A simple read that focuses on Edison's childhood and what got him into inventing. I think it is good for 3rd or 4th graders because it teaches that an inquisitive mind is good and that hard work is valuable. I would encourage teachers to create assignments from this book with questions that engage students.
This was a fun book about Thomas Edison growing up. My children and I thought it was fascinating to learn all the things he did as a child. He was an extremely energetic child and we loved hearing about the ways he earned money, such as selling fruit and veggies from a wagon, and selling magazines and food on a train...all his own ideas! Also interesting to note that he was partially deaf. We learned a great deal about Edison in this small book. Another interesting tidbit is that Edison "invented" the idea of paying scientists just to think up experiments! A very interesting and amazing man!
This was a fun book. It was interesting to read about Thomas Edison. In this story you find out how much Edison enjoyed experiments as a young boy and how he eventually invented the telegraph and lightbulb. Great book!
