One day Izzy and her friends are surprised to find that their teacher, Miss Jones, is actually being nice to them. This is the woman who was caught secretly smiling when Maisie Miller fell off her chair. There can only be one conclusion: she’s been taken over by aliens, and now she wants to make them all aliens too!
A laugh-out-loud funny debut that captures the craziness of primary school, where (of course!) your teacher might just be an alien and your best friend is frightened of peas.
As a child, Pamela was lucky enough to grow up in a house full of pets and go to a primary school where lots of spooky and weird things happened (well, in her imagination at least). As a student, Pamela’s student jobs included: fishwife, teaching basketball in America, phlebotomist and Artist Liaison for a (really bad) Abba tribute band. Now, when she’s not writing or going out and about meeting readers, Pamela teaches philosophy to teenagers.
Her top selling stories include The Spy Who Loved School Dinners which won the Blue Peter Best Story Award and My Head Teacher is a Vampire Rat which won The Children’s Book Award. Two of her books, Petunia Peri and There’s a Werewolf in My Tent, were shortlisted for the Lollies – the Laugh Out Loud Awards.
Pamela lives in Dundee with her baby boy and their two awesome cats, Bear & Carlos. If she wasn’t working as a writer and a teacher she’d like to open a luxury hotel for stray cats.
Ciekawy sposób narracji i kreacja fabuły, jako dziecko na pewno bym się zaczytywała w tej serii! Niestety jako dorosły czytelnik mam pewne wątpliwości względem rozwiązania tej zagadki
Quite interesting but the author always seems to use the same sentence starters. E.G. Anyway. Overall it was a really interesting book to read and can be enjoyable to many children.
Miałam jakieś 9 lat, kiedy przeczytałam tę książkę. Nadal pamiętam emocje, które odczuwałam podczas wertowania następnych stron. Tylko pizda da mniej niż 5 gwiazdek
This is a lovely fun book for young readers, just the right level for my seven year old daughter. She loved the plot and the humour. We'll definitely be reading more of this series.
Izzy and her friends are confused when their teacher, Miss Jones, suddenly starts being nice to them. Instead of shouting at them and making them do maths, she gives them sweets, lets them watch films, and seems strangely happy. What is going on? Izzy soon comes to the only possible conclusion: she's been taken over by aliens, and has an evil plan to make them all into aliens too.
This wacky novel by Pamela Butchart, with simple cartoon-style illustrations from Thomas Flintham, is full of fun. The bold, bright package is particularly enticing, making this a book that children will want to pick up. With quirky characters, laugh-out-loud humour and a reassuringly familiar primary school setting, it will particularly appeal to young readers with lively imaginations.
Hilarisch!
I can't believe this is the first of Pamela Butchart's books that I've read! Kids in my school have been recommending them to me for at least two years and my own daughter has a shelf full, so why have I never picked one up before? Crazy. I also can't believe it was the only one of hers in the school library! I will be picking up a full pack as soon as I have the budget. Baby Aliens was snort-out-loud funny, with strong friendships, lots of action, fun doodles which are not intrusive or distracting, and a great ending which was hardly telegraphed at all. I would have double copies of this sort of thing on my shelves in preference to the whiny, bad attitude style of Wimpy Kid/Tom Gates/Dork Diaries stuff. Best all, I know exactly which kids I'm going to put it in the hands of. Bravo, Ms Butchart, you've got a fan in this school librarian.
I'll start with a confession. I'm not 8 years old. Nowhere near in fact. There's a quote in the book, '...but I thought she still looked like she was about thirty or something old like that.' Well, I'm even older than that but it didn't stop me loving this book!
I love the conversational writing style and the laugh out loud humour throughout the story. My favourite is where Izzy falls though the bus shelter, 'the glass had been taken out because of VANDALISM'. The quirky illustrations help to break up the text and make this an appealing choice for anyone flicking through at the bookshop or library. The writing is a little old for my 6 year old but I look forward to pointing him towards this in the next few years. Then I get to enjoy it all over again.
Yet another series that I have been meaning to get stuck into, I was lucky enough to find this (finally!) on the shelf in my school library. It is so popular that it is hardly ever there! The characters and humour is great and is sure to be a hit with the target audience of 7+ readers. The illustrations add to the text and the ending is sure to satisfy any reader. A bit zany and fun and full of humour.
In the first in the Izzy series, we see how Izzy, Jodi and Zach befriend Maisie and they team up against their teacher as she acts so out of sorts they believe she's been taken over by aliens thanks to her new gifted teddy bear!
It was a short and hilarious story where even though you could see what was actually happening, it was amazing the way the children blew the situation up out of proportion!
The books in this series are so fantastically silly and fun, and this one made me and my seven-year-old laugh out loud again and again. Listening to it on audiobook made it even better because Susan Calman was PERFECT as the narrator! It was utterly hilarious, and when it finished, my 7-y-o said, "NEXT ONE!!!!" So we've dived into Book 2 (The Spy Who Loved School Dinners) already. :)
Such a funny and laugh out loud story. The characters are delightful and the plot is so full of drama; the pace is quick right till the end. I love this series about Izzy and her friends; I've bought the rest of the books. Im sure my class will enjoy these memorable and entertaining stories too!
My three daughters absolutely loved it, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it for them. It was hilarious, conversational, written in the voice of a child who is mischievous yet innocent and very intelligent
This book is great for 10-13 year olds. It has some funny jokes inside and is a great laugh. It is about a friend group and their moody teacher, who all of a sudden acts nice and fun . They hear the office ladies talking about baby aliens and it makes them think, baby aliens had got Their teacher

I was surprised by the ending ! So the most boring teacher starts to act strange and they think aliens are taking control 🤔! That's urm strange ... It turns into a happily ever after the end 😌
Så härlig, så upplyftande, så rolig, så totalt en bok i min smak! Denna bok borde inte kategoriseras i någon åldersgrupp utan borde läsas av alla. Och det finns fler delar, lyckan är total!
