The first book blew me away because I didn't know what to expect and loved what I got. This book was lukewarm because I knew what I wanted but everything kind of fell short of my expectations. Boy does it suck having to write that!

Summer had everything to be an interesting heroine but she managed to ruin everything she touched and lie to everyone for no reason other than to "not worry them". She was also so dense when it came to her love spiel. I understand that what people consider love can vary but would it kill her to try and understand where he's coming from and why he's so averse to her kind of love and that his way of expressing love is just as valid even though she may not like or understand it?

The Winter Prince was actually lovely in this book! He was understanding, kind, and loyal to Summer and his friends. He literally ruined his life (*in a way* I can't explain because of SPOILERS) for Summer. He proved himself time and time again only to get shot down by Summer time and time again. By the end of it, I just wanted him to find someone who actually appreciated him and leave Summer to the wolves or faeries, in this case.

I feel very strongly about how annoying the ending was. It felt like the author was pulling every trick out of the bag to make a third book necessary in this series. I don't know how many books are planned but things could have easily been managed if ...

In conclusion, I feel ripped off. Couple that with all the unnecessary drama, secrets and the overly mean mean girls/gang(?) I'm just tired. I'll probably put myself through the next book in this series because I want to see the Winter Prince have a happy ending because he at least deserves it after all he's been through.

The Audio Book:

The narration was great! All the voices were distinct enough for me not to get lost during the narration. There were no weird noises in the narration.

Listened to the audiobook and it was fantastic!

The stakes are higher. The fae crueler. Valerian sexier. And Ruby... well, that little drunken sprite is hands down my favorite side character ever created.

2.75

I was really torn over this rating. On one hand, I completed the book, the writing is competent and I like this world and characters.

On the other hand, I found a lot of Summer's choices and reasoning incredibly nonsensical. She chose to come back to this school and world, of her own free will, but constantly finds herself angry and confused over the way that the world operates. It would have been one thing if she had come back hoping to change things or a renewed sense of purpose or even had resigned herself to the fact that despite the way that world operated, she wanted to be in it. That part was never really fleshed out or explained in a coherent way. People are supposed to be contradictory, complicated and messy - but in a book, that has to be conveyed properly.

Also, at some point, she just accepted she was the Summer Court princess? It felt so strange. She constantly referred to herself as the princess but never really expressed confusion or a sense of loss over that identity, her old life, her new life, and the way her life circumstances prior to entering Fae world shaped her. It was honestly kind of creepy and weird. I would have understood her hesitation to be with Val if it was from a sense of confused identity (see The Brightest Star by Jennifer Armentrout and how she handles that) but it seemed like her resistance was mostly a bunch of kind of lame excuses that didn't feel real or urgent. Again, it's totally normal for people scared of love and to put up very dumb or futile reasons to resist love. But that wasn't explained or handled with skill.

I also find that one of the things that's key with boarding school fantasy series is balance. It's really tricky to get that balance of teen/new adult romance, day to day trivial school/life/teen things right while also balancing the larger world, dark forces, impending doom, etc., right. If it's done correctly, it's a really beautiful, engrossing world and book (re: Harry Potter series, Armentrout's Covenant Series). I found the balance mostly okay in the first book but in the second, it felt off. As you move through a series, obviously the stakes get larger, the mysteries deepen, things get a little darker. Sometimes it felt incredibly anachronistic compared to the things Summer was talking about. Again, the issue isn't that Summer is normal and having normal teen freakout and school things. It comes down to the writing, pacing, and the ability to skillfully balance the light and dark, fluff and heavy, etc.

In general, there were a lot of random plot devices or things thrown in that just didn't make sense and were clearly injected abruptly to introduce other characters or situations. It felt really distracting and as much as I wanted to be sucked in, I kept finding myself going wtf, and not in a good way.

This book would have done a lot better with a lot more editing. I wanted to like it a lot more than I did. :( Hoping the third book turns it around!

