This book opened my eyes to another way of looking at Castro and Cuba-- a way that has made me unpopular with a lot of expatriot Cubans. It was my first introduction to the appeal of revolutionary politics and is an amazing portrait of a very charismatic man. It has been hard to reconcile the way he is now with the way this book showed him to be. This book is a great snapshot of the early years of Castro's regime and continues to inspire me with what can be done when individuals unite themselves with a common goal for social change.

This book is mostly a long interview with Fidel Castro circa 1965. Lockwood's questions are very insightful and overall it's pretty interesting. There are some really nice photographs as well.
