Sinclair and Raven #1-3

The Sinclair and Raven Collection

Rate this book

Read this blockbuster series today! Regency romance with a touch of magic from USA Today bestselling author Wendy Vella

Legend says the Sinclairs heightened senses are a result of a long ago pact between them and the powerful Raven family. To Honor and Protect those of Raven blood is their creed.

SENSING DANGER

Arrogant and aloof, James, Duke of Raven, is determined to forge his own path and to hell with folk tales that his ancestors created. But when the breathtaking Eden Sinclair saves his life by risking her own, their past resurfaces, and with it comes the uncomfortable realization that they are linked by more than history.

SEEING DANGER

Miss Lilliana Braithwaite has always appeared a woman of little sense, with a tendency to dress like a color-blind field mouse. Dev had, for two years, ignored her until one night he finds her on the streets of London, attempting to rescue a child, and thereby hurling herself into danger. From that day forth everything between them changes, and in Lilly he finds the woman who could tame his heart. However, she does not appear convinced by that fact.

TOUCHED BY DANGER

Healer, Essex Sinclair understands her family’s heightened senses are a result of a long-ago pact between the Sinclairs and the powerful Raven family, but has always struggled to feel worthy of bearing the legendary Sinclair name. Unlucky in love, Essie has resolved to live a quiet, solitary life as a healer and leave passion to the young and foolish.
When Max Huntington falls into her herb garden, a bullet hole in his side, her only intention is to heal him quickly and send him on his way. Then she touches him, and from that moment on, fate steps in with dangerous consequences for them both

I had already read the first two stories but not the third one and could only find it in this boxed set of three.
Sensing Danger - I did skim read this one about Eden and James to refresh my memory,
Seeing Danger - Dev and Lilly, I had just finished this one.
Touched by Danger - Essie and Max. Max literally fell into Essie's life. Wounded by a gunshot he fell into her garden while she was tending it. Being a healer she took him in to help tend his wounds. He's a difficult patient and insists he doesn't need her or anyone else to look after him (as he falls on his face) but Essie knows he needs her care. There is a strong attraction between them and both of them are afraid of it. Essie, because she's been betrayed by her feelings before and Max because he has cultivated his emotions to protect himself from the cruelties of his life.
They both try to keep their distance from each other but love wins out and they finally give in to their feelings for each other.
I've enjoyed every book I've read by Ms. Vella and encourage you to give them a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Sensing Danger
I enjoy this series so much. It’s a skillful blend of regency, paranormal, romance, and suspense that just wouldn’t be the same without all the different pieces that make it up. My journey in this series started quite a bit further in, but now I’m finally taking the opportunity to come back and see where it started. Eden and James are an interesting pairing in a bit of an Odd Couple way. She’s free-spirited and opinionated and embraces every last one of her emotions. James, while equally opinionated, is much more reserved and doesn’t have a clue what to do with strong emotions other than supress them and lock them away. The history is that Sinclairs save Ravens, but is it possible that Ravens can save Sinclairs too?
Seeing Danger
What happens when two protectors clash over the best way to keep everyone safe? You get the dramatic battle of wills between Devon and Lilly that’s at the heart of this book. Dev is a natural-born protector and nurturer. Everything he does is to make sure that the people who matter most to him are safe, cared for, and well-loved. Lilly has a bit of a momma-bear streak that she’s kept well-hidden from most everyone, along with the ‘real’ her. She’s carefully maintained her independence to be able to help the street children she’s dedicated her life to. When her cause puts her life in danger, she learns what it means to be one of the people who “matters” to Lord Devonshire Sinclair. At this point, I adore the extended Raven and Sinclair families, because it’s in the family interactions that this series really shines. The mystery is good, the romance is fun, the paranormal abilities are a delightful twist, but it’s the family drama that keeps bringing me back book after book.
Touched by Danger
I’m not sure exactly what it is about this story, but it just isn’t my favorite in the series. From reading farther alone, I really like Max. In his own book, I thought he was sort of “meh”. I wanted to connect with him and Essie better, yet it felt like they were written at mostly the surface level. There was gold to be mined from Max’s backstory however, at the end of the book, it wasn’t utilized to the fullest. I can sympathize with Essie’s crisis of self-confidence, but it got repetitive. Even the plot of someone trying to kill Max felt surface-level. The ‘big reveal’ is handed to us a fait accompli and we’re never given very many details. I love the melodramatic villain pontificating about the Master Plan, which means I felt very shortchanged here. I still love the series, and I love who Essie and Max grow into later in the series, so I’m going to keep reading.

Bravo , three books in a series, read in order for best enjoyment

The first book starts with an incredible rescue by Eden Sinclair and introduces you to the Young Duke of Raven and the seven unusual Sinclair siblings. The characters are engaging, witty, funny, and endearing. There is a bit of magic entwined in the two families connection that plays out in each of the three books. Each book builds on the previous books definition of characters although the story arcs differ. The first book the Duke of Raven is being hunted by a killer. The second book we meet Lilianna a cousin of Raven. She disguises herself in society to hide from matrimony. Dev Sinclair rescues her several times. She runs a respite house for street children and has a mysterious man seeking her demise. In the third book we meet Max Huntington who falls in Essie Sinclair garden from a gunshot wound. She saves his life. Their attraction is instantaneous and pulling and they spend much of the story confused and denying the pull. It’s so much fun to read about these families and their love for each other. Even their breakfast table talk is fun and the children’s interaction with the adults is just so heartwarming. Yes there is adventure and some anxiety producing parts but the story doesn’t linger on them and draw it out. It’s more about the growth in the relationships and how love heals and strengthens a person. These stories are for people who like romance, fun families, sweetness, and growth.

