It's a perfect ending to this series, but I can't mention how and ruin it for the author's readers. Cecelia Mecca brought the story full circle with a very satisfying HEA. What a great series!!

Thankfully Ian left not long after his brother to travel back to medieval Scotland. I loved the fact that these authors chose that each brother would have a different experience just as we would all react differently.

There's not much I can touch on without giving away part of the story so I'll begin with how they met. She's at the loch, hoping to meet her secret love when Ian appears out of nowhere, strolls up to her...and I'll say no more. Just know that's Ian's the type of guy that wants to be upfront and honest about his actions, except when it comes to his position in his father's shipping company. She's shy and slightly embarrassed over a birthmark on her cheek. They both bloom when they come together, and learn much from one another...even love.

My favorite lines in this book pertained to the mother, Shona....where the story began and here are the words of her son:
"The only guidance counselor in our family disappeared five years ago. The rest of us schmucks have been on autopilot ever since."

Great story!! I received an ARC and was grateful to get my hands on the completion of this series. I highly recommend the entire 4-book series!!

As the youngest of four brothers in a powerful family, Ian McCaim is rather used to following in his brothers’ footsteps. This time that lands him in Medieval Scotland to reunite with his brother Greyson and await the arrival of the other two brothers so they can all time travel back to their home in present day New Orleans together. While the wait, Greyson saddles Ian with the task of using his charm on a neighboring laird, a man whose as-yet-unborn son is destined to play a key role in the Scottish War of Independence, but only if the laird is brought back to supporting the Bruce clan. This should be an easy accomplishment for Ian, but he soon proves incapable of behaving himself with the laird’s daughter.

Lady Mairi Kelbrue is used to receiving prolonged stares from strangers and familiars alike due to the odd birthmark on her cheek. So when she meets a handsome man at the loch on her father’s land, she is unsurprised to find him staring at her. But when he inexplicably kisses her, she’s shocked by the action, and by what she feels. She’d been planning to marry her childhood friend, if she could convince her father to agree to it, but she’s never experienced such feelings for him.

When Ian escorts her home and, honest to a fault, blurts out the story of what happened to her father, he and Mairi quickly find themselves wed. Ian knows he won’t be staying in Medieval Scotland for long and vows to keep his distance, but despite his best intentions, he can’t seem to stay away from Mairi. Soon the wife he never thought to want becomes the center of his desires, there remains a dark cloud over the newlyweds, even as they grow closer: what will happen when his brothers are reunited and it’s time to return home?

This was such a fantastic ending to a series I have thoroughly enjoyed. I loved Mairi and Ian together and loved that he was so unafraid to show emotion and she was so accepting of him. This was a lovely, fast-paced read and I’m very satisfied with how the series wrapped up. This was an excellent collaboration and I can’t wait to see what’s next from both of these authors.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspo...

This is the fourth & final book in the series & what a series it has been. Another well written, captivating, enthralling read. The characters are very well portrayed, I loved both Ian & Mairi who complimented each other beautifully. Ian is so honourable & truthful, Mairi was lacking in confidence until Ian boosted her self esteem, I loved the journey to their HEA. Many of the questions raised in earlier books are answered but to be truthful I didn’t want the series to end & would love to read Shona’s story as well as more about her brothers
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Scandalous Scot by Cecelia Mecca is the fourth and final book in the Highlanders Through Time series. This series will have 4 books, 2 by Cecelia and 2 by Julie Johnstone. Both are favourite authors of mine and I have very much enjoyed this collaboration.

The series starts back in time when Shona, a woman fleeing for her life ends up travelling through time to the future. We don't see what her life is like but we know that she is married and has 4 grown-up sons all before suddenly being dragged back to her own time. That was 5 years ago and since then Shona's husband has been trying to find a way to get her back, his sons think he has gone insane but all that changes when they discover all the research their father has done, and in turn find the artefact and the incantation that might be what brought their mother through time. As much as the 4 brothers don't expect the incantation to work, they each hold onto the artefact and chant it, and therein really begins their stories. The previous three stories were Rhys, Greyson and Reikart's. This time it is the youngest brother Ian's turn to travel through time. He prays he will find his brothers and his mother and a way for them to be able to come home.

Ian's story certainly starts with a bang. Within a week of his arrival, he is out riding when he comes across a woman who seems injured. Màiri Kelbrue stormed out of her home when she yet again had an argument with her father, the Kelbrue Laird, forbidding her to marry Ambrose, a man from a clan that they are enemies with. In her anger, running, she jolts her ankle and while nursing it she notices a man approaching on a horse. The closer he gets the more she is mesmerised. The same can be said for Ian. The minute he is close enough to look at her, he cannot believe how beautiful she is. He is positively tongue-tied. Mairi is just as shocked and before they know it they are walking towards each other and end up sharing a passionate kiss. Lust at first sight for sure! Thankfully they were stopped from going further than that by Ian's relatives who finally catch up with him.

Mairi's father is going to play a pivotal role in the Scottish War of Independence. But to make sure he falls on the right side of things Ian has been tasked with sweet-talking, his forte, the man into giving the Bruce his fealty. Ian's brothers think escorting Mairi home would be the perfect time for him to put on the charm offensive. Things couldn't go more wrong though when Ian decides he needs to earn the man's respect and to earn that he needs to be honest with him. Not realising the consequences of sharing a kiss with a woman in those times, he admits to the Laird that he had kissed Mairi! The proverbial hit the fan and it goes without saying that Ian is ordered to save Mairi's reputation by marrying her. Of course, secretly her father is pleased too because there will be no chance of her marrying Ambrose once she marries Ian.

