Rate this book
What happens when everything you thought you knew about your past is wrong?

With Kade missing, Ollie enlists the help of Jacob to find Kade. Except Jacob is temporarily deaf, and Ollie is suffering from debilitating migraines, which make them less than a dynamic duo. Both are surprised when it actually works, leading them to Kade’s manipulative family.

A little broken, Kade is no longer whole, and plagued with PTSD nightmares where he has a hard time parsing reality from fiction. Ollie knows the horrific accusations of Kade’s family aren’t true, and he’s determined to prove Kade innocent, even when Kade himself isn’t sure.

Ollie clings to the hope of putting Kade back together and returning them to the peaceful path they’d had before it all erupted. Only something more is wrong than toxic families and misremembered history, and it might just kill Ollie before he can discover the truth.

This MM romance features an ex-Marine with tattoos, a former model with a passion for solving mysteries, a snarky rock star, and lots of family drama mixed with a little murder. Second edition.

ETA for audio: great listen, great series, totally worth it.

4.5 Stars

Model Investigator picks up in the aftermath of what went down at the end of Model Bodyguard (which had a complete WHAT?! cliffhanger ending).

I love this series. Seriously, Lissa Kasey gets better with each installment.

Let me tell you what I loved:

There's communication here, people! REAL, HONEST, COMMUNICATION! Can I get an Amen?

Ollie and Kade talk to one another. Even when one is stubborn and goes off on his own, sooner, rather than later, they talk about it. It's delightful. Open communication, being real with one another...it all makes my heart go pitty-pat.

I absolutely love that there's a realistic timeframe for when someone gets hurt. One of my biggest pet peeves when I'm reading a book is when a character gets shot, or has a concussion, or broken bones, but is running around and having sex the next day. That's completely unrealistic. But here, Kasey gives her characters time to heal. Time to actually get better before throwing them back into the fray. Or throwing them back into the fray, but with them realistically hurt and damaged, and almost dying too.

I love how Kasey incorporates the side characters. Enough to help the story along, but not enough to take the focus off the main characters. Even though the story is told exclusively through Ollie's POV, the reader still gets a good picture of what's happening around him.

Really, this was almost perfect for me. The hurt/comfort here was SO good, the pacing of this story was on point, I couldn't put it down from the first moment I actually started reading...I read straight through. I had a terrific time reading this.

Now, for what you need to know. It's all about Ollie finding Kade, and then finding out what the hell is going on with Kade's seriously messed up family. There's a beginning, middle and ending here to the main story arc: the story picks up after the events of Model Bodyguard and focuses on Ollie figuring out what is happening with Kade and his family, and has a satisfactory conclusion.

Which brings me to the only thing I didn't like: The story ends on a slight cliffhanger again (like the one in Model Citizen) with further questions being unanswered about Nathan, his death, and his involvement with Kade. You're killing me, Kasey. Killing me. I need answers!

In the end though, I loved this. I cannot wait for the next book; I will be among the first in line to get my hands on it.

Audiobook review

3,5 stars

Model Investigator is not a standalone in any way. It’s a continuation of the previous books – especially the last one, which ended with a dozy of a cliffhanger! I think I might have said something about having this book ready to go after finishing the previous one or you might go just a little bit nuts waiting to know what happened. So if you haven’t read the first two books, you need to go back and start there before reading this review as it contains some spoilers from them.

Anyway, Model Bodyguard ended with Kade being kidnapped during an attack that left Ollie badly. This book picks up shortly after that with Kade still missing and Ollie is dealing with debilitating migraines and other forms of headaches. That doesn’t stop him from searching for Kade and in the pit of his stomach he just knows that his homophobic family are the ones responsible for keeping Kade from him. And knowing that Kade was badly hurt when he was taken makes the search that much more intense.