Historical Romance with a touch of paranormal

I loved this series. Unique Take of the historical/renaissance romance genre. A dash of paranormal made this series unique and intriguing. Only issue is the inconsistency with the ages or the characters & even the names of some of the minor characters. *Spoilers ahead*Cam would allude to bring a “growing lad” and constantly eating, then his age is stated as 28! Then his older sister Essex’s age is stated as 27! Finally the sisters talk about “coming out” and “being closed to on the shelf” but it’s clear they are much, much older than when the usual society ladies comes out which is usually 15-16 years of age. Cam’s sense is “smell” but he didn’t smell that his sisters were “intimate” with their men? And the littles getting kidnapped multiple times-🙄 that made no sense when their older brothers are constantly being called overbearing & over protective! I don’t know why the editors didn’t catch this and clean this up.
But I stilled loved the series!!!

#1 Sensing Danger

Two families, with ties going back generations, now face a new crisis. Unfortunately, they all must start from a situation of suspicion and wariness, but over time and the life and death situations they face, a new comradeship develops.
A good story, which may need tissues towards the end.

#2 Seeing Danger

Again we are entertained by the delightful antics of the Sinclair clan, together with the Raven connection.
This episode sees Devon find the mate, but she isn't what he was expecting. There, off course, are more drama squeezed in these pages, as well as quite a few chuckles. Laughter and suspense, all rolled in together.

#3 Touched by Danger

This episode we encounter a wounded man, who lands on Essex's doorstep, only to be treated, healed and then loved.
However, it off course couldn't end there. There is a lot more drama and intrigue to be found in the tales that will certainly entertain you.

Great Collection!

This is a great collection of stories by author Wendy Vella with the first three books in the Raven/Sinclair families series. I loved how she laid the groundwork on the intertwined family history and the Sinclairs’ special gifts. One would think that you had all the pertinent information in that first book, yet there always seemed to be a little bit more or deeper information that was woven into the following stories in this collection. In doing so, the stories stayed fresh and even more intriguing. The family characters were all very believable and quite interesting in their own light, while the villains meshed into backstories and necessary storyline continuance. Having the three stories in a box set was a wonderful find; I’m hoping more will be grouped for sale in the future.

Marvelous, incredible books.

This compendium covers the first three stories of a series about a duke's family who, in the 1300s, was saved by a commoner. The then king so valued this duke that he enobled the savior's family and charged him and his descendants with protecting the duke's family. In the current generation, the Sinclair (savior's) family consists of 7 children. This tells the tales of the first 3 children who find their soul mates by saving three random people who are all descendants of the Lords of Raven from some generation. Each history is creative, well-written, and peopled with fully developed personalities who will both enchant and draw you into the action, leaving you with a demand for more. I cannot say enough good things about Vella's stories except DON'T MISS THESE!!

I enjoyed this set of regency books about the Sinclair and Raven families. Parts may have been a little far-fetched, but the writing is very good. I liked that the author is skilled at writing dialogue so there aren't long summary paragraphs to wade through. The character of Cam Sinclair had some very funny lines which made me think Ms. Vella is a very witty author. I liked the strong female characters in the three stories, and the men with whom they fall in love. I did notice some grammatical errors which I thought a good proof reader should have caught, but I was impressed with the use of dialogue which makes reading a story much quicker---and which takes skill to produce.

Sensing Danger...
An engaging and enticing regency romance with a hint of magic. This book is first in the Sinclair and Raven series and starts off with James and Eden. I enjoyed their story and romance.

Touched by Danger...

I love this Family soooo much and want more of them! Three books of this family is not enough so I need to get the complete set in this series!!! The Sinclairs are quirky, humorous, loving, adventurous and so much fun to read about. Their journeys are never boring and their love and connection between themselves and their love interests are wonderful and amazing. Oh, to be part of that family 🥰 The men are strong and dashing, and the women are resilient and determined, so there’s a lot of drama in the mix. This is my first time reading Wendy Vella’s work and I’m very happy that she did this box set 🙌🏽

Captivated by the Sinclair and Raven families :)

This was quite the pleasant ride through these 3 books! I love the love stories with a touch of paranormal and mystery. Many likeable characters and as they intertwined between the books, it keeps the attachment. Of course I have my own favorites, but there are all likeable, even the over protective and over bearing Dev. They all have a heart of gold. I am definitely continuing the journey to the next set of 3.

Enjoyed The first three books in the series. The characters were well developed and interesting. There was a bit of a rush to end the book and I would’ve appreciated a little bit more storytelling or for the story to continue. I’m looking forward to the next three books because I really enjoyed reading about these families and their adventures

Wonderfully written

These books are great. They are not over inundated with sex and have a fair amount of action. The heroine and heros match in strengths and weaknesses. A great read.

I enjoyed each of the stories. It was easy to get invested in the characters as they're likeable. Some parts feel a little disconnected but I still can't wait to read the rest of the series. Wendy Vella is an author I follow and own most of her books. They're fun to read.