Summer is back with a vengeance, she totally kicks some major ass. While things aren’t Perfect, Summer traverses through some epic challenges with her friends and of course the Prince of Winter. Some old enemies have returned and a new one, has arrived to add to Summer's nightmare.. This book is epic, so many twists in the story, while some you can figure out, others are jaw dropping... I can’t wait for the next book of this series!

This was so frustratingly exhausting that I wanted to DNF it on principle. Whatever possessed me to finish it has been exorcised. Thank goodness!

Summer, the FMC, very recklessly jumps from from danger to danger, utterly helpless every freaking time.

The entire book is a chronicle of Summer needing saving because she stupidly aggravates dangerous people/creatures then, quite recklessly waltzes head first into danger, with no sense whatsoever, and no plans. Include more stupid and impulsive decisions, some emotional BS about mating bonds and a very pathetic attempt at romance... and there you have it.

A plot!!!

Boy! Do I want to beat Summer over the head 😪for every frustrating word I had to read.

Of course, this is a hell freaking no to book three. I just can’t!

2.5 stars.

This was so disappointing. This book just didn't have the same sort of excitement that the first one did. The first book had this push and pull thing between Summer and Valerian that was exciting to read. But when it comes to their relationship in this book, I've never been more aggravated in my life.

I loved the first book, but now I don't think I even really care to read the rest of the series as it gets published. Such a bummer.

3.5 stars due to the final scene.
I was disappointed with this one after enjoying the first very much.
Didn’t like Summer, being always right and the smartest person around yet acting so stupid over and over again.
She felt like a terrible friend and was stubborn as hell.
I didn’t get the same feel for the winter prince who acted as a whipped school boy (which technically he was 🤷🏼‍♀️)
I loved the final scene, it was the first interesting story and made me even consider reading book#3

I am excited I finally get to finish this series. Yes I waited until the final book came out to read this!
description

I went through withdrawls after reading that first one and I was not going to do that again! But now I get to go back to this kick butt magical world.

In some ways this book did what I expected and in others it did not. But I loved every minute. I enjoy our heroine a lot (though sometimes her selfishness can bug). And the plot was as chaotic and to the point as the first. Time flies in Summer's second year at the school. She has changed a lot. And new villains crop out of the woodwork. But onto the...

SPOILERS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Can I just say I hate Ruby.

description

I hated her in the first one and hate her even more in this one. She just seems to be a cop out that Grey uses to make things go crazy. She is always causing problems and is the reason that Summer gets into so much trouble. And besides that I just don't find her likable. She is supposed to be spunky and funny, but I just find her annoying.

I do like Summer, but some things she did in the book also annoyed (not as bad as Ruby though). The way she didn't seem to care about Mack or notice when she was having such a hard time. She just seems so self centered. And her pushiness with Valerian and the whole love thing. Her reasoning behind it just seemed childish.

I knew there was going to be the whole we can't be together trope (because it is the middle book so they can't be together yet), but the reasoning behind just came off as lame. But expected for a lot of books in the genre.

description

I did like having more Eclipsa in this book. She is a super interesting character. At first I was bugged that it looked like Inara was still the big bad villain, but I am glad they changed things up with Hellebore. Though I don't think that he is conspiring to wake up the grandfather.

I hope things finish off in a unique way. It could go either way. The books ending and the plot could follow a similar formula to a lot of similar books, but I hope Audrey Grey finishes off the series without following that formula. We will see soon.

Damn, this book!!! This is the second installment in the Evermore series and definitely makes you coming back for more! Not to mention, how gorgeous is the cover? Yes, we get an explanation for it as well in the book. I like it when covers also make part of the story somehow.

This book continues soon after where Winter left off. Summer, is back at Evermore for a new year and she is definitely on a tight leash cuz of all the incidents from her previous year. She is stronger and more of a badass when she returns for year 2....or so we have been told. I was a tad confused about her attending Summer court during her break but there was no mention prior to this or later as to why? However, let's just say, she keeps up ending in the middle of stuff either from her own choice or some a-holes not leaving her alone. But I like she doesn't back down and only gets stronger and more determined to get back at the fae who wronged her and her loved ones! Go Summer!! Kickass!!

