Cold Case Sergeant Ronan O’Mara wakes to a shocking midnight phone call. The body of a man killed in a shoot-out with the F.B.I. has vanished from the Suffolk County Morgue. What’s even more shocking than the missing corpse, is the identity of the second man apprehended at the scene. Mitchell Bond, aka, Tommy O’Neil was Ronan’s second-grade classmate and best friend until he was kidnapped in broad daylight, steps from his front door.
Even though psychic Tennyson Grimm hadn’t heard of Ronan’s childhood friend before now, he’s suddenly consumed by thoughts of the man. Thanks to Ten’s gift he knows twelve missing children linked to Mitchell Bond are alive, but he is uncertain of where to find them.
When Ronan is finally given the opportunity to speak to his long-lost friend, accusations begin to fly. Ronan is blindsided and begins to question everything he knew about Tommy, his kidnapping, and whether or not he could possibly have played a role in it.
While Tennyson races to put the pieces together to save the missing children, Ronan is forced to come to terms with a past he thought was long dead and buried. Can he set aside his own emotions long enough to put a stop to this deadly hunt?
Sick of the slogging rat-race of her 9-5 job, Pandora Pine put pen to paper (literally!) to make her ambition of becoming a romance novelist a reality. Sometimes when series get longer i start to lose interest...this is NOT one of those lol...its amazing and wonderful and i love it so much! Tenny is everything..and ronan is amazing and the two together are perfect and sexy!
Great suspenseful mystery. As for the romance between Rowan and Ten, the title says it all. Dead on his feet, with the case and with their baby teething, Rowan was just too tired. As much as I like this series, there is too much focus on babies of late. But outside of that, A good read.
Twelve books in and I am still excited when a Dead book drops onto my kindle. Pandora Pine finds a way at every turn to keep her readers glued to the pages and second guess themselves. I have been reading this series from day one and I am still stumped about the direction that this author is leading me.
Ro and Ten are growing in this book. As parents, they understand the urgency and the need for answers. But on the flip side, the sheer terror they are experiencing from this case and what it could have meant, and could mean, feels like their first case together.
Together with their friends, Ro must put aside personally feelings and become the police officer he was meant to be. When the long arm of justice was needed, it would take more than the past to help those involved. It will take everything to search, deliver and solve.
Why are you hesitating? One click and help solve the case that has been haunting Detective Ronan O'Mara for twenty five years.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
I can't get enough of this series or these characters. In this most recent installment, we get a call from Ronan's past, way past. Apparently when he was a child, his best friend was kidnapped and never found. This was something new as Ronan has never spoken about that time. We have the mystery of a long ago kidnapping, missing children, and a horrible secret society. There are also changes for a couple of our characters & I can't wait to see them happen. I don't want to give away anything so you really need to pick up this latest addition & if you haven't read any of them, what are you waiting for??
ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review
This book grabbed me from page one and didn't let go until the end! I am such a huge fan of this series and eagerly await each new installment. Pandora Pine never disappoints. She crafts an amazing story that is such a treat to read. This mystery will be you glued to the pages until the very end. I can't wait for the next installment!

I love all Pandora's books but is Ten & Ronan's marriage losing its passion or is Ms. Pine losing hers? "Dead on His Feet" had one intimate scene, and it just wasn't as hot as Ms. Pine can write. There are many sex scenes started, alluded to, & referred to, but only one written in it's entirety. This seems to be the current trend with the Cold Case books. I've seen it in the last few. Usually, I have no issue with the storyline or plot, but this time was a bit bumpy. Within the last few chapters of the book, we suddenly discover there's a huge nationwide criminal organization at play & within a couple days, they are found & the leader is arrested. Open & shut. Seriously? Maybe it will lead to more in later books but there's just a lazy feeling to Pandora's writing in the later Cold Case books. It's seems like more editing & proofreading is needed as well. I'm just not as pleased... :(
An engaging story about missing children, a best friend who is mysterious and of course Ronan and Ten. I liked the way the story evolved and flowed as the two men tried to figure out what was going on and what happened to the children.
The rest of Ronan and ten’s friends make brief appearances throughout. I enjoyed the story and all the elements that made it a satisfying book to read in the series. Mystery, suspense, drama and romance all played a part in bringing this story to a good end.
Whoa. Talk about starting off with an emotional bang! Poor Ronan not only has to deal with one crazy situation after another working in Cold Case and with Ten, but to find out that his best friend as a child went missing AND that he was found many years later was absolutely insane. I love how connected all of the characters are. They truly function as a well-oiled machine. Ten and Ronan aren't perfect and doubt each other every now and then or get frustrated, but that makes me love them even more. I love that they aren't perfect. I also love that they have hearts as big as the world. I can't get enough of this series.
Investigating a kidnapping case, FBI agents Cruz and Cortez, are shot at and Cortez is hit. Since Ronan is covering for Fitzgibbons, he is called in. He discovers the the perpetrator accused of the kidnapping is a kidnap victim himself, and was Ronan's best friend in the second grade, when he was kidnapped. Assembling the team as usual, and 5 kids still missing, the kidnapping case seems to grow, and appear as though it infiltrates throughout the country, with many people involved. I love these stories, one of my favorite authors. I love how it takes the whole team to get involved, and it always feels like family.
