Jacqueline already had her happy-ever-after... Or so she thought—until her husband left her for a woman who could give him a child… and already had. Now she’s divorced before thirty, working herself to the bone to pay off the mortgage on a house that will never be full of the children she dreamed of. Wolf shifter Arlo lost his pack years ago. He found a new home in Hideaway Cove, where shifters can reveal their true natures safe from human eyes. He has friends, a new family, a job. Everything he needs to build a life. But without a pack, there’s still a hole in his heart—even if he can’t see it. Three shifter kids desperately need a family… Jacqueline doesn't know what to expect when she responds to an emergency call-out in a remote marine reserve, but it's nothing like three lost children who can turn into seals, and a ruggedly handsome man who makes her blood run hotter than it ever has before. Jacqueline gave up on happy endings long ago. Arlo thought he’d already found his—at least, as happy as he was ever going to get. But with three unruly seal shifter kids in the mix, they’re about to find out just how wrong they were. THE SEA WOLF’S MATE is a hot and heart-warming shifter romance about finding love and family where you least expect it. All Hideaway Cove books can be read as standalones, with happy ever afters guaranteed!
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I buy most of Zoe Chant’s books because I love her HEAs and her style of writing! I do own this one too!
The cover is very nice indeed!
This is the 2nd book in this series. This is for adults only due to the steamy content. While not necessary, I find more enjoyment reading the books in order because when you meet Lainie and Harrison you will know who they are and have some background on this town.
I really like Jacqueline, Arlo, and the kids. Things start out dicey where Jacqueline had to go check on some kids. The kids let the cat out of the bag. Arlo and Jacqueline are trying to figure things out. It was a touching story that I loved because I always love seeing when kids get what they need. More emotional baggage and drama than action, but it worked. I really like this little town and can’t wait to see who gets their mate next!
I highly recommend to shifter fans especially if you love Zoe Chant’s style. I have loved all of her books, and I will definitely keep reading them!
Zoe did an amazing job of showing the pain, betrayal, fear, joy and love that Arlo and Jacqueline felt. I loved the way she portrayed the connections of packs, from the extremes of joy and love to pain and sadness. I don’t want to give too much away, but I’m sure you will love one of the characters, Tally, as much as me. And as someone who’s been a foster parent Zoe portrayed the story beautifully. I have been reading Zoe’s stories for years now, and it never ceases to amaze me the connections she builds between the characters and the reader. I always feel a little sad when I get to the end of a story, I feel like I’m missing my new friends, and now I’m just waiting for the next story in this series.
I originally received an ARC of ‘The Sea Wolf’s Mate’ and had freely chosen to read and review it. My review is honest and fair and is in no way incentivised.
I have also purchased the book now that it’s been released. An artist that writes so well deserves to be rewarded for the gift she shares with her readers.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! It was a great book ! Jacqueline was betrayed by her husband, when she could not give him a child. Arlo found a second chance, when he moved to Hideaway Cove. Now, three orphaned shifters children need Jacqueline + Arlo. Will they answer the call ? Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Whoever says you can't go on adventures when you have kids obviously doesn't know kids. Arlo is so sweet and I'm glad he found the perfect mate for him.
Wonderful second book in the Hideaway Cove series. The story of Argo and Jacqueline is so sweet it hurts. Finding true Love after heartbreak is wonderful and our author spun a beautiful tale.
This is a good shifter romance, with a likable couple. I liked them together, and I liked what they ended up doing in the end (but no spoilers here).
I did wish that they (but especially Arlo) had been tougher on his foster parents, since they so obviously hated humans and considered them to be inferior. It bothered me that they got away with a "slap on the wrist", when someone should have told them to change their attitude or leave the town.