Some time later, Kade resurfaces at a hospital. Physically in decent shape – at least considering the circumstances, but mentally he’s a mess. Not knowing what was real or not, gaps in his memory. Added to that is the accusations his family is throwing around and in general just creating a big mess of everything. Ollie, wanting to help Kade, but also wanting answers for himself and for Kade starts investigating, but the answers he finds are horrifying – and potentially deadly.

A lot of this book is focused on Kade’s past. Past secrets. His childhood, his family. We learn he was sent to conversion therapy several times during his teen years. That his siblings believe him to be mentally ill, capable of gruesome deeds. Everything is told from Ollies POV, we are there when he finds these “truths” and his reactions to them. I liked that he didn’t take it all at face value, but tried to make up his own mind, do his own investigation – but more importantly talk with the man he loved.

As far as the plot goes… well I’m not going into specifics, at least not more than I already have, but it was utterly unbelievable. So leave all notions of any kind of basis in reality at the door because during this trip we are so far from it we might just need HUBBLE to get a glimpse at it. I’m not saying that’s it is wrong or bad, just give you a heads up of what to (not) expect.

You might (not) remember my wariness when starting listening to the previous book, where there had been a change in narrator from book one. I was quickly convinced then that the change worked for the book as the POV changed from Ollie to Kade and they, like the narrators had very different voices. However, with Model Investigator we are back to Ollie's POV again and ideally we'd also be back with the original narrator; Mike Pohlable. But that's not what we got, so I'm a bit peeved about it. I think that's one of the reasons why I didn’t connect with Ollie as much as I used to. Why I didn’t love him as much as I did in the first book. I’ve already “heard” his voice, know his personality. And it was different when Hutchinson narrated. It felt like a new person entered the stage. I kept waiting for “my” Ollie to come out to play.

I don’t mean to say that Brian Hutchison is in anyway a bad narrator, because he’s not. He just didn’t capture Ollie as well as Pohlable did. I didn’t mind that in book two as everything was told through Kade, but this time Hutchinson had to “be” Ollie and for me he didn’t quite get there. As far as the actual narration goes he did a good job of it with good pacing and diction. Though he basically the same voice for all characters. There were some minor change at times, but you had to really listen for it to notice. Still he has a pleasant voice to listen to and sometimes that’s all you need.

There is something about this series and cliffhangers…. Again, there’s a small cliffhanger at the end of the book, but it’s nothing like Model Bodyguard where you end up cursing the author and where you are so desperate for answers that RL just have to wait just a few more hours. This time it’s more new questions being raised and needing answers. Okay, so there’s a little cursing, but hey I like to have my answers when I finish my books, not being left with new ones.

Ollie and Kade are back together! I’ve been in love with fierce, beautiful and broken Ollie since Model Citizen. Picking up where Model Bodyguard ended, Kade is rescued and he and Ollie are trying to heal from more physical and mental trauma. To help Kade, as well as proving something for himself, Ollie goes off on an investigative mission. As much as getting answers about Kade’s horrible childhood, the plot also focuses on the growth and development of Kade and Ollie’s relationship. I did get a few niggles over the investigation, where some events didn't seem to mesh right for me but it didn't change the momentum of the story.

What I like the most in Lissa’s stories is the realism. There's counseling, therapy and doctors, their friends and family, who provide assistance and support. They are humanly flawed characters but there's real communication and honest, if painful discussions. I did really dislike Ollie’s character at one point, with his treatment of Kade, but I appreciated that Kade confronts him and they talk things out. Its not a non-communication trope that blows up into emotional crisis. There are many twists and unexpected developments with Kade's family, plus Ollie has to face his medical issues.

Kade and Ollie get to the point of a near HEA, where their relationship is solid, the business is up and running and even Ollie’s ex, Jacob is getting back on track. Except, much like book one, they discover more about Nathan and added suspicions about his death, that is still in question. While it's not the cliffhanger we got at the end of book two, I'll be anxiously anticipating the fourth story and the conclusion of the mystery.

I feel like I should just step away and not write a review for this book.

I'll just state for the record that I loved the first book in the series and have no freaking idea what happened to the next two books.

