Not enough story and too many sex scenes

It was repetitive with chief Drokal and his human bride having a physical chemistry but the emotional chemistry was missing. The story never elaborated why Chief Drokal basically ignored his bride either. It was an ok tale but I don't really feel inspired to read the next story. I will because the story had potential. I hope the stories get better and there's more character development.

I felt like nothing got resolved. There wasn’t much personal growth from neither of the main characters. Heck all they did was the hanky-panky and at the end of the story she still got pregnant and became a breeder.

Sold to the babymaker de Luna Voss Serie Kyrzon Breeding Auction libro 1

Argumento:

No vi crecimiento.

If this was a college thesis, it would score a C+, maybe a B- depending on the weather.
The idea was fantastic, but the execution did not bring out it's full potential.
If you're here for the porn, then you're in luck! Sex is great.
but if you are here for the plot as well, then you might become frustrated from the plot holes.

This book is told in Cleo's POV.
Not gonna lie I was hoping for some POV from Drokal's side, it would makeit more interesting.
You do get a small preview of the pairing for Book 2.
When I was reading, I was quite confused at start because the book never mentioned about translation chips/technology and yet Kyrzonians and humans spoke in common tongue.
PLOT HOLE ALERT

For the sake of human prosperity and safety, the humans and the Kyrzonians Clans have made a treaty; one in every ten human woman(through lottery draw) would be auctioned to the clans when they reach 20 years of age as breeding brides. All the women are aware of this since they are 13 years old. They know that if they are lucky(or unlucky) enough to be chosen that they are doing what's left of their human settlement a great service since it provides the rest with energy resource and protection of the clans.
PLOT HOLE ALERT

I've seen comments regarding the "emotional" connection of Drokal and Cleo. Yes, that's because the book is short and the ending is rushed. (see end of review for my spoilers)

IT MIGHT IRK some readers: Human woman are seen as more suited for breeding instead of battle like Kyrzonian woman due to their weak build. Thus most clans are ruled by a Chief without a Queen figure because for many, many years their birth mothers are all human.

Honestly by the time I got to the part where they mentioned "Queen," I'm just like OKAY, I bet my money Cleo (full name Cleopatra) gonna prove herself Queen worthy. C'mon, CLEOPATRA. If that name isn't the biggest foreshadow then idk what is.

Almost every time these two have sex, this dialogue will be there (or something similar):

LMAO idk that just made me laugh kinda hard. xD

I feel the ending is a little rushed. okay I lied, was REALLY rushed.

Honestly I feel this book have so much more potential and could've been longer to explain a few things and map things out for the following books.
Especially some characters, like Thomas. I'm pretty sure someone who practically raised the female lead and taught her their life skill that helped her save her mate should give more credit than a few sentences in the first chapter as "a middle age dude whom I have a supposedly have a deep family bond with" and never mentioned again in the rest of the book.
idk if I should read book two just to be disappointed..

This book went exactly how I had predicted whilst reading it.
The more I read, the more questions I got lol

**** Slight Spoiler****
This was a very interesting story. Cleo a human was set to be auctioned off as is the custom. On auction day she is purchased by Cheif Drokal for an extremely high sum, which causes a fight in the auction room. Though scared, Cleo finds herself attracted to the Chief. The story goes from there and basically this warrior race think humans are useless and fragile. Cleo decides to leave but after overbearing her mate has been captured she heads home. Heat level was 🔥🔥🔥. This is a new to me author, but I will definitely check out more of her books.

While the overall action of Sold to the Babymaker is interesting, there were just way too many gaps in the plot and in characterization for me. We're told human women never return to their settlements after being bought by a Kyrzon warlord. But our heroine Cleo just blithely goes back at one point to see a friend, because she thinks she can leave (after spending the first part of the book thinking how she can never return). And then she returns, with impunity! Cleo somehow knows how to fire all weaponry when she's only fired one weapon.

And Cleo and our hero Drokal never really *talk* to one another. They just have sex, comfort one another, Cleo asks a few questions about his culture, and that's about it. I never got the sense that each learned about the other as people, as individuals. They never discuss her breeder status, or what she'll do in his community. There's so little time spent on this that at the end of the book I truly had no idea who these characters *were.*

So some interesting action in the story, but the character buildup is sorely lacking. Check out Voss' Vostra Crime Lords series instead. Much better development with a fated-mates connection.