Ian can't believe he is being told to marry just because of a kiss. He doesn't want to marry especially as he doesn't love Mairi, plus how could he marry and then go back to his time. He certainly couldn't take her with him. They were strangers. He wants to refuse to wed, but his brothers tell him he really has no choice especially as they want to keep the Laird happy and in a better frame of mind to be coerced about the Bruce.

As for Mairi, she can't believe that for all the years she has known and loved Ambrose she has never felt an inkling of passion like she felt when she kissed Ian. Perhaps she only loves Ambrose but only as a brother. She needs to marry Ian, but will he go through with it.

All Ian wants to concentrate on is seeing all of his brothers again. He is with two of them, but the other two are travelling to the keep. As soon as they are all together again they are going to travel home. If he marries Mairi he definitely can't consummate the marriage because he can't take the chance of her getting pregnant. How could he leave knowing a baby of his could be left behind. But, at the same time, how could he marry Mairi and be able to keep his hands off her. He not only lusts after her but the more time he spends with her the more he actually likes her. The feelings are mutual. There is a lot of miscommunication between them both with both spending too much time thinking for the other and not seeing the wood for the trees. They could perhaps have a good, real marriage together, but then would Ian have to stay and not return to his time.

This was a great, fast-paced story. I think Ian is my favourite brother, but then I think I say that after reading each of the brother's stories. They are such a wonderful group of men and each of their stories has been a delight to read. This one is extra special though because it's time for the brothers to travel home. They are not the same people that travelled back in time, they have grown, they have fallen in love, they have married, perhaps even Ian too, you will know by the time you read this! They were great guys before, but they are even better now and I am so thrilled that they have happy endings. I was quite emotional a few times during this book, especially when the brothers were reunited. Such touching scenes. Not to mention scenes involving their mother and father!

This whole series has been a joy to read, I have connected with each of the characters and I am sad that this is the last story. I will miss them all.

If you love sexy bad boy heroes with hearts of gold, heroines with the courage to fight for what they want, and love stories across time, then you’ll love this sweeping romance series.

My review :

So it is the last book in this fun time travel romance series.
I loved each of the four brothers even if some tested my patience. And Ian did it!
As the youngest of the McCaim’s brothers, he grew up feeling always infantilized, the baby brother and needed, why he felt the need to prove he was to be trusted but also not a failure. But by taking a job, one he dislike, to be like his siblings, part of the family’s business, he strengthens his sentiment to be less deserving. By not listening to his inner self and living under his family’s monitoring, he imagines himself as undeserving.
He appears often as careless when it is only a facade to hide his own uncertainty. By not enjoying his role, he sees him as less worthy than his brother. So much, he comes to believe everyone is better than him why he keeps rejecting Màiri.
Màiri is self-conscious because of the birthmark on her face, she learned to avoid prying eyes and the whispers. Still, it is probably why she accepted her childhood’s friend proposition of marriage, instead of looking for true love elsewhere. Still she would be happy if only her father would allow the union. But doubts creep about her feelings when after only one kiss, her world is turned upside down by her encounter with Ian.
She has more courage than him as she tries to go to him when he spends his time turning his back to her.
This last book has less action than the others, it is more a tale of coming of age, for Ian to take his responsibilities, to decide what is worth and for Màiri to choose her own future.

4.5stars for this entertaining and moving read which sees the reunion of the McCaim siblings.

I was granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Ian McCaim has always followed in his brother's footsteps even if it takes him to medieval Scotland. This time it's Ian's turn so he chants the words to the ritual and next thing he knows he lands right next to Hightower Castle and his big brother Greyson is there to meet him. As soon as the rest of the family returns to Hightower, the McCaims can go home, but in the meantime , Greyson has a task for Ian. To charm the man whose son is fated to play a pivotal role in the Scottish War of Independence. A task that could be easily done if Ian was capable of behaving himself.

Màiri Kelbrune is used to people staring at her as she has a strange mark on her cheek. So when she encounters a handsome man near her father's loch staring at her, she assumes the worst. Until the moment he kisses her and she's stunned to feel so much passion for a stranger. She always thought to marry her childhood friend, but never once has he made her feel the way this stranger does. Then sh can't believe what happens next. The stranger then does the craziest thing anyone would ever do in medievalScotland. After escorting her home, he tells her father exactly what happened between them.

Right away, Ian and Màiri are rushed to the alter and Ian plans on returning to the future sooner rather then later, but the bride he never wanted soon becomes the only person he wants. What will he do when he leaves? Will Màiri go along or stay back in medieval Scotland.

This is the fourth and final novel from the time traveling series by Cecelia Mecca and Julie Johnstone and they just went out with one heck of a bang. Màiri is a beautiful self conscious, spirited Lady with pleanty of passion to give. Ian is the youngest McCaim brother to time travel back to medieval Scotland and find what could be the biggest love he's ever known. He's different from his other brothers and had his own demons to deal with, but he made it through everyone of them a better man. I spent my whole day relaxing and reading this and wow it was even better then I anticipated. This book was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The Brother's reunion really touched my heart and the ending of the book totally made my day. So if you need a great getaway look no further this book will transport you back and forth like the excellent time traveler we've all become. I can not wait to see what Ms. Mecca and Ms. Johnstone decide to do next. I adored this book and highly recommend the whole series to time travel lovers everywhere.

