G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
Tales & Darkness is the third and final book in the Lost Time Academy series, again the story will pick up straight after the second book, which is great.
Madi’s heart continues to expand with another love joining her harem, which all falls into place with the storyline. However, the deeper connection with the guys in her harem are skipped over a little.
I enjoyed the first book in this series and elements of the other two books as well, but the stories seemed to get shorter and shorter as the series continued, which then felt like the ending was rushed and a little disappointing for me. At least we got a HEA.
I guess it was wrapped up in a way to continue the new series - The Demon Academy.
Fast paced story comes to an end, well wrapped with a bow. This book picks up right where book 2 leaves off. Thwarting Froston's plans hasn't put us out of danger however, the tale continues.. (snicker) and the real bad gal comes out to play. We finally get the whole prophecy and figure out what needs to happen in order to save the world as well as set the tale kingdom to rights. I noticed there was so eluding to a possible spin off talking about the angel/demon kingdoms.. I notice G. Bailey's next series is soon to be released and I'm wondering if some of our favorite characters here are going to make an appearance over there. Ya'll know she likes to bring in characters from all her worlds in for cameos so her readers can get their fan girl on.. I feel like that is where we are headed.
Madi and the guys.. including yummy Warren who fast found a way to my heart with his quiet stoicism, must take on a goddess in order to stop her from taking down the world leaders one at a time, then they must unite the tale kingdom in order to face humans because their secrets have been blown all to heck! Teamwork makes the dream work.. js.
The series itself has been pretty entertaining.. I think everything wrapped up pretty nicely!
I loved this series...until this book. It’s poorly written. Feels like a child wrote it. The characters seemed to just change. I was almost finished when I finally couldn’t take it anymore. The ending was rushed. Made no sense. And honestly? I’m glad to see it gone.
So my review is on the whole series as a whole and not on each separate book.
I usually love G. Bailey’s series. They are always fast paced and quick to read but usually very well written. When people ask for RH recommendations, she is usually one of the first names I give.
So I’m sad to say I did not love this series. 😞
It did not flow well, felt very rushed and was very disjointed.
I did not fall in love with any of the characters, they had absolutely no depth to them. They were all ehhh and blah. The dialogue was just weird. And it all felt very rushed.
I did not like how the Quin thing worked out. She was heart broken to leave him and kept talking about how much she loved him. Then all of a sudden, he was just a friend she thought she had loved but didn’t have those feelings for? Huh? She broke rules to talk to him and tried so hard to get to him and boom just decided ehhh I don’t love him, I was wrong. What?!? And then a random guy appears and insta love.
There were also a lot of random time jumps. Like in one of the books, she has sex with one of the guys and then it’s over and something else is going on and it’s 4 weeks later all within a page or two and you were kinda given whiplash like what just happened.
There were also some weird sayings in this series like “I never have done, and I never will do”. That is said multiple times in the series. Not sure if it’s cause I’m American but that is not something I have ever read or said. We’re more apt to say “I have never done that and I never will” or something similar.
I also didn’t care for the big battle. That was a let down.
The ending and epilogue were also disappointing.
If you are new to G. Bailey definitely go read a different series of hers and just skip this one.

Tales and Darkness is the wonderful final book in Madi's story.
With Ruben and the dark goddess on the loose and tales good and dark stuck in sleep at the academy, it is up to Madi and the guys to save the day. Back in the past Madi gets her second chance to protect those she loves and save the world.
This book is filled with action that kept me glued to the story. Not only is this book about saving the world from evil, but it also strongly focuses on love, friendships, and family. This author has an incredible talent for creating amazing new worlds with rich storylines that I cannot get enough of!
I really liked watching Madi get closer to not only the Tales brothers, but Warren as well. This book provides some insight into the past and prophecies that shows just how important Warren and his family are to Madi's.
I really enjoyed this conclusion to Lost Time Academy and can't wait for the G Bailey's next book (about Lexi who we just got to meet at the end of this book), Sinful as Hell!
This final book was rather busy and a lot ended up happening in what I considered to be a rather short book. I wouldn’t say I considered it rushed, but Madi definitely didn’t have hardly any down time. They were constantly on the move trying to stop the dark goddess.
I wished I could have read more about Madi and her relationships with her men, especially Warren, but given the threat to her and the world, I understand why that pretty much taken a back seat.