We have a new and despicable character Spring Court Prince Hellebore. He makes her life miserable along with her usual list of Inara and her passe. Dude is seriously messed up and he has an agenda. What? Well, you just have to read and find out ;)

Lots of things are happening. She's still struggling with her soulbond to the Winter Prince. He is less of an a-hole here and is definitely keen on solidifying the bond she shares with him. However, Summer is struggling with her human emotions and wants more than just automatic pull of the bond bringing them closer. As the story progresses so does their interaction throughout the book. I wish there was more Winter Prince around but he was also missing for parts of the book. We do find out what he was up to. But it seemed he wasn't attending school like rest of the fae. I was a tad confused at times.

I love Mack. She is definitely growing as a character as well. She is struggling in her own way but it is understandable. Her and Asher are cute but I would have definitely liked a bit more for them. Eclipsa, is badass and is definitely more in this book. I liked how she is helping Summer train and get better at it.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I would have preferred a bit more fleshed out scenes/details shown for certain things vs. being told --it happened x days ago. More showing less telling....works better for me. However, this book definitely kept you on edge as to - you know something is going to happen but you're not sure when and how....but know it is coming. Yeah, things happen and how they happen ultimately, leading to a mofo cliffhanger that I'm not sure how it will pan out. Some questions get answered. More pop up, of course. I hated some characters. Others were predictable and vindictive. We get to meet the Summer queen and jury is still out on her. We shall see.........

Go read it. Then we can all virtual hug each other!!

I received an arc from the author. I volunteered to review this book.

The second book in the instalments opens with Summer`s return to the Academy. She had had that much of a fun last time that she insisted for a “bis”.
This time, her relationship status is more clear (that is, for the readers. She does not have any idea what is going on). She is cherishing her every waking moment with the crowned prince of the Winter Court. He checks all the boxes that imply the most: he is the most beautiful; the most powerful, etc.

We love him.
There is no question about it (except for the last part when he weavers in saying “I love you”. Ugh, that was hard to watch- and not for any of the obvious reasons).

The book is a medium read.

I want to get that out of the way so I can concentrate on the marriage thing. So, apparently there are some big issues when it comes to relationships (shocker!).

They lean towards creepy and nonconsensual (even when they are not supposed to appear like that). Let me give you a well deserved example: When Summer (the protagonist) starts a conversation with the Winter Prince about past relationships, he flaunters the carpet of exes under her feet (#impressive). When she asks about her past self and her relationships (i forgot to mention that they all involve sexual acts; they are not talking about platonic relationships, just to be clear) the WP tells her that she wanted to wait until marriage to “seal the deal”. She did not have lovers. The score was: infinite // 0, for Summer.

Ok, that was not something unheard of, but it is uncommon in the fantasy genre, such an act of abstinence, especially in the latest publications, (it reminded me of New Moon). It felt off. Everybody seemed to “have at it” around her; she was five hundred years old and supposedly, very hot. But, again, that was not the problem, that she wanted to postpone sex until marriage. The issues that I am having with that claim is that the focus falls on how she was a martyr for their love affair. It is implied that she sacrificed any kind of sexual pleasures that she might have had, for the sake of "making it official." Why would you do that? Are you afraid of losing him? For whom does she keep her virginity?

The weird part began at the end of the book when

At that point, I was eager for an end. In what kind of world, a being that is said to be like an almighty in terms of magical powers, lets herself to be chained under a pretense scheme?

I mean, they are fae, they were supposed to have more than one lover at a time and then, you are telling me (after declarations like: how cruel and vicious and perverse those beings are) that they abide by this Christian rite that ensues monogamy? Why?
Because the magic gets transmitted like a venereal disease?
This kind of nonsensical conclusions are bound to happen when the magical system in a made up world is just a sketch and not a clearly lined structure.

