The Boss Who Stole Christmas

Dear Santa,

Please bring me a new boss for Christmas. Mine is the worst. The worst, hidden in a six foot tall package of male perfection. It’d be easier if he looked like an old Scrooge, wouldn’t it?

Um, never mind. Just bring me a new boss. Please.

This is GOLD!! From beginning to end.

THE most endearing heroine you will absolutely fall in love with because her inner monologue will have you giddy and excited with a huge smile on your face at all times! From beginning to end.

THE most charming hero you will root for and get all hot and bothered over. *swoon* From beginning to end!

THE most humorous, lovable and captivating story you will read this holiday season! From beginning to end.

Jana is a master at rom-com. No doubt about it. It is a pleasure to put aside my workday and read one of her stories. This made me happy. Thank you!

It feels like Christmas has come early this year, getting a new Jana Aston read that is holiday themed! I was so excited to read this. It was funny, short, sweet, and steamy and put me in the holiday spirit!

Holly Winters loves Christmas more than just about anything. She lives in a Christmasy town, has a Christmasy name, and even a Christmasy job. Her boss though, he’s a bit of a grinch. Or at least she thinks he is. Nick Saint-Croix and Holly go on a work trip to Germany and things start to change between them…
"You're prickly and a little uptight."
"Am not," I deny…
“I'm into it," he says,
"You're kind of a jerk," I point out.
"Maybe I am." He smiles against my neck. "But you're into it.”

I loved Nick and Holly together! The tension between them was delicious and for such a short story, there was a good bit of build up which I appreciate. I'm hoping we get to see them more in the next few books!

This is the first of three Christmas themed books and each one will follow a different Winters sister from Reindeer Falls and I am so here for it! If you’re looking for a fun holiday novella that will make you laugh, The Boss Who Stole Christmas is the book for you!

4 Son of A Nutcracker Stars ⭐

I am officially moving to Reindeer Falls where everyone is on Christmas crack and fluffy waffles are on the menu. In a land where parents name their children Ginger, Noel and Holly Winter, I was hopeful for some seriously funny banter and sexually charged Christmas innuendoes, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Holly Winter works for the insufferable Nick Saint-Croix. With his grumpy personality, it's ironic that the Hot Grinch runs a toy company. Regardless of how damn fine he is, Holly is certain that she only tolerates him for the perks of the job. Even if she is completely clueless of the underlying attraction.

He's. My. Boss. These are all valid reasons. Valid enough that I shouldn't be thinking about doing things with him that would put me on top of Santa's naughty list.

Yet when Holly is asked to accompany Mr. Saint-Croix on a business trip, it seems she'll be tolerating him in close quarters. Except over the few days spent away and as the animosity wears thin, they discover that they can't keep their hands off each other.

I'm suddenly warm all over and the Vagina Inn is flashing a neon vacancy sign while my overactive brain displays a montage of ways it could be filled.

Suddenly Nick isn’t as annoying as Holly thought. And maybe his frustration constantly aimed at her is actually something sexier.

With her knack for writing hero's guaranteed to get you hot under the collar and amusing dialogue, you simply can't go wrong with any Jana Aston books. The Boss Who Stole Christmas is the perfect festive rom-com and just as good reading it the second time!

Nothing makes me happier than a new romantic comedy from Jana Aston, and I was practically levitating when The Boss Who Stole Christmas landed on my eReader. Not only does it have the laugh-out-loud humor, scorching-hot sexy times, sigh-worthy romance and captivating banter that I expect from Aston, but it’s also overflowing with Christmassy schmaltz. It’s the first of three standalone books in the holiday-inspired Reindeer Falls series and they’re all releasing in November. Does it get any better than this? I think not.

Holly is passionate about all things Christmas and her job at a toy company, so she she’s not happy that her new boss, Nick, acts like both the Grinch and Scrooge. He doesn’t seem to care for her either, so when he forces her to go on a business trip with him, she’s sure that she’ll be miserable. But the romantic small-town setting and rapidly approaching holidays could reveal that sizzling chemistry and romantic feelings are simmering underneath their cantankerous dynamic. I loved every hilarious, entertaining and sigh-worthy holiday moment of The Boss Who Stole Christmas, and I can’t wait for more. The next book, If You Give a Jerk a Gingerbread, releases November 14th.