New Orleans Headlines... McCaim family mystery! Father in a coma and three brothers have disappeared! Wait! Make that four!
Ian was the last of the brothers left at home after seeing his other three vanish Yep they were gone. If all was true time traveled back to find their mom who had been gone for five years. Oh yes, he was next.. As he held the cross and said the words..
Kinross Castle, Scotland 1286
Ian landed near the Castle and of all things found his brother Grey who quickly got him acclimated. All they both wanted was to bring their mother and other brothers and get back to the future/
But then he met Mairi. He thought her perfect. Her attraction was instant also.. Oh yes sparks flew.
So sad this is the last book in this amazing series created by two of the best authors of historical fiction. All I want to know, is that cross still around and will the words still work? Just want to go for a little visit! Cannot wait to see what they create next! Bravo!!

Such a wonderful finish to the Highlanders Through Time series and I must say, I'll really miss these four swoon worthy brothers!! I loved Ian and Màiri's story....he sure knows how to make a first impression! lol

Ian is the last of the 4 brothers to find his way to medieval Scotland by time travel and it doesn't take him long to get into a heap of trouble! I really loved his character and it warmed my heart that he was the emotional one in the family. The scene when he meets his mother again had me reaching for the tissues!!

Màiri doesn't know what to make of Ian, especially when he kisses her before he even knows her name:) I also loved her character, such a gentle soul. Having a birthmark on her cheek that she's very self conscious of and hating the stares she gets, she's quite surprised at how Ian handles it....I lost my heart to him right there and then!!

Thank you to Cecelia Mecca and Julie Johnstone for writing such a wonderful book series for us to read. You two rock!!

New Orleans 2020
Scotland, 1286

Now it is all up to Ian McCain to save the day. The only way to return his brothers if they are even alive is to time-travel in medieval Scotland and bring them all home. At this point he doesn’t realize all his brothers have found love on their way. Ian is scared to death he might time travel to the wrong time. There is no security or guarantees in time travel and you can not do a do over. It is a one shot deal!

Now all three of his brothers, are either dead or in medieval Scotland, as Ian is the youngest brother and the only one who can save the day. Ian has now seen all three of his brothers vanish before his very eyes. He followed his brothers instructions and shared their story with the only cousin they trusted and processed all the legal stuff. Just in case they never make it back or worse plus someone to watch over and care for their Dad. Ian knew the spell by heart at this point and it was his turn to find and rescue his family. For once in his life he is the one in charge!

Luck was on his side-as Ian lands in medieval Scotland, next to Hightower castle which immediately reunites him with his brother Greyson. Now he must wait for his other two brothers to meet them and is heartbroken-his mother has already traveled back to New Orleans to be with their Dad. It’s just that she understands him better than anyone. She is the only family member that knew Ian was miserable working in the family business but was afraid to disappoint his family and let them down. He hates his job, but feels like a traitor to leave his family and branch out to do something else. It was hard enough being the baby of the family, it was like he could never quite measure up compared to his perfect brothers.

Now his medieval family gave him a task due to him being so good at his job in the future. Ian had always been charismatic and could make people feel comfortable and at ease with him. He could also easily convince people to his way of thinking, the reason his brother and Uncle gave him this specific task. Another reason he was on his way to Laird Kelbrue’s home-to hopefully persuade him to switch his loyalties again.

It turns out that this Laird is very religious and will birth a son in the future, who will be a key player in Robert the Bruce’s success at the Battle of Bannockburn. This is Scotland’s first Battle of Independence that will go in the history books. Well Ian had been focused and on his way until he saw this beautiful lass at the loch which presented a wee bit of a delay.

Lady Màiri Kelbrue wants to marry Ambrose, who is from a neighboring clan she has known since childhood. Except now their fathers once friends now hated each other, plus Ambrose never looked at her ugly birthmark like everyone else does. So when she meets this handsome man with a strange accent at the loch. She sees him staring at her and assumes that he is being cruel like people in the village. When she tries to hide her mark, he unfolds her hand and actually touches it and calls her beautiful! Ian dives in kissing her passionately making her feel things she never felt before! Of course once he finds out this is the Laird’s daughter he knows he is trouble! So he feels he only has one option and ends up married! Ian is like honest Abe and didn’t think a kiss was a big deal. Of course secretly her father really likes and admires Clan MacKinnishand wants this alliance. He truly admires Ian too as he has that effect on people.

Ian knows he is going back to his own time and decides never to consummate their marriage. Of course some things are harder to do and he starts to feel things he never did before including love and mjealousy. Yet can he allow her to leave a father she loves and a maid who has been like a mother to her her entire life? Ian knows how difficult that would be missing his mother for these past five years and having a father dying in a coma. Máiri too realizes she is in love with Ian and feeling a bit rejected. Will The McCaim family ever get back their own time? Will it be too late for all of them? Will they ever see their father alive? Find out the conclusion of this magical series where hiding things is never the answer which only gives empty results.