I enjoyed reading the little tid bits of information that will ultimately tie into the other series within this same realm with the Demon Academy and the Angel Academy. I kind of read these different series out of order because I started with Lexi’s story with the demon academy and then started the angel series and went back to this one while waiting for the next angel book. It doesn’t hurt to read them out of order but if I would do it again, I think I would read this one first followed by Lexi’s story.
If only the author actually spend some time writing these books they wouldn't be so bad. However, all these read like outlines of a story, not the actual novel. They are super short and you just get some facts thrown at you rather than a fully developed plot. Characters are so flat that all you get is a mention of their names and one time where they describe their appearance (if you are lucky).
And then what the hell was that about when the plot suddenly jumps forward, skipping the most interesting bits? If you don't know how your characters got from point A to C why bother with any of it, huh? Don't just skip part B, skip the whole story... The only thing that was good about this series is the covert art. Not gonna lie, the covers drew me in to this misery. But, hey at least I know to avoid this author in the future. Now I need to go and sell my copies to some poor unsuspecting soul on ebay.
Author G. Bailey brings us the final in the Lost Time Academy trilogy. Madi and her boyfriends the tales brothers and Warren have traveled back through time to change the future. The bad thing is the dark goddess also traveled back through time too. Yes Madi was able to save Sin form being killed and she put the entire Tales island to sleep but that's only the start of this final chapter. Madi and the Tales brother's go to her home in the human world and take her father, mother, and grandmother with them into the pocket dimension. Once there they talke about what should be done next and they start to put their plan into motion. During the final battle with the dark goddess Madi is saved by an angel and they are given notice that a bigger war is brewing. This is a great novella and I highly recommend it for all Fantasy fans.
With everyone asleep on LTA, will Madi, the Tale brothers, Warren, & Quin figure out how to save the world before the evil queen destroy the whole world? T&D picks up right where book 2 left off with the cliffy. T&D is the much anticipated conclusion to Madi's & co's adventurous journey into finding out the hidden secrets that the counsel have withheld from the community. I've fully enjoyed this series & am sad we will read no more of Madi & Co, but everything has to come to an end. However, no need to fear there's going to be an interconnection from 1 of the characters mentioned in this series to the next as per Mrs. Bailey's style, so looking forward to that.
OMG, absolutely the best ending for this series! Gem has done an incredible job with continuing the storyline. I will admit it started out on the slow side, but it pick up after a few chapters. Just hang in there while reading, it's worth it. Madi and her men have an incredible fight on their hands. You are gonna love what happens to Rueben. I know I did. 😁 There is a few glimpses into the future. We also get a small look at The Demon Academy. Happy Reading! •••••• I highly recommend this book/series! •••••• ~~ I have Kindle Unlimited, and I used that service to read this book. ~~
I was super excited about this series since it started because of the uniqueness of it. A bit of Once Upon a Time meets Grimm, and although we say goodbye to this series you just know there will be a spin off in the same universe. Maybe we might even get to see these characters again who knows.
I will say this is the first series of Gem’s that I still have questions. Don’t get me wrong there is a HEA ending, but there are tidbits dropped in the book that are left open ended and now I can’t stop thinking about what could be.
This was an excellent ending to the Lost Time Academy series.
I loved the action and adventure in this book. It was super engaging and kept me interested the whole way through the book.
The characters are written so very well and the relationship between the MC's is sweet, heartfelt and very hot. I will say that I wish the steamy scenes were expanded on as it was two sentences and then that was done. It was just skimmed over and we are told about those scenes and not really shown.
Everything else about this book from the goddesses, different dimensions, the academy and the characters/mates was fantastic.
This book pretty much leaves off where the last one ended. Madi and the guys go back in time and save Sin. So they all get a second chance to be together and save the world. Madi learns a lot about who she is and what her powers are in this book. The dark goddess is here and she is crazy.
I loved the relationships Madi had with her guys. I also loved Warren. I love that a "dark" tale was added to her men. Because he is kind of a sweetie.
The only thing that was a little bit disappointing was the ending. It felt very rushed but still enjoyable!
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*** Tales & Dreams is the second book in the Lost Time Academy series and starts off right where G. Bailey left us in Tales & Time. This story sees Madi, the Tale brothers and Quin in an action packed story, with dark tales being a larger focus this time round. I am not a fairytale person, but G Bailey does a good job with keeping this limited on the fairytale. I feel like the book is going downhill slightly as I seem to be loosing interest in this series.
I don't understand why these books were published as 3 separate books. Each one was super short and only the third one had a true major conflict. The ending was lackluster and I definitely don't feel satisfied but I also don't feel enticed to read the following series. Very confused as to why there was a content warning as there were no sex scenes until the final book and they were so short they didn't have time to be considered graphic. It was a fun, quick read, but these books could have had a lot more meat to them.
