Fans of Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias will love this charming, relatable beach read about a single mother finding love and friendship where she least expects it.

Single mom Renee Rhodes seems like a woman who has it all together—perfect house, perfect kid, perfect yard. But now that her daughter is away at college, she doesn't know what to do next. Without weekly PTA meetings and after-school chauffeur duty, Renee isn't sure who she is anymore. What she is sure of is that she probably shouldn't be crushing on her new boss, who couldn't possibly be interested in a middle-aged mom . . .

Sadie Landry is drowning in the stay-at-home mom life. With a toddler running wild, a husband who is growing more distant by the day, and a mother-in-law who has a comment on every-little-thing, Sadie is one mommy-and-me class away from losing it. When she learns that she is pregnant again, Sadie knows that something has to change for the sake of her family—and her sanity.

After a birthday party bake-a-thon nearly turns into a three-alarm fire, Renee comes to her neighbor Sadie's rescue with comfort, competence, and a killer pie recipe. With their unlikely friendship and a newly hatched plan to open a bakery, can Sadie and Renee finally have the lives they've always dreamed of?

This was a delightful read that was cute and cozy but more than just the average cozy, small town romance.

It featured two female characters where their individual stories were being told in parallel. The story then became an example of shared experiences which then developed into a story of friendship (hence the title). I really liked how this story included both of these characters, where both of them were in very different places in their lives yet they shared many similarities. It showed that no matter the age difference there is similarities that can be shared with life experiences.

Even though this story didn't focus on a mother daughter duo, between the relationship and the small town feel I kind of felt like I was in a world similar to Stars Hollow of Gilmore Girls. Yes, this story is vastly different but it did share some of the same qualities of a show that I love.

I liked the ending but I felt that it needed a bit more closure and finality. Upon completion, I have now discovered that this is novel is becoming a book series instead of a standalone so I'm much happier with this conclusion. I definitely will read the following books and can't wait to return to the world of Cranberry Cove!

Over the recent holiday weekend, I was craving a fairly light and easy read. Forever Friends totally hit the spot! There's some romance in the story but it's really the friendship as well as the message of taking chances and doing what makes you happy that made this an enjoyable read.

Sadie left her job as an interior designer to raise her now 2 year old son. Like most parents, she feels overwhelmed the majority of the time. Unfortunately, her husband is away on business quite often which leaves the bulk of the parenting responsibility on her shoulders. Sadie's neighbor, Renee, is a divorced mother of a college student. Years ago, Sadie was the babysitter for Renee's daughter. Sadie is having a particularly challenging day and Renee comes to the rescue. And thus begins the story of a beautiful friendship.

I love that there is an age gap between the two women and they aren't in the same peer group. It is so unusual to see that in fiction but yet it's not that uncommon to have an older or younger friend in real life. And I like how the women were equals rather than Renee taking on a strong mother type role with Sadie. They weren't necessarily BFFs or attached at the hip but they could count on each other when necessary. A good support system for one another.

It's a sweet story with genuinely nice characters. A good book to pick up when you need a reminder that world is full of kind hearted people. This book is the first one in the Cranberry Cove series and I'm looking forward to reading the second novel.

Thank you to Forever for providing me with a copy! All thoughts expressed are my honest opinion.

I read book 2 in the Cranberry Cove series first and I could not put it down. Then I found it it was book 2 I then had to have a copy of Book 1 Forever Friends. I liked book 1 but not as much as Friends Like Us. It had the same characters and the same small town in both books. But So much was going on in book 2.
This is a new author that I will be looking for more of her books as she releases them. Her books could be made into movies!

Heartwarming, charming, and uplifting!

Forever Friends is a lighthearted, engaging tale that takes you on a journey to the idyllic Cranberry Cove and into the lives of the middle-aged, single Renee and the frazzled, young mother Sadie as they discover together the importance of taking chances, finding contentment, discovering one’s true self, and embracing the future.

The prose is fluid and smooth. The characters are kind, supportive, authentic, and endearing. And the plot is a sweet, compelling tale about life, love, family, friendship, communication, self-discovery, happiness, and romance.

Overall, I would have to say that Forever Friends is an emotive, thoughtful, cosy read by Mackenzie that does a beautiful job of reminding us just how important, powerful, and meaningful female friendships can truly be.

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Forever Friends by Sarah Mackenzie is the first book of the Cranberry Cove series.

The story is about two women and how their friendship, as different as the two women are, helped them through their unique struggles at differing points in their life.