This is sadly the last book of this Mecca/Johnstone time-travel series that has been totally epic to the coor! It is both heartbreaking and enchanting but delivers a breathtaking message! Fans,of paranormal time-travel will absolutely love this book. Each novel brilliantly has a swoon worthy hero that goes to medieval Scotland to rescue their mother but finds love on the way. All four books are awe-inspiring masterpieces that readers will want to read again and again. It is has multi detailed characters with rich, detailed story lines. The type of story that is absolutely unique, original and unforgettable!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this four-book journey through time brought to readers by authors Cecilia Mecca and Julie Johnstone. Both Mecca and Johnstone have a gift for immersing readers into medieval Scotland with a seamless blend of fact and fiction, intermingling real people with characters of their own creation, and giving readers a breath-stealing and realistic reading experience.

Book four, Scandalous Scot, brings us the story of youngest McCaim brother, Ian, as well as the conclusion of the series. Like his older brothers before him, Ian has time traveled back to medieval Scotland in an attempt to locate his missing mother, reunite with his brothers, and bring his family back to present-day New Orleans. And, also like his brothers before him, a medieval woman has added a detour to his journey.

This book was a bit different from the others in that it not only tells Ian's individual story but also wraps up the series. I enjoyed Ian's growth throughout his journey. He's probably the most emotionally transparent of the brothers, struggling to find his place without disappointing his parents or siblings. I enjoyed his interactions with his brothers and watching him come into his own, though he sure took his good sweet time to do it. And, I really enjoyed the culmination of the brothers' journey and the resolution of their mother's disappearance, along with the final outcome of their father's health crisis. The ending had tears of happiness flowing and me reaching for tissues. Many tissues.

What I wanted more of in this book was Ian's and Mairi's romantic journey. I liked Mairi a lot. She's a sympathetic character with difficult decisions to make and my heart ached for her. I enjoyed how her relationship with her new sister-in-law helps her gain confidence in herself and I cheered for her to find her happy ending. What I had a bit of difficulty with was her relationship with Ian. These two find themselves married at lightning speed, within a few days of first meeting, in a marriage neither wants. They are literal strangers, and not only because they're from different centuries. They need time together to learn about one another, for feelings to develop. And I needed that time to believe in them. There's so much going on within this book in regards to family matters (which I loved) that at times it feels like their romance gets pushed to the back burner. I needed more attention given to these two, more of them together on the page, more development of their relationship, and more depth of emotion. Because of that, while I enjoyed their happily ever after I wasn't as fully invested in them as I was in the other three couples in the series. Others may feel differently.

While I may have wanted more in regards to the romantic relationship in this final book, the overall journey and conclusion to the McCaim family saga checked my happy boxes and left me a very satisfied reader. I enthusiastically recommend Cecilia Mecca's and Julie Johnstone's time-traveling McCaim brothers - Highlanders Through Time.

Scandalous Scot by Cecelia Mecca and Julie Johnstone is the fourth and final novel in the Highlanders Through Time series. This is the story of Ian McCaim and Lady Mairi, daughter of Alexander Kelbrue, laird of Clan Kelbrue.
This is the fourth and final novel of this fabulous time traveling series, and it’s a very professionally written and plotted work. The characters are each different, even though brothers, each McCaim brother has their own personality and issues. The love interests have all been special and perfectly suited to each brother. This novel is as well.
Ian is the baby brother and has never felt he quite new his place. He works for his father and brother’s company as the head of PR. He’s well gifted with being able to deal with people to be sure, but it’s just not what he wants. However, he has been unable to express that to his family.
Ian does the chant, which works. The cross goes with him because he’s the only one left holding it. He wakes up in Scotland, laying in knee deep snow. As he feels better, he stands and walks up a hill to see a large three towered castle not far away. He tells the guards he’s lost. When two men come out toward him, he’s gobsmacked to see his brother Greyson in clothing of the period carrying a weapon. Surprises just kept coming as he learns that all his brothers have found wives.
A week later, after being introduced to the clan and informed of a few things, Ian was traveling with Grey and his Uncle Ross to a neighboring clan to help convince them to support Robert the Bruce, while they also waited for the rest of the family to come to Hightower. He got himself a little away from the others by wandering around. He came upon a young woman who he thought looked hurt. As he got closer, he saw past her hooded coat and thought she was perfection. He was immediately drawn to her. He introduced himself as Ian MacKinnish (the identity they are using) and asked if she was okay. Mairi was also drawn to the handsome man she’d never seen and fought herself not to reach out to touch him. She told him she was hurt but was now better. He reached out and touched her cheek and things progressed quickly from there.
Okay, that’s the setup. I won’t spoil this marvelous read for you. Just know that Ian is a bit impetuous and the story takes off from there. There are also a lot more details than I’ve given you, but you really need to read this for yourself to understand.
This series has been a delight to read. It’s so well done and has had so much danger, unusual things happening. It’s been a real treat to take the time traveling ride with these guys. Authors Julie Johnston and Cecelia Mecca have done a wonderous job writing these novels. If you haven’t started this series, don’t wait longer…it’s all ready for you!