One more thing. Still no answers but looks like another book is on its way. I wonder if it will be the answers to the mystery that just vanished...so frustrating.

At least this was back to Ollie's POV even though he is not the Ollie I remember from the first book.

I am a huge fan of over the top and suspending belief when it rolls along and fits and is fun. This was utterly ridiculous. There is just no way that Kade has lived this way for 35 years.

NO FUCKING WAY.

I'm done. Walking away.

This one was so full of twists and turns, and so complicated that at one point I threw my arms up 😱 and said 'WTF???'. A lot of the story seemed quite unrealistic, and yes I know it's fiction but I cannot believe that any family, let alone Kade's, could be allowed to basically get away with doing whatever they want, whenever they want and to whomever they want in this day and age in little town USA without someone creating a huge fuss and bother. Yes, DD [dipstick dad] may have had some or all of the police department in his back pocket, but for God's sake, grow a pair all of you inhabitants and stand up to him!!

Right, now I've got that off my chest, I'm sad to report that we have yet another cliffhanger ending, and I for one am glad that this is the penultimate story in the series, cos I'm getting pretty p'd off with the cliffies [but all should be resolved in the final book...she says hopefully 😕]. Ollie and Kade are still working their way back to each other after the harrowing events of Model Citizen, Kade discovers things about himself that he had no memory of [thanks to dear old dad], and Ollie is having more and more headaches but they did mostly tell each other what was going on. I'm giving this one 3.5 stars rounded up, mainly for the unnecessarily complicated plot.

Oh heavens, this one pulled at the heartstrings.... after a nail biter of an ending in book 2 the story is instantly picked up. Ollie is in hospital and Kade has been taken. I was worried about the angst here, I’m invested in Ollie & Kade and their emotional well being! People like Jacob really stepped up and I’ve decided he’s not such a dick now. This is the journey into getting Kade back and also the exploration of his life. That poor guy went through hell so thank god he has people who love him now. I’m heading into book 4 now and I really don’t want this to end ! Of course this book finished with another hook - smart writing, but at least the boys are together ... there better be NO more separating. Special mention for Newt the cat - adorable is all I can say 😊

After the author left me on pins and needles at the end of ‘Model Bodyguard’, book two in the series, I was eagerly anticipating this novel. I mean, Ollie out cold after driving Jacob’s tour bus on a high-speed chase with a gun pointed at his head, Kade shot with Ollie’s taser and with a gun, bleeding out… oh what could possibly happen next? Everyone who has ever been in love’s single worst nightmare happens next. Ollie wakes up in the hospital only to discover that Kade is missing, stolen out of the hospital by his family, and Ollie has to do everything possible to get Kade back.

"What was I going to do? Walk up to Kade’s parents’ front door and demand to see him? They’d probably arrest me. But I was running out of options. There was no trace of him anywhere, and even Ty’s legal battle to get Kade’s family to give him up was dragging on longer than he had expected it to.”

I really hate Kade’s family. Probably as much as Ollie does, which is why when he gets Kade back, mostly in one piece, Ollie decides it's time to investigate all these things his family members accused him of, things which precipitated his father putting him in mental institutions more than once as a child, beginning when he was just eleven. Ollie knows there's no way Kade would have ever abused a dog or raped a woman, certainly nothing that would have ever precipitated the need for such extreme action. Being gay was about the worst thing, according to his dad, and Kade paid for that multiple times with trips to gay conversion therapy.

This is my favorite of the series.
I really loved how much Ollie and Kade loved each other. And the jealous Ollie is epic!
I can't believe the ending...this is actually what I predicted before.
I know how clingy Ollie to Kade, but Kade need a clingy Ollie.
And I can't believe that Kade can be upset to Ollie too. LOL.
And the public sex is awesome! I never thought I'll see the day Kade's blushing...
Took me a long time to finish this one, because I don't want it to end.
I missed them already.
The ending is kinda cliffhanger, but didn't make me mad.
I'm waiting impatiently to the next book!

