The only thing that has stopped me from giving this book five stars is that we never got an answer about if Malcom and Rory are siblings. In conclusion, the end of this series has been so good and an amazing ending to the story!
So this series was pretty great. I liked a lot of the characters and the magic and culture of the setting were interesting. The series is definitely spicy with great sex scenes but unlike some series it's not the main focus and doesn't derail or replace the plotline (so better than later anita blake books). I love the non possessive relationship dynamics. I also like the interactions and support between the guys instead of just focusing on Rorys relationship with them individually.
The reason it wasn't 5 star series for me was each book felt short, especially the earlier ones. This really felt like reading 4 or 5 books not 8. Some end very abruptly and i felt they should have combined them instead of cutting off, luckily you can marathon them if you have kindle unlimited. I was also hoping for something with the mom at the end, like a redemption arc. I'm noticing awful parents seems to be a repeated theme by this author.