Impetuous and impulsive, Ian McCaim takes a giant step into the past following in his brothers' wake. Unlike them, he lands almost as the doorstep of Hightower Castle, where Greyson is in residence. What he doesn't take into account is the beautiful Màiri Kelbrue, whom he kisses before he even asks her name, with disastrous results. Before he knows it, Ian is married to the angry Màiri, who had her heart set on marrying her childhood friend. Set in thirteenth-century Scotland, Ian flounders as he tries to get a foothold in the past, the least of his problems being linen shirts and questionable food. I felt for Ian as he struggled to break through the barriers holding him back from taking his place in his family, to gain their respect, and to find his own place in the world. Màiri also has a struggle, especially when she discovers that her husband comes from another time and place. Ultimately, she has to choose whether she will take the safe route and stay with her father or to throw her lot in with Ian should he achieve his purpose in Scotland. The plot is well written, with wit and humour and comes to a good conclusion. Whilst Ian and Màiri's story is a standalone, the book really does need to be read in sequence with the preceding books. I received a copy of this novel as a gift an this is my honest and voluntary review.

It was hard to say good-bye to all the diverse and wonderful characters, from the future and the past, in the final book of this 4-part time-travel series. In Scandalous Scot, the youngest son Ian makes his trip to the past in search of his mother who suddenly traveled back to the past 5 years before. He hopes to find his three brothers who went before him. This is such a rich, complex and emotional series of books, and deeply romantic as well. This book has a special twist when Ian must marry a woman from the past almost immediately for his "indiscretion" by kissing an unmarried maiden. He does not want to bed his new wife because he has no plans on keeping her. The plot gets more complicated and the sexual tension between them builds. and there is the suspense and intrigue of the building war between the clans that involved the Bruce family. I do not want to give away too much, but in the end, the big question is who will "go back to the future"? Will they find their mother again? Will their father come out of his comma? I wasn't sure until the end whether this one would have the usual happily ever after ending but I was very satisfied in the end!

I am crying that it is over but what a way to finish out a series!!! Scandalous Scot is book 4 in the Highlander's Through Time series written by Cecelia Mecca and Julie Johnstone and what an amazing series this was. I can totally relate to to being the baby of 3 brothers and my heart went out to our hero, Ian in Scandalous Scot. Cecelia did a superb job in writing the baby of the family scenario that I felt like she was writing about me. I truly could feel what Ian was feeling and that takes some real writing talent to pull that off. Bravo Cecelia Mecca! This story has fear, hating one’s job, playing it smart and using one’s instincts, a love for family, protectiveness, not allowing to marry due to a family feud, a beauty mark that one is ashamed of, a forced marriage due to truthfulness and yes love at first sight. I highly recommend this book and it can be read as a standalone but do yourself a big favor and get the whole series…. you will thank me for it later.

***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Scandalous Scot by Cecelia Mecca, Julie Johnstone is book 4 in the Highlanders Through Time Series. This is the story of Màiri Kelbrue and Ian McCaim. I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one but you can read this as a standalone book if you wish to do so. Ian has traveled back in time to find his mother just as his brother's did which Ian is now looking for them too. It doesn't take Ian long before he falls in lust with Màiri but then feelings start to more forward into something more. This has been such a great series and this book was just as page turning as the others. Loved it.

I absolutely loved Ian’s story! Being the youngest son isn’t easy in the McCaim family and Ian is struggling to find where he fits in. Mairi has persuaded herself that she loves, even though her father is against it, but when she happens to meet up with Ian at the loch, her feelings are all mixed up. Will Ian and Mairi gain their happy ever after or will he leave her behind when he returns to the future with his brothers? A beautiful tale of finding oneself. I highly recommend this one.

I have really love this whole series and I really wished there could be more from other characters. This story is about Ian McCaim and he is always following his brothers. Màiri Kelbrue has a strange mark on her face that makes people stare. They meet and kiss and I will let you find out the rest of the story for yourself. I love the plot and the characters are amazing.

An incredible end to the four book saga of these time traveling brothers. Keeping with the family tradition Ian pretty much falls for Màiri as soon as he sets eyes on her. Ian’s angst gives his story an edge and a slightly different path than his brothers. I wasn’t sure how this story was going to end, which makes it a really good read! I’m sorry the series has ended as I’ve enjoyed every single book!

I enjoy Tim Campbell's narration, and he always gives the heroes a deep, sexy voice.

A lot of the time, my "reviews" are less of a review per se and more a collection of notes that I write for myself so that I can remember what happens in each story, along with what I liked, disliked, had questions about, favorite parts, etc. I have a TBI and otherwise my memory will not serve me. Others may not find them helpful, just as a disclaimer.

Aw man, we're back to not having the beautiful quotes in between chapters. Books 1 and 3 had the, but not 2 and 4. I absolutely loved them and loved hearing Tim read them.

I love learning more about Jeremy! He needs his own story.

Meh, Mairi is a little foolish for her insta-lust. Idk, I can buy that Ian thought her beautiful immediately, but for a young woman, alone, in the woods to see a man and just instantly think about kissing him and throwing all caution into the wind -particularly during that time when safety was scarce- Idk, it just don't seem logical. Having grown up in the 21st century and not being used to the violence of the middle ages, I can understand Ian not being careful enough, but I'm going to need Mairi, who is innocent outside of one kiss with her childhood friend, to come to her senses and at least try to preserve her wellbeing. I just cannot imagine a man being handsome enough for a woman to overlook the threat he could pose to her just because he's handsome. Even in that time, more women died at the hand of men than any other method of death. Then again, it's a time travel novel, so suspension of belief is part of the deal. Insta-lust and insta-love kind of fall under the suspended belief umbrella, I suppose.