Renee Rhodes looks like she can win ‘mom of the year’ for having such a perfect looking life while raising her daughter as a single mother - a feat in itself. She is so well put together, and manages her life in utmost perfection, that is one to be admired. However, when her daughter leaves home for college in the West Coast, and with no one to dote on, her life is suddenly turned upside down.

Sadie Landry is a stay-at-home mom, with a toddler, and another on the way. Her life, unlike Renee’s, is a topsy-turvy whirlwind, and a husband that seems to become more distant.

A near catastrophic baking event leads to an unlikely friendship between these two women. I loved how the writing was told in two alternating view points and with the amazing dialogue, this became a winner read for me.

This was a beautiful story with characters that I enjoyed being part of their lives. Mackenzie has a great talent of drawing the reader in and completely immersing the reader into their world, their drama, their life!

I was immersed into the story, and loved every bit of this read. It was heartwarming, enjoyable and highly entertaining. I loved the setting in Cranberry Cove, Maine and the small town feel with an amazing cast of characters you will fall in love with.

I highly recommend this book, and I cannot wait for the next installation of this amazing start of the series.

This was such an enjoyable book! I want to move to Cranberry Cove, live on the beach, and become friends with Renee and Sadie too... Hang out with the other locals who were unique, bright, interesting and fun.

Sarah Mackenzie did a brilliant job writing this story. You'll find real life situations, struggles, and storms, but also romance, love, friendships and fun. I appreciated the fact that Ms. Mackenzie shows, with friendship, there are no age restrictions, that even an empty nester and new mother can become the best of friends.

I can't wait to see what the author has planned for this series, and highly recommend it!

This delightful book by Sarah Mackenzie is about friendship, as the title clearly shows. In this case we have a young mother and another mother whose daughter is heading to college.

Renee Rhodes has done well as a single mom, and is proud that her daughter is away at college. However, empty nest syndrome has hit, and it has hit hard. Working at Dr. Hanlon's office has more than one perk for her. For starters, she has a crush on him, although she is certain he has never once noticed her. Another perk is that she is fond of Sadie Landry and her toddler, Lincoln, who is seeing the doctor for his well visits.

Sadie is more than overwhelmed. Not only is she the mother of an active toddler, with her husband constantly working away from home, she discovers that she is pregnant again. An aggravating factor in her already busy life is her annoying mother-in-law. Thankfully, Sadie and Renee become fast friends.

With Sadie nearly going crazy trying to prepare for a birthday party, Renee proves to be just what she needs to keep it all together. As it turns out, Renee is an excellent baker and their newfound friendship just might become a business opportunity for the both of them.

What a wonderful story of friendship and love. There is a sweet romance in the story for Renee as well, all while Sadie's marriage is rather unsteady. I love how the women were there for each other in the story, especially with their age difference. Sarah Mackenzie's writing style was fluid and delivered an emotional tug. I love that Forever Friends is the first book in a new series. I cannot wait to see whose story will be next.

Many thanks to Forever for the print ARC of this book. This is my honest opinion.

Sadie is a young mother of a toddler who feels as though she is drowning. After experiencing post-partum depression and receiving very little support from her workaholic husband, she feels she can never live up to the standards of her mother in law. On top of this, she has just learned she is pregnant. Her dream had been to continue her design career that she loved before she became a mother. Now it looked like this was not going to be possible for many more years.

Renee is a 40 something empty nester who lives next door to Sadie and remembers and understands what it is like to be a young mother. Renee offers a supportive ear and helps Sadie out in time to save her 2 year old’s birthday party. She is a fantastic baker which reminds Sadie so much of her Grandmother’s baking.

When Renee is approached about a business venture, Sadie and Renee look at a partnership. Throw in a bit of romance for Renee, and a hurricane to their small cove and you’ve got a book that will keep you engaged.

I appreciated the friendship between these two women immensely, as well as other women’s issues not mentioned in this review. This book is inspirational and I enjoyed it immensely.

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC of this book in exchange for the honest review provided here.

>>>>>My Synopsis (Review follows):<<<<<
Sadie Landry is a stay-at-home mom who feels she's losing her identity. The cool, confident young professional she'd once been has been replaced with a women who feels a bit like a fish out of water flopping around and trying to catch her breath. Add in the fact her husband is acting suspicious, her mother-in-law is constantly nitpicking her every move, and she suspects she might be pregnant and you've got the makings of a woman on the verge of coming undone.

Renee Rhodes is a single mom and a newly minted empty nester. Her daughter is attending her first year at college and Renee doesn't know what to do with herself. Her life centered around her daughter and now she feels a little lost and without purpose.

