Daniella has everything she needs for a quiet Christmas at home with her dog, Fabio. She’s got way too much food, a real Christmas tree, a cable station streaming non-stop holiday movies, and even fruitcake. All she needs now is an ornament for her tree…
But what she gets instead is a glass dragon imprisoning a gorgeous naked guy from another world.
Trey, fae dragon knight, protector of the realm, and defender of the fallen crown, has finally been released from his spell by a kiss from a beautiful woman (and her noble hound). His power hobbled, his dragon form embarrassingly small, he finds himself navigating a strange world of wonders like televisions, refrigerators, and ham sandwiches, absolutely enspelled by a woman who swears she isn’t a witch.
Then Trey discovers that the enemy from his homeworld is starting to spill into Daniella’s and it will take power he no longer has to protect her… power that is locked in Daniella’s heart.

A waitress finds her mate in a Christmas ornament...
This was exactly the short, sweet, and sexy read I needed. If you're familiar with Zoe Chant's books, then you know to expect unlikely yet undeniable romance, quiet but enjoyable humor, and a hero and heroine who don't want each other but learn to need each other just the same. I love Zoe's books, and I'm happy to say I enjoyed the start of this new series and look forward to more ♡
3.5 stars - I was expecting a traditional paranormal shifter romance, and found a lot more fantasy than I expected, which worked out really well. I like Zoe Chant’s stories and this one I found to be funnier than most. I loved the cast of mythical beings, especially Robin. Trey comes from a parallel universe and is a dragon knight shifter, imprisoned by a curse in a Christmas ornament and released from the spell by Daniella. I liked watching the world from Trey’s eyes, how technology is magic in his view. Daniella and her dog Fabio were cute. There’s intrigue, we have the Darkness threatening the world and Trey’s missing friends, which I imagine will all get books later on. The romance was quirky and endearing, but the book might’ve been better if it would’ve been a bit longer. Enjoyable and looking forward to the next one.
I was privileged enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this book from the author for a voluntary and honest review. Thoroughly enjoyed this book until I got to the end. I was looking forward to reading the next story with Henrik & Gwen until I read it doesn't come out until next Christmas. If it's gonna take a year between books I won't be reading the rest until they're all published. If I can remember this one after that long.
i… I – I JUST CAN’T GET INTO THIS!? And I’m sobbing because it’s about FUCKING DRAGONS and I’m not a little bit interested. What is my deal this month?!
*quietly goes into the dark corner to cry and sit in the dark*
This book was so fun n. I enjoyed it and it was a great Christmas story and I've already bought the next two. The romance happened pretty quick but it was adorable so I didn't mind too much. Definitely a great book to just sit back and enjoy.
Dragon of Glass begins the Fae Shifter Knights series with a funny, engaging romance with sinister undertones for the future. A little different in some ways, this series also has a long time between stories frame with each main character’s story given to us around the holiday time. As a reader who loves to binge read or at least have a steady flow of stories in a series this is going to be hard to wait for, to be frank. I’ve reached an age that looking at three or four main characters each getting a book once a year is a very long time.
I love the idea of this series, of a parallel universe where our Fae Shifter Knights have fought valiantly and been tossed into our world under extreme conditions. The story is both humorous and well, the only word that really applies is sinister. The villains are vile and the heroes are somewhat held back by how they came into our world. I loved Trey and Daniella together – she really did accept Trey quickly and with a true dragon heart, she stepped into battle when needed. I adored Robin, you’ll understand when you meet this character. I think Robin captured my heart more than anyone else – and Trey with his lovely mate, Daniella certainly did capture me in Dragon of Glass.
I really hope you’ll give Dragon of Glass a try because it holds all of the reason we all go back to Zoe Chant over and over again. A good story, interesting plot, definitely a sexy sizzle, and characters that you’ll laugh, probably cry and dream with. I loved this one and will keep my eyes open for the release of Gryphon of Glass later in the 2020 holiday season.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! This was a great book ! Daniella was only searching to the perfect ornament for the Christmas tree. How was she to know that the ornament was a real dragon. Trey has been imprisoned in his dragon form. Now, he is free thanks to Daniella. However, Trey soon found out that the evil is in Daniella world as well. Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
This book is unlike anything you’ve read before. It’s full of imprisoned dragons, glass ornaments, fables, keys, epic battle, dangerous darkness, and the poor guy who owns the store. The author really did an amazing job of creating this world and taking us on a journey to experience the life and people in it. I love how quickly all of the characters connect and the HEA they achieve for the featured couple. I especially enjoyed the way the author set us up for the next book. I can’t wait to see what happens.
