In 1925 she married George Ronald Rougier, a mining engineer. Rougier later became a barrister and he often provided basic plot outlines for her thrillers. Beginning in 1932, Heyer released one romance novel and one thriller each year.
Heyer was an intensely private person who remained a best selling author all her life without the aid of publicity. She made no appearances, never gave an interview and only answered fan letters herself if they made an interesting historical point. She wrote one novel using the pseudonym Stella Martin.
Her Georgian and Regencies romances were inspired by Jane Austen. While some critics thought her novels were too detailed, others considered the level of detail to be Heyer's greatest asset.
Heyer remains a popular and much-loved author, known for essentially establishing the historical romance genre and its subgenre Regency romance.

It's Georgette Heyer. Don't read her unless you happen to like sparkling dialogue, acute characterizations, accurate historical fiction and decent romance.

I love these books! I am a Georgette Heyer fan and I think any woman or girl who likes a period romance with fun situations, wonderful heroes, lovable heroines, and witty dialogue must read Georgette Heyer. These books have nothing objectionable in them at all. So for a little light reading, pick one up!

Georgette Heyer is witty and knows people so very well! She is quite my favorite author. My top Heyer regencies would be Grand Sophy, Venetia, Frederica, Spring Muslin, Cotillion, and Talisman Ring.

The beginning was difficult, and as I don't speak/read French, there were certain phrases I never could understand, but once I got into the story, I discovered wonderful characters whose story was a delight to discover.
