Slow Burn Reverse Harem MMFM
Albany lives in Michigan where she's happily married to her high school sweetheart. She spends most of her time juggling her four children's extracurricular activities, with her nose stuck in a book. When not reading you can find her writing her very own book boyfriends. Albany's passion is writing romance with real characters that are far from perfect, but always seem to find their own happily ever afters.
I really try not to judge a book based off on the one problem I have with it, but this thing just d e s t r o y e d the whole book for me.
What was my problem you ask? Well...
When OW kisses one of the heros and he kisses her back, but Laura doesn't do anything about it when he tells her besides getting weirdly possessive about him. When two random girls in an elevator hits on him and move to physically touch him; he does nothing and says nothing, because "he wanted Laura to claim him". Seriously? SERIOUSLY? S E R I O U S L Y?! It's called self-respect and respecting your partner. YOU SHOULD TRY IT.
Well,(pause) I will say this book was a little better than the first; however, I figure out what's pissing me off about these books... It's the author!!! her writing style and lack of detail about certain things irk the hell out of me! Just damn irritating to say the least. I want to finish this series but I don't think I can read anything else that she has written or will write in the future beside the rest of this series. (SMH... Just NO!)
"Infinity Chronicles, Book Two" continues the journey of Laura as she delves deeper into the mysteries surrounding her life. After discovering that she doesn’t really know much about her past and that much of what she knows is a lie, Laura grapples with her mother's disappearance and the secrets that may never come to light. Her journey of self-discovery is intensified by the manifestation of her abilities, and she starts to understand the significance of being part of an Infinity - though she still has much to learn. As Laura's relationships with each of the guys grow, so does the Infinity bond they share. It’s very sweet to see how different her relationship is with each of them and how complex their little unit really is.
Mystery, jealousy, confusion, romance, and the quest for truth - a great read indeed. 👌 (I still wish I could hear the guys’ POVs.)
Nothing much happens. Mia is still hanging around for most of it being a passive aggressive sore loser. Dante needs to tell Delany to F off. Seriously. Why does he let her manipulate him? Still not much about their powers but more info on Laura's mom and even her dad. MOstly the story is about Laura meeting all the parents of the boys.
I have to wonder why Ollie and Milo are part of the group. They feel more like sidekicks than love interests.
3.75 ⭐️ there was not a whole lot going on in this book, and it was pretty slow. I still enjoyed the story, hoping the next book will pick up the pace.
1.5....heroine is annoying AF and the guys are frustrating. Plus....nothing is ever freaking explained!!! I can understand stretching some things out to keep the suspense BUT this is NOT a suspense book!!
I love whisper sync with Kindle, Like the last book, this audiobook has 1 narrator because the story is only told from the FMCs POV and I mentioned before that it works well for this series, I would enjoy reading POVs from the guys but as a WhyChoose? audiobook the single POV works better than the ones I've heard with multiple POVs and narrators who don't read shared dialogue chapters together.
I was hoping for more character development in this book, mainly from the guys. The FMC is actually doing well so far in her growth. She's young and can come across as immature or naive, but that's mainly because she's just been introduced to the world of infinities, mated pairs, and magic. She's learning things as a young adult that she should have known her whole life and it causes her to seem silly or childish at times. But her reactions also come across as very honest, it might not be the most mature response but her outbursts are real and remind me of how any woman would react in the same situation. The difference is the FMC realizes her mistakes quickly and makes amends for them, I personally don't always show that much understanding for my own mistakes.
The guys however are screwing up big time. There are some serious OW issues that should have been resolved in the last book but they're not taking responsibility for their part or setting clear healthy boundaries with the other women. It's very frustrating, although one woman is being purposely dense and interesting herself in their lives after they've asked her to leave, as in she's living in their home and won't leave! But again that's also because the guys aren't forcibly kicking her out. It's like they're trying to spare her feelings at the expense of the FMC and only making the situation worse. As I said Frustrating!
For some reason one of the guys has been pushed into the background, I can't even remember his name right now because he has so few lines and there's been no time spent getting to know him better.
I will say that the author is good at the slow-burn build-up/foreplay or whatever you want to call it. So far all that's happened is some serious making out and 1 petting session that was somehow still very steamy and made me want to keep reading for the fallout when the characters actually go all the way.
The story itself is interesting but not so attention-grabbing that I'm dying to pick up the next book. Honestly, if it wasn't for the audiobooks I probably would have dropped the series by now and my rating reflects that. If I had been reading instead of listening to the majority of this series I think I would have given it 2 stars, not 3.
