In this volume, the acknowledged pioneer in attention deficit disorder research combines the best of his previous books with important new information. In the new chapters (about 25 percent of the book), Hartmann looks at how and why America's school system fails to assist children diagnosed with ADHD and urges parents to find alternative means of educating their children when this happens.
Thomas Carl Hartmann is an American radio personality, author, businessman, and progressive political commentator. Hartmann has been hosting a nationally syndicated radio show, The Thom Hartmann Program, since 2003 and hosted a nightly television show, The Big Picture, between 2010 and 2017.
While the last ADD book I read (FAST MINDS) focused on problem issues and how to fix them, this one has a more uplifting message. For the first time, thanks to this book, I actually believe there may be some positive sides to ADD. When you feel that, it's so much easier to work on fixing the negatives.
That being said, the material covers the mind in general and situations built into society that make life hard for ADD people. It only touches a little on a few ways to address your ADD issues.
Overall, a good book, especially since it inspires me to be more me when I can, and not always just struggling to be "normal."
I always find information in most of these books that are helpful. Many times it's not a new technique, but one that has been forgotten or a challenge I haven't faced before.