Full rec on Frolic to follow soon.

2nd read:
This was a fun book in audiobook form. Erin Mallon is one of my favorite narrators and she made Holly’s character even funnier.

1st read:
What a fun little read this was. I'm a huge fan of Christmas and this was the perfect read to get me ready for the Christmas season. Honestly, I wanted to jump right into the book and live in Reindeer Falls. I want to be best friends to Holly and her sisters, and ogle the hot and sexy Nick. I know he belongs to Holly, but a woman can still enjoy the view. Fun, fun read!

Not much to add that I didn’t say the first time around. I think I mostly listened to it because I was being lazy and didn’t want to skip ahead to the 2nd story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I’m four chapters in and Holly is so adamant that Nick is awful (which is hilarious) but I’ve yet to see how he’s that bad.

The only thing I can think about every time they mention Nuremberg is the Holocaust. But then when I looked up pictures of the Christmas market I could see the appeal.

Unlike Holly, I think Nick is pretty perfect but then part of his draw to Holly is her thorny personality so it works out in the end. I mean once he and her sisters manage to pull her head out.

Overall a simply adorable story with just the right amount of angst. Filled with delightful banter, a Christmas obsessed FMC and one sexy ass man. My only complaint is I would’ve liked more time with Nick staying in Holly’s Inn. 😉

Oh, man, this was cute! Snarky and adorable, Holly has a thing for her grumpy boss Nick, who supervises her at a toy store in the Midwest. They get sent to Germany for the holidays and sparks fly. This was so Christmasy and frenemies to lovers cute. German Christmas markets. Christmas cookies. Advent calendars. Toy trains. And steamy scenes! A short quick novella that was absolutely perfect!

LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!!! This is what I want my Christmas novellas to be. Hilarity, heat and ho ho hoing...

Nick and Holly's story is a perfect Christmas tale for me. Slightly quirky/funny girl and her brooding/alpha boss. It's a match made in a German Christmas Market!

Throw in a spot of inappropriate finger action on a church balcony, some taxi cab shenanigans and two sisters who are so funny I am legit dying for their books and Jana made me a very happy little elf! Can't wait for book 2.

I received an arc of this book.

Holidays seem to be a stressful time for many. Some get downright crabby and need something to release that stress. Aston did that with this novella. This was a cute, fun, quick read that will put a smile on your face, and will have you laughing out loud and getting you in the Holiday spirit. The female character names are super cute. I finished in one sitting. Once I started there was no putting it down until I was finished. I can't wait to read the sister's books.

Sweet and funny little Christmas story

This book was as charming and funny as I have com to expect from Jana Aston. I liked her “Wrong” series and this book has the same cheeky and sarcastic humor as those books. The main character was a woman named Holly Mistletoe Winter, and yes Mistletoe is her actual middle name. She lives in the town of Reindeer Falls Michigan and loves her job at the Flying Reindeer Toy company and she is unhappy that her boss is such a bad tempered Scrooge.

Holly really liked her old boss Christopher Saint-Croix and thought he would never retire but he and his wife moved to Florida and his nephew Nick Saint-Croix took the reigns of the company five months ago. I didn’t really like the beginning of the book when all the background information was detailed because Holly’s inner commentary was presented like she was talking to the reader instead of just thinking to herself. For example, Nick came to her desk to ask her if she was going to the meeting and there are four pages of her inner commentary before she answers him. Here is an example:

I don't want to brag but I was Miss Candy Cane Princess seven years ago. I know it might be a little vain, but I still have the tiara. I use it as my tree topper because being Miss Candy Cane Princess was my childhood dream. That and working for the Flying Reindeer Toy Company when I grew up.

But this only bothered me in the first few chapters, after that her inner commentary seems more like her thoughts than something she is telling us directly. Either that or I just didn’t notice it after that. I enjoyed the story and the humor. Nick and Holly end up going on a business trip to Bavaria (Germany) and the descriptions are great.