4.5 stars. A tense and exciting chapter in the CCP universe. This case hits WAY too close to home for Ronan. The case involves a Child Kidnapping Ring, and one of the people charged is a childhood friend of Ronan’s who was kidnapped himself 25 years earlier. It’s a creepy story with some terrifying ideas. My ONLY problem was that the case wrapped WAY too easily. Solving the initial case would have been enough for this book. I would have preferred the bigger, more widespread implications to have played out over a few of the books.
There isn't much more i can say about this series other than they have all been winners so far. I love, love, love Tennyson and Ronan. I love all the characters. I loved that Bertha is there to help them all. In this one we get to see an incident that helped shape Ronan into how he is today. This incident happened when he was a small child and the guilt he felt set him on the path to help people in the future. I really liked how this one had a focus on Ronan more than Ten even though Ten was very present in the story.
seeing as this is book number 12. we can already establish that I really enjoy this series, all the cases are intriguing, and being familiar with this world and format makes for an easy read when I don't feel like I have the capacity to start something from scratch but still look for a new adventure. that being said I still to this day don't really like Ronan as a character sometimes I even feel this urge to smack him on the head. his growth is there but it is ever too slow it's frustrating.
Whoops. I messed up and read Book 12 without reading Book 11, and now I've no clue where Ronan's dad ended up from. I guess next on my TBR is Book 11.
As for this book, wow. I absolutely loved the case. I'd been missing actual cold cases in the series, so this one was definitely exactly what I needed.
*WARNING* intended for mature audiences This was an emotional one with kidnapping involved. The characters are developing and getting older with each book. Always an interesting storyline. Great characters. Well written. I am glad I started at book one because prior cases and incidents are usually mention as they were in this one.
This book follows all the emotional rollercoaster I respect from Pandora. Some of the emotions felt a bit forced but in the essence of the story were still applicable. I really enjoy reading their adventures. Praise to the author for another tale well spoken.
Since the last time we visited a group, Fitz Gibbons and Jace, having an adopted daughter Aurora. This case involved kidnapped children, which turned into be a national well organized group doing it.. the shocker was one of the men taken with. When did the kidnap children turned out to be Ronans childhood friend who had been kidnapped at age 7.
Looking for 5 missing children that have been kidnapped across different States and working with the FBI, Ten is in a horrible situation trying to work it all out.
Dead on His Feet was an interesting addition to the Cold Case Psychic series. It seemed a bit more mystery driven than the others (well, to me anyway!!) and a little bit different than the others. One of my favourites.
I loved this story, but again I loved all of the stories. This one was hard because of the children, but I knew in the end everything would be ok. Great job P. Pine
Another great add to the series. Roman has more dark past moments coming back to haunt him again, this was exciting and interesting and I could not see what was coming. Can't wait for the next.
I was so happy to be back in the Cold Case universe. Pine has such a gift for creating characters that the reader can bond with and creating a universe that feels real and authentic for the reader. Honest to god I truly feel like I can go to Salem and find Ten and the gang at West Side Magick, stop in and say hi to Frisco at the police station and go seek out Madame Aurora. Then I’d top it off with a relaxing weekend at Sand Dollar Shoal which is mentioned again in this book. (I think we need a crossover story!) Of course I’d be listening to all the boys from Key West on my Sirius/XM radio!
In this book a scary piece of Ronan’s childhood comes back to bite him and inspire tremendous feelings of guilt. Both Ten and Ronan are off their games here and of course the rest of the gang steps up to help out with Jude and Cope at the forefront but also needing the help of Cole and Carson and Bertha. Fitzgibbon, still home on paternity leave gets involved too. And of course because there are infants involved we’ve got friends/family like Truman, Greeley and Faulk stepping up for babysitting help. This whole chosen family aspect of these books is one of my favorites and what I think makes the series so strong.
The case here involves the missing body of a dead kidnapper and a live kidnap victim (turned kidnapper?) in the form of Ronan’s childhood friend who was kidnapped 25 years ago when they were 7 years old. As they look further into the case they have to, reluctantly, work with FBI agent Cruz Clemente and his new partner.
Most of book revolves around the reflections on how Ronan has changed since he met Tennyson, how he sees his life differently and how his various frames are impacting how he’s treating this case. We also get reflections on how Tennyson and Jude have changed as well. An overriding theme is the impact that changes in life circumstance and the people around you impact who you are and what you are. It might sound like naval gazing the way I’m describing it but actually it’s quite thought provoking.