I'm holding out... but this series is kind of taking a while to get anywhere. I like it, the story is entertaining enough and a pretty fast read all in all but I just don't feel like the plot is moving forward fast enough. Also there is a pretty huge imbalance of chemistry between the FMC, Laura and her harem. Laura has sizzling chemistry with Ares, and some pretty great chemistry with Dante but Oliver and Milo not so much. I'm not sure if the author is just making this so slow burn and eventually she will get to them? It just seems like there should be some sort of engagements with those characters because it seems pretty unfair that Ares and Dante are getting all the "air" time so to speak. We do get some more reveals leading us along regarding Laura's mom and the past as well as learning a tiny bit more about infinities in general but its moving a little on the slow side which is a real shame because I think if we could just get some more action and maybe some more abilities practice with Laura the series could really take off. If the whole series is just going to be about finding her mom though and not about her and her infinity not sure this is going to hold me for the long haul. I'll keep holding out for a little bit longer.. but dang.
Book two gives us more details about what exactly it means to be an Infinity. We get to see the relationships form between each of the guys and Laura. This is slow burn so the relationships are careful and they take their time but maaaaaaan this one was STEAMY 🔥 I can’t wait to see how good the sexy times get over the course of the next two books.
Laura is officially bonded to two of her four pairs. Those relationships are becoming solid and quickly escalating into steamy, sexy, and completely swoon worthy. The writing is incredible, the flow and pace of the book is quick but fluid.
We don’t know what, exactly, Laura can do but I know for sure that the build up is going to be well worth it.
If you like slow-burn reverse harem with incredible guys, a unique storyline, and brilliant writing...this is for you.
There isn't as many errors in this book than the first. But there is one big plot one that irks me so much I have to share it. I guess it is sort of a spoiler but it's not a major plot point. So just be warned.

Milo has to attend a banquet event for football, and the whole group plus his parents go with. He throws a fit just before going though because apparently his points are too tight. He literally rips out of them and asks one of the other guys to borrow their pants for the event. He only has a pair of jeans aside from those pants, and his coach will chew him out if he shows up to the banquet in those. Ares hands over his pants, and he must not have brought any others (even though Laura mentions the guys opted for jeans earlier on before they drove for he banquet) because he is left in is boxers and the buttoned shirt he is wearing. Not long after Milo and Oliver leave Ares makes a phone call, once again it is brought up that he's pacing back and forth in his boxers. When is done with the phone call however he puts his phone back in his back pocket. ...WTF?!?! He is in his boxers!!!! There is no reason for a pair of boxers to have a back pocket!!!!
Loved it, this one kept me rapt. It’s a slow burn for each one of them and we get to see them evolve roughly at the same time. Some of them get more screen time than others, like Ares and Dante. But what Ollie and Milo lack in screen time they make up for in intense sexual chemistry. Hot dayum.
Dante seems to be the headliner in this one and I love his beta wolf to her alpha-ness. It was so different than most male/ female wolf pairings. The men is usually the alpha but it’s the oposite in this one relationship. I really liked how he challenged her to claim him in some situations. I couldn’t even tell you what the other plot of this book is, for me it’s just the evolution of their love story.
I’m out, sadly this series is just not hitting the marks for me and I’m going to DNF here.
The characters in this book are painfully one dimensional. Not to mention, at least this far in, it feels like the author couldn’t care less about half the guys in this group. There’s a way to show stoicism and struggle while still letting the reader learn about someone rather than just never having them there.
This book would HEAVILY benefit from multi pov and more dynamic characters.
Pages: 241 My rating (stars): 3 Read other books from this author in the future: yes
Book 2 is still slow burn. But some things become more clear. Laura gets to meet the parents of her guys and also finds out a few things about Infinities.
There's even more mysteries than in the last book. Nothing about Laur's Infinity is normal and neither is Laura's abilities. This is such an interesting story and I am enjoying it immensely. My favorite parts are how she bonds the brothers. My least favorite part is how the brothers are around other women. Hopefully that is settled though. If it continues then there is something wrong with the premise of this series. That would be highly disappointing.
I wanted to love it..... but.... there were far many errors and not enough progress in the relationship. The overly detailed descriptions of their kissing actually had the opposite effect for me and I had to restrain myself from skipping over these scenes to get to the actual story! Normally I love a good steamy scene.
The first book had lots of potential, despite errors etc but I don’t think I will carry on reading.
In a book were one would want the heroine Laura to shine,Mia her nemesis casts a gloomy shadow and the single POV leaves some of the actions carried out by the men of her harem appear to be dubious in nature and leaves the reader uncertain in an absence of light regardless of their steadfast cries of adoration.
This is a bit better than book 1 on Editing, but not quite as good on plot - though still decent and worth reading. Still has that aura of “secrets for your own good”, but otherwise, things are moving forward.