I'm not sure I like Ian. He has all of the levity, goofiness, ridiculousness, recklessness, impulsiveness, irresponsibility, and irreverence as a frat boy. And SELFISH. I mean, he isn't even taking seriously the irrevocable changes he's making in Mairi's life.

There was a bit of a confusing jump when Ian was standing at the honeymoon bedchamber door where Mairi was suddenly thinking about how Ambros said she never looked at him the way she looked at Ian, but it seemed very random. Like it was just dropped in there. It was jarring enough that it took me out of the story for a second.

Ohhhh my God, the scene with Mairi and Ian in the hidden chamber under the kitchens where he pinned her hands over her head and said "Come for me". Ya'll, listening to Tim read that (Audible version) made me *melt*.

Mairi saying good bye to her dad, and the boys saying goodbye to their grandfather and uncles, especially knowing that their grandfather and one of their uncles (Dermit) would be hanged, brought tears to my eyes.

I finally finished up, and this isn't my favorite of the series. Ian had a huge chip on his shoulder the whole time, and honestly he didn't have much of a plot for his love story. It just... kind of happened. The main plot movement was for the main plot, which had been moving along between all 4 books. I wish the whole series had been just a little more in depth, a little more detailed, and a little more flushed out. I liked it, but I craved much more as a reader.

All in all, a good read.

Stealing a Kiss......
Scandalous Scot, book four of the Highlander’s Through Time Series is the final installment of this series. The series was written by Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca with Ms. Johnstone written book one and three while Ms. Mecca wrote book two and four. These two authors worked together and created a great series about four modern day New Orleans brothers whose mother is from the past, as in medieval Scotland. So, the series is a time travel novel that uses this trope very well. (I really dislike time travel novels were the hero/heroine just get on your last nerve with their angst about being from another time.) I loved how the brothers just “jumped” back in time and got on with looking for their mother. Oh, they find love along their journey to. Love it! Ms. Mecca and Ms. Johnstone really took time to think about how their heroes who are modern day businessmen would handle themselves.
Scandalous Scot was written by Cecilia Mecca. Her writing style is quite easy to read. The one thing I did not care for was the use of the F bomb in this book. Yes, I know most twenty somethings will use the word a lot. But I read books for entertainment and I do not want to read that word used causally in a character’s speak especially the hero’s speak!
Our hero, Ian, is dealing with a lot of stuff in his head when he finds his lady love. For love to win the day, Ian must come to terms with his stuff and be a better man. It doesn't stop him from stealing a kiss from a beautiful lass. Our heroine, Màiri, really does not have any real problems to deal with, no evil father, no evil baron or anything like that. There are no real bad guys in this book, but there was enough tension that keep the novel moving along. It was quite refreshing not have a main evil guy.
I would give the book four stars for use of the f word, but I am upping it to five stars for the wonderful conclusion of the series. I am quite sad to see the series end. I enjoyed the various heroes and heroines as well as the secondary characters.
I would give the series a ten-star rating if Ms. Mecca and Ms. Johnston would write a series based on the uncles back in medieval Scotland! I really like them! Hint hint!!!
I received an ARC for my honest review. I really enjoyed this series. I very much recommend the Highlanders Through Time series for a fun and entertaining read.

Ian McCaim is standing in his father's study, and his brother Reik has just disappeared from standing beside him, they were both trying to time travel to the year 1286, holding on to a silver cross and saying a chant.Only Ian wasn't able to say the chant correct, a few weeks later Ian tries again again and he is able to time travel to Scotland in the year 1286and falls in a bunch of snow near Hightower castle,in th the Highlands. Ian walks to Hightower castle and the first person to meet him is his brother Greyson, and Greyson tells Ian all that has happened to his other brothers, and he meets the uncle's from that time in history.A week later Ian is out riding a horse and meets Mairi Kelbrue, she is trying to find Ambrose Dern who she thinks she wants to marry, he is so attracted to her by her beauty he kissed her as soon as they meet. When Ian meets Mairi father who is the Laird of Clan Kelbrue and very strict with her and he says they must be married. Ian thinks this is crazy but will marry her and when he leaves to go back to the 21 Century, she can then marry Ambrose.Ian and Mairi are very attracted to each other but He doesn't want to make it a real marriage and get her pregnant and leave her.The story is set in Hightower castle with the people who love there,Ian meets his mother's brothers and her father Laird MacKinnish, you can feel the love with the family members, and how his older brothers are involved with the history of Scotland.Ians mother has gone back to the 21Century to be with their father,as he is in a coma.Without giving away too much of the story I will say this ebook is just as wonderful to read as the first three books,in the series,I would recommend you start with Rhys story first to really understand how they time travel and why! I was given this ebook as a ARC for my honest opinion and review,I gave it a 5 if I could it would have been higher. The story keeps you so involved you want to keep reading,to find out if all the brothers return to the 21Century,and if the story ends well.I enjoyed the people from Hightower castle, who played a big part in this series, maybe they could have a book too.Julie Johnson and Cecelia Mecca have done themself proud writing this series,I hope you will love these books as much as I have,I thank both authors for letting me read and review these books.