There are ups and downs that have to be more carefully looked over, but it is a pleasant read for tired eyes.

*** 4.5 STARS ***

Spring is a great continuation to the Evermore Academy series and I enjoyed it even more than the first one! I was happily surprised at how the author decided to continue the story. After the revelations at the end of Winter, I thought there wouldn’t be any relationship development between Summer and Valerian and all was just done. But how wrong I was! Things don’t fall into place just because everyone thinks they have to and it made me love Summer’s character more.

The plot is full of intrigue, action, survival, mysteries, revelations and twists...I really enjoyed it and I did not feel it was dragging at any point. Summer stands up for herself, continues learning and having her little adventures, she finds new enemies and she continues fighting to find her place. She is definitely not a damsel in distress. One of the things I love the most about this series is that we get to see Summer developing relationships with other characters rather than just focusing on the love interest. The story gives great importance to friendship and family. Love Love Ruby!!!

I would have loved to see more interactions between Summer and Valerian though, getting to know each other better. I felt there were not many and they were mostly focused on the same topic.

I am really looking forward to reading the next book, Summer, the ending was amazing and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Wow. Second book. Still really good.

Personally for me, the second book lacked a little bit of excitement and was slow paced at the start. However it soon picked up and Audrey has delivered more twists and excitement than I could have ever imagined! Particularly for me, the differences between the faerie and the human emotions was portrayed hauntingly and beautifully and I may or may have not cried a bit.

But I appreciate a book where the romance is not smooth-sailing, where there are fundamental differences between the two different characters and it is something that both have to work together to overcome.

Saying that though, the romance DID NOT take over the whole plot! Which was fantastic. A lot of books I read has a romance plot that somehow overtakes the main storyline, and that personally is disappointing and boring. The plot with Hellebore and Summer's true identity is amazing.

Summer - a fantastic heroine that I love. She is fierce, strong, and not afraid to fight and won't let anyone break her. Saying that though, she does have many human qualities that we can all relate to.

Can't wait for book 3

Okay, so from a purely objective viewpoint, this book deserves five stars. The world is super interesting and I feel like with each chapter I learn something new about Evermore. The characters are written so incredibly well that you either absolutely loathe them (think Professor Umbridge style hate) or absolutely love them. There is a lot of romance, which I'm always a sucker for. The pacing is fast and there's always a new problem to solve or a plot twist I didn't see coming, which means there's hardly ever a dull moment. Plus I love the cover.

So why am I giving it only three stars? Well... I just don't think this book was right for me.

There might be spoilers below, so beware to anyone that likes going into books completely blind.

ONE
I really don't enjoy tragedies or books where everything always goes wrong for the MC, and I can definitively say this book falls into that category. It feels like practically everyone in Evermore is out to make Summer's life miserable - and trust me, they succeed over and over and over again. I don't enjoy the pit of doom I feel in my stomach when I just know nothing good is going to happen to the MC.

TWO
By around mid-book I was starting to get super frustrated with Summer's obsession over getting Valerian to say he loved her.

I felt like he was making a lot of sacrifices for her and was doing the best he could to express his feelings. He is thousands of years old , whereas Summer is only a teenager. I feel like it's unrealistic for her to expect him to completely revert thousands of years of his culture just to say "I love you" - while simultaneously refusing to budge on her own ideals and meeting him halfway. To me, his actions pretty clearly showed that he loved her so it seemed unnecessary to force him to say the words out loud.

It especially pissed me off considering how the book ended.

THREE
The general style of the first person narrative and dialogue in the book wasn't my favorite. I don't mean this to say that I think the writing is bad - on the contrary, I actually think it is written very well. The problem for me is more the fact that there is a lot of present day slang and references. For me, the more informal style of the narrative pulls me out of the fantasy genre and isn't something I love.

I'll keep reading the rest of the series because I'm interested to see what happens next. I'll keep my fingers crossed that things end up a little better for Summer (and Valerian) in the next book. It may be false hope, but I hope they eventually get their happily ever after.

