Three Shadowhunter titles in one collection: The Bane Chronicles, Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy and Ghosts of the Shadow Market.
Delve into the world of the Shadowhunters and follow the adventures of Magnus Bane, Simon Lewis and Jem Carstairs in these companion titles to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series.
These short stories are written by Cassandra Clare, with Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Robin Wasserman and Kelly Link.
Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Tehran, Iran and spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her family, including one trek through the Himalayas as a toddler where she spent a month living in her father’s backpack. She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old.
Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. She spent her high school years in Los Angeles where she used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including an epic novel called “The Beautiful Cassandra” based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name (and which later inspired her current pen name).
After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe malfunctions. She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006 and hopes never to have to write about Paris Hilton again. Cassie’s first professional writing sale was a short story called “The Girl’s Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord” in a Baen anthology of humor fantasy. Cassie hates working at home alone because she always gets distracted by reality TV shows and the antics of her cats, so she usually sets out to write in local coffee shops and restaurants. She likes to work in the company of her friends, who see that she sticks to her deadlines.
City of Bones was her first novel. Sword Catcher is her most recent novel.
Hace siglos que no leia nada de Shadowhunters, fueron un buen abrazo de bienvenida al mundo, lo extrañaba bastante y gracias a la cuarentena pude volver a leer algo de esta saga que me tiene tan maravillada desde los 14 años.
I read Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. The small telling of Simon from The Mortal Instruments Series going to the Shadowhunter Academy and a few other short stories. I would recommend reading that series before reading this book. Also, if you read The Dark Artifices before this book, it might give away a few spoilers but nothing to major. Also add to The Red Scrolls of Magic a little as well. We all know Cassie's books connect in some way or another.
I love the world that Cassie has created! I have read all of her series in the Shadow world. To this day she is one of my favorite authors. Now this book is a co-write with a few other authors just like The Bane Chronicles and Ghost of the Shadow Market. I have read two those also.
I like this book and it was nice to finally see how Simon became a Shadowhunter and how he dealt with losing his memory. The small details that you catch about how certain things come to life in the major series in this world. Also, few back stories from other characters in The Mortal Instruments and The Dark Artifices series that you don't get in those books. When you love a series like this those extra clips and extension are amazing.
I gave this book 3 stars because if you aren't all into the Cassandra Clare books and her world this book would not make sense to you. It can be a stand-alone but I wouldn't recommend that at all. So, if you're not willing to take on those hefty reads this book would not do you justice.
Amo las historias cortas, complementan y dan vida al mundo que tanto me gusta... si te gusta cazadores de sombras y quieres saber más estos libros son excelentes además son muy amenos de leer y las historias no van cronológicamente por lo que puedes leerlos por pausas.
I read the Tales from the Shadow Hunter Academy. There are lots of small stories in all from Simon's POV. I really enjoyed getting stories from the other older characters in the former series. During the class lectures.
The compilation of little stories were fun to fill the time when I wasn't looking for a heavy read. I was not particularly attached to any of the stories, and will likely never read any of them ever again. But it's a nice addition to the Shadowhunters world if you love the world and want more after reading the other main series.