This book picks up a little over a month down the road from when the last book ended. Kade is still gone and Ollie is doing horribly. He's having physical problems from his injuries and he's barely functioning emotionally. His friends have stepped up and are helping in every way they can but Ollie knows something has to give soon. As the story goes on they get Kade back but things are still really bad for both men and they have some serious struggles ahead of them.

One of my favorite things about this book was how well Kade and Ollie communicate and how they work through their problems together. I think this author does a great job of showing people being in a healthy relationship. They each have some issues but they work together to solve them and they are a true partnership.

I enjoyed the plot for the most part but I found myself a little confused in places in regards to the plot with Kade's family. It took a whole lot of suspension of reality to follow it. (like soap opera levels of reality suspension) There were some big reveals in regards to that and while some plotlines were wrapped up but one major one still to go. This one ends with a mild cliffhanger (not a big one like last book).

This book does not work as a standalone. You would need to be caught up on the series to understand what was going on here. Overall, I enjoyed this and I definitely recommend it to fans of this series.

Sequel to Model Bodyguard
Haven Investigations: Book Three

With his lover, Kade, missing, androgynous former model turned private investigator Ollie Petroskovic is ready to kick some ass to bring him home.

Ollie and his ex, rock star Jacob Elias, need to find Kade and free him from the clutches of his manipulative family. But with Ollie suffering from chronic migraines and Jacob unable to bear loud noises, they are hardly the dynamic duo. It takes a lot of sweet talking on the part of Jacob—and patience Ollie doesn’t have—to find Kade. Only Kade’s not whole anymore. The fight for Kade’s heart and mind is far from over.

It’s Ollie’s turn to guide Kade through nightmares, self-doubt, and PTSD. Kade’s memories are scattered, fragmented with possible horrors, and he’s not quite sure what is real. Ollie will have to draw on his investigative skills to clear Kade of the terrible accusations his family has made and help Kade unlock the truth. But in doing so, he ignores his own health, which could have catastrophic consequences for everyone, especially when digging up the past could be lethal for them all.

Review:
This is the third book in the Haven Investigations series. Do you need to read the other two books to follow this story? I am going to say that you should read the second book, Model Bodyguard. This story picks up with the cliffhanger from the second book. Many of the characters are from the second book as well. My bad, I still have not read the first book. I really need to keep better track of the series that I really enjoy. When I wrote my review for the second book, June seemed so far away and now it is July. Anyway, Model Investigator is just as exciting as Model Bodyguard. These two characters are so in love that nothing will keep them apart. The chemistry between Ollie and Kade is hotter than ever, even with all the obstacles that they have to face. Unlike book two, this story is mainly told from Ollie’s point of view. The pacing is just as intense as book two with new problems happening in almost every chapter. Jacob, Ollie’s ex from book two has become someone that I never saw happening, and he offers some much needed comic relief. There are many subplots, but they are all connected to Kade is someway or another. Although this book does not end with a cliffhanger, it is pretty clear that we have not seen the end to the Haven Investigation series, jumping for joy on that note. We do get more insight into Kade’s character, his upbringing, and why he is the man that he is. It seems that no matter what happens to Kade, the survivor in him takes over. Ollie is no exception, he has been broken in so many ways, it is amazing to see how he bounces back to be strong for Kade. I loved this book as well as this series. Yes, I promise to read the first book Model Citizen as soon as possible.

I'm struggling to understand why, when in theory books one and two didn't have stakes as high as this book, they felt more engaging than this book. It was fine, but the others were better somehow. Even if it was harder to predict the perpetrator in this one.

Also, the more we know about Nathan, the less sure I feel about feeling bad that he died. I get that it's kind of the point, making him shady for the suspense, but aren't we supposed to mildly like him at least, to feel bad about Ollie not having his brother and Kade not having his friend?