Helle what?!?
I did not see the ending coming at all! My heart is shredded but in the best way. I can't wait for the next book to see how Summer turns everything around.
I really enjoyed catching up with Summer and Mack and her pixie Ruby that treat stealing foul mouthed loyal to a fault crazy whirlwind fae. I also loved feeling the development of the connection between Summer and the winter prince. This second year was full of adventure, romance and deception rolled into the craziness of combining the Spring court evermore with this school. Hellebore is my new evil dude you love to hate, he is so sneaky, cruel and loves bringing chaos to the school. He gets to make the rules because his season is the ruling fae court for the year and he takes full advantage of the opportunity to introduce terrible challenges to make things harder on the mortals. But Summer prevails with the help of a few friends and a gift for controlling animals. Wait until you read about the griffin...
This story took me on an emotional roller-coaster and I never wanted it to end.
While I personally don't care for the use of the f word so often in the book and I felt that other words could have been used to convey the same feelings, I understand that not all people will have an issue with the language. However due to the language used and the mature content, I can't recommend it to younger readers, I enjoyed the story and recommend it to anyone who likes fae stories of a more adult nature. I will say that I appreciate the fade out scenes when things get steamy.
All in all a very artfully told second year story that draws you in from the first chapter and holds you tight until the last word.

Oh. My. God. So Much Excitement!

Holy crap! I love this book! I was so nervous to read it because of where Winter left off. I love that we get to see the Winter Prince’s vulnerable side. I love that he opened up to Summer. I love that Summer’s secret is now out in the open. I love that she no longer has to hide everything. It’s going to create some new challenges for her (and everyone) in the next installment. Ruby was phenomenal in this book. She was absolutely hilarious and I cannot wait to see how she handles all the changes. I absolutely hate the Spring Prince. I cannot stand him. I hope he gets what’s coming! And I hate how the Winter Prince and Summer continue to be separated. I’m looking forward to reading the Summer installment and finding what happens next. This series is amazing and I’m so excited there are two more books. I can’t wait!

Already in the first 6% there is crude talk and a lusty, tension-filled scene between the romantic couple. Is this what we have to look forward to in this book?
Just lots of lusty thoughts as the FMC tries to keep her distance for Reasons and the MMC tries to seduce her?

Because... I'm already considering DNF'ing.

Will there be a plot? Where do we go from here?

****Okay, I spent some time going through reviews and yeah, I’m going to quit while I’m ahead and move on. I liked book 1 (gave it 3.5 stars) and I highly doubt I’m going to like this book.

Other reviewers said:

1) the FMC makes a lot of stupid, rash decisions

2) everything goes wrong for the FMC until the reader has a perpetual sense of foreboding and doom hovering over them

3) the stubborn teenaged FMC keeps pushing the Winter Prince away because she wants to hear him say “I love you” even though all his unselfish and self-sacrificing actions speak for themselves. Plus, he has thousands of years of fae culture to overcome in order to comprehend what this mortal love that she requires looks like, but she’s not willing to make any compromises in understanding what love looks like to HIM.

I’m cutting my losses.

It sounds like this should have been a duology, not a trilogy.

After digesting this story for more then a week, I finally feel ready to write this review. I really enjoyed book one Evermore: Winter. I devoured it and thought about it for nine months, LOL. So I was really excited to get an opportunity to read Spring.

The author has this incredible way with creating worlds. I cannot get over how detailed and realistic, yet magical everything in this story is: the worlds, the creatures, the fae, the humans, the clothes, the food. In this story (without spoilers) there is less action and more political intrigue and we really get to dive into the details of the who, what, when, and why of a certain Darkling issue. I really enjoyed the introduction of the new character, thought I expected more from him, I think he will bloom in the next book. This story is addictive, I never wanted to put it down and I really enjoyed it from beginning to end. And can we talk about Ruby for a minute? She is one of my favorite characters EVER!! She steels every scene she is in and I am always wanting more of her.