One problem I have with all of this author's series is that there is so long between books. Lots of times I have to go back and reread some of the earlier books in a series, simply because it has been so long that I don't remember all the characters. That is frustrating. I know that this author writes lots of books -- but I wish she would concentrate on one series at a time, so that the books could be published closer together.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Jacqueline March is stuck working the night of the spring fling. The first since her divorce and living on a tight budget paying off her house, she is now ready to have some fun. The recent storm has caused nothing but problems. The phone lines are still not working right. A broken distress call sends Jacqueline out in search of some children in danger, when she can't reached the sheriff. What she finds defines logic. A seal pup, and a little girl, who turned into a seal pup and a little boy were a seal pup use to be. The little girl is in danger and all Jacqueline know is she is in need of rescue. Arlo Hammand is a wolf shifter with out a pack. Abandoned by the pack he grew up in after the death of his mother, he spent some time living on his own as a teen, he found his way to Hideaway Cove, a coastal town that is a sanctuary for all shifter. His foster parents gave him a home and a pack of sorts, but his wolf craves more. A psychic distress call sends him toward shore in time to see a human female trying to save a shifter pup. The minuet he rescues the both, he has a connection to the women. Jacqueline is not sure what is going on, but she know what she saw. Worry for the children has her insisting on going with Arlo to see them settled. She feels something unexpected for Arlo and is not ready to let him walk away. Jacqueline is intrigued by what she sees in Hideaway cove. Meeting Arlo's friends and spending time with Arlo, has her rethinking her past and what she had planed for her future. Arlo is sure Jacqueline is his mate. He struggles on how to explain things. Just when he thinks they have an understanding, a meeting with his foster parents, sends her running. When he realizes the why and what the kids they rescued want in a pack, he sets off to bring her home. A fast paced, and a little steamy, romance. A new pack is born, with a wolf, his human mate, 3 seals and a goose. Great Epilogue to wrap up their story. While this is the second book in the series, it reads well as a stand alone. Really liked Arlo and Jacqueline's story.
Jacqueline is divorced and working at the county sheriff's office to pay off the mortgage on an empty house. Her ex-husband is married again with a child who obviously came about before the divorce. On the night of the local Spring Fling, Jacqueline finds herself answering the phones' in the sheriff's while the phone lines are crossed and she's getting multiple wrong numbers. But one call comes in that mentions nearby Hideaway Cove and children left at a local beach. Unable to reach the sheriff, Jacqueline goes to get the children herself. She gets her car stuck but finds the children only to discover that they can shift into seals. She sees one child out on the rocks and risks her life to save the little girl. Arlo is out on his boat when he hears the children and heads their way. He's surprised to see Jacqueline but jumps in to rescue her when he sees her get caught in a wave. Once he gets her and the three children on his boat he realizes Jacqueline is his mate but is afraid he'll mess things up so decides to take things slowly.
Both Arlo and Jacqueline have some personal issues to work through before they wind up together realizing that being with each other is all they need. Well-written with well-rounded characters, this book is a fabulous read and a great addition to the series. I'm looking forward to more books about Hideaway Cove. I highly recommend this book and the series.
I loved this fated mates, shifter human, found family romance. It had the perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, painful pasts, and spice. It gave me all the swoony swoons while also pulling at my heartstrings with all the emotions. It’s definitely a warm hug of a book. Jacqueline is a divorced and childless human who works at the sheriff’s department in Dunston. When she gets a garbled distress call about children potentially being alone and needing help in the nearby marine reserve, she immediately goes to investigate. Arlo is a sea wolf shifter who lives in the neighboring shifter friendly town of Hideaway. He needed solitude and is sailing alone when he hears a telepathic cry for help from young shifters. Jacqueline and Arlo meet when he rescues her while she is rescuing Tally, a very young seal shifter. When Arlo first sees Jacqueline he realizes she’s his mate but there are some hurdles to get to their HEA including baggage unpacking, truth telling, and life course correcting. I have a soft spot for the people who are a bit uncomfortable in their skin because they don’t feel like they fit in or are worthy, like Jacqueline and Arlo. So I love when they finally see their truth and they get swoon worthy HEAs. I cannot wait to read more stories set in this town. 4.5 stars.
I like reading your books...But I really love will the books has two shifters. Like man shifter and woman shifter. Human and shifter I just don't like that well..
He took one of his hands away with hers and fumbled with the small box. “You’re the heart of this pack, Jacqueline.” He kneeled down on one knee and Jacqueline gasped. “You’ve thrown yourself into this world with so much courage and so much love it takes my breath away.” “You’re the strong one,” Jacqueline protested. “You saved my life. You stood up to your parents…” “I couldn’t have done it without you at my side. And in my heart.” He took a deep breath. “I know you’ve done this before and it hasn’t worked out. But I need you to know that I’m yours. I want to be bound to you in every way. The mate bond, our pack… and in marriage.” He opened the box. “Jacqueline March, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?” Jacqueline was completely still. Arlo’s heart was in his throat. Then she made a noise that was half-laughter, half-sob, and slid from her chair. “Yes! Of course!” She threw her arms around his neck and kissed him so hard he almost dropped the ring box. He exclaimed and fumbled for it and she grabbed for it, too, laughing against his lips. At last they both had their hands around it.
