All Whitney wants is to go to dinner with his boyfriend and ask him to move in with him. Instead he winds up kidnapped, a mistake for which his family will harass him relentlessly—and which his kidnappers will swiftly come to regret. Author's This book is a sequel to A Game Most Dangerous
Megan is a long time resident of queer romance and keeps herself busy reading and writing it. She is often accused of fluff and nonsense. When she’s not involved in writing, she likes to cook, harass her wife and cats, or watch movies. She loves to hear from readers and can be found all over the internet.
This was a short quick read that I liked and wished this book was longer. I have read this author before this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.
Shorter than the first by a few pages. I did enjoy this one more than Rain’s story. Nice to see Whitney isn’t ordinary himself. Now there just needs to be a story where the two of them have an adventure together.
This was the sequel short story to A Game Most Dangerous and it was delightful! It filled in a lot of the blanks left at the end of the first story and did so with so much humor. How I wish this was the start of a full series! The lore Derr created here has so much potential for more stories, and Whitney and Rain are such a cute pairing.
Cute but too short story! (And it was a sequel, definitely need to read the first book - it can be read as a standalone but reading the first one will probably give me more insight).
My problem always with this author - I am always wanting more!
Really I just downloaded this because I was curious how such a short story got such high ratings. That it was free didn't hurt. Still wow. Great world building for its length. MC was strangely complete somehow and the story was funny and action packed.
It’s a fun, short read but there’s lots to take in about the world and the characters’ background—a bit too much for the length of this, that I think I’m missing something and that this is just a bonus story to a bigger series or something? (It’s my first time with this author so I’m not familiar with their works yet.) So yeah, more of a snippet of a bigger story and it’s more action, slap-stick-ish comedy than a romance. In fact, there’s scarcely any romance at all that it barely feels right to label this MM romance.
While it’s well-written and entertaining (not a fan of the heartless killing, though), it really feels like a teaser preview or sample read more than anything so I can’t say I like it because I can hardly get a grasp on the characters as it is, and I really am not too keen on the MC being named Whitney, haha. It’s… just not a cool guy name.
Got this free everywhere (Apple Books, Kindle, & Smashwords). Not sure if it’s permafree or just free for the holidays, but I’m inclined to think it’s the former since this really isn’t even a complete story and feels like it’s meant to just be a sample read.
Cuteness! Loosely set in the range of Dance With The Devil series, but not allied.
Whitney has a big night planned, but it doesn’t include being kidnapped by incompetents. Especially, by someone who sorta knows something about him and his family, but not really.
So they take him to a housing construction site, and hustle him downstairs to a cage. Ummm, are you serious?
The only thread not followed, is who is behind it all, so there is another book or three in this approach. Can’t wait!
It's a playful romp with an enhanced young man in a monster-hunting family. He has a boyfriend, but this is only a minor part of the story. I don't think I've read the prequel. There's lots of humor. The young man is more worried that his plans have been interrupted than the fact that he has been kidnapped. I'd be interested in reading more of this series. Typos: several sentence fragments (e.g., "One of them said,") missing apostrophe (guys keys), easy for easily.
Great sequel to what was a very fun short! This time it follows Whitney when he gets in trouble himself, getting kidnapped for ransom the night he has a date with Rain. The entire interaction of the kidnapping is amusing and it lets in on Whitney's side of what makes him and his family unique. Great read!
There's not much really to say here. We spend more time with Whitney toying with his kidnappers and some world-building than with Whitney and Rain. If this was the entry for a larger story I'd read the heck out of that story because I liked what Megan Derr did here with the paranormal world, alas I haven't seen anything more coming to fruition.
3.5⭐ I like this a little less than the first one. It's very funny, though, once you realized what kind of person is Whitney, and what his profession is. His dad and siblings's reaction to his kidnapping is also gold. I stand by what I've said in book 1: I wish there's a longer version of their story.
Entretenida y corta, igual a la primera parte. Me gustó que esta vez fue Whitney el que tuvo la aventura. También me gustó que dieran más información sobre el mundo y los personajes. Me gustaría leer una tercera parte.
The writing really felt childish, and the characters were not believable. This idea could potentially be thought out better/more in depth and make a decent fantasy series with the back story alluded to here.
Not a romance, and I feel like maybe I got hoodwinked by that. More like action/adventure of guy who happens to be late for a date with his off-page boyfriend.