This book was not it. Sex scenes meh, character development meh, plot meh, everything was just borderline bad tbh.
Like human women have been sold to these tribes for a long time, it would make no sense that at least some of the tech on the tribes ship wouldn’t have already been used or the fact the chief thought sex face to face was this whole brand new idea, like what, u telling me not a single other human women that’s ever been sold hasn’t had sex face to face or something, I just can’t.
And then the whole transition to the tribe men just listening to her when before the battle they treated her like some breeding machine. Like she went from one person to another by the end.The characters in this book felt so plastic and just not written very well tbh. Luna Voss other books are way better, with actual character development and characters with personality, and 🔥 sex scenes. This book just isn’t one of her best in my opinion.

Willing to do her duty but…?

Cleo knows she’ll be auctioned off to a kyrzon male to breed. But the auction process and what happens afterward is a mystery. Chief Drokal knows immediately this is the woman he wants for his mate. Will he succeed and will he be able to keep her? Beware the creatures and the rival tribes!

Enjoyable

An easy to read enjoyable alien romance. Cleopatra is auctioned off in the human bride auction and is set to become an alien bride. She shows them that while a human woman may be small she can be mighty.

This book is entirely written in the first person - yes, there are conversations and interactions between the two main characters; however, all of the actions, emotions and dialogue is experienced through her eyes, her thoughts etc. I kept waiting to hear what he was thinking, interpreting etc. so I found this unbalancing. Two different races share Kyrzon (new earth) humans and an alien race called Kyrzonians (made up of different clans, battle-hardened 7ft tall, overly-muscular alpha males who answer to Chiefs). In order to live harmoniously and have protection from the vicious wildlife the founding humans struck a deal with the Kyrzonians - 1 of 6 females will be auctioned at the age of 20 to the highest paying (hydropower is the currency) Kyrzo to be their "breeder" because the very few female Kyrozonians that exist in these tribes are no longer fertile. What I liked about this story is that the auctioned women know when they turn 13 if they will be entered into the auction, why their sacrifice is needed and what they will be "used" for. Being aware, especially for Cleo, makes her determined not to be "just a breeder" but a contributing member of this warring society. Yes, there is a moment in the book where after she mates with her "husband," she questions the decision, but it's not done childishly, I least not for me. It was more like she got caught up in the moment and with the breaking of dawn went "ah s*&^." I strongly think there is potential in this series, and if the writer takes a few moments to read her reviews, the next book should be more of a success.

Disappointed & Frustrated
I thought this book(series) was going to be amazing after I read description, I was left wholly underwhelmed. I like the idea of these stories & it has potential but writing was flat, very one dimensional. Seems like it was released as a rough draft, not an edited book by author kinda pedestrian to be honest. Theres no character development, doesnt flow right, seems to start an idea but never quite follow through. Example: she says she's unhappy, pissed off that she doesnt fit in & is ignored by people & sometimes mate. She also believes he doesn't respect her and shes basically a womb & pet. So after this is said you'd think they'd discuss this, build on it, something but nope it's never mentioned again. Sex scene are literally "thrust, thrust, so tight, feels so good, done" . I really dont know what else to say I'm usually super easy to please but this was just lacking & I really feel it needs to be redone with more in depth writing.

Not the worst I’ve read, but could be better…

This started out really good. The FMC, Cleo is selected at random when she’s 13 to be auctioned as a Kyrzon bride. The auction takes place when she’s 20. So she’s had 7 years to make peace with the idea and she seems ok with it. The auction takes place, there’s a little drama, and she goes off with her new mate. Who is considerate and more refined than the caveman barbarian you’re expecting. The spicey scene was ok. A bit cringe, but ok. She seems happy with her new life. Then, out of the blue she starts talking about how she’s considering her options to leave and go back home. Huh?