The Highlanders Trough Time Series takes the characters from Medieval Scotland to present day New Orleans and back again. Shona MacKinnish was accidentally sent through time from thirteenth century Scotland to late twentieth century New Orleans, where she marries and raises a family. When she suddenly disappears, her husband insists she has been drawn back through time. Five years after her disappearance, her sons, using her journal and research found in their father’s study, unbelievably embark on their own time travel adventures. Will they be able to find their mother? Will they be able to find their way back to their own time? Will their return help their father?

The final story in the series is the story of Ian, the youngest McCaim brothers, and Màiri Kelbrue, daughter of the Laird if Clan Kelbrue, and where we find the answers to the above questions. Ian arrives in thirteenth century Scotland right outside Hightower Castle, the home of the MacKinnish clan. He is greeted by his older brother Greyson, who immediately enlists Ian’s help in convincing Laird Kelbrue to consider coming back to the side of the Bruce. When the group meets a young woman on the way, Ian is so taken that he kisses her. Not understanding the repercussions of this behavior in the thirteenth century, Ian tells all and quickly ends up married to Màiri. What happens now?

As the story unfolds, the group waits for the arrival of Rhys and Reik, and hopefully their mother, so they can attempt a return to the twenty-first century and home. Ian and Màiri are both shy and confused, married to strangers, and have a lot to work out before that happens, not the least of which is that it is going to happen. This a great story with wonderful characters (past and present) and a perfect ending for the series. There’s magic, drama, danger, an exciting blend of history, and a few surprises. You will laugh a lot and cry a little. Once again Tim Campbell does a fantastic job. His narration is spot on. I am not a time travel reader, but this series is top notch. I enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

This 4th and final book of this time travel series does not disappoint! I am fussy about what time travel books I read. They need to have some semblance of believability to them, some reality for me. This series really does that and then some. Who would not want to go back and meet their ancestors just one time? Irresistible, but not stay there forever.

This 4th book is centered around Ian, the 4th and youngest McCaim brother, who is the last brother to repeat the chant that will take him, hopefully, back to medieval Scotland to find his mother, who disappeared 5 years earlier, and his brothers who time-traveled back to find her and bring her back to bring their father out of a coma..

This is a story of not only Ian looking for his mother and brothers, but really finding himself and happiness which is not his job with the family business. Then Ian meets Mairi and is forced to marry her. Their journey together is sweet, passionate and I just love these 2 together. Ian is a man of great emotion, honesty, and I was literally brought to tears at the end of this book, something difficult to do. This book has it all, wonderful love story, excitement, passion, emotion, family love and loyalty and left you wanting more of this family, particularly their medieval families! The finale and epilogue could not have been better. I closed the cover of my Kindle with a sigh and a big smile, seriously - the biggest complement I could give a book.

Thank you both, Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca, for hours of enjoyment reading these 4 wonderful books!

I recommend all 4 of these books and you will not be disappointed in the final ending story of Scandalous Scot with Ian and Mairi!

I am sorry to see this engaging time travel series end. This final book of the four alternately written by Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca about four brothers who time travel to medieval Scotland was another entertaining addition written by Cecelia Mecca. The youngest McCaim brother, Ian, has followed his older brothers Rhys, Greyson, and Reikart to medieval Scotland to retrieve their mother and bring her back to their gravely ill father. Soon after his arrival in Scotland Ian meets Màiri Kelbrue, whose father is laird of a neighboring clan. Ian has an instant attraction to Màiri and her likewise for him. When he admits to kissing her when confronted by her father after escorting her home, custom indicates that Ian must marry her.

Being the youngest, Ian has always felt lacking compared to his older brothers so he has some issues to deal with and decisions to make before and after returning home with his mother and brothers. One of the issues is his new wife. I was engrossed in how this story of Ian and Màiri would be resolved. Throughout the story, it was very enjoyable how Cecelia Mecca contrasted the McCaim brothers’ use of medieval Scottish colloquialisms and then using and teaching modern-day colloquialisms to their wives. One of the phrases I will remember is “welcome to the club.” You as the reader will have to find this out for yourself. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys lighthearted, time travel historical romances, especially those with sinful, sexy, seductive, and scandalous Scots. I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this work which has in no way affected this voluntary review. All opinions stated are my own. Rating: 4 ½ stars. Steam: 3 ½ to 4 stars.

4 stars: Time Traveling, Highlanders Through Time books 1-4 about 4 brothers who travel back to 1286 Scotland to bring their mother back to 2020.

Total honesty...I’m usually not into time travel romances, not my true enjoyment.

I enjoy reading Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca, so I took a shot at reading this series.

There is a ‘modernism’ in the humour and dialogue (nothing that vexed me).

I love series around family members or a group of friends. I love the series even more when the author intertwines those characters throughout the book series (it’s a pet peeve when authors don’t do that because what’s the point of the series and introducing the characters if they are not going to interact throughout the series). You get past book characters in this story.

I loved the writing around the women empowerment (it wasn’t over the top for me). Badass women rock.

The development and interest in main characters, H/H well paired, and Secondary characters was enjoyable.

Movement of the book flowed for the most part. Book writing/conversation engaging. The Scottish dialogue wasn’t difficult to follow.

