Pykh #2

Human Omega: Trapped in the Alien Jungle

Rate this book
Carter isn't sure what to call his two alien protectors. Friends? Boyfriends? Mates? Or merely indiscriminate lovers with sexy purrs and tangling tails? He would be lost without them, he knows that. When their home is invaded by a dangerous new kind of alien slaver, they strike out into the jungle. He depends on them for food, protection, a direction to walk in. He's helpless even for shelter and warmth. Thankfully, his alien lovers seem devoted, but why? Carter wishes he knew their names or anything else. Like whether the attachment he's feeling is returned. With aliens, you can't make assumptions. Wouldn't it be nice if he could just ask?

Sooo good

Originally read August 2019

Pykh, Carter and Siel are living out in the jungle still running from the "masters". Carter isn't feeling well and Pykh and Siel are trying to protect him.

This one left me on edge the entire time. I wasn't sure what was going to happen and whether they would make it or not. And now, Auk is in the picture and I don't like him! I know he thinks what he is doing is for the best but he needs to leave my boys alone. I was glad the three could finally communicate and learn more about each other.

I will say, and I know others have complained about it, this is in serious need of editing. I can't believe some of the mistakes throughout. BUT, I honestly don't care. Yes, I gave it 5 stars even with bad editing. The story has kept me enthralled and I am definitely moving on to book 3 ASAP. I love this world the author has created and I am in love with them and want their HEA. Though, I know I will have to wait for book 4 for that 🤬

This continued adventure had me hooked solid, just as the first book. I loved the action and suspense parts of the escape plot, as well as the slow development of the romantic bond. The three main characters have distinct voices and personalities, and the story is both creative, immersive and wonderfully unpredictable.

Mpreg in this book?

Like other reviewers have mentioned, this book is in need of an editor overhaul to reduce typos, missing words, and at a few places tighten up the plot progression and dialogue. I think the story is so good it deserves a proper edit. At the high price of the book I as a reader expect a higher professional level content.

I will most likely pick up the next book in the series when it's released, because I want to know where the story goes from here. The trio of guys are of my favourite gruff but adorable types and I can't wait to reunite with them and see them get their HEA.

I'm not going to lie, I'm salty about where we are left in the end - it's sort of a cliffhanger. We end with Carter, Siel, and Pykh safe and well cared for and together, for now, but with Carter only just about to react to what an omega is and .

If you're looking for a M/M/M Menage SciFi/Fantasy story with multiple POV, some action, heat, and humor, with plenty of nail biting moments and a HFN ending with excellent narration, you should definitely consider picking this up.

Joel Leslie is amazing and makes this a real treat to listen to.

This book drove me kind of insane. There was a lot of swearing and caps lock going on in my book notes.

I skipped 25% of the book in the middle and I had no issues understanding what was going on afterwards. This book is so bloated; 426 pages but it would have been far more enjoyable at...maybe 250 pages.

Everyone makes decisions on Carter’s behalf under the false pretense that they can't understand his commands. As if trying to defend his mates with a lightsaber wasn't clear enough. Srsly wtf. I have mentioned this before but this is the top trope that makes me rage.

When they can finally actually speak to each other, Siel still disregards Carter's wishes because he clearly doesn't know what it means to be an omega and doesn't understand the dynamics. Siel is worried people will take advantage of him and overrule his desires. Instead of talking to him about this...he enlists someone else to join Carter's court without consulting him to help him learn. What a hypocrite.

A 4th POV is thrown in somewhere in the middle and I simply could not care less about this character. I spent his chapters raging as his self righteousness instead of really paying attention.

I don't think I can read the rest of this series. Oh lord the next book is 480 pages. Yeah, nah, I can't do it. This is me tapping out now to save my sanity; shoulda quit while I was ahead.

__________
When I started reading this series, I thought it would be filled with shallow characters, and lots of erotic sexual encounters. But that's not true at all. My bad!

The characters are well fleshed out, and have unique voices. And there's actual depth to the story. It's also not oversexed. Far from it. It's more of a fluffy read, but not shallow.

Other than the 3 main characters, there's a new-comer, Auk, who I don't like. I just didn't warm up to him yet. The 3 of them were doing so good without anyone else and I don't want Auk interfering, and becoming a part of Carter's "court", whatever that means. I'll throw a hissy fit if he becomes their lover too. Interestingly I wouldn't mind if some of the other aliens would. Like the one who seemed to be really interested in Pykh.

This installment ended on a cliff-hanger. I was waiting for this moment, when Carter finally realizes what was really going on. I can't wait to see his reaction. *.*

3.5 stars. It's better than the first book, but still needs some editing.

Need more now......please and thank you 😘

Does this book need some editing as well? Yes :-) And just like before, the story itself has sucked me in to where I will let it slide. I cannot wait (even though I will have to) to find out what happens next. Not sure if anyone else feels this way, but the book has a bit of a Starship Troopers vibe to it 🧐.