Who doesn't love the idea of a Christmas ornament come to life? I think my main issue was the instalove and the quick acceptance by all the characters of things that should be impossible to believe. Also the big bad just didn't feel all that bad. There wasn't the real feeling of fear or apprehension when the characters were faced with them. They felt like the big bad from a cartoon, where it's just enough that a kid wants them defeated but not enough to scare them.
What I did like was that Daniella isn't blonde and out next heroine is Korean so it seems like this series is going to deviate from the standard tall white blondes over populating literature and that is absolutely wonderful.
The concept of Robin confused me a bit, especially when they were first introduced simply because of the use of the word they, I kept trying to figure out who the secondary person was in the word. It took me a bit to understand.
The premise is interesting but the book could use more world building and moved a bit too quickly because it didn't take the time to establish all that history and world building.
Overall though I liked the book and look forward to the rest of the series.
Bought From KINDLE UNLIMITED Title: Dragon of Glass Series: Fae Shifter Knights #1 Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Zoe Chant Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Serial: Standalone, No Cliffhanger Genre:#PRN Dragon 5Stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ •••••••••••••• 💢Oh my what a phenomenal Christmas story that starts off this series. Can’t wait for #2 wow!
🔹️ Daniella just got a job as an assistant at a antique shop she had to inventory a warehouse full. First time in this warehouse she see’s a beautiful glass ornament of a dragon, she has to have it. It’s like the ornament is calling for her to pick it up. When she does pick it up life takes on a different meaning!
☄️ This review is my own opinion, this author is one that I love to read her books. When she describes what touching the glass ornament the experience is so real. You just have to read it and see for yourself.
Zoe chant hits it out of the Christmas stocking! lol
Ok other than some annoying inconsistencies this is a great series. It’s what I expect from the many Zoe’s. However I think 2 Zoe’s may have worked on this series together because they could not agree upon the female characters and on of the male characters hair lengths lol a very silly thing to focus on I know but it was annoying when your visualizing the story in your head and in several of the books the females hair is constantly changing. Daniela in beginning of book hair goes from long curly hair cause the dragon. Was imagining her long hair fanned over her pillow under him, then later in book her hair is short cropped locks cause he ran his fingers through it. It throws you off. Cause your like wait? Wtf happened? 3 chapters ago she had long hair. And Gwen in book 3 went from long straight black hair when hienrick was washing it in the shower then several chapters later it was short and then long again. It was confusing my hair does grow that fast. Same book not throughout the series. Even one if the guys hair went from short blond to long blond then shoulder length brown. (In same book) Now you are warned you won’t get as distract as I did. Lol 😂 ignore their weird hair issues. And you got great stories here. Lol So basically a FAE REALM WORLD IS DESTROYED BY Cerad and his bleaks & dours. Shadow evil entities that take over people and make them “ridden”. Possessed and turns them aggressive violent and angry wanting to hurt and destroy. The 4 fae shifter knights, A DRAGON, UNICORN, GRIFFON {kitty bird} lol & PHOENIX (FIRE BIRD) {Why can’t she just call Tadra a Phoenix?} whatever. are caught in a mix of several spells cast during battle and they are trapped inside GLASS ORNAMENTS of their beast. And pulled into our world by ROBIN “a they” is an androgynous Fable made entirely of pure magic entity (NOT A FAIRY) LOL. CERAD wants to take over this new world and destroy it like he did the fae world. Robin “a they” must find the “keys” to free the knights from their glass ornaments by finding their fated mates who are a key (a key is a fated mated human) and they are the knights connection to our world and help them unlock the magic within each knight) in order to fight Cerad his bleaks & dours. Before our world is destroyed. Each key. Finds an ornament and releases the fae shifter knights within. Teach them to navigate this modern world and unlock the magic before it’s too late. These stories are unique and have a holiday theme because the veil between the realms thins from Halloween till the end of the year. So each of the 4 books in series. takes place between October November December January Over a period of 1 year and 3 months. These books are standalones but also cliff hangers so, read in order. HEA, No triggers, very little sexual heat, but some romantic intimate scenes. Not very graphic.