Two individuals with seemingly nothing in common at different ends of the mommy spectrum will be united over the burning of a batch of cupcakes. They will come to each other's aid in ways neither could ever have imagined--helping each other out with life, love, and the pursuit of happiness all while forming a friendship that will last forever.

>>>>>My Review:<<<<<
This was a very heartwarming story with some twists and turns along the way. The mystery of what Sadie's husband is up to kept me guessing. The friendship forged between Renee and Sadie was enviable and there was no doubt that these two would be life long friends. I liked how Ms. Mackenzie picked two people at very different points in their life to form a friendship. I enjoyed how each was able to impart a piece of wisdom to the other to help them get through the difficult and confusing situations they were facing.

I loved how the author captured some of the stress and self doubt that sometimes accompanies being a stay-at-home mom of young children. I still remember my first real shower after having my daughter. I was relieved to finally have some alone time, something I hadn't realized I needed until I stepped into the bathroom. Less than a minute into it my husband rolls our daughter into the bathroom in her bassinet and left her saying he couldn't get her to stop crying. Needless to say I started crying and got very upset with him when I got out. Crying babies and showers don't mix especially when you're nursing. Your whole life is upended in ways you never would have imagined when you have a child. Having a little person attached to you at the hip is both wonderful and a bit overwhelming. At times it feels like you're constantly taking one step forward and two steps back and losing yourself in the process.

On the other side of the parenting perspective, I loved how the author captured some of the emotions a parent experiences when their child goes off to college. I've yet to become an empty nester, but I do know what it's like when your child goes off to college and suddenly their coming home during breaks isn't a given any more. While they're out testing their wings getting ready to fly away, you're still trying to deal with the fact you need to let them go so they can become the independent person they're meant to be. This is not always the easiest thing to do when your main goal for years has been to keep them safe, healthy, happy, well rounded, clothed, and fed. While the story delves a little into some deep topics, this storyline made me think of the Jergens lotion commercial where Leslie Mann makes her 20-year-old daughter use the skin lotion on her elbows and ends with letting her know she's free for dinner. I'm so that type of mom--while the kids may be ready to break away, I'm just not.

While friendship plays a key role in this story, romance is just as prevalent. The repairing of the relationship between Sadie and her husband, and the transformation of the relationship between Renee and Dan into something more were fun to watch. Each couple had some hurdles to overcome, but as expected in any good romance, love prevails.

I ended up giving this one 4 1/2 out of 5 roses. I enjoyed this story immensely. The two main characters, Sadie and Renee, were easy to relate to and sympathize with. I liked the contrast between the characters and between their relationships. The book contained a lovely combination of humor, friendship, drama, and romance. This was a great first novel from Ms. Mackenzie. Her writing style reminded me a little of Debbie Macomber's and Susan Mallery's, and I look forward to reading many more of her novels. On the Lisarenee Romance Rating Scale, this one scored a FAN rating--the temperature in the room seems to have suddenly gone up a couple of degrees and a fan would be nice. The only thing missing in this one was recipe for one of Grandma Hester's pies at the end. That would have been the proverbial icing on the cake, or, er, the à la mode on the pie, I suppose, for this one.

*REVIEW* 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Forever Friends is a charming story about two women on opposite ends of the spectrum who form a friendship. One is an empty nester, and the other is the just beginning school mom. It's a beginning and an ending, but these women find common ground somewhere in the middle. I enjoyed this story about female relationships and bonds. The story is entertaining and sweet with relatable characters. I recommend for fans of women's fiction. You will not be disappointed!

Forever Friends is such a heartwarming and enchanting tale about the special bond of a friendship.

Mackenzie does a beautiful job reminding us about the importance of female friendships. The characters are genuine, sweet, compassionate, and authentic!

The words flow beautifully across the pages and was definitely hooked from page one. I definitely recommend if you're looking from a sweet woman's fiction with a mix of romance, family, friendship, self-discovery, and happiness.

A good read which brings neighbours of different ages and stages of life into a friendship. Both Sadie, the mother of a toddler, and Renee, the mother of a daughter just off to college seem to be lacking self confidence in how they are raising their children and feel unfulfilled. Lots of humour and a beautiful setting add interest.

As a cute story of friendship, I enjoyed 2/3 of this book. It was pretty predictable, so when I got to the end, I thought it was way too drawn out. There was probably a good 30-50 pages that could have gotten cut out. I kept thinking that I was reading the last chapter, but no there was more to wrap-up (that I thought had already been clearly wrapped up).

I guess if you like cheesy friendships and cute romances, you should give this a chance.

