The magic in our world is dying… …and it’s Ettie’s duty to save it.
As one of the last pure-blooded witches, Ettie’s committed to marrying a 100% pure warlock, even if it means giving up her romanticized view of love.
Ettie leaves everyone and everything she knows to become a mail-order bride, traveling across the country to meet the man she never met, yet is already magically bound to.
As peculiar magical events transpire, Ettie can’t help wondering if the man she married is everything she hoped for or if he hiding a secret…
Joynell Schultz spends her days working in a “reliable profession” as a veterinary pharmacist, which pays the bills, but isn’t nearly as exciting as creating alternative worlds writing speculative fiction. While shivering through the long northern Wisconsin winters with her husband, two children, and numerous pets, she enjoys reading, writing, and planning her next vacation.
I love Joynell Schultz and the quality of her writing draws me in every time. Joy's stories never fail to make me smile and this is a lovely example of what she is so good at. She always takes a fresh look at genres familiar to all of us and adds her own twist to create something completely new. Witches and Warlocks are dying out because their bloodlines are being diluted by muggles and this short story tells the tale of how a lonely witch does her duty and becomes a mail-order bride. Will she find happiness? You'll just have to read this and find out.
This is a very short, sweet read. Witches and Warlocks love freely among humans. The magic is dying, so the few poor blood magic users have to marry pure blood. The magic user web site paired up a daddy witch and a very shy warlock. Read along to see why this Warwick has performance issues and how they get everything worked out.
I don't know if this is the same book as The Mail-Order Bride since I'm unable to find an overview. If she's the same witch in both, this will be an enjoyable story; same book, different title, it is an enjoyable book.
Magical Connections - A collection of novellas, short and spin-off stories. They were well edited with interesting characters and suspense and intrigue, and touches of romance. Even the stories that were part of a series, could be read without knowing any other book from that series. There are no cliffhangers or continuations to another book for the rest of the story, while I certainly enjoyed. I'm looking forward to reading more of Ms. Schultz. 4*
Fangs & Fairy Dust - I enjoy Ms. Schultz's stories, which I discovered in Hexes and Ohs, and was happy to find this collection. This is a well written and believable novella introducing the Angels of Sojourn series, of which Blood & Holy Water is the first book. The main characters, a male vampire and a female human and her mother, are interesting and believable, along with action and dialog. It is fast paced and contains vivid descriptions making everything easy to visualize. Fortunately, it is not a cliffhanger. 4*
The Mail-Order Bride - I read this little story in Hexes and Ohs, my first by her. It's a new twist on a witch's tale, which makes for a cute and intriguing romance. Entertaining and enjoyable. 4*
Hidden - A lovely, heartwarming novella about discovery, love and kindness, and loneliness. Searching for her baby's father leads a pregnant fairy to new adventures and learning experiences, and a vast change to her life, while she shares her godmother skills without her magic. There's plenty of humor and danger included in this sweet story. 5*
The Enchanted Apothecary - A sweet, romantic, little story where while grieving for her mother, she has suspicions of a male customer and his use of dark magic, and how she confronts him. There's a good balance of suspense, intrigue and romance. The ending brings a big smile when the truth is told. This story is similar to the romantic stories of the superhero wives world. 4*
One Possible Future - I read this short in the Angels & Magic: Bonus Collection. An interesting, well written, quickly read story between a psychic and a fallen angel and the possible futures awaiting them. The next story is available in the Wings & Wonder boxed set. 4*
Bitten - A sad but heartwarming short story of a mother's love for her small son bitten by a werewolf. The lengths she went to keep him safe. This is a spinoff from the Angels of Sojourn Series. 4*

Title: The search for love . . . .
Talk about performance issues: take one “pure blood” male witch who loses all magical ability when he s nervous. Add a sassy, smart, beautiful mail order witch. Think of the courtship obstacles during the first days of marriage!
Not to mention how most women seem to have a natural way about them that can cause their mate to be nervous for no reason.
An arranged marriage! Something that could have higher stress than a regular marriage, however, these two witches are flowing together like a hand in a glove.
She s got a gentleman whether by breeding or rank and he s gotten a best friend that he can go through life with. After all aren t all women magical and bewitching?
A very enjoyable read, I ll be looking for more stories by this author.
Book review of Mail Order Witch by Joynell Schultz
“The magic in our world is dying and its Ettie’s duty to save it.”
This book is a fresh take on a genre that is very familiar to all of us though Joynell Schultz has managed to add her own flare and to create something new or at least less familiar.
This is a very short, enchanting read; I thought it was very enjoyable & fun to read and I had a really hard time putting it down. Ettie is a fun and lovable character that you just want to see continue to develop and find out what happens to.
Magic in the world has been weakening; many are pretty sure it is due to witches and warlocks inter-marrying humans. The theory is that is weakening the magic in their blood. In order to save the magic, those with pure bloodlines are strongly encouraged to marry. In order to do her part, Ettie decides to become a Mail Order Bride. You want to know more? Read it!