This is an OK Fae shifter romance, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 3 stars from me.
The story was a bit too short to have enough character development. I would have liked more backstory on both Trey and Daniella.
I thought the characters were interesting and creative, but thought that both Daniella and Trey adapted to their situation a little too easily. Trey woke up in a completely different world, very different from his own, but adapted surprisingly well (and very quickly). Daniella didn't really even freak out when a naked Trey just appeared in front of her, and she accepted that he was a shifter from another world almost immediately. I just didn't think their reactions to what had happened to them was believable at all.
I did like that Trey immediately realized he had to help the people of Earth, and tried to protect them from the evil beings from his world. I also liked that Daniella agreed to help him, and that they discovered she could enhance his magical abilities -- because she was his "key" to Earth's magic. It made sense that they would fall in love, since they were so good together.
One problem I have with all of this author's series is that there is so long between books. Lots of times I have to go back and reread some of the earlier books in a series, simply because it has been so long that I don't remember all the characters. That is frustrating. I know Zoe Chant is actually a group of authors, and that this series as actually written by Elva Birch -- but I wish the books in a series could be published closer together.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
I just finished Dragon of Glass by Elva Birch and wow… i love love loved it! Such a cute read. This book hits all the cozy romance/fantasy vibes I didn’t know I needed, which is mainly cause I don't read many but with a favourite narrator reading it in audio format i had to listen and i am glad i did. Now I need more! Daniella, our FMC, is such a relatable lady who is just trying to live her life, but then buys a cute Christmas ornament and somehow ends up releasing a dragon knight from an ornament and gets drawn into another persons world issues. I mean… how wild is that!? The romance element is hot, playful and full of those swoony moments. Trey, the dragon knight, is gorgeous, polite, totally clueless (and adorably so) about modern life and just… chef’s kiss. The banter between him and Daniella had me laughing, swooning and occasionally kicking my feet (sometimes all at once). And let’s not forget Fabio, the dog, whose basically the best sidekick ever. I love animals in books!!! I listened to the audiobook version as I said and the narrators did amazing jobs bringing the characters to life. Trey’s voice (Travis Baldree) had just the right mix of charm and gravitas of a knight, while Daniella’s (Stephanie Nemeth-Parker) reactions were perfectly expressive and had me smiling. I loved how the narration captured both the humor and the tension of the story and it really made the magical chaos feel fun and you felt their struggles. These narrators are some of my favourites and always do such justice to the books they read and this is no exception. Honestly, the narrators deserves a standing ovation. The delivery was flawless, the pacing kept me hooked the whole time or smiling, was so easy to follow and the emotions? Spot on. I could feel the swoon, the humor, the tension, it all landed perfectly. It made the story even more immersive and fun to experience. If you like fun, romantic fantasy with dragons, magic and a bit of holiday charm, this book is a total win. Can’t wait for the next audiobook!
We were asked to read all four books of the series and reviewed them together. Parts of this review are also available at the other Goodreads links in this series (Unicorn of Glass, Gryphon of Glass, and Firebird of Glass, and our full review can be read at The Smut Report.
Heat Factor: There’s on-page sex, and it’s not lengthy or highly detailed
Character Chemistry: It’s the kind of fated mates where the horniness is the first clue
Plot: It’s the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)
Overall: Playful, low stress fantasy adventure
My notes: This is a good lead-in for the series. It introduces all the players and the problem, and the protagonists have only just met so even though they’re super horny over each other (hello, fated mates!) they’re not quite ready to simply jump into bed and a relationship. If you like a playful, low-tension fantasy romance that plays a little bit (I mean, Daniella named her hound Fabio “because of his fabulous hair”), then this is a great choice.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. We disclose this in accordance with 16 CFR §255.
Jingle bells and magic spells Daniella has everything she needs for a quiet Christmas at home with her dog, Fabio. Heather's Notes This was my Christmas story of the year, but will not be my last. I really like Trey and Danielle. I felt like her power was obvious, and I don't understand why it took so long for them to figure it out. However, it was still enjoyable. My only really complaint, is the use of they or them for 1 person. They or them is plural, which means more than 1. I get that it was a way to be non gender specific, but that is what it is for. So the correct pronoun, it pulls me out of the story every single time.