I loved this book and am loving this series. I was so happy that I read all three books back to back since book 2 totally ended with a cliffhanger. I am so hoping for more books in this series. I am definitely adding this author to my must have list. Well written with well developed characters.

I love this series sooo much!

This instalment was fraught from the beginning, thank god for good but crazy friends to help.

Ollie and Kade had so much to deal with in this book, especially Kade's insane family (seriously someone needs to sort out his dad!) but is sounds like we might get some answer on Ollie's brother in the next book - please hurry!

This was a great addition to the series. Ollie and Kade both went through so much, physically and emotionally, but their love never wavered and it made them stronger than ever in their relationship. I enjoyed how all of their friends were there to offer support and lend a helping hand, but it was Jacob who quickly became my favorite. Which I never saw coming. I didn't fully trust him, thinking he'd be an ass and make a play for Ollie in Kade's absence, but instead he became Ollie's rock. I actually missed Jacob when he wasn't around .

From the blurb I was afraid Kade wouldn't remember Ollie, but that particular angst never materialized. It was more about the missing memories from his past and what he went through with his family. Who were a complete bunch of a-holes. It may have been his dad who sent him away for conversion therapy all those times, but the rest of the siblings knew about how poorly Kade was treated and how he was blamed for everything. And yet none of them did anything about it. The investigation into Kade's past was interesting, but it was also a bit confusing and left me with so many questions . But hey, the angst and drama still had me quickly turning the pages even if my mind was wondering why and how some of these things could happen.

I'm very much looking forward to the next book (hoping more secrets will be revealed/clarified and that we get a whole lot more of Jacob). :)

Lessons learned: (1) always have bad migraines checked out; (2) don't leave undies where your cat/dog can get them.

There was much to enjoy about this third installment in Lissa Kasey’s Haven Investigations series. As always, the beautiful romance between Ollie and Kade takes center stage, this time diving right into Kade’s recovery after being essentially kidnapped by his father at the end of the second novel. I have only good things to say about the realistic way in which Ms. Kasey has her characters deal with trauma—both physical and mental. No quick fixes should be expected here but rather a journey toward a more stable life and way of handling the horrible aftereffects of the lies and drugs Kade’s father filled him full of during his two-month absence from Ollie. While it felt sometimes that the story was more centered on how Ollie dealt with Kade’s past rather then Kade’s future recovery, it all did balance in the end and I felt we got a much deeper sense of who these two men are and how they feel about each other. Theirs is not a transient or shallow love but one that begged to be allowed to grow. In order for that to happen, Kade would have to share his past with Ollie—unfortunately much of that is lost in the shadowy recesses of Kade’s damaged memories and in conflicting stories that cast Kade as somewhat of a psychopath.

It was this revelation that I felt Ollie dealt with the least successfully. Giving into his own fears about not being independent or strong enough to really help Kade, he instead almost carelessly casts Kade aside to go off and dig into his boyfriend’s past to find the truth. While Ollie tells himself that it is to ultimately clear Kade’s name and finally free him from the threat of another potential kidnapping and torture by his insane father, it sometimes felt very self-serving—almost childish in it’s reactionary feel. I found myself rather shocked at how Ollie could leave Kade so soon and so abruptly after finally getting him back. Shutting Kade out seemed almost like punishing him for not revealing more to Ollie about his past or what he discussed thus far in therapy. Instead, this actually served as a great reminder of how excellent a writer author Lissa Kasey actually is. You see, this twist in the plot—Ollie’s seeming abandonment of Kade and what could have been construed as a major rift in their relationship actually opened the door for deeper understanding and communication between the two men. Instead of Ollie going off in a huff and Kade silently fuming, we got the two men joining forces of a sort and opening up about their fears, the past and how important they were to each other while we also got most important resolutions to the story’s many mysterious threads.