Laugh out loud humorous moments.

Romantic /sexual content (kissing, oral and love making scenes) was throughout the book, towards the 60% mark. Nothing over the top, some ‘dirty’ words intertwined rightly in the story telling. 2/5 hotness and steam.

I do believe you should read the books in order of sequence or as a reader you’ll miss the true story telling of the series (brothers).

Ah these Scots...Heavy Duty!! These brothers are fabulous and the fantasy of time travel didn't disappoint.

Ian is the last to travel to the past. He lands right at his mother's family castle and meets up with Grey. He is welcomed and asked to talk to the clan's neighbor, who will be very important when the Scottish War of Indepence happens. The problem the neighbor is not an ally with the Bruce Clan. Since Ian is the PR guy back home they send him to weave his magic. Oh Ian weaves it alright. His meets the Laird's daughter Mairi. What does he do...why he kisses her and while he knocks her socks off his gets a bit handsy. Yep it is caught by his brother and good ole Uncle Ross. His brother and Uncle escorts the two to the castle and Ian is told to keep his mouth shut...does it nope and finds himself confessing all to the old laird. Next comes the wedding. Then the blissful ever after of not touching his wife so he can leave her in the past. Ugh Ian couldn't keep his hands off Mairi with a kiss, staying away from her is not gonna be easy.

The series ended beautifully and I was not disappointed. I again do not care for the cursing and use of the F word and it was used a lot and even joked about using it. Just wasn't necessary. The story flows and again I love how it ended. I really HOPE Shona's brother get their stories...I fell in love with each of them especially Ross and Alistair!!! Fabulous!!

This is the fourth & final book, though I hold out hope for more, in the time traveling series from the wonderful Cecelia Mecca and Julie Johnstone. Ian, youngest of the McCaim brothers & our hero, journeys back in search of his older brothers & mother in a bid to save his sick father. Màiri our heroine is determined to marry Ambrose who she believes herself in love with, unfortunately her father is in dispute with his clan and will not agree to the match. A chance meeting by the loch changes our couples lives forever, realizing it was not true love she feels for Ambrose, Màiri discovers passion in Ian’s arms. Determined not to want her for fear of hurting them both when he returns to his own time, Ian pushes Màiri away. Clan disputes and politics cause our couple problems but ultimately love finds away and our couple realize they are meant to be together. Where they end up and if Ian completes the mission he set out on is for the reader to discover. I have enjoyed this series as it has introduced me to the time traveling genre, which I don’t normally read. I recommend this book and all in the series, I am a huge fan of Julie’s and am grateful to her for introducing me to the fantastic Cecelia Mecca. The only thing is I am sad about is that it is the end, so far!

Ian has watched his brother disappear before his eyes and now it is his turn to travel back in time to find and bring back his mother. When he arrives, he lands just outside his mother's former home and is greeted by one of his brothers. He soon learns that his brothers are all accounted for and their mother has already been sent back home. But they still have a job to do before they go back to their own time.

Màiri has taken herself to the loch when she sees a strange man approaching her. He ends up kissing her and then confessing all to her father. This of course ends with them married. Having planned to marry her childhood friend, Màiri is not happy about this. They agree to not make it a "real" marriage knowing that Ian will go back to him own time. But as they spend time together that decision is harder and harder to keep.

Will Ian be able to convince Màiri to give up her life in the past for one in the future with him?

I really enjoyed Ian and Màiri's story. I love that Ian made Màiri believe that she was beautiful. She had been hiding behind her birthmark her whole life and he made her realize that she did't need to. I loved watching these two get to know one another and fine their other half. This was a great ending to a wonderful series!!

This is the fourth and last of the four McCaim brother stories about their time travel back to Scotland in search of their mother who was sent from the 13th century to New Orleans before they were born. Thank goodness, she taught them how to ride, hunt, love Scottish history, and the eldest even got a degree in Gaelic. In this book, the youngest Ian makes final arrangements with his cousin for the care of his father and the shipping business snd travels back in time with the necessary cross. He is so glad to see a traveler to save him in the freezing cold, he kisses Mairi and just then, his two uncles appear and escort her to her father's castle. When Ian confesses to kissing her, the Laird immediately orders the two to be married. Ian finally sees the way of these times and agrees. The whole wedding party travels back to his mother's family castle for the reception celebration. The plot is full of Ian's adjusting, meeting one brother and his wife, trying to steer clear of his wife, while waiting for his other brothers to travel in winter to meet so they can return to their own time.

Oh to be Ian McCaim’s love interest . *Pounding Heart *

I felt this was the most beautiful and intense book of the series. Ian grows so much in these pages.
His journey is powerful, both from the immediate and intense reaction to Màiri, to his position in the brothers from baby to equal.

Màiri is the daughter of a neighbouring Laird who is very devout in his religious views.
Finding Ian has ruined his daughter he demands a marriage. Ian being honourable agrees , however things are not all rosy in their relationship.

Another man loves his wife but does she love the other man or Ian?
Two of his brothers and his mother are still missing, will he see them again?
Will his father recover from his coma?
And can they all return home?
Do they even want too?

So many questions, if you want some answers, get reading .

Brilliant book and series.
If you ever fancy trying a Time Travel series, make it this one .
You won’t regret it!