I loved Daniella and Trey’s story - falling in love while saving the world. This is the first book in this series. It is an exciting fast paced story full of love, danger, drama, silliness, and some mystery. Plus there is a hot protective magical dragon. Daniella purchases a beautiful dragon Christmas ornament made of green glass from the second hand shop she has been hired to do inventory for. Trey is a magic fae dragon warrior from a parallel dimension who is released from the ornament when Daniella kisses it. Now the evil that trapped Trey is trying to enter our world. Trey and Daniella must bond with each other in order to help save this world. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, end of the world scenarios, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, plot twists, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. It also includes witty dialogue, characters with depth, and an engaging storyline. Now I am off to read the next book and read about the next shieldmate.
This is so cool. I have no idea where Zoe gets her ideas, but I am just blown away! I have loved almost everything written by Zoe Chant, but some more than others. This one is at the top of the huge number I have read. Trey is a dragon shifter who is from another world. Daniella has just freed him.from a trap. She has an Afghan hound, who adds a lot of comic relief to this story where evil has followed Trey and his shieldmates into this world. I don't want to give spoilers, so I won't say anything else.
This is a fast paced book with a hopeful tone and a storyline that is both action and character oriented with some steamy scenes and vibrant characters who draw you into the story. Combine that with a hunky Dragon shifter and some rather different magical beings and you have a winner on your hands. If you have never read anything by Zoe Chant before, this is a great starting point. If you have read her before, this is even better than you might expect! Enjoy! I can't wait for the next one!
Dragon of Glass: Fae Shifter Nights Book 1 By Zoe Kindle unlimited purchase Daniella's parents moved to Florida and now she is on her own. When her parents moved they took all their Christmas decorations so now she is starting her own collection and she has found the perfect ornament to start it off. A green, blown glass dragon with outspread wings. It was hanging in a ring of white glass, but looked like it would sit freestanding as well if it were unhooked from the gleaming circle. Trey, a Dragon Knight from another universe is trapped in the human world. Looking for his shieldmates: Henrik a griffin, Rez a unicorn, Tadra a firebird and their teacher Robin a fable. To be in Trey's shoes and "wake up" in a new world, to see things like a refrigerator, a tv. Things that we "humans" take for granted. Must seem like magic. I enjoyed this book. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series when it is out. (Hope that is soon).
What a fantastic imagination! This book is full of new concepts and I just enjoyed that. I have to admit using they pronoun drives me nuts but I started understanding it. Daniella is a bit out there in her way of thinking. I sure liked Trey considering everything. When he first changed into a small dragon that was a good laugh. The only part that I didn't understand was if magic is so different here how was it that darkness could open portals so easily. Seems like that should have been as difficult for them to do based on magic alone. Or perhaps I'm looking at it wrong. Poor ansel how well did he take the disaster that happened. I really enjoyed the new concept and can not wait for the next books in the series. It will be tough waiting a whole year for Gwen's story.
THIS WAS SUCH FUN... and the wait for the next one is the prime reason why I usually only read series once they are complete. However, it does align with the narrative so maybe that's why it's been done here despite it being a very short book.
The execution of this is very similar to A Witch in Time in that the dialogue for the displaced H is so very believable as is his confusion for all things in this new technological world he finds himself in. And, this book also includes a (casually) non-binary doll-sized fairy character and an afghan dog called Fabio who really is a character as much as the others. I LOVED this book and could almost forgive the (yes, yet again) instalove!
An amazing first book in a new series. Daniella is spending her first Christmas alone. While interviewing for a part time position, something catches her eye in the antique store. A glass dragon ornament. As soon as she touches it, a strange feeling hits her. An innocent kiss before hanging it on her tree will forever change her life. Trey has no idea how long he was trapped in the glass. He does accept the pull he feels toward Daniella. When the evil from his world spreads to her, the two of them will have to work together to stop it. A fast paced read that pulls you in. A mix of action and romance. Great holiday read. I am eagerly awaiting more. This is my voluntary opinion of an advanced copy I received.