First off, nowhere has it been even hinted at that the auctioned brides have a choice to return. Or that they’d even be welcomed back if they managed to do so. They are part of a treaty that’s hundreds of years old and Cleo has been raised to accept this. She DOES accept it. She’s also been treated with a great deal of kindness and consideration by her mate and the Kyrzon people (not to mention her first time with her mate has her seeing stars AND he cuddles!). There is zero motivation to make her rethink her previous attitude of acceptance and make her want to “escape”.

She then decides to stick around and almost as soon as they get to the capitol, her mate, the clan Chief, needs to go defend their territory. Leaving her stuck at home to figure things out. There was SO much room here for character development and conflict. She’s clearly the subject of jealous ire by the barren Kyrzon women. She’s an outsider, an alien, AND she’s in an unearned position of authority in a warrior culture. There are SO MANY ways Cleo could have been challenged and therefore earned her place, but…no.

Cleo just ends up wandering around being bored for three days. She then gets in a snit over being “ignored” by her mate (who again, is the CHIEF) and decides to go home. No one stops her and there’s only a token questioning by the group she hitches a ride with. Really?! This female who the chief paid a huge amount of money for isn’t guarded? At minimum Given a guide to make sure she doesn’t hurt herself? She’s potentially carrying his baby and these random grunts she hitches a ride with aren’t worried about the consequences of taking her with them?

She gets home and overhears that her mate was captured and then does another 180 and heads back. She revives some ancient tech they had laying around and uses it to defend the capitol calling it her home. (Since WHEN?!) she then takes off to rescue her mate (alone) and finds a battle at the enemy stronghold where the clan has already gathered to rescue their chief. She uses the tech she has to help and then goes behind enemy lines to rescue her mate. She does so, and suddenly she’s telling him how she “lead” the battle to rescue him.

I got to the end, but there were enough plot holes to make Swiss cheese jealous and the main female character REALLY needs to be more consistent.

All that being said, the bones are there for a truly gripping story. I think the author just needs a bit more experience. And a better editor.

Why did I do this to myself?

Honestly I was expecting to have fun with this, and I genuinely didn't. The first half was alright at least, wavering on a 2.5 stars because it was somewhat interesting (odd at times but interesting).

What I wasn't a fan of was the sexism. Obviously, this is a fictional book and surely the male alien species sees humans as weak but it was just icky at times, especially when the main character is fine with being addressed this way but then suddenly later on being upset about the idea of it (yeah it's as confusing as it sounds).

Example's from the book said by the 'alien' love interest:

"You are not a Kyrzon, you are a human. Your purpose is not to make battle, but to make babies."

and

"We value strength. Humans are better suited to breeding.”

Lovely isn't it? And she doesn't even correct or challenge him when he says these things, as if she just accepts she can't fight because she's a human who's only meant to have his babies. How attractive.

Later on in the book *spoilers ahead* when they have their Kyrzon marriage ceremony, she wakes up to an empty bed and suddenly has an epiphany out of the blue. After spending days with this man and not having a single problem with being used by him or bought at an auctioning ring, she thinks this:

"Is this, then, to be my life as Drokal’s mate? To have him not take my opinions seriously, leave me alone whenever he pleases, and basically treat me as though my only purpose is to give him babies?

Yes. Exactly that. I'm not sure how it took her so long to figure this out. She was literally BOUGHT by him to have babies, that's it. Sadly though she ends up running off to get away from him after this, but turns back when he's put in danger and completely forgets all her doubtful thoughts of him (this is never addressed later on).

To be honest at this point in the story I skimmed it, because I didn't care anymore. I'd rather her go on her own and take care of herself, but she got back with him and ended up pregnant (much to his enjoyment I'd predict).

Just a bit too off to me. It had potential but there wasn't enough pages and development, nor was there enough character development. I'd like to have at least seen more, and had more time seeing them actually talk it out and communicate. It was just a bit too flat for me.