Holly has two sisters, Ginger and Noel, who look like they will be the featured protagonists in the next few books. Ginger is involved in a reality competition show called the Great Gingerbread Bake Off and wants to use the winnings to open a bakery that she has dreamed of since she was younger. However her competition, a man named Keller James who has a show on the Food Network has Ginger all riled up.

This book was only 100 pages so was a quick read, which is nice between longer books. Personally I don’t like all of these books out lately that are 30 – 70 pages. It would take me nearly as long to write a review than to read the book

This story made me smile...

I'm a bit of a sucker for sweet Christmas stories and this one was definitely a winner for me. It's far from predictable and original in its characters, setting and storyline. Yes, falling for the boss is as old as time, in Romancelandia, but this one just seemed different. Turns out that the Grinch may just be a wee bit frustrated (wink, wink).

Now that I've been introduced to Reindeer Falls and the Winters family, I will be back for more. Who could resist when the first heroine we meet has the delightful name of Holly Mistletoe Winters and her forever kind of hero is Nick Saint-Croix?

I first read this a couple of years ago and really liked it at the time, but never got around to reviewing it. Since it's such a short read, and I wanted to continue the series, I decided to re-read it and finally give it a proper review. Unfortunately, I liked it less the second time around, but I'd say it's a solid 3.5-star read for me, and since I enjoyed it so much the first time, I'll round that up to a 4 for Goodreads' sake.

First of all, if you're looking for cheesy, unapologetically heavy-handed Christmas themes, look no further (and I'm not saying this as an insult, because that's what I like about this story!). The main character's name is Holly Mistletoe Winters, her sisters' names are Ginger and Noel, the entire story revolves around Christmas and related celebrations... you won't find a more Christmas-y story than this one, I think.

While I like the holiday elements and enjoy the writing and humor, Holly's character is a bit difficult to deal with. The novella relies pretty heavily on miscommunication and Holly being absolutely oblivious, and while she does grow as a character in the end, it's still a bit... annoying, to put it frankly.

That said, it's still a cute story, quick and worth the read, and I'll probably continue the series to see what happens with Holly's sisters.

What the fuck was that cringe fest? Honestly, I didn't expect that I would particulary enjoy this book but I thought it's gonna be a cute, silly story to pass the time. Oh, Lord was I wrong!

This was so stupid and cringey that it wasn't even funny anymore. And the whole plot was this boss-employee relationship, of them going on a bussines trip to Germany, where the boss says some stuff in German (bonus points for being correct) and then they fuck in a church. That's it. Honestly, this being practicaly an office romance, they could fuck on his office desk and we could all be spared her thoughts about how Nuremberg is the most German city ever even though that was her first visit to Europe (and the closest she was to anything German was her imaginery home town that was copy pasted from Bavaria). On top of everything, the most ridiculous thing was them fucking in a church. I doubt this author ever was in a church during winter because let me tell you, it's fucking freezeing cold in there. Especially, in those 800 years old gothic churches. AND those historical churchers are always full of turists and that particular one is kind of small, so absolutely no convenient place to have an affair there. If you're gonna fuck in a church at least make it a fetish and not just... honestly, I have fucking no idea why else.

I neee to stop trying to read Christmas themed books 'cause they are not good for my mental health. I heard my brain cells slowly dying, reading this stupid shit.

Love love love! Such a cute small Christmas story.
Holly Winter (could you get a more festive name, brilliant!) works at the toy factory in the small town of Reindeer falls, her boss is super hot but also the grinch in disguise - in Hollys opinion.
A business trip together reveals a whole other side to Holly’s grinch of a boss, it turns out he has a really sweet side and has wanted to kiss Holly since the first day he saw her. It turns into a steamy business trip and it’s just aswell Holly has her dickmas calendar.

Loved the characters, enjoyed the story and got fully into the Christmas spirit whilst reading.
A cute, sexy and festive novella.

It's a short and lovely apparent-enemies-to-lovers-story (because of cooourse they are not really enemies, duuh).