Forever Friends is the first book in the new Cranberry Cove series from Sarah Mackenzie. Centered on the friendship between two women, Renee Rhodes and Sadie Landry, it follows their journey as new friends and as they navigate new seasons in their lives. I loved how different both these women were, their gap in ages, and their developing friendship. The romance between Renee and the local doctor is one of my favorite mature romances. This book had a little bit of everything: strong women, female friendship, motherhood, new romance, navigating marriage, and achieving dreams. It took me a little bit to get into this one but once I warmed up to these characters I couldn’t put the book down. Can’t wait to see where the series goes next!!!

Thanks to Read Forever publishing for my book to read and review. The first thing that drew me in was this cover especially for December it reminds me of warm fuzzy feelings. I loved the dual points of view. As a 40 something I can relate to both points of view...the overstressed young mom and the old mom feeling left out and wanting to stay connected to her young adult daughter. When these two get together the "feels" are even more! This was an easy smooth flowing read and I look forward to reading more by this author.

Forever Friends, by Sarah Mackenzie, is a story of friendship and what it means to be a true friend. Although young mother Sadie Landry and empty nester Renee Rhodes are coastal neighbors in small Cranberry Cove, Maine, they have only been casual friends. They have known each other since Sadie babysat for Renee’s daughter, Tansy. Then, when Sadie’s husband, Ethan, purchase her grandmother’s house as a wedding gift for her, it made her Renee’s next door neighbor.

Unfortunately, Ethan’s job, which was originally to be mostly distance software development, now requires him to be in Boston more often than not. Sadie is struggling with her ‘single’ mom status with an energetic two year old, and Renee comes to her rescue when Sadie accidentally burns the cupcakes for little Lincoln’s birthday party. From that point on, they seem to be there to save each other, regardless of whether the storm is of nature or life making.

Renee, who had been a single mom herself, is now struggling with her empty nest situation with her daughter studying on the west coast and pulling away from the closeness they had shared. Her receptionist job for local doctor and object of her eye, Dan Hanlon, is not enough anymore. Opportunity has presented itself to her to begin her own business but she isn’t sure she has the gumption to do it on her own. Could a merger of sorts between Renee and designer Sadie be a real possibility?

I really enjoyed this story of an unlikely friendship that come full circle and seems so real. This is women’s fiction at its best. I do recommend this book!

Forever Friends by Sarah Mackenzie is a charming novel about friendship, love and new beginnings.

Sadie Landry is a stay at home mom to two year old Lincoln. Her husband, Ethan, commutes from Maine to Boston where he works long hours. Sadie is struggling to keep up with Lincoln and running their household when she learns she is pregnant again. As she comes to terms with this unexpected development, Sadie and her neighbor, Renee Rhodes, unexpectedly form a close friendship.  How will Ethan react when Sadie mentions going back to work when an unanticipated job opportunity comes her way?

Renee is feeling a bit unsettled now her daughter Tansy is at college in California. She is beginning to feel somewhat dissatisfied with her life, but she is also unsure if she is ready for more changes. Renee works in the town's pediatric practice  and she is surprised by her unexpected attraction to Dr. Dan Hanlon.  When she is offered the chance to turn her love of baking into a new career, Renee is uncertain if she is ready to take a leap into the unknown. With her friendship with Sadie deepening, the two consider going into business together.  With some many changes happening at once, will she decide to take the plunge and open a baked goods shop? Will Renee's fears of getting hurt again prevent her from taking a chance on a romance with Dan?

Sadie and Renee are absolutely delightful women. Although they are at drastically different places in their lives, they quickly form a tight bond when their casual acquaintance deepens into friendship. Sadie is very worried about her marriage when she admits to Ethan she would like to resume a career. Renee is unsure about giving up job security in exchange for pursuing a career as a baker.  She is quite concerned about Tansy as their once close relationship becomes distant. Renee is also uncertain about whether she is ready to risk her heart again.

Forever Friends is a truly captivating novel with a cast of extraordinary characters and a heartwarming storyline. Renee's and Sadie's issues are quite relatable and resolved in a realistic manner. The romance between Renee and Dan is incredibly sweet and just a touch steamy.  Sadie's plight is certain to resonate with anyone who has struggled with their decision to return to work after having children.  Although Sadie and Renee's storylines are completely wrapped up by the novel's touching conclusion, readers will have to wait for the next installment in Sarah Mackenzie's delightful Cranberry Cove series to learn the outcome of the dangling story arc. I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend this marvelous novel to fans of the genre.

I enjoyed this novel's quaint, small-town setting. The characters are likewise warm and likable. There's nothing unique about the plot, although there was enough going on to keep me reading. Still, there was never a point where I felt like I couldn't put the novel down. Overall, I liked FOREVER FRIENDS but didn't love it. I may continue with the series, I may not.