I did have a couple of issues that didn't work as well for me in this story. One, is that Summer is selfish in this story. Two, this story has a darker undertone that I cannot shake. I received an ARC and I am leaving my honest review.

Ahhhhhhh cliffhanger alert!!

I remember after reading the first book in the series, Evernote Academy: Winter, I was left with the following questions [minor spoilers for the first book follow]:

- Is Cal Miller alive?
- Does everyone know WP’s real name now?
- Is the Darken still alive?
- Is Chatty Cat Hyacinth’s familiar?
- Is WP’s father evil? What’s the history between him and Hyacinth and WP?
- Can darklings be cured?
- Why did the WP brand Summer, knowing the pain it causes? What’s the point?
- What actually happened with Summer’s parents? Is there any truth to her nightmare? Was the true memory erased?
- What kind of future can a human-fae relationship have given the darkling issue?
- Is Summer’s necklace the same as Hyacinth’s soul stone?
- Do Inara and Reina have any redeemable qualities?
- Reina’s backstory
- Is the forbidden bow and arrows a present from WP to Hyacinth? Is he the one who wrote the dedication?

Pretty much most of my questions have been addressed, at least partially in this second book, with the exception of the last three points. Which is awesome, because this sequel is jam-packed with storylines. Not only do we get more of Summer/WP, Mack/Asher, and Eclipsa, we also get more storylines featuring WP’s parents, Summer’s parents, and meet new characters like the Spring Court Prince Hellebore, who really stirs shit up for our beloved characters.

I cannot wait for the next book, Summer, and I really really REALLY hope my heart doesn’t break reading what happens next.

I didn't know how Grey was going to top book 1. We were left with all kinds of questions and I knew she would have to pull something of magical magnitude to top the first portion of the story.

AND BOY DID SHE DO EXACTLY THAT!

There's so much revealed in book 2 and we finally get some of the answers we were hoping for. But as we watch Summer and the gang explore the new season and all the chaos that it brings, we're faced with darker situations and even more high stakes situations. The heat is on and if Summer can't stay one step ahead of all the pretzel-y plot twists, she's going to go down in flames!

Also, I don't think I've ever laughed so much in a book! Ruby Ricin is probably my favorite character in the history of ever and I really wouldn't mind an entire book with her as the lead. Talk about loyal and fearless! Oh, and that ending... I'm probably going to be a puddle of emotions on the floor for a week. Thanks for ensuring that my heart is broken and that I'm trash for any other book, Grey. Well done!

I read Winter last year and really loved it, but this one fell a bit flat for me. Part of this could definitely be because I picked this up almost a full year later which likely did me and the book a disservice. (My reading tastes have also changed in the last year).

I would've loved more interactions between the Winter Prince and Summer. The conversations we do see (about whether WP is capable of love) felt over the top and Summer's ultimatum about saying the L word felt a bit immature, especially after he had shown her through his actions everything he would do for her. Apart from the romance, the plot was just hard for me to follow and some of the character actions hard to understand. The writing is well-done and I am curious how it all wraps up, but I don't know if I'm going to read the next one.

(Unrelated note: I still love Audrey Grey's Kingdom of Runes series and am STOKED for the final book of that one to come out! If you want more fantasy romance books, definitely give that series a try!)

I was very disappointed by this book. The first one was ok, it had its issues, but it was decent enough for me to rate it 4 stars and want to keep reading. But this one...it just solidified all the issues the first book had. There was too much fluff and not enough character development or plot development. It's almost like the author's personality is coming through more than the characters' personalities. There's a lot of plot holes or rather things that just happen and aren't really explained. The world building isn't fully established, it feels like the author just makes things up as we go along. And then nothing happened throughout the entire book--just a bunch of push and pull, the same stuff happening over and over again. Then all of a sudden we get this book surprise ending that makes you want to buy the next book to find out what happens.