Okay so while this book wasn't quite as bad as book 1, it's still not good.
Nothing really happens, it still feels like we're inching our way into a plot. I feel like the real story hasn't even begun yet. And we've just read a 2 book long prologue while watching the world's weirdest episode of the Bachelor.
The book is almost solely focused on the group and finding their new dynamics. Which might have been fine if not for 3 things.
1. Book one already sort of covered this. The relationships are important, the bondings are important--we get it. It should have been taking place along side the bigger, more important plot, instead of being the whole story. Instead, we're just still reading about a buncha socially inept high schoolers figure out how to make out with each other for 350 pages. By the end, we still don't have a ton of developments (she bonds Ares and Dante to her, whatever that means). We don't know what the Synergist is really for, or how their powers work. Let alone why they have them. We get to see a LITTLE bit about their powers mingling, but nothing is explained at all. It's just more of the same stuff as book 1, which leaves this feeling VERY repetitive.
2. Nothing much actually changes between the 5. There is STILL OW drama between Delaney and Dante, and Mia and Ares. Neither boy effectively shuts those side relationships down the way they need to, and Laura seems completely incapable of expressing her feelings well enough to make either of them understand that they're hurting her by continuing to associate with these hobags.
Not to mention, Delaney practically assaults Dante in front of adults, ON CAMERA, and nobody gives a crap. Dante gets his ass chewed out for maybe almost kinda kissing her back in the moment, but Delaney suffers no consequences for her sexual harassment.
The situation with Mia is almost worse. She and Ares, we learn in this book, have been on-again off-agains for years. And she's very clearly in love with him (she admits it). She's also dead set on not giving up and getting Laura out of the picture, priming her to become a villain--all because Ares doesn't kick her ass to the curb the way he needs to.
3. Milo and Ollie are there--but they feel more like the comic relief or friendly sidekicks as opposed to equal parts of this 5 person team. Laura spends almost all her time draped over Ares or Dante. She only really ever makes out with Ares and Dante. Only gets heavy with Ares and Dante. Sure, Milo and Ollie get pity kisses here and there, but they don't feel like necessary characters. The two brothers openly hog Laura for themselves.
Now. As for the plot--there is actually a teeny bit more in this book than in book 1. We get to meet the boys' parents. So I guess Laura finally gets to see how the dynamic of these pairs works. We also learn that Dante and Ares' mom know/knew Laura's mom. We also learn that there's a bad guy out there who potentially killed his pair-mate and stole his powers and who might maybe be Laura's daddy.
All of that's good stuff--but it all happens in the last 10% of the story. We get a SINGLE sit-down convo with the parents where we're essentially told about all this horrible stuff that happened about 20 years ago. The end. Next book.
At this point I don't know why I'm still bothering to read this series. There's something about it that makes it addictive--maybe the fact that I still don't have a damned clue what's going on. Maybe it's because they're super quick and easy to get through.
Whatever it is, on to book 3. Maybe we'll find the plot we're so badly lacking!
Book: Infinity Chronicles Book Two Read By: Ebook Author: Albany Walker Genre:Reverse Harem, Romance, Fantasy Recommend: Yes < b>Age recommendation: 18-30+ Years My feelings:
Sequels are often hit or miss, but this second instalment in the series is a definite hit. The reader delves even deeper into the world of Infinity, gaining more insight into its complex nature. As Laura's relationships with each of the guys continue to grow, we see genuine bonds forming filled with tenderness and raw passion. “You start that, and you won’t be going into work today.” Ares saunters into the bathroom, leaving me to stare after him.
The slow progression only adds to the anticipation for what's to come in the next two books. With two of Laura's pairings now officially bonded, their connections grow stronger with each passing day. But it's not just the steamy moments that keep you captivated - the writing is superb, with a quick yet seamless pace that keeps you hooked. While the heat level may only be rated a 5 out of 10, for young adult spice it would probably be closer to 1 out of 10 overall. “That was why Milo and I were so confused when we saw you there the first time. She hired you because she wanted to, not because she needed to.”
However, the story itself is so masterfully crafted that you won't even notice. And while we may still be left wondering about Laura's true abilities, one thing is certain: the build-up will be worth it. If you're a fan of slow-burn reverse harem tales with intricate characters and impeccable writing, this series is an absolute must-read. “You guys are on the right track,” her eyes start to glaze over as a fog covers them, “but watch out for the one who knows.”
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book seems so different from the first one. Laura seemed so unsure and feisty but shy in the first book but this one she seems more like a doormat. Sure she argues and fights with the guys but she always apologizes and the guys just do it again. This book fills me with anxiety. I just keep waiting for someone to cheat. The guys don't think there wrong and none of it feels healthy. They don't really think about Laura and how this may look to her or how she may feel about them.