Bailey never ceases to amaze me with these storylines that brings so much emotion throughout the book. I loved sin is back, how everything revolved around family and love. The characters building between her family, the guys and herself makes you want to have their relationship. Once again bailey ties up a story in a nice packages with a bomb inside. It literally leaves you excited for more of her work.
What an epic finish to this amazing trilogy! The amazing world building (quite literally!) Was spectacular in all 3 books but especially in this one. The pacing was great, exciting, adventurous, sexy and a brilliant story arc. I thought that the plot was wonderful, the aftermath of time travel, dicephering prophecies and discovering ancient history as well as some excellent character development. Definitely one of my fave RH series.
Both of these two books were totally different and not what you should be expecting from a fairytale, dark and adult , no kid fairytale here but what a wild ride both of these books turned out to be , hot guys, kick butt heroin and a talking book with attitude, love reading both , cannot wait to see what happens next. This book was reviewed by a Book Loving Vixen.
Gem always delivers on a great meaningful read. She always has much more to say than just telling a story. I really enjoyed this series by the fairytale angle. The characters are well written, storyline engaging, plot well thought out. I enjoy a good story that involves family, love, and a good old fashioned finding yourself plot. So if you are a fan of Gem's than you know that this is a good bet, if you are new to Gem. Give this series a try, you wont be disappointed.
FML this was amazing just absolutely amazing and epic and I loved it so freaking much. Very well written the concept the story bloody amazing and gripping and the ending well it was epic, I loved the last words of the goddess about the angels and how lexi was in the story in the end and now I think madi will make an appearance in The demon Academy Series, well this was definitely one amazing Tale tide for sure and I loved it. A must read definitely recommend it.
Ok so bear with me bc even though I loved this series, I feel like the ending of this book was rushed. It was like all of a sudden BAM conclusion reached. For this reason I’m gonna say 3.5 stars.
For the relationship storyline, I would def give a 4.5. It hit all the boxes - heartache, redemption, loyalty, trust, love. I wish it was longer or there was a 4th book based solely on the the final relationship and how they make everything work.
Omg 😮 this series ended exactly how I hoped it would .....happy 😊 with a little twist to come ....😉 seriously those Tale brothers and dark tale Prince 🤴 yummy 😋....I was hooked from first couple pages ...👍🏻 the book did not disappoint It had everything you need in a good book 📖 giving you all the feels ...it was awesome 👏🏻 love love love 💕 it
loved it! The Tale brothers, Warren, Quinn, Maddi and the whole gang is back! United they are and must defeat the crazy goddess set on destroying them and everything! Maddy must travel back in time and move forward Epic finale !! and a great glimpse of another crazy paranormal world spinoff series! Angels and Demons 🤩
The Tale Brothers and Madi , along with a new addition, have quite an adventurous time. They turn to her parents and grandmother to help them understand the Prophecy. With the side of a magic book and a cat they find the secret to saving the Light and Dark Tales. I love stories of magic and reverse harems. This story has it all!
I liked this twist on the various fairy tales, and am sad to see this series come to a conclusion. I loved the characters and how they have come together as a group to accomplish their goals and change the future of their society. It will be interesting to see how the spin-off series that is introduced at the end of the book will take this same universe and expand it.
Brilliant book to conclude the series. Overall the whole series was a really lovely read with and interesting and new take on fairy tales. My only real issue is I didn't like the final chapter because the book doesn't specifically end and it's clear that this world will be continuing on in a new series that I look forward to reading.
I have absolutely loved this series and I have to say that I am gutted it is finished. I am a huge supporter of Gem and all her writing so I have to say, again, a huge recommendation for anything that G.Bailey has and will, write is a must for a good read. Thanks Gem I can't wait for the next book.
SOOOOOOO GLAD IT ENDED THE WAY I WANTED. And the snippet of the future and the goddesses, that was epic and thank you for still ending the book with nothing really left out. Will there be another sequel to tell how the tales community and angel/demon community get along?? That couldn’t have been the end.... I must go research more of G.Bailey’s books!!
It wasn't long enough, detailed enough to get 5 stars. I like it still but like I said it wasn't long enough. I wanted more details and longer chapters. Don't get me, I do like the book. It was very different and I hope we get more like this in the future for G. Bailey.
Maybe a new adult ones that have more of a detail sex scenes.
