Ginga and Aoi's friendship was so cute!!!! I need to find my own Aoi, he's so dependable.

I LAUGHED SO MUCH WHEN THEY CAME TO AOI'S PART TIME JOB XD WHY IS EVERYTHING THEY SERVE SO WEIRD. They should promote Aoi because his pretty face is the only reason why they're in business.

We have more backstory as welllll. I'm also really glad that Mahiru is taking the steps to improve her confidence ♥ Aoi is so in love with her. She has nothing to worry about!

The story gets more complecated, but the couple is cute and the romance sweet and interesting.

Another cute volume!

I really liked how Mahiru learned that sometimes the normal, everyday things really are the BIG things in people's lives. It may seem boring, but I think her realizing that for some people, those small things aren't always boring. I thought it was another big step for her and growing closer to Aoi, especially since she worked up the nerve to tell people they ARE dating! Ahhh! I am SO proud of her!

While I enjoyed this volume, I definitely internally groaned when I saw two certain characters blush after our main couple smiled. Like no no no! Do NOT interfere with this wholesome ship! I have loved seeing these two grow closer together and even if I get both the intentions of the other two characters are not "bad," I sort of need them to go away for a while so nothing bad happens…LOL

Hopeful that there isn't a potential love square forming...

Noooo. I'm hoping the sister isn't going to start crushing. No mention of her boyfriend in there. Home visit. The siblings were sweet. What did Ginga think he was doing with that reaction? The drama is settling in. I'm curious what happens next but things seem to be getting darker from the pastel fluff.

A heartwarming story about a terribly insecure girl.

This is a sweet story. My daughter is going to love this volume. My suspicions about Mayo have proven correct. She cares deeply for Mahiru and is very aware of the events that have estranged them. The story flowed naturally, not contrived, but the twist at the end was to be expected.

This manga has a simple art style—slight and airy. If you are looking for excellent illustrations, this manga won’t have them for you, but the story is competently illustrated with excellent sequential paneling and a good narrative flow. No choppiness. No non sequitur gags. I like it.

Another great installment in the series. As usual, we pick up right where we left off, and get to see the secret behind Aoi's home life. Mahiru keeps doing her best to gain self confidence and take steps to build the relationships around her, and tackle her fears. It's definitely nice to see, I think her anxieties are very relatable and are handled well within the story.

I loved the chapter with Mayo, finally seeing things from her perspective. It was definitely a moving read there, I very much sympathized with her. It was painful to see that, as fantastic as Mahiru has been improving her communication with Aoi and her new friends, she and her sister are still estranged with each other. It definitely adds much needed depth to Mayo's character, and more to the story that you want to see resolved.

The ending wasn't surprising, but I liked it. I liked the progress with Mahiru, and I am liking the inclusion, finally, of Mayo in the story, even if the waters are starting to get muddy because of it. It certainly makes things feel more real. The story definitely has a natural pace to it, which I appreciate it. No need to rush anything, just let stuff happen.

As always, the art is simple and cute. A few spots where things are a bit of a miss for me, but I think it works with the story. No real complaints.

I'm eager to see where things go from here. :)

For Japanese Learners: I talk more about that in my review of the first book here. As this is a series, things will be consistent. tl;dr Easiest manga I've read yet!

Close to a 2.5. With this volume my suspicions I wouldn't vibe with this one we're cemented. I enjoy the message it's intending to do and Mahiru's internal dialogue does sell it but something about this isn't clicking and it's making me just uninterested. Mahiru goes to Aoi’s house and finally picks up all the hints about his family situation. It’s sweet to see how she feels disappointment about not realizing and then how she decides she’s now going to help him just as he’s been helping her. I am a sucker for a romance where they both “save” each other and Taamo has done this excellently in the past with Atsumori-kun’s Bride to Be.
The development with Mahiru's sister and Aoi was neat too. It was sorta clear what Mayo was doing but its a neat sentiment and humanizes Mayo more. Of course Mahiru nor Taamo ever villify her but its reassuring to see Mayo while seemingly not bringing it up to Mahiru to not upset her is aware of how others reaction to her can hurt Mahiru despite her intentions and actions and goes out of her way to avoid those situations for Mahiru.
It does sting how it ends up hurting Mahiru though due to her lying to bolster her sister and her boyfriend not lying causing it to seem like a cover up. It causes Mahiru to spiral, doubt herself, and consider the worst.
I really disliked the ending as it seems to setup Mayo actually starting to develop feelings Aoi. I'm sure Taamo will write it well but it feels awkward since so much of the volume builds up how ironclad Mayo is about not getting in the way of her sister to help her. She's built this whole wall around Aoi and now it's just crumbled?

Hmmm

Ok. I’ve had a few issues with this one. First, the fact Ginger hot Mahiro on the head when she smiled. Not ok. Was not expecting that. Also, my god are teenagers really that blunt? I was never that vocal and never rude to say to someone’s face that they’re plain and why is your boyfriend going out with you. Wow!!! Harsh. And lastly, why oh why does Mayo have to start crushing on her sister’s boyfriend!? Nooo! Aoi seems 100% loyal and crazy about Mahiro so I’m sure this is just to give me a heart attack for entertainment value. But I’m getting antsy y’all.

*3.5*

This series is still pretty cute, but I think the poor pacing is starting to show a bit more. Mahiru and Aoi got together a bit too quickly, and their little problems are starting to feel repetitive. At this point I'm a bit more interested in the best friend who has unrequited feelings for her teacher lmao.

At least Mahiru and Aoi have such a wholesome and warm relationship, it's honestly the only thing that's keeping me invested, I just want them to be happy together, they deserve it.

Hopefully volume 4 will pick up and bring some much needed intrigue.

This doesn't have the same magic as House of the Sun did and I'm sort of getting a bit annoyed with Mahiru. I don't trust Mayo and I feel like Aoi us about to get himself into a weird triangle.