... my name is Holly Winter. And I might as well just tell you now… I have two sisters named Ginger and Noel.
Yes, my family loves Christmas.
My mom denies that she married my dad for his last name, but between you and me, I'm pretty sure she pursued him so she could have a gaggle of Christmas-themed babies.

A German city Nuremberg is featured here. I used to travel there for work a couple of years in a row and find the city pretty dull to be honest. But in this book, it is put in a romantic context and one can see how Christmas Markets and everything around them can be appealing.

Anyway, I'm off to read the stories of two other sisters.
Cheers.

2.5 not so Grinch stars!

I seem to be in the minority with my feelings for this short Christmas novella. I haven't read a Jana Aston book before (though quite a few of them have been sitting on my tbr shelf) and sadly this short story was 'just okay' for me.

I really didn't like Holly Mistletoe Winter, other that her awesome Christmas-inspired name. This whole book was from her POV and she came across as supercilious. It didn't seem to me that there was substantial enough evidence for her disdain towards Nick (other than one incident with some reindeer cupcakes in July). She choose to hate him from the get go and refused to let it go.

I would have loved to read Nick's POV! He seemed like the opposite of what Holly would have us believe. He came across as a fair boss, diligent worker, worldly traveller, smart, caring and for some reason has harbored feelings towards Holly.

"Alles, was ich zu Weihnachten möchte, ist einen Kuss von dir,"

Which translates to "All I want for Christmas is a kiss from you". I loved how the only way that he could tell Holly how he was feeling was in a language that she couldn't understand.

The only person in this book who talked any sense at all was Holly's sister, Ginger. I loved how she called things like she saw them, didn't hold anything back, and told Holly what she needed to hear. I might just read the second book in this series so that I can follow Ginger and her quest for winning the Gingerbread Bake-Off and her rivalry with Keller.

I did enjoy the trip to Germany and seeing all the sights, smells and sounds. I would love to go and see the Christmas Market in person!

The Boss Who Stole Christmas was laugh out loud funny, sigh inducing, and there was so much Christmas cheer I couldn't stop smiling. With characters that came alive and a story line that played out like a movie, this easily became my favorite Jana Aston book! Just so you know, I loved this book so much that I've already read it twice lol! So if you adore romance and Christmas, then you definitely have to pick this one up!
I shouldn't be thinking about doing things with him that would put me on top of Santa's naughty list.
Yet I do. I think those things.
I'm feeling suffocated in this car. Suffocated by all the different versions of Nick dancing in my head.

Holly Winter, whose family obviously loved Christmas ha, worked at the Flying Reindeer Toy Company. She loved her job and was such a hard worker, but there was one small problem. Or maybe I should say one tall, gorgeous problem. Nick Saint-Croix. He took over his Uncle's toy company and had been driving Holly crazy ever since.
The tone of his voice sounds like every filthy thought I've ever had coated in a candy-cane sugar glaze.

You guys, I loved Holly. She made me laugh, was devious, quick witted and had no problem going toe to toe with her Grinchy boss. Even when Holly saw little clues that maybe, just maybe, Nick wasn't the Grinch she thought he was. She tried her best to ignore it. Along with her attraction to him too. But the more time they spent together, the more that became impossible to do.
"If you could have anything you wanted for Christmas, what would you ask for?" I question while we're waiting for the shopkeeper to bag up my collection of gingerbread. He's silent and I'm not sure he heard me so I turn, one eyebrow raised in question.
"Nothing I can have," he answers, and he seems uncomfortable, not looking directly at me.

I was obsessed with Nick. He was charming, smart, sexy and took being in control in the most wonderful of ways. Nick was also full of surprises and the definition of sigh worthy. And any time that Nick and Holly were together, their moments felt erotic and hot. They were like fire and gas, when they were near each other they burned so brightly. I loved them together!

"Holly," Ginger chastises. "Where is your seasonal spirit? Is there no room at the Vagina Inn for Nick?"
"Oh, my God, you did not just say that." I shove chocolates behind the new doors and start to gather my things.