I don't often say this shot second in series books, but EA Spring was even better than book 1. Like ILB good.
I am 5000% ready for book 3 after that equally wrenching hit powerful ending

Mac continues to be the BA and utterly loyal best friend who I only wish would walk in my presence.

Summer is her usual sarcastic self who struggles with a certain bond along with other fae... Things.

Speaking of other fae, we meet a new villain in Helabore and he is definitely a loathsome thing.

All I know is that book 2 will stay in my head for a while. Man, it's like covid it's just turning up the creativity in some of most well-loved authors thisv year and I am so here for it! 🙌

A good series but...

When the heroine because so unlikeable - a petulant, strong willed, stubborn, drama creating brat - the story becomes tedious. I love the premise of this and there are so many wonderful ways the author could go. But. Summer. She doesn’t want to understand. She doesn’t consider. She’s foolish. Doesn’t consider others. Ultimately is selfish. Others would find her character endearing. I find her quite idiotic and wonder why her friends have such fierce loyalty to her when her words are often empty. Of course, you won’t notice that. Not sure if I’ll continue to the next book. But. Never know.

Summer Solstice is one fighting MC. Even though she puts herself in certain predicaments, she's always searching for a way out to get want needs to be done. She wants her freedom, she wants her family to be safe and she wants to be with the one she loves. I love this series, I highly recommend it. To whoever like fantasy, love and adventure. Can't wait for Book#3...

Hey, hey Ramblers 😀I hope you are all well and keeping out of mischief. Doubtful though...am I right? I knew it lol. Anyway, today I'm bringing you a review that is demanding to be written. I kid you not. This isn't an ARC book, so it's already released, but I need to shout it out to the world that this book needs to be read!!!

please note, though, that throwing books is evil

This book takes this series to a whole new level and Audrey really shakes things up like majorly. Just WOW. My emotions are scarily all over the place...and as I write this review, I may be eating some Betty Crocker Frosting.

This book will hook you in like no other. It has absolutely everything I needed, to wrap its hands around me and just yank me into a whole new dimension. Portal travel anyone?

I got so lost in the book, it was oh so hard to resurface. My brain was having none of this stupid thing called reality. This book will take over, to the point the world ceases to exist...and when you finally claw your way to the top again and realise that whilst in your book-world time had no meaning...in the actual world, many hours have passed you just sit there a moment and it's just like.

The raw emotions this book put me through was truly incredible. Half the time I didn't know what I was feeling or where this story was leading me. I had worked some things out, but then there were other parts that I'm literally just staring wide-eyed at my book freaking out.

The number of times I had to pause, just for a moment, and have a mini melt-down where my brain would just be repeating practically this ↓ very thing, I honestly lost count.

My heart truly feels like it's been beaten and crushed, by the very same psycho people in this story...but if our girl can hold it together, I can too...I may just need a lot of duct tape, to patch me up. Don't worry I come prepared.

Seriously, my brain is all over the place at the moment. I just can't get that terrible ending out of my head...

All I can say is that I was seriously glued to my book. If you ask my mum she'd probably say I looked something like this ↓, just steamrolling ahead. Laser focus and all that lol.

But by this point, you're probably thinking I'm one screw loose from falling apart...and to be honest, my brain is mentally curled up rocking in the corner trying to process it all. Coz honestly, I have no clue how it's going to be fixed! So we shall just continue to freak out internally, until the release in March (which btws is my birthday!)

This world was truly constructed with one goal, to stress me out...why are you so dang good at that? It's one heck of a talent, is all I can say...but just look at me rambling away...I haven't even touched on the plot yet 😂 oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️...I'm going through some internal struggles at the moment.

Ohh, Audrey, you are so lucky I apparently live for this kind of torture, which is kinda scary if you think about it...but man, it is a true adrenaline rush. Am I right guys?! We seriously are a weird bunch....but as much as I'd love to get this book on my birthday may I pwwweeettty please have it like now?

