Nine-year-old Indy's excitement at learning about archaeology from none other than Lawrence of Arabia soon sours when a man guarding a newly opened tomb is murdered. Simultaneous.

According to the Indiana Jones Novel wiki, this novel is the first novel about Indiana Jones’ life in chronological order. I chose to start here after finding a pdf copy online. Although this copy was missing 3 pages… Anyway this novel was very interesting and tells the tale of a 9 year old Indiana Jones and his first encounter with archaeology. Quite fascinating, I almost wanted this story to be longer.
2.5⭐️ - Good for kids that want to read a bit of action/adventure, but really I would just recommend watching the series. I didn't feel like this was adding much.
From now on, he decided, he always wanted his life to be filled with new adventures.
Set largely in Egypt, 1908.
Henry Jones, Jr. (aka Indiana / Indy) has a very inquisitive mind. As much as he can be a little heathen, he’s also a dedicated and studious young boy.
Indy’s father is a professor of medieval literature at Princeton University.
Miss Helen Seymour is Indy’s new tutor.
Voyage to Egypt. By boat.
The explanation of ancient Egyptian embalming is very cool.
Camels. The pyramids. The sphinx.
Ned Lawrence—Indy’s new hero.
The red notebook—a gift from his father.
The Valley of the Kings. Beginning to learn hieroglyphics.
Rumors of a curse in the newly-discovered tomb.
The photos are fun. And funny. We sure have come a long way in photographic manipulation.
Captures the Young Boy Excitement very well.
The mummy. The murder. Kha!
Love the real-life historical figures and events that are woven in. Excellent epilogue and Afterword.
A fun read for any age.
*I know this book is not exactly new. And it’s probably rare. But the page count is off by more than 100 pages. 🙄
“So you would like to be an archaeologist someday?” “Sure, if that’s what you call the person that does all that stuff—digging up ancient people and buried treasure and everything.”
I remember when this television show first came out I was really into it, enough to read the book. I think it was really an extension of my fascination with ancient Egypt, because when I rewatched the first three episodes of the series recently, I only remember that first one that involved Egypt.
Het leest vlot maar blijft toch wel erg oppervlakkig, waarschijnlijk omdat de doelgroep jonger is dan verwacht. Daardoor blijft de spanning en het griezeleffect beperkt. Toch de moeite.