I really enjoyed this book- it is a perfect weekend read. Renee is a single mother and just sent her daughter, Tansy, across the country to her freshman year of college. She is needing to rediscover herself as she adjusts to her empty nest. Sadie is Renee's next door neighbor and she is at a much earlier stage of parenting. She has a two year old, Lincoln, and is struggling in her role as a new mom. Her husband, Ethan, is commuting to Boston for work and is gone a lot. Marriage and parenting aren't exactly as she pictured they would be.

After a baking mishap, Renee rescues Sadie and they start relying on each other. I loved the friendship and support between Renee and Sadie. This story was a glimpse into their lives as they both struggled with their identities and self-worth as both women and mothers. The supporting characters were equally endearing. There is a lot of dialogue and humor in this book (I think my description makes it sound heavier than it really is). This definitely is a comfortable, feel good read and Cranberry Cove is a place I would like to visit.

This is a new series, Cranberry Cove and its characters promise for some great stories. Two very different women work on developing an unlikely friendship in this story. Renee is an older empty- nester mom who misses her daughter away at college. Renee's life revolved around all her daughter's activities and now she is bored and restless. About the book: Release Date December 10 2019

Single mom Renee Rhodes seems like a woman who has it all together -- perfect house, perfect kid, perfect yard. But now that her daughter is away at college, she doesn't know what to do next. Without weekly PTA meetings and after-school chauffeur duty, Renee isn't sure who she is anymore. What she is sure of is that she probably shouldn't be crushing on her new boss, who couldn't possibly be interested in a middle-aged mom....

Sadie Landry is drowning in the stay-at-home mom life. With a toddler running wild, a husband who is growing more distant by the day, and a mother-in-law who has a comment on every-little-thing, Sadie is one mommy-and-me class away from losing it. When she learns that she is pregnant again, Sadie knows that something has to change for the sake of her family -- and her sanity.

REVIEW: FOREVER FRIENDS by Sarah Mackenzie is a contemporary, adult work of women’s fiction focusing on neighbors and friends-divorcee, single mother and physician’s assistant Renee Rhodes, and married mother of a two year old toddler Sadie Landry.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Renee and Sadie) FOREVER FRIENDS follows Renee and Sadie as they navigate the minefield of everyday life. Sadie Landry is a graphic designer by trade but opted to stay home and raise her child but Sadie is struggling with her direction in life which includes a husband who is hiding a secret, and a surprise pregnancy for which she is ill-prepared. As she slowly spirals out of control preparing for her child’s second birthday party, her neighbour and friend Renee Rhodes, takes the lead, and offers support where Sadie needs it the most. When Renee’s baking skills become the hit of the party, a local real-estate agent suggests Renee open up her own pie shop, a shop where Sadie’s grandmother’s recipes will be the menu of choice.

Sadie Landry battles between head and heart when Renee offers a partnership using Sadie’s grandmother’s recipes. As ‘Hester’s Bakery’ begins to take shape, Sadie quickly learns that all is not well in her married life. Secrets and lies, and issues of trust threaten Sadie’s tenuous hold on her emotional well-being. Meanwhile Renee Rhodes has fallen for her boss, widower and physician Dr. Dan Hanlon, a mutual attraction that quickly turns into something more but Renee also has issues of trust having witnessed the infidelity of her first husband, and as such, Renee begins to second guess the man with whom she is falling in love. With her daughter Tansy away at university, and her sister Bree keeping secrets, Renee finds herself caught between two worlds, and feels like she is losing control

FOREVER FRIENDS is a story of family and friendships; failures and success; secrets and lies. We are introduced to Sadie’s husband Ethan, their two year old son Lincoln, and Ethan’s meddling mother Annette ; Renee’s daughter Tansy; her sister Bree, and Renee’s boss and lover Dr. Dan Hanlon. The character driven premise is entertaining and captivating; the characters are colorful, energetic and real- our heroines are courageous and supportive as they take the tentative steps towards controlling their futures.

Forever Friends by Sarah Mackenzie is a full length, stand alone contemporary romance novel.
Meet Sadie Landry and Renee Rhodes. They're different from each other, but once they meet they develop a friendship. One of them is the mother of a toddler, often alone while her husband is away on his job- the other one a single mom who's life is suddenly empty because her daughter is away at college.
They balance each other.
Forever Friends is a gripping story , a slow burn, fitting for the unique storyline. I loved the characters and connected easily with them. I loved the excellent writing and the beautifully thought out and beautifully written words. 4,5 Stars.