Now that we've established I've completely lost the plot...let's talk a little about this book. I loved, loved so much about this story. I love the world created, it seems so seamless and extremely well constructed. The characters are seriously spot on. When you are meant to love a character you do so, so easily...but with the ones that are wacko you weirdly just hate right off the bat. Sooo many times did I seriously want to do one hella good throat punch or a kick to the jewels lol. I'm not crazy I promise haha. You'll understand this need soon.

But I think, I'd probably be killed dead if I attempted that...so good on Summer for surviving all that. Our girl truly is a fighter...she goes into Year Two positive and ready to make it her year...but of course that can't happen. Fae's forbid. We have new and old rivals and many Fae, playing many a game. Whilst the humans get stuck in the cross-fire.

But with the arrival of some new Fae, from a different academy, Whitehall. Which has us introducing a very big player into this world. The Spring Court Prince, Hellebore. The name gives it away. He's about to raise some hell up in this academy. He is one psycho Fae hidden under a pretty face. Don't be deceived. He is deadly. And he's changing things up. Bringing in new gauntlets for the Shadows to face. So they have to fight for their place and their lives.

But in the midst of all this upheaval, something deeper is going on. There's a shift happening between the courts and it's a game of power. Everyone has their own agendas...and the Spring Prince is after blood. Putting Summer and her friends right in the middle of a power struggle.

Oh, it really has been Luci...Then we have Summer and the Winter Prince trying to work through their very intense bond and Summer's just struggling with everything that comes with that...but maybe the hardest things in life are worth fighting for and Valerian may just agree with me. Smart boy.

“But screw easy. Easy’s boring.” He nips at my bottom lip. “You can’t tell me this isn’t worth fighting for.”

But amongst all this Summer is also trying to understand her background and the fact that the Summer Princess is apart of her, is her.

It's time for her to find her inner power and strength to survive the year...and with her friends and Sprite by her side (man how I love Ruby! She's crazy but loyal to the core), maybe she will pull through...survive another day. That's the goal right? Especially with all these power crazy Fae around. Some will try and break Summer, but their determination to do so only builds that fire in her to stand up for what she thinks is right. Our girl won't go down without a fight.

I’ve never wanted to live more than now, just so I can watch the hateful smirk drain from their eyes as they realize I survived. My will to live is a spiteful, burning thing. Greater than anything I’ve ever felt before.

Many truths will be revealed, friendships tried, secrets withheld, new alliances made and old friendships will burn brighter than ever before. This is a story you do not want to miss. If you were hooked at book one, this one doesn't hold back. It gives everything and more. I feel a book-hangover coming my way. I don't even want to read anything. I kinda just want to mope around...each time I think of picking up another book, I'm just like

Someone send help.

A lot goes down in this story so I'm barely even touching the top layer, to this deliciously torturous book. But the one thing I loved the most, was the character development and to actually see the friendships get even stronger. I felt so much more connected to her friends and I thoroughly enjoyed that particular part of the story growth. Very well crafted. Eclipsa's moment when she opens up about her (Summer) as a friend, seriously, had my heart-melting.

Do whatever it takes to read this book. I mean it. You gotto trust me on this one. If you love Fae books where there's never a dull moment. Hideaway, pretend to work, fake being sick...anything...be creative...aren't book-lovers meant to have that creative streak?

Dive into a magical world where nothing is as it seems, and where even the most beautiful can hide the monsters within.

Now that I have gone and talked all your ears off, I'm going to go. Hope this ramble fest can give you a smile, I know everyone could use one of those. If you have read this book, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Also, don't forget to subscribe if you want to keep up to date with everything I'm doing. :)

I feel the need to give one more plea to Audrey, to end my suffering lol....my words, March is forever away. I gots to have my answers...I need to know so many things...sigh...this is killing me.

Thanks, Audrey, for such an incredible read, I honestly can't wait to read what you have in store for me next. Please be gentle with my heart, it's very fragile at the moment.

Happy Readings Ramblers