This was top notch! Everything is spot on. Only happy tears, humor, and the quirky family love that is normal. Ok. Except the Sweets. Po has wonderful humor. The friend ya wanna smack, but love. I thought he was a fairy of some sort…got that wrong. Cant wait to read his story now!
Spoilers!!
Ok. Seriously, I like that even though its a shifter romance…the female lead cant have kids. As one of many who find out young that they cant have children, sometimes the fact almost every shifter piece has the fact they need kids…get annoying. Derek embodies what was said once If the guy doesn’t want you…we don’t want the guy!” Thank you for this unusual plot spin. Aaand the fact Arlo and Jacquelin kinda got to know each ither before sex was nice. That was my hiccup with book 1. I know many disagree. But this review is simply my feelings. :-)

Jacqueline is working the night shift at the sheriff office when she gets a strange call from some guy thinking he is talking to someone in Hideaway Cove not Dunstan but the phones have been messing up since the storm. Now she has when to find what she thinks are kids in the reserve but the roads are muddy and soon her car is stuck. But she needs to find the kids or what’s out there. And what she finds she not sure if she is seeing things but soon find out about shifters. Arlo is suffering because he’s pick up very strong telepathic thoughts from a child shifter. When he goes to investigate what he finds is not just shifter children but his mate trying to save the youngest. But they all come out of it fine but so much more is to happen. So enjoy another good read and see if the strange pack of shifters and one human can have a HEA!!
An intense search for a child, after a barely understood phone call, discovering a shape shifting baby seal and the older boy Jacqueline thought the night couldn't get any stranger. Arlo didn't know what had him so restless, doubts insecurities where swept away as the painfully loud cries cut threw his mind, rushing to help he see a woman holding a tiny seal perched on a rock with angry water around them slip off the rock in to the cold ocean. Once in his rowboat Jacqueline, told him they had to get to the boy, on shore. As they get to him another girl steps out of the dark, two sisters and a brother, the missing Eric who had been trying to get them to Hideaway Cove. Read to find what will happen next. Great easy fast pace romance.
Jacqueline is struggling with being stagnant after her divorce. Arlo doesn't think he has anything to offer a mate. Orphaned children bring them together. Will Jacqueline realize she is enough? Will Arlo be able to keep his own pack?
I loved how both of these characters were protective over the kids, regardless of the circumstances. I loved the fact that while raised to believe one thing, Arlo was slowly realizing that human mates weren't against anything. I didn't blame Jacqueline for being scared after what her ex did to her, but loved how in the end she decided to fight for her happiness. Great read!

The seal shifters made the story cute and fun. The little one screaming in your head would definitely cause headaches. But how cute is a seal pup. Just the cutest. I like the diversity of the shifters in this story. Why not have all kinds instead of the usual. Pol makes having electricity a whole new ball game. I want to punch the ex because not only does he deserve slapped, he deserves put in his place and so does Reg. Unreal how a man can cheat and come out smelling like a rose while the wife gets scrapped on. The story was a bit predictable from my standpoint other than the issues with the telepathy. Another good book by Zoe.
Hideaway Cove is a shifter's sanctuary, a home where a shifter could be and do what came natural without worrying about humans learning that shifters really exist. Arlo has lived in Hideaway Cove since he was a teenager orphan. Ma and Pa Sweets had taken him in and he was grateful for their kindness. When Arlo's mate Jacqueline, turns out to be a human, Arlo must decide where his loyalties lie...with his mate or the people who took care of him when he needed help. Add four orphan children, stir, and there's plenty of excitement, drama and a heartwarming HEA. This is a thoroughly satisfying story.
LOVED IT. Much better than book one for me. This story was sweet with a little bit of tart. Loved Jacqueline and how she just jumped right in to save the children. Poor Arlo, what a confused and unsure wolfy he was, until he found himself with Jacqueline as his mate. Then we get four children thrown in to make one big happy pack. I loved how this unfolded, how it played out and the great ending everyone had. It was even nice having Harrison and Lainie involved. Even better that nasty Mrs Sweets gets put in her place by Jacqueline. She is my hero. I had put off reading this as book one didn’t impress me but this story was great. Read through Kindle Unlimited.