Still there were a few revelations that came up about Kade’s past that I felt he took in stride a bit too easily and Ollie as well. But these two men and their love for each other was more than solidified in this third novel and the door remains open for a fourth with a rather startling revelation coming to light about Ollie’s deceased brother, Nathan. I will be interested in seeing if author Lissa Kasey takes this immensely enjoyable couple out for another spin—I, for one, would love another story about Ollie and Kade and the wealth of side characters that interact with them at Haven Investigations.

Loving This Series!

Model Investigator begins where Model Bodyguard leaves off, so if you haven’t read book two, you need to do so first. This is not a standalone book.

We are back with the extraordinary Oliver and his beloved Kade, this time picking up after the dramatic cliffhanger ending to book two, with Oliver in the hospital and Kade… well, I won’t go there if you haven’t read book two. After all, if you have, then you know precisely where Kade is.

Set in multiple locations, I had difficulty grasping who was where at any given point in time, but that fell far secondary to the way the story played out. Oliver is an absolute love, broken so terribly that he shouldn’t be fixable, yet grasping at your heart as he doggedly puts one foot in front of the other to claw his way to happiness. As per usual, it is told in first person from Ollie’s point of view.

Vast subplots add to an already rich existing storyline and story arc. Character dialogue is intelligent, witty, and sincere, demonstrating the true nature of living with PTSD, where communication is absolutely everything, and the breakdown of it creates seemingly insurmountable turmoil. Yet for all that, the book is not overly full of angst, as the characters grow and develop deeper levels to their relationship.

There are many peripheral characters added through this book, but slowly enough that you can remember them without having to use a chart. One in particular is truly shocking, both to the reader and to the characters, yet it was handled brilliantly (and very realistically at the end of a trauma scene, when said character gets forgotten about, well, sort of).

I also liked that Kade’s initial backstory from book one, Model Citizen, is finally explained, and in more detail than I ever expected. The mystery/suspense aspect kept me guessing until just pages before the perpetrator was actually revealed. Score on that, as well, Ms. Kassey!

Ending in an HFN, it is abundantly clear that there is more to be told, but it doesn’t end in a harrowing cliffhanger such as book two did, and for that, I am grateful! I’m rating this at 4.5 stars. If you’ve not picked up the series, I highly recommend you do. It is a captivating, unique perspective in the m/m romance world!

~ 4.5 Stars ~

Olivier “Ollie” Petroskovic is going crazy. It’s been two months since his boyfriend, Kade Alme, was taken from the hospital without a word. He’s also still recovering from a tragic event surrounding his rock star ex, Jacob Elias, who’s becoming a thorn in Ollie’s side. But, Ollie has good friends and resources on his side. With help from Will, Ty, and even Jacob’s security people, they locate and rescue Kade, who was being drugged and kept as a prisoner by his own father. Now that Ollie has Kade back, and Kade seems to be handling the trauma well, their relationship and life are getting back to normal.

Kade and Ollie go back to work at Haven Investigations, but then Ollie starts to feel like he’s being pushed out and overly protected, and he blames himself. Most of the men in his circle have tried to protect him at one time or another, and Ollie doesn’t want that anymore. He’s worked hard to get his PI license, and he wants to be part of Haven Investigations. When Kade starts leaving Ollie out of his recovery process and excludes him from the cases he’s working, Ollie fears that Kade may be cheating. After uncovering some information about Kade, Ollie leaves to undertake his own investigation.

Ollie heads back to Kade’s hometown of Carlsbad—which, as it turns out, is under the thumb of Kade’s father—to investigate accusations that don’t seem to fit Kade. Ollie neglects to take care of himself, and he has to be careful, not just for himself but for Kade too. When all is said and done, there still seems to be a mystery surrounding Ollie’s brother, Nathan; his death, and the woman in the wedding picture, raise more questions about the connection to Kade’s father.

Model Investigator is a really great installment in the Haven Investigation series. Lissa Kasey puts Ollie and Kade in a tangle of a mystery with suspense, danger, deceit, as well as tackling bipolar disorder and physical impairment. Ms. Kasey certainly knows how to keep the guilty party a secret, and how to dole out the cliffhangers. Ollie’s character starts to grow more independent, and he gets to show his expert skill in investigation and going after the truth.