Worth the wait

I feel this author is way under appreciated. The writing is always super imaginative and well written. But I guess if it’s not contemporary cowboys on a ranch or some other sappy story, people don’t give it a chance.
Do the characters have tails and live in some other world? Yes. But are they sweet and loving and protective all the same? Yes.
Anyway, I waited for this book forever. And I feel the story doesn’t end here and I hope there will be another. It was longer than the first book, but I appreciated that because there was a lot of story to be told and new characters added. I can’t say enough how much I loved it. Will read again.
I am a kindle unlimited reader and sometimes my reviews don’t show up. Hope this one makes it to you

Audio Review 26May2020: 4.5 Stars

So, no, I do not think that I have been rating this series too high. I loved it even more the second time around. Joel Leslie is the PERFECT narrator for this (often he's hit/miss for me) because he gets Carter's humor & snark just right, plus Pykh's naivete, innocence and devotion to his mates comes through with the edge of confusion and is heart-breakingly good. For that reason, I upped the rating.

Original Review 29Jan2019: 4 Stars

Again, I'm probably rating this entirely too high...but I love the story. I love the setting. I love the world-building. I love the characters. I especially love how all 3 have to fight for each other in some way. How supportive they all are. I even love the side characters.

Even having the communication problem finally fixed (in the last 1/3 of the book) didn't disappoint me because it was such a typically scifi based solution. But it wasn't Deux Ex Machina because we've seen the mishmash of tech all over the slave camps & it would make sense this alien race would be collecting it...even if they didn't know what it was for or how to use it.

Gah, I really REALLY hope the author plans to write more for these guys...and I'd like to see them triumph over the bugs in order to re-establish their society.

Also, that sex scene was hot...and also LOL at it finally dawning on Carter what it means to be an Omega to these guys. Since, you know, they ARE all male. And yet the species propagates somehow, right? (That really should have been addressed in the First Contact module for Space Marines.)

Action adventure with the alien cat guys

This was even more of a surprise than book one. More excellent world building, a new bunch of characters and Carter having to get creative with left over technology.

I'm enjoying this alien adventure as it sticks more firmly to the Sci-fi elements and less to the sexy erotica that often comes with lost humans on strange planets.

I can’t even!

Short review:
I loved this second (and hopefully not last) story in this series. Note: I loved the story.

The book had serious issues; first and foremost among these was HORRENDOUS editing. Dropped words. Wrong words. Misspelled words. Incomplete sentences (not a purpose). Arrrghhhh! It killed me. Seriously.

Also an issue for me was Carter’s frequent address to the reader. No other MCs did this and so it felt out of place.

Lastly, we had an influx of POVs towards the end of the book. I like consistency and these added voices along with the previous “issues” went against any flow I needed to fully enjoy the story.

That being said...I love the concept and characters Glass created here. I like the alien ménage. I just wish it had been looked over by an editor.

This one ends in a bit of a cliffhanger with the future uncertain for Pykh, Siel, and Carter. I’d like to see another book in the series for sure. I’d also volunteer to Beta read the thing so simple errors are not overlooked by the writer.

All of these tags probably do not do justice to this series and may scare away more timid readers. A pity, really, because this series is not based on any traditional genre "rules" but rather on strong main characters and tight, suspenseful plot. I'm not usually a big fan of alpha/omega dynamic and/or mpreg - this sub-genre usually has an annoying tendency to masculine/feminine/dom/sub stereotypes - but this is not the case here. We have three distinct, complex main characters which are not defined by their status; each one of them is endearing in his own fashion. Carter especially rocks in this installment (and responsible for most of the good jokes, as usual).

Wheeee! I’m so happy this one was as captivating and entertaining as book 1.

I have just one small complaint that feels a bit petty to mention but 🥴 it kept coming up. Carter comes across as being pretty hung up on gender roles, talking about squealing like a girl and feeling emasculated by being carried, wearing what he thinks of as a dress, having flowers tucked into his hair, etc. Every time he had a thought like that, I cringed and wished Glass would have avoided using those low key sexist ideas. Blah! Aside from that, I love book 2! Now on to book 3 😁

4 solid stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Chef kisses!!!!

There was so much complex great character development that I can not even detail in this review. I felt so many emotions with these 3 characters that I love them. They're my family, and I don't want anything to bad happen to them.

I still feel like pykh suffered the most, but he doesn't understand that, which makes it even sadder.

If you love alien romance, everyone should read this.

Kosmiczne omegaverse. :)

Great continuation of book 1.

I really have become attached to the characters in this series, especially pykh, what a genuine character!

So I took a star off because of a few things,

1. There were quite a few typos/errors (which weren’t too big of an issue for me)

2. I felt like there were several parts where some of the characters just start thinking away in their heads and it’s a bunch of stuff you don’t necessarily need to know, like i just wanted to get back to the main story.