Daniella finds an ornament that features a dragon, in a thrift store that she is going to work at. She is drawn to the ornament. She feels strange when she touches it. When she gets home she does something and a man appears. Trey comes from a different world where darkness descended and took over. He was trapped in the ornament as a way to escape. There are four other people similar to him that came to this world at the same time, but he doesn't know where they are. Soon the darkness tries to come into this world also. Daniella and Trey must figure out how to stop them. I love that there are different beings in this story and series. Dragons, fae-type beings, gryphons, shadow beings and more yet to be discovered.
Freakin' Heck! The next book won't be out until the next Holiday season (and by the way this story went - one every year).
I really love Zoe Chant's Firefighter and Wildfire series and this one is just as good - just really hate the yearly edition to the series route, but understandable due to the story.
I love this new cast of characters and I am really looking forward to the rest of the series. I loved Trey, Daniella, Robin, and Fabio and can't wait for more Gwen. The new minions for the big bad are really insidious and are great for causing havoc. Robin is a new kind of character, for me, and I really hope that they will also have a book.
Overall, I would say it is a great quick and you should grab it now.
There was some funny moments in this book but what had me cracking up was the after story on Zoe Chant's website : https://www.zoechant.com/burnt-offeri... BURNT OFFERINGS " Look, we’ll salvage this,” Gwen promised. “No, not that, there’s nothing worth saving on that plate. Scrape it into the trash and we’ll load up the dishwasher.”
“Lady Daniella trusts me with this service!” Trey agreed cheerfully. He and Fabio were two of a kind, desperately eager to please. “Then you will show me how to cook for her with technology?”
“Oh, I’m going to show you the very best technology.” Gwen grinned at him, pulling out her phone. “I’m going to show you how to order from DoorDash!”
Robin cackled in amusement."
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I think it was a solid effort overall, but the pacing felt rushed, with more telling than showing. From the beginning, I was hoping for a cozier fantasy atmosphere and a more gradual emotional build, rather than an immediate “I’m in love the moment I see him” shift.
The main character is introduced as a loner, so the sudden jump to “yes, let’s live together and be together forever” felt abrupt and unearned. The shop was set up as an interesting element, but it never really came into play, and I had hoped more of the story would unfold there.
That singing saves us all was really a groaner.
As a result, it read a bit like fanfiction in places. That said, the Audible narration was very well done and definitely elevated the experience.
So this week it seems I'm all about finding the Zoe's other side. This book is not like any of the other Zoe books I've read. You have a Dragon from another realm... a Dark presence threatening our world, and missing heroes. I'm very excited to see where she will take us in the next book! The world is fascinating, and whilst it still is a HEA at heart, it has a element of real threat that seems to linger. They still have the Boy meets girl at its core. And there is still a feeling of love at first sight, but this book has the feeling of the start of an epic fantasy journey about to unfold. Really looking forward to the next book.
This novella was okay; nicely written, but I'm not sure I want to continue with the series. It's a light-hearted fantasy romance paranormal story with the hero being a dragon shape shifter that appeared from another realm via a Christmas decoration. There was insta-love and the heroine just accepted him for what he was. I thought the character development wasn't there, so I didn't really connect with the H/h much and found myself skimming the second half. There were several action scenes (good-v-evil), that reminded me of some of the fantasy movies out there at the moment - with a neatly tied ending, no doubt leading into another story.
*WARNING* intended for mature audiences This was so good, I mean it has a dragon shifter! I could just picture a dragon the size of a cat that it be jeweled green, I want one to perch on my shoulder too! The whole parallel universe thing has been done, but how he gets his powers is original. I am extremely intrigued by Robin! It has no gender, no human characteristics like nerves, veins, or muscles, but it does have a heart. It's constantly referred to as they or their. Is it more than one being? Is it meant to find a mate? Will it ever get enough magic to become strong again? So many questions! I will be reading the next book and probably ALL of this series!!
Working in a second hand shop gets you some perks, like finding neat things when you go through the inventory. Daniella picks up a pretty new ornament for her Christmas tree and gets the surprise of a lifetime: the ornament happens to contain a dragon-shifter warrior from a parallel universe who's been trapped as a glass ornament since losing a terrible battle on his homeworld: a battle that just might have followed him to Earth.
A fun romance with a dash of fantasy adventure! You get a cute and hot soul-bond-like relationship, a menacing possibly world ending threat and the hi-jinks of a person from another world dealing with every day life on Earth. An enjoyable read, recommended!