I’m so looking forward to the next installment in this series. Kade and Ollie have such a special relationship, and they help each other through thick and thin, also taking time to repair their misunderstandings along the way. Ollie is such a unique character, and I recommend reading this series in order, to get to know him.

4 Hearts

Model Investigator starts up where Model Bodyguard left off. Ollie is in turmoil because Kade is gone and all he has is Jacob to rely on.

It needs to be said…it has to be said….I love Jacob. LOVE. Jacob is one of those characters who at first I wasn’t quite sure about, to be honest. I didn’t understand his intentions in book 2 but he grew on me even then. And that spark just morphed into full on…LOVE THIS CHARACTER type of affection. Jacob just doesn’t let Ollie dwell and he calls him on his shit, and I love that. Ollie being Ollie can get maudlin…Jacob does his damndest to make sure that doesn’t happen all the while doing everything in his power to help Ollie get Kade back.

Book 3 is pretty damn good whodunit from beginning to end not that I’m surprised with this author and this incredibly suspenseful series. I think Lissa Kasey is so damn good at these mysteries and the suspense/action elements. Keeps me hooked from beginning to end.

I thought after reading the blurb this was going to be super angsty and I was really worried that Kade wouldn’t be the Kade I’ve grown to love. I’m here to tell you that that is not the case in this book. Kade and Ollie communicate more than ever in this book. Yes, it’s painful. Yes, Kade is not whole or healthy and neither is Ollie but their growth as a couple in this book is remarkable.

This story focuses heavily on Kade’s completely screwed up family and centers on some huge mysteries involving why his relationship with his family is so strained. I have to admit this was a page turner and I was surprised at who was responsible.

Any lovers of the series will sop this one up with a biscuit…it is so good. Keep in mind this is not a standalone…so don’t even try.

Get Book 1 and start from there…you’re welcome.

Recommend.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Audiobook Review:

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

Oh man, I thought the last book had a bad cliffhanger ending, this one was just as bad which frustrates me even more when I really liked the story. Needless to say I will be waiting for the next book to come out on audio.

I loved that this started right after the last book and that helped quickly jog my memory from the last book. For the most part they seemed solid in their connection and even when doubts seemed to surface it wasn’t serious more of the once I figure this out everything will be fine kind of mind set.

This story was told from Ollie’s point of view and man is he a worrier, always having a bad version of thing popping into his head. I loved how their friends and then Kade knew how to help him to get out of that haze. Kade was harder to read but it came down to him not wanting to be too emotional in front of Ollie but I think they are able to figure out where they were both coming from. I was however frustrated that Nathan’s death was once again put on the back burner though it looks like the next book is the last in the series so it should be tied up by the end of that one.

Brian Hutchison did a great job narrating this story. I was easily able to keep track of the characters and actions in the book through his use of different voices and emotions.

Cover art by Garrett Leigh is great and I love the visual of Kade, though I always pictured someone bigger in my head.

4 stars. Audiobook. Series following the same couple, must be read in order. I could only find the first three in audio, which left some of the story untold. There are two main plot/schemes/mysteries and one of them is completed by the end of the third book. The second main mystery is mentioned throughout, but seems like that one is resolved in the fourth book, which I didn’t read. Overall pretty good story and characters, first two books are a bit slow and the third book is non stop revelations and action.

The narration by Mike Pohlable in the first book is pretty bad, borderline cringy. Much better narration in book 2/3 with Brian Hutchison.

HEA, private investigator, model, marine, mild drama, medium angst, contemporary, brothers best friend, vers.

Ollie and Kade are back again... which means more than it sounds like. Kade has been found and rescued, but how much damage was done? His family's cruelty seems like it could rival some of the worst crime families we've heard about. There are a lot of medical issues and a ton of healing that needs to occur for both heroes. There are many secrets revealed, lots of threats, intimidation, and danger, and at least one explosion. The cliffhanger this time (and, yes there is one), isn't nearly as nail biting as last time, but it did leave me salivating for the next Model adventure!