Infinity book 2 Luara is really struggling to find her place within her infinity group. Due to the powers each member brings, she gets overwhelmed with wanted to be with them and worrying they will abandoned her which makes for some misunderstandings as they all work towards becoming a true infinity.
It just keeps getting better and better! I could hardly put the book down. I still feel a little uncomfortable as to certain characteristics of the female lead, but otherwise completely love the story and have ants in my pants to get to the next one!
Sleeping arrangements, people using the same bathroom, car seating arrangements, insane levels of jealousy, relationship status talks, a few 'revelations', meeting the in-laws, and bitey kisses
There, another summary for you.
I need to rant. I'm frustrated, I really am. I was expecting some improvement, especially with Laura's lackluster character, but it was just not there.
I'm sadly pretty much done with this series. Book #2 was only slightly better from the first one because this one didn't have too many "we'll talk about it later"s. But the reason this one sucked, and I'm sorry but it did, was because of Laura, the FMC.
She is just an asshole. She seems like a victim of everything, but she is really a selfish brat that needs a reality check. She treats Dante like dirt, believing the worst of him, and mistrusting him for no good reason . She treats Milo even worse - seeing as she barely even acknowledges him in her life or within the Infinity bond thing. She treats Ollie like he's just a fun clown character to have around for those uncomfortable silences. And well, her relationship with Ares is basically what this book is about, so why bother with the rest? I got a tad sick of reading about her and Ares getting it on all the time.
Not to mention, Laura ruins the entire reverse harem aspect for me by questioning her relationships constantly, and wondering whether kissing her guys or being seen with more than one man will make her a whore. This whore thing was a touchy subject for her in the first book, as well. She is basically slut-shaming herself. These insecurities should have been dealt with in the first book already.
Also, not much happens in this book. Apart from unnecessary "other woman" issues, a few revelations about Laura's mom, Laura meeting the boys' parents and being awkward about it, and some love bites, it was just more of the same.
So. I liked them enough to read all four books. But they're less books, per se, than, well, you know how authors sometime release bonus scenes as extras for newsletter subscribers or whatnot? Yeah, I felt like all four books were kinda like that. Generally, as I remember from Junior High English class, for a story you need a conflict, rising action, a climax, and falling action or resolution or something (it's been a while since Jr. High English...). These books supposedly have a plot - girl is the missing link for this super powered group of four guys, increases their powers, and fated soul mates, obviously. The conflict is that her mother goes missing (shows up in book four) and because of this and possible nebulous threat, they're keeping their relationship on the DL from the rest of their kind (for a while anyway). The reality is that none of this is really gripping though, you get no sense of urgency or threat for the characters. Main focus of the books is on the development of their relationship(s). The threat at the end is actually resolved pretty quickly and easily with little fuss. All in all, I read all four because I thought the development of the relationships was cute, but that's all these are, an accounting of the relationships. No other pressing plot to be found, so if you're looking for it, you won't find it here, which is completely unrealistic, and really pushes the suspension of disbelief to the next level; it's like the author decided she just wanted to write a romance and the any other plot point is completely secondary. Again, they're cute if you just want the tale of how the characters get close to each other and fall in love, some cute feel good stuff. But if you want more, this isn't it.
I will say, while all these reverse harems are pretty similar, this particularly reminded me of a less fleshed out and less dark version of Jane Washington's Seraph Black series. I definitely would NOT say piracy or anything untoward like that, it's definitely not that similar, but it just reminds me a bit of that series.
So I don’t hate the book at all, it’s hooked my interest well enough but it’s just missing a bit of action. I tire of all the hurt feelings and the misunderstandings. In a way the author did good by really staying true to a young girl who’s been emotionally and physically neglected and in the first book it made sense and while I was annoyed, ultimately it did make sense for the characters. I tire of it now though and want to scream at them.
Plus, the biggest disappointment for me, which isn’t a fault for the book or author, but I came expecting smut, like real smut, not Teen smut which is all just making out. In real life yeah them boys would 💯 need super powers of restraint for how many times they started and stopped.
So I understand my mistake for not researching the book before hand, but I need some hardcore sh*t to be a part of the story or I lose interest. By reading the reviews for the rest of the books it looks like nothing more is coming. So I have to say this is the first book I will have dnf’d, but for my own tastes really. It’s not a terrible book, just a bit “white chicken breast and rice” with zero seasonings or salt and pepper. So DNF’d for lack of 🌶️.
I really enjoy the world that's being painted here. My main issue is it's super slow going, slow storyline slow burn. It isn't a problem and I still really love it but I'd like a bit more excitement now the world and characters have been built. Fingers crossed for the next book!