Of course the mystery of the kidnappers, and the still missing children, needs to be solved and there is otherworldly and psychic help needed for that to occur. Turns out there’s much more to this than meets the eye and of course Ronan is determined to cut the head off the snake. The climatic moment is tense and I kind of felt like I missed a step somewhere when it winds up. Ronan explains but it seems like he might have mentioned/thought about at least some element of what he thought might happen ahead of time so it didn’t appear to come out of left field. Most regular readers of mystery/suspense will probably figure it out ahead of time. I know I was pretty sure which is why a thought bubble from Ronan wouldn’t have really ruined anything, even a vague one.
As usual I was disappointed it was over and I’d now have to wait for what happens next! I do like the alternating stories between Cold Case and Haunted Souls, with the MCs from each playing supporting roles for the other. Pine has created quite a world and I’m so glad I get to be part of it!
Pandora Pine does it again. Dead on His Feet sucked me in and left me with a book hangover. I couldn’t put it down and devoured it in one sitting. Ronan, Tennyson and the crew are at it again, solving crimes, mysteries and bringing on the romance. While this book has all of the original crew, we meet a new face in the form of Cruz Clemente’s partner at the FBI. I wonder if Cruz will get his own book, hmmm….
This story starts with a wake up call about a body missing from the morgue and a suspect who happens to be Ronan’s second grade best friend/kidnap victim. We also find out that there are more missing children out there and Tennyson says they are alive. It is easy to say this book starts out with a bang.
Ronan and Tennyson are some of my favorite characters. This is the first time that both of them are out in the field together and facing danger since Everly was born. The duo faces decisions about parenting and their crime fighting lifestyle. We see a matured Ronan, who knows when to reign in his temper and a more outgoing Tenn.
There’s conflict, family, murder, mystery, ghosts and of course someone has to get shot… you’ll have to read to book to find out who. I’m finding this review difficult to write, not because I didn’t enjoy the story, but because I don’t want to give anything away. If you are a Pandora Pine fan, you will thoroughly enjoy this book. If you haven’t read any of the books yet, pick up Dead Speak and get sucked into one of the most well written, well-developed paranormal m/m series out there. These books are an automatic buy for me and I tend to drop whatever book I'm in the middle of to read the new release. I can’t say enough about how amazing these books are and this book just pushes the plot one step further. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Thank you Pandora for an ARC and the ability to get my greedy little hands on this book before it was even released!!!
Ten and Ronan are at it again. Ronan has worked other cases that were personal to him, but this one struck him hard. Usually when a missing child is found whether still as a child or an adult you would think everyone would be happy. This wasn’t the case for Ronan’s childhood best friend Tommy O’Neil who was kidnapped at seven years old.
“Tommy O’Neil was alive? He’d prayed every night that somehow Tommy would be found. Not only had he been located after twenty-five years, but he was being accused of the same crime committed against him.”
As Ronan, Ten, and Jude work to solve the case there are a lot of new realizations brought to light that Ronan hadn’t considered before, making this case even harder for him. Not only did he hope Tommy was innocent, he had to remember there were several kids still missing and a child was found where Tommy was living.
“We’re going to figure this all out, Ronan. I know we are. I love you.” Ten pressed a kiss to the dip in Ronan’s collarbone.
Aside from all the seriousness in this case, there were several parts that had me chuckling at the light bantering and comical remarks throughout.
I love that Pandora continues to involve everyone from West Side Magick, Jude, Fitzgibbons, and of course the wonderful Bertha Craig.
Usually I feel like the story is a nice balance between Ronan, Ten, their friends and the case they are working on. I felt this story was slightly different than most of the others in this series as it focused heavily around Ronan and the case. Yes, all the usual characters were involved but it just didnt feel quite the same. This is in no way a bad thing. I loved it. I enjoyed watching Ronan struggle emotionally and learn new perspectives as he tried to figure out who was Tommy now and how was he involved.
Man, Pandora has done it again. I loved this book and totally couldn’t put it down from start to finish. Ronan is woken up by a distressing phone call in the middle of the night by Vann Hoffman, the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Vann asks Ronan if he heard about the FBI shootout, and an agent is in ICU recovering from a round to the chest and his partner is Cruz Clemente, who Ronan has worked with before in Vito ‘The Dragon’ Dragonni case but he isn’t Ronan’s favourite person since he threatened Ten with his family so he kept a secret from Ronan that Tony is still alive. The FBI was investigating a child k*dnapping ring, one suspect is dead (the father) and the other is in lockup, the child is safe and sound but this is where things get interesting in that he got a match on Mitchell’s (the son’s) DNA but not in CODIS, it was in ALERT meaning that Mitchell is in the database for Missing and Exploited Children, and he’’s actually Ronan’s childhood friend Tommy O’Neill who went missing 25 years ago. Will this be a case of when the victim becomes the k*dnapper? Plus, the body of the father was taken from the morgue. Ten, Ronan, Jude & Cap work together to try and solve this case and find the kids that are still missing. They try and work along side the FBI but the FBI are very reluctant at sharing any information with them. I’m hoping Cruz and his partner Cortez get a story as I really want Cruz to find some peace after what he did to Ten, and fighting for so long to get justice for his brother who The Dragon mu*dered. I’d recommend this book, series & author to anyone.