I liked finding out more about Ollie and Kade. The plot has many twists and turns and is fast paced. I didn't like that Ollie seemed to blow hot and cold some. He barely gets Kade back and runs off from him. Kade's family turns out not to be as bad as we thought except for his Dad and one crazy sister. Not sure why the rest of them bought into all that crap. Sure wish the story about Nathan would get settled.

Model Investigator is the third book in Lissa Kasey's series and cannot be read as a standalone! Seriously, I know I almost always say that they need to be read in order but this time you need to listen! Book 2 ended with a cliffhanger and this book picks up that storyline.

Without Kade, Oliver is struggling with old issues. He's not taking care of himself, he's not eating and he's letting the depression win again. But Oliver isn't going to stand by and wait for someone to rescue him and to fix all that's wrong with his world. He decides it's up to him to get Kade, though Jacob isn't going to let him go alone.

Once reunited, Kade and Oliver have a lot of pieces to put back together with themselves. And Oliver's fallen back into his old behaviors of pushing Kade away and sets out to discover the truth of the accusations against Kade by his family. Kade and Oliver come through this story even stronger than before.

There's nothing like family drama, animal cruelty, rape accusations, surprise paternity, amputation, explosions, mental health institutions, and health issues to jack up the angst and drama in a story. The mystery of Kade's family behavior is so twisted, you're going to want to pay attention for this crazy roller coaster ride!

The narrator of this book, Brian Hutchinson, is also the narrator of the second book. I listened to this series one after another. I thought the narrator did a pretty good job. There are quite a few characters and, for the most part, he gave them individual voices. However, there were times that Cade and Ollie’s voices sounded the same so I didn’t always know who was speaking. I really enjoy this series but getting just the point of view from one character really doesn’t translate as well in audio as dual point of view does, in my opinion.

This story has a much better ending than the last book but there is still the mystery of Nathan's death, his relationship with Kade's family and his secret life so you’re going to want to have the next book available immediately!

this was just so good and I loved it as much as the first two books. although I was a bit frustrated with Ollie when he went off all on his own.
what I really like is that Ollie and Kade talk to each other - even if they need a bit of time.
hopefully the next book will come out soon

So... That was a thrill ride that made me a bit dizzy. The cliffhanger end from the previous book is only the beginning of the tension. Ugh. Talk about family drama. And explosions.

Yeah, this was an epic roller coaster story that had a decent resolution, but things aren't over yet. I hope there is another audiobook because I am starting to get attached to this narrator.

Both of the previous books in this series had me thinking about certain social issues. The issue that caught my attention this time was PTS. I did not like how Ollie handled the situation in the courtyard. One of the challenges facing people with PTS is often that they know how much of an illusion safety is. There is no such thing as bulletproof. There is only bullet resistant. Ollie should know this. Once again the author has managed to incite emotion from me. I am even starting to like Jacob. I still hate the majority of Kade's family though.

I might not be able to wait for the next audiobook. I might be compelled to read the ebook... Tomorrow.

This is a series that needs to be read or listened to in order. Model Investigator picks up after Model Bodyguard that left us with a little cliffhanger. Kade is missing and Ollie is bound to find him with the help of his annoying ex-boyfriend Jacob that is injured and unable to perform. While recuperating he is staying with Ollie until he figures out what he is going to do with his life in turmoil.
This book has lot of action, some mystery and we keep getting more questions about Nathan’s past and how he and Kade were connected. This series just gets better and better.
Brian Hutchison did a good job of narrating, but I will admit I was hoping since this was mostly in Ollie’s view, we would get Mike Pohable back since I liked his voice for Ollie. I do like Brian Hutchison and I liked him better for Kade. I do like this series no matter which narrator both were excellent, and I enjoyed listening while doing chores.