On top of this book being scorching hot, it was beyond hilarious! I loved when Holly was with her sisters. They made me laugh so hard and you could feel all of the love between them. Like the creation of Dickmas. Oh my gosh, I kept finding myself laughing so hard I couldn't even catch my breath! But Holy and Nick together made me laugh so much too. This was the perfect feel good book and I loved every minute of it.
Kissing Nick is like finding out that Santa is coming twice this year. And he's bringing things you didn't even think about putting on your list.

The Boss Who Stole Christmas had everything I could want in a Christmas story. There was so much emotion packed into the pages and the characters leaped from the story, this book sure didn't feel like a novella. Especially since I laughed from beginning to end. And with Christmas sprinkled throughout the pages, this book was a ton of fun to read. The Boss Who Stole Christmas was festive, smile inducing and oh so hot, I can't recommend it enough!

PS Here are some of Holly's Christmas thoughts I loved and I've been stealing her Oh my Santa! saying...
I've got the nervous energy of an elf who overindulged in candy canes.

Oh, my Santa Claus, please stop talking!

I stand a little straighter. Be brave like Rudolph, I remind myself.

With a name like Holly Winter, how could this heroine be anything other than all about Christmas, all year around. She loves working for the Reindeer Toy Company but isn’t fond of her Grinchy boss, at all. Except for the way she often has inappropriate fantasies about him. When she’s forced into a work trip with him, she begins to see him for more than the Scrooge he appears and things definitely heat up.

’He’s grumpy.
He’s demanding.
He’s a perfectionist.
He’s broody and tall and more attractive than any man has a right to be.
He’s. My. Boss.'

I absolutely loved Holly and all her fun, crazy thoughts, mostly Christmas related in some way. She’s totally original in the way she curses, breaks things down in her mind, and looks at life. There wasn’t a thing about her I didn’t like.

We don’t get Nick’s point of view, but the author gives us enough reaction from him that the reader knows pretty much how he’s feeling, even if Holly is left clueless. The fact that he was grumpy drew my attention first but what was inside of him made me fall in love with him. (I wanted to see more get posted on that bulletin board!)

While this is a fast read, because this couple already have a history working together, it felt fuller and complete. 1st of three "Holiday"🎄 romance novellas from Jana Aston.

Unfortunately this first one was somewhat short on actual storyline and character development but big on descriptiveness and setting up the scene, so much so in fact that at almost the halfway point in the story- very little had really happened yet.

Nonetheless this is Jana Aston so it still had that sexy, funny and quirky-cute vibe that she is well known for. Holly "Mistletoe" Winter and Nick Saint-Croix , how about that for MC names.😉

I do plan on reading the other two novellas in this "Reindeer Falls" series so maybe they will compensate some for what appears to be lacking with this 1st "quickie" story.
***It is a good job though that they all seem to be slated as KU releases or I probably would have to pass on the other two.($2.99 for novellas)

Jingle jingle my tits tingle!!! The Boss Who Stole Christmas is everything a Hallmark movie should be!

Full of festive frolics, Jana's newest series of short festive reads have got off to bang a real cracker of a read! I totally adored Nick and Holly, they are uber sexy, funny and romantic, you can't but rejoice in Holly's love of Christmas and all things Reindeer Falls, and Nick's giant Bratwurst hell I'd move there tomorrow.

I swear I'm not Googling the shit out of Nuremberg and booking the family a little Christmas vacay...

I haven’t been in the festive mood for a few reasons but I’ve had this series on my Kindle app for maybe two years so I thought I’d better get it over with (see? Not very jolly).

Anyway, I actually enjoyed myself with this short. It didn't feel overly rushed and was quite descriptive.
I liked how Holly overthought everything (I can definitely relate).

It also made me laugh! Sometimes at the ridiculousness of it but it was a light-hearted tale.

With this and my annual re-watch of The Santa Claus plus some good news, I feel much more in the spirit of the season!