Now after reading Jacqueline and Arlo story and all is well with Hideaway Cove. Now can u believe the nerve of Jacqueline ex, showing up unannounced with an attitude no doubt to ask to buy the house I guess far less for what he paid for it. He really is a jerk in my book, he could have adopted if he was really in love with her. Anyways will there be another story and if so when, because it took a while for the second book to Hideaway Cove to come out. Big fan as always Winzie19💞☺.
You meet the main character, Arlo in the first book and learn a little about him there, and the main characters o the first book do play a medium sized role in this book, so it is definitely best to read them in order.
Hideaway Cove is a town for shifters only, well it has always been only for shifters until recently when a fated mate turned out to be human, things are slowly changing in Hideaway Cove and Arlo is feeling unsettled.
Author Zoe Chant creates a world full of love and shifters
The Sea Wolf's Mate (Hideaway Cove Book 2) By Zoe Chant Kindle unlimited purchase Jacqueline is one tuff woman. She takes life as it comes. When she learns there are shifters she doesn't bat an eye. Arlo and his wolf are living in limbo out on his boat. When Jacqueline and Arlo save 3 children trying to get to the shifter town called Hideaway Cove, neither realized their lives would change for the better. I enjoyed this book it's really obvious where the book is going, but I enjoy the ride anyways. As always Zoe did disappoint me.
I really liked this. It had a certain sweetness of spirit that called to me. I missed the first book of the series, which was a little annoying but not really necessary to enjoy this book. It had enough of a real emotional trajectory in such a short time span that it felt realistic. A hard thing to do successfully with fated mates!
The found family aspect with the shifter kids was also nice. It would be interesting to see what happens after the epilogue for them.
The hero and heroine are so wonderful, but the kids just make this story shine! The fast pace, hopeful tone, character centered story added with steamy scenes and vibrant, adorable characters (even the adults!) make this a joy to read. You will get more out of the story if you read book 1 first. Now we have to wait for Pol's story. Btw, I loved the electric car image!
I very highly recommend this amazingly magical book and the fascinating series associated with it, to readers who love reading paranormal Fantasy. This books theme of creating a Family from diverse peoples is near and dear to my heart, as I believe most people are Earth's Family. If we only take the time to communicate with each other with open hearts and minds, we'd understand that most of us are looking for connections truly matter.
Arlo is a worried wolf cause of his past. he goes out on the ocean 2 help relax and but he keeps on getting bad headaches but he found a possible reason why he had 1 at that x cause of the unexpected surprises!! his foster mom is being a damn bitch again and she needs a beat down asap!! After everything she went through in her past especially cause of her piece of shit ex husband but things can change in a blink of a eye 4 the better.
Another winner from Zoe Chant. As with some of her previous works I've read and reviewed, The Sea Wolf's Mate is a well written tale with several non traditional elements to the usual romance - paranormal or otherwise. Great characters and a plot that reads smoothly work to make this a wonderful read. Enjoy!
A well written, solid love story, this story is easy to read, the characters are well developed, the plot runs smooth and there is action spread throughout the book. Jacqueline and Adam make a good team, and the kids know it before they do. I thought the story was nicely developed and it was a good read, there were some points that dragged a little, but overall, the read was enjoyable and sweet.
Delightful, quick read of finding true love and creating your own family. Arlo, the sea wolf shifter, and Jacqueline, the human woman looking for a new start, are great together and the children shifters who bring them together are truly perfect matchmakers. Fun read.
I love Zoe! I thought there were some really cool themes in book 2 of Hideaway Cove - especially the message that as we grow up we realise that our parents aren’t these perfect beings, and that sometimes their core values can be different to our own, and that’s really hard. Also the family they end up with is just so cute and left me with many warm fuzzies ❤️

“I’m scared,” she said. “Because I don’t want to lose you. But that isn’t a good enough reason to run away. Just like it wasn’t a good enough reason to lock myself up here in Dunston, barely living my life and not even admitting to myself what I wanted.”
Openheartedness is more powerful than defensiveness.
The Sea Wolf's mate is another great read by Zoe Chant!!! Arlo is adrift in his life until he comes across 3 children and a human. Come to find out his mate is a human. But when it comes to love it comes in many forms for Arlo. I absolutely love this series!