3. Where is my mpreg!? I was soooo hoping to get mpreg in this book, especially because it’s so long. I also expected this to be the last book, but there absolutely needs to be another in my opinion. Yes we get a happy ending spot here, but things aren’t resolved, there are so many things that need to happen still and there really really needs to be another book, even if it’s a short wrap up book. Gimme my mpreg and little alien pups😍😍😍

Those three things added up into removing one star, but that still leaves 4 stars, because honestly, this was a great read with characters that really made me care about them and become attached, again, pykh in particular is such a great character and I absolutely love reading about him and his interactions.

My favorite series from this author!!

Loved this. I am a science fiction fan, and this bit the mark. I love the twist on the A/O trope. This omega is a tough space marine from earth. His two cats mates, when all three are enslaved by the "bugs" scent him as being omega...and claim him as thiers. He is thinking three way, they are thinking something a bit different. I cannot wait for the third book!! It ends on a mild cliff hanger.

Updated Again 2023: It was time for a Reread of one of the most memorable series I’ve ever read. I Love this Series So Much! I’m So Happy to see that the Author is Actively Writing Book 4 on her Patreon, I’m so excited for it! ❤️

*******
Starting off the New Year reading a very memorable series, jumping right into Book 2, I love this world so much, great visuals and everything just clicks and flows with me. A wonderful palate cleanser, and because I enjoy this series so much and is a continuous go to, I’m raising my Rating from 4 to 5 Stars 🥰

I Give this Book a 5/5 Star Rating.

Formats Read: Audiobook, Quick Audiobook Review at Bottom.

Cliffhanger(?): Yes
Relationship Type: MMM
Pacing: Mid.
Heat: 3-3.5/5
Drama: 3.5-4/5
Suspense: 3.5/5

*Due to the Many Various type of Language Barriers I will put them in One of Three Categories.
Language Barrier(?): Yes.

Language Barrier - Temporary, Semi or Permanent(?): Semi

*Permanent is where >both main characters/significant others< speak their own languages but cannot understand each other so they have to rely on using either various basic words, sounds or gestures to get a point across, and there is no mechanical solution or it’s unable to be used.
*Semi Permanent is where one or both teach each other their language and can at some point speak near fluent and may or may not have a mechanical solution at some point, but in the end can go without mechanical help but the option is there.
*Temporary is where there IS a mechanical solution to fix the language barriers between significant others permanently. No future issues.

Audiobook Review:
Overall: 4/5
Story: 4/5
Performance: 4.5-5/5
Narrator: Joel Leslie

Going to jump right into the 3rd book, the narration & storyline is really addictive 😃
Joel’s voice for each character is very distinctive and you can tell who’s who so very easily, he’s an absolute joy to listen to.

This book was a decent follow on to the first. I will say that it really felt like not a lot happened and there was a lot of setting up for the third book. I’m not really a huge fan of multiple books with the same couple but I will be reading the final book just to see how everything comes together. Also there was one one section where Carter talks about how he needs to “be a man” and emotions and letting things get to him is “girly”….. sentences like this and books really ruin it for me. I don’t want to read about how normal human emotions are inherently female and therefore “weaker”. When we all know that that is not true. Just a pet peeve of mine. Overall a decent read

I give it 4 stars ⭐️

This series is so addicting! The second book was even better than the first. This is where all the action happens. Relationships between the characters develop, communication problems are finally solved, lots of sweet, heartbreaking, steamy, and hilarious moments, Carter and his "weapon" that he used to scare everyone 🤣
Carter is the best. He is such a strong character, and I love how he solves problems, doesn't give up, and works with what he has to keep himself and his mates safe.
The story ends on a cliffhanger. I'm so ready for the next book in the series, I have to know what happens next.

Hahahaha!! Omg the language barrier they had in the first 60-75% of the book was hilarious! Especially when Siel and Pyhk found clothing and Carter thought it was stripper clothing haha loved it!
I
Also don’t know how to feel about Auk… kinda hesitant about liking him… he’s getting in the way of the three boys who don’t need him!

Can’t wait to read book 3 now, and I see it’s 600 pages! It’s been a while since I have read that long of a book!

I love how this story has developed! The alien culture has been thought out and is interesting. Carter, Pykh, and Seil are well crafted characters with very different, yet complimentary, personalities. I am looking forward to the next book.

ETA: on second reading, the editing errors are more noticeable but I still loved the story

Man, this book was all about the tears for Pykh, he broke my heart! I felt so sad for him, he was doing what he could to care for his mates, but no one appreciated it. He was so out of his element, I just wanted to protect him.
I'm ready for book 3, to see where these guys go from here!

God, I really can't remember last time I had the mental energy to just read all day. I feel like my mind just can't be held still. It's kind of a restless energy that has slowed down all my reading. But for some reason these book just seem to by-pass all that?? I won't question, I just follow.

⚔️ I still really enjoy Carter being super resourceful

⚔️ The dynamic between the 3 of them is still great, and I like that it is tested by their new environment

Book two takes place where book one ended. The trio have escaped and they are on the run and have to make it through the jungle on their way safely to a military outpost. Once again kudos to Eileen Glass for creating a magnificent storyline and the world building. I always enjoy it a alien story with the language barrier.