First things first - because it seems like you can't find this information anywhere in the description (at least not on GR) - this is a NOVELLA. If I didn't follow Jana Aston on social media and knew this fact before reading, my rating could have been very different. In case you missed the memo, I HATE novellas due to the fact that they (almost?) always contain insta-love. Normally, I'd avoid them but it seems like in this case, my love for the hate-the-boss-trope was bigger than my dislike for novellas, and guess what? I enjoyed it very much! The christmas spirit, the setting (the story is partly set in Germany lol), the characters, the sexy scenes... even the pacing was quite good (you know, for a novella 😉).
This book has so much potential to be a full-length novel, which is my only "complaint" really. But that's just me being greedy. I wanted mooore!
SO JANA ASTON, IF YOU HAPPEN TO SEE THIS AND ARE IN THE MOOD, YOU SHOULD TOTALLY EXPAND ON THE STORY!

Here are some things I would have loved to read more about (best to be read after finishing the book, spoiler!)

I really was expecting so much from this Christmas novella. I mean, did you read that synopsis? I just knew that I was going to get those enemies to lovers vibes along with all things Christmas. While I got all things Christmas, that was about it.

I didn’t really like Holly very much. She made a lot of assumptions about Nick and they were all about nothing serious at all. If this man did something small such as call his mom to tell her he loved her, I feel like she would make that into something terrible about him.

While it sounded like it would have been enemies to lovers, it really wasn’t. Nick never came off as rude or condescending. Just professional and to the point. The enemies standpoint was really on Holly’s side only. The sex scenes were good but the chemistry really wasn’t I thought it would be.

You are probably wondering what did I like. Well, everything else! I loved the town and the atmosphere of it. I loved that all of her sisters had Christmas themed names and their last name was Winter. Seriously, I could get lost in this fictional town alone.

All in all, I was disappointed by this, but I am willing to read the next book about Ginger. She seemed to have some common sense and I want to know what happens between her and a certain hot British baker.

This was a buddy read with Destiny over at Howling Libraries!

This is a short fab fun read and my first Christmas romance of the year.

It’s what I think of as the perfect 3* read. There’s no depth or real story. But the characters are likeable and it’s a fun, hot Christmas read. It’s not a book I’ll re-read but I will be continuing on with If You Give A jerk a Gingerbread.

“Miss Winter.”
‘My thoughts are interrupted by none other than the Grinch himself. His voice is just as disarming as his looks. Smooth and confident. Seductive, like a plate full of your favourite Christmas cookies.’

The Boss who stole Christmas by Jana Aston is the most perfect sweet, funny and sexy hit of Christmas spice you could want. It should come with a warning of a Hallmark Christmas romance causing sporadic knickers meltdown. To be fair, unless you love Christmas as much as we do this book isn’t for you, but then again our advice would be for you to go get that Christmas hating syndrome checked out because….CHRISTMAS, and a sexy one at that! Gah…we LOVED it! Reindeer Falls is currently in our top search on Google because we need to go live there. This must be done!

‘I want him to kiss me. Badly. Desperately. More than anything in the entire world. I need to know what kissing Nick Saint-Croix would feel like.’

What is it about Jana Aston’s female characters we love so much? Let us tell you, they’re real, they’re deliciously eccentric and awkward and they’re so bloody funny and adorable. We relate to them too much it’s a bit scary. But in a fabulous way!

“Holly,” Ginger chastises. “Where is your seasonal spirit? Is there no room at the Vagina Inn for Nick?”

Holly Mistletoe Winter (great name!) is hilarious and a girl after our own heart. She hates her new boss, Nick Saint-Croix, or does she? He’s annoyingly sexy and grumpy and she would never go there, right? Wrong! Trying to convince yourself of something gets real hard when your heart wants what it wants.

“Ta da!” I announce when Nick simply stares at me.
“Did you just procure a condom from an Advent calendar?” he asks, his voice a little incredulous.’
“Maybe?” I offer in response. “That’s not really important right now, is it?"
He stares at me a moment longer, as if assessing. “I suppose not.”

The names, the setting and the situational comedy was pure cheese on a cracker…but the smooth and thick dreamy kind that feels like a yearly Christmas indulgence. Chemistry perfection! The queen of sexy rom-com has done it again and we’re counting the days till the next two novellas and of course till Christmas! We fell in love with both Nick and Holly from the get go and we’re still swooning over their love story, which is one we will be re-read leading up to our favourite time of year!

‘I’m so done for. I’m in love with my hot boss.’