Too much tell

This was not really sci-fi or least not to me. It didn’t seem very fleshed out. It was too much tell and not enough show. And I really wanted this to be dual POV. We only get Cleo’s POV, not Drokal’s. For some reason I didn’t get a sense of the world this author was trying to create. It reminded me of an old looney tunes cartoon where Daffy Duck gets hold of the pencil and starts drawing his own background. It’s not very detailed just sort of stiff and awkward, not a lot of detail or a sense of life. Also wish there was more information on what it was like being a young girl of 13 being chosen in the lottery to be auctioned off at age 20 to a Kyrzon warrior. Like nothing is given. A lot of the plot just seems to come out of the blue. There’s not a lot of anything going on for a good chunk of the story. Cleo was a good character. At times she seemed to be off put by being a bride, rightly so. And at times she was like whatever. I was like wha? If there was more insight into her character I’d maybe understand her better. Instead I just had to be like ok she’s only 20. She’s trying to find herself and place. Be understanding. All in all it wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t developed enough for me. It was a nice touch that she became a total bad @$$ warrior queen, but it just came out of left field.

💢 This is my first book from this author, it won’t be my last! Fan-F******-Tastic there is everything in this mind blowing book - Adventure, Survival, Fear, Action Packed, Loyalty, Hate, Love Wowzer! Definitely a Must Read!

🔹️ Cleopatra is human, she is being auctioned off when she gets there though she has eyes for one handsome warrior who happens to bid on her for many power cells. Life takes a turn for her at first it’s lonely but soon she is fighting with he handsome warrior.

🔹️ Chief Drokal of Clan Drokal has bought a bride. He has outbid his enemy Chief Broga of Clan Broga, who want Chief Drokal’s Warriors and his land. He just didn’t count that the beautiful human wife of the chief could fight.

☄️ This review is my own opinion, if this authors books continue as book one there will be one more that I will love to read her books.

Interesting read

I found this single POV alien bride romance very interesting and surprisingly romantic. Cleo has known since she was 13 that she would be sold at auction to a Kryzon warrior so she has accepted this as her reality and isn’t resistant to the event.

She is bought by a very well known war chief who humans and Kryzon’s alike fear. Her experiences with the Kryzon’s isn’t what she expected and she is actually pleasantly surprised with what she discovers living among this tribe.

The world the author created is described in enough detail to give the reader a strong understanding yet not drag the story down. The story is fast paced and engaging. Cleo is a strong woman who stands up for herself. Chief Drakol is a war chief yet surprisingly mannered. I expected his character was going to be a brute, but he’s actually pretty refined. His treatment of Cleo is respectful and passionate.

Overall this is a quick and enjoyable read that begins a series I think will be very entertaining and worth reading in it’s entirety.

Cringe worthy title 😖

Soooo I wasn’t expecting much more than cheap alien smut, and at first it went a little over said expectations, but even though the author came up with some pretty decent ideas plot and world-building wise, she came short on character development.

Cleo starts wimpy and resigned, and by the end she suddenly does a 180 and goes all Sheena on their enemies’ behinds. And the guy, I don’t even remember his name—that’s how forgettable he was—might as well be called Rock, he had the personality of one.

Everything was going sort of fine when it suddenly became rushed and absurd, there’s lots of unanswered questions, and I imagine the author expect’s us to come to the obvious conclusions, but IDK it felt lazy.

Eh, I won’t recommend it but neither would I discourage anyone from borrowing it from KU, IMO it’s not buy worthy but, who am I to tell you how to waste your money?

It's okay

No plot spoilers, no potential triggers.
There are some grammatical and editorial errors but nothing to get irritated about.
The characterisation is okay but I wasn't able to gain a connection with either lead characters.
The plotline is the usual trope of a tribute bride sold at auction, obviously to a feared warrior.
Of course emotions get involved and there is the usual angst before the HEA.
The writing isn't bad, just a bit naive.
There are some sex scenes and some swearing.
I don't think I will be purchasing more by the author, I gave it a go but this genre really isn't my thing. The whole idea of being bought with the specific intent of pregnancy and used as a brood mare contradicts every feminist instinct I have, and I seriously struggled with the genre, I actually felt a sense of betrayal to every woman who has ever fought for equality.
But, that's just my opinion.
For fans of the genre I think they would like the book.

Nope

This book doesn’t have an original thought or even an interesting concept but is fairly well-written compared to the other books I have read on kindle unlimited. Lazy, uninspired writing.