LOVED it! I thought it was extremely entertaining and I had a really hard time putting it down to get some sleep. It was interesting, with the main characters (Ettie and Roman, a couple of full-blood witches who came together via a mail-order arrangement) living in a setting of a non-magical community and dealing with attempting to build their lives and Ettie's business there. And the mystery of a group of kids spontaneously sprouting fluffy tails was super cute! What a creative and entertaining plot - I loved it! Ms. Schultz always creates sweet characters that are multi-faceted and easy for me to become invested in. This story is no exception! Ettie's relationships with Roman and with the members of the community were totally fun to watch. I am extremely interested in seeing what she has in store for us next in this series, as I thoroughly enjoyed this installment!
Cute little short story of a full blooded witch who is looking for a full blooded warlock as a husband, she is excited because she wants to make sure that her line stays pure and she has checked him out on the internet so she thinks she knows quite a bit about him and she is sure that he has done the same. They seem to be very attracted to each other when she gets off the train and sees him. they get to know each other during the first week, but her new husband has barely kissed her. She notices something one night and checks it out when he goes to work the next day. Ettie finds that her husband Roman has been cheating and she wants to catch him in the act. Story line was interesting. HEA. I was given a copy as a gift from the author without obligations. I am providing an honest review.
Magic in the world has been slowly getting weaker. That is because witches and warlocks were marrying humans, diluting their magical blood. In order to save magic, those with pure bloodlines are strongly encouraged to marry. Ettie believed this to be true so she agrees to be a mail-order bride.
This is a pilot episode to The Mail Order Witch series, a paranormal cozy mystery. The main characters are introduced and are interesting and well developed. Their interaction and getting to know each other is what makes this pilot grow on you. There personalities are very different but the compliment each other well. They both need to decide what they want in life. I liked the content and creativity of the storyline and am interested as to how this series develops.
OK... This was really short and after finishing it I am still hoping that there was some more to it. But the length and the narration added to the cuteness and sweetness of this story. There was something magical about this story (kind of given coz it contains witches and warlocks). Also I loved how the witch community and the mortals mingled together without any particular repulsion between them and so it was unique for me (I haven't read any stories with similar plot). So all in all I really enjoyed it!
The Mail Order Witch, Pilot Episode is a very short prequel to this great series. Ettie and Roman are both pure blood witches so to help preserve the future of magic they agree to marry. This is the beginning their relationship. It is very clear that not everyone in town approves of witches or magic and someone wants them gone. This is a charming, easy to read short story and a great introduction to all the characters in the series. I loved this book and intend to read the whole series in one go. I definitely recommend this book.
What an enchanting storey teller and writer Ms.Schults is. This storey is magical in more ways than one because there is nothing more magical than the first glow of new found love even magic can't top that and the delicate way in which this little witch Ellie is characterized with her timid new husband Roman. A delightful mix of caracters. I'ts time for you to aquier a copy and start enjoying "The Mail-Order Witch " I know I did. 🙄Kat
The numbers of witches and warlocks are decreasing because they are marrying non-magical people.
Matchmaking website for pure blood witches and warlocks. Pure bloods Roman and Ettie have married without ever having met and now she has travelled to his home.
Ettie starts wondering whether Roman is really a warlock or just buying the spells online. Does she have a duty to her magic or to her happiness?
Beautifully written as always with a touch of romance and loads of suspense. The characters are really interesting and likable. Love how witches are not from this reality and magic something alien. Can't wait to read the next book in this enjoyable series. A must read for young adult and up. This is a review for "The Mail-Order Witch, Episode 1" Part of the "Hidden Magic" Anthology

I have been provided with a copy of The Mail-Order Witch, Pilot Episode by the author for an impartial review. This is the first episode in The Mail-Order Witch series and this was a great way to start off a new series. This short story just captured my attention and I just had so much fun reading it. I just loved getting to meet these new characters and I can’t wait to read more episodes with them in it.
The Mail Order Witch by Joynell Schultz This was such a good, fun and interesting story that I wished it had gone on a lot longer. And that I had been the lucky witch who found Roman with all his romantic gestures. I truly enjoyed Joynell’s writing and this review is my own. This story is in a collection of more wonderful magical tales. Magical Connections by Joynell Schultz
Delightful, enchanting (yes, pun intended), sweet short story introducing Ettie and Roman. It covers their arranged marriage and interesting experiences as newlyweds. If you want a short, feel good read which will leave you with a smile on your face this is it. Now I need to go and read the rest.
Mail-order marriages are controversial in North American society. That doesn't mean they can't work. It is however imperative that the parties to such a marriage can and do communicate honestly. It is hard to make any marriage work without honest communications. When the parties are witches .... hoo boy......
I received a copy of this from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Mail Order Witch is a great introduction to a series of stories written by Joynelle Schultz. The main characters Roman and Ettie are very likeable. Both are easy to imagine in the real world eith the exception of their Warlock and Witch statuses, of course. The story is short and can be read from cover to cover in less than hour making it an ideal lunch companion! Highly recommend.
A light read. Truly enjoyed the charming characters. Each character complimented each other. A really good mesh. Wanted to spend more time with them. I think this is a great before bedtime book. You are enchanted by it's sweetness.
I really enjoyed this start of a series that I’m looking forward to more. Ettie is a full-blooded witch. She has a great life; however, witches are dying out. She believes it’s essential to marry a warlock to prolong the species. So, she becomes a mail-order bride.
This family-friendly short story in which Ettie rides the train to Woodsedge as a mail-order bride to Roman Sunward can be read in one sitting. I had an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
Love the story of how Ettie and Roman met and fell in love. A very cute and interesting story. Mail Order Brides are not something you see every day anymore. You will enjoy this fast paced mystery. Ettie and Roman will steal your heart.