I have read a more interesting version of this story before. We ALL have (unless you live under a rock, in a cave, in the ocean). I made an association between Drokal and Khal Drogo immediately. I’m assuming this was done intentionally so the writer didn’t have to develop him. At all. So, if you are just here for some sexy time starring Mr. Momoa then dive right in. But be careful, the water is very, very shallow.

I almost stopped reading at the beginning when it was just two girls...gazing at the stars with wonder...contemplating...which one could possibly be Earth.

YIKES.

3.5 stars not bad

This wasn’t bad but it wasn’t deep either. The story is there so it’s not just a smut book. I did like the story but in some ways I felt like the h didn’t react the way you’d expect a human to react. She hasn’t been outside of Human Territory her entire life, it also didn’t seem like her life was hard or rife with death. Yet when Drakol or how you spell it, killed someone in front of her she didn’t freak out or have any issue with it. She went on trucking like there was NOTHING traumatizing about it.

I also disliked how she felt lonely but didn’t really speak up about it before she left but then suddenly returns. We never get to see them hash it out since she gets a new status after that.

Still it’s not bad.

I enjoyed this book lots

The only thing I would say I disliked about it is how Cleo kept calling him an alien... they have been on the planet all their lives and even their ancestors. When exactly are they NOT considered aliens?? I would have also liked to see her showing her skills even before the last battle. She is extremely smart and resourceful but this book didnt focus on that much at all. The author just turned her into a sex addicted, baby making, weak woman until the last two chapters. I would have stressed more on her intelligence.

First I gave 2 stars then updated to 3 stars just because premise is interesting, and the beginning was really promising. Then everything went a bit down. Someone wrote that there was to much sex scenes and a little effort was made to get deeper in characterization of H/h. And the thing that annoys me is h whom decides to go back to humans because she thinks that H is not giving her enough attention.
Oh, come on, HE HAD TO FIGHT WITH THE ENEMY TO PROTECT HER!
And then she becomes some kind of Amazon warrior, pffff .
It had some GoT vibes , too bad author didn't put more effort.

On the Planet Kyrzon has 2 peoples living there. One is humans from earth that crash landed there and then there are the Kyrzon Warriors a people that are always fighting among themselves. They have a problem not enough females to keep their race alive. So instead of them attacking the humans an stealing the women they find another way. They draw names of females when they reach 13 and when they turn 19 or 20 they go to an auction and the warriors bid on them. Really neat idea. I liked it and each book in series is about the bride bought at action. Pretty good read.

Yikes! DNF

It was excessively cringeworthy for me. Reaching their first kiss, I was unable to continue. The forced nature of the scene was palpable, reminiscent of watching a B-movie, where their exaggerated performances make the experience uncomfortable. That 'acty' style, exaggerated and unnecessary, was pervasive throughout, creating an artificial and forced atmosphere that rendered it cringeworthy. Additionally, the main characters don’t seem believable or interesting for that matter. My two-cents.

Good

The plot was predictable and very rushed but the characters were enjoyable and fun. As I said the plot was predictable (but then again almost everything is these days). This book in my opinion could use a few chapters from the male perspective, to help explain the way women are viewed in this universe at least. It was brushed off in the book and might have helped blur the the plot for people a tad.
All in all though I enjoyed it, not a bad way to pass a couple of hours

Hot Read!

I really, really, really loved this story. There’s was everything a lover of alien-human romance could wish for. Here’s the list. Romance-check, action-check, comedic relief-check, hot steamy love making- check, sweet and kind hero-check and a badass heroine-check. This is a story that will not disappoint. Overall this was a great book and I would definitely recommend it!!

Good but....

I enjoyed the general story and premise but at the end it all felt a little rushed, Cleo went from miserably lonely and wanting to leave Drokal to suddenly bad ass heroine of the hour. I found myself saying outloud "oh come on that's just ridiculous" in the battle scene where she's telling the enemy clan to bow down before her, really?! Just needs more "padding" and I would have given it a 4 star.

a let down

it started out great women is required to got to an auction, she's paraded around on a pedestal in skimpy clothes and she is mortified! Kyrzon warriors all around mostly in darkness but she sees a huge warrior standing in the back and when the bidding begins unbelievable she goes for 100 thousand credits!
she's taken by the warrior but there's danger all around them.
But after that to me it gets boring
