Lol I didn’t realize it took a month and a half...
BUT I FINISHED IT

Quite horrible, actually. This one. Oh for god’s sake...

another game
This one is called:

GUESS WHO MARCELLA IS?!

Because guess the fuck what she’s yet to be a solid character. Deity possession aside, she’s still ever changing and ever confusing.

Whatever.

Keiran was gone for like, 3 solid chapters.
No one noticed
Poof.
He came back.

WE NOTICE THESE THINGS.
We had a whole discussion on it.
HA.

And then a lovely, cliffhanger ending.

I’m highly debating whether I’ll read the next installment because like a cliffhanger ending, this series took a cliff sized nose dive for the worst.

*sips tea*
Such a shame.

The series started kinda promising - I forgive A LOT when I have a badass FMC and I thought she was going to become one - but turned into a real mess really quick. By now I am only reading on to see what happens next. And because they are on KU, I wouldn't okay money for them. I am not gonna rate the next books, if I finish the series.

When the first two book came out, they captivated my attention and i read them in under a day or two but with this third book i found myself really disappointed and it was a pain continuing the story so when i was almost at the end i pretty much skimmed it to see if something interesting would happen.

All the events in the story were just annoying and kept revolving over the fact that they didn’t have a choice in the matter and how Marcella wasn’t acting right. She was either being way to bitchy and a hard head or she was just letting others step all over her. Marcella keeps saying she’s the sixth of the brotherhood and how they need her but nothing has proven that. In all the books it says that the sixth is the most powerful being and is the “boss”, most “badass” yet Marcella has yet to step up on that pedestal. And then there’s all this shit about the sires and the maker and the “born in my image” bullshit that just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Anyway all in all, i am disappointed in this book and when book 4 comes out, i won’t be in a rush to read it, thats for sure.

Still good but wobbling

There are some spoilers below:

So, I’m really digging this series and the characters so far. Things started to get a bit off the rails with the rapid fire *changing* of the group dynamic. It seems very fishy to me that the main character, Marcella, is always *acting out of character* if that is exactly how she’s been acting for the whole serious now. I don’t believe you anymore. She is either normally erratic all the time or you are lying that she is usually the pinnacle of cool, calm, and the smartest in the room. I don’t feel like she is the alpha sixth of the group at all. So either really make her some smart member of the team instead of just saying so or let her be some dramatic damsel who will get pregnant very young in her immortal life during a very unhelpful time of conflict.

Talks of kids made me uncomfortable and I found myself skimming to the end of the book to see if this was going to be yet another story that derailed some epic story with the surprising yet somehow completely inevitable development of babies for a 20 year old immortal. Like dude, let her be amazing and smart and singular- you don’t have to make her fall pregnant to make the book interesting or for drama or tension. You are effectively cutting off the current story at its knees at that point and shifting it to a “I must protect my vulnerable mate who used to be powerful from danger and not let her be included in anything for her own safety”. And then have the mate be ruffled by the overbearing nature of her *alpha mates*. Read that, seen that, was saddened by that too many times in these fantasy novels. It’s boring and I hope it doesn’t happen here.

I will keep an eye out for the fourth book but I’m no longer excited to devour it like the books before.

Ok

The story started off fine but I lost interest when the Gods appeared. The plot and imagery got a little convoluted because the perspective was from each character through dreams/reality- throw in a bit of time travel and illusion, characters struck with various maladies so they can’t communicate and loosing touch with reality.....I just switched off and waited for the storyline to start up again. They were in the same location through most of the book which, I felt, didn’t help with the feeling of plot progression.

The Cavalry are still the most interesting characters in the story so far (distractingly so) and definitely need a series of their own -I wanted to leave when they did and find out about their mate. It may be a predictable plot device but I would have been a happy reader if most of the info about the Creators came from the Cavalry.

It was a good ending but I’m not 100% sure I’m going to continue reading the series yet.

Hmmm. I don’t know.

I loved the first 2 books, but this one not so much. Maybe it is just that this is a bridge book between the meeting of the group and the action of the final books. The whole thing just got weird. It’s still well written, just kinda like True Blood once Lilith showed up. It got strange and seems to have broken away from the story I thought it was telling.

I’ll finish the series to see how it comes together, but I’m taking a break.

I wish the authors had let us get to know the characters and let them get to know each other better in this books.

Ugh! Do you ever read that one book that drags on for way too long and then drops a ton of lore and plot in the last 30-50 pages that makes you wish they hadn't spent the past 200 giving you nothing? Yeah? Well this was that book for me...... Ugh, roll on the next one but I'm starting to lose hope with this series, I want the tense badass-ery of the first book back.

i was really trying my best to keep up with the book and just finish it but it really was not worth it. the plot just kept adding new random things that didnt even seem cohesive and it still had the same problems from the previous books. not worth it.

Ok fam so this is a review for Stained minds;the salsang chronicles by Helen Scott, Serena akeryod

FOR THE NIGHT IS DARK AND FULL OF SPOILERS******read at your own peril ****

Wow.... just wow. So we leave off book 2 with the crew in Nevada at a safe house after finding out
That Marcella (shadow weaver) has SIX mates instead of five with her being the 6th. Darius is her Pursang mate so now she has six guys.

Keir- dream walker
Cade - time walker
I missed someone here ... ummmm what’s his name . Yep that’s how memorable this harem was
Barclay- shifter
Gideon- Druid
Raven - ??? Ummmm I can’t remember . Keir and raven blend in as the same person for me.
Marcella- (shadow walker and reincarnation descendent of the maker)
Darius - pursing ancient mate of Marcella

Ok so ... they are in Nevada ... and guess what they don’t leave the house in Nevada until the last 3 -5 pages. The ENTIRE book is based in the house.

BUT in saying that some super weird bullshit magic happens and it’s exciting confusing shocking weirdness so ... ok I’m still interested

Ok ok so Marcella left off being super bratty suddenly powerful chick in this book there is some character development but she calls herself a stupid bitch at the start so that was hard cringe for me calls herself stupid for being so selfish then goes on to say she will do “whatever the fuck I want” fuck the consequences.... it’s not even the best kind of character development the guys become the harem that make decisions for the MC “for her benefit” with no communication or consent ....

Then to move the story forward extra characters are brought in - the 7 UBER ancient sexy guys who are the man servants to the masters but they already have a female mate ... she is human and gets reincarnated every time she dies forgets her memories and then has to re learn them all over again - if this was a kristy cunning novel I would be getting serious paca vibes

Sexy times happened ✔️
Magic shit happened that was confusing but kinda cool I guess ✔️
Did anyone communicate well ... not really

I dunno ... I mean I will read the next one but I was confused and disappointed and yelled at my kindle many times for the characters to get their shit together and talk!!!

The thing is, I really love the team.

I can't continue because Marcella is a reckless idiot. She claims to care about her team, and then does everything she can to endanger them and fuck everything up. No. Fuck her.

I read the first 2 books in the series and thought, okay.. the story plot and the characters powers intrigued me enough to keep going. I like that the h is more powerful than her mates, and she seemed okay in the first book. And Darius interested me enough lol.

On this book though, the heroine annoyed me so much. She is always described (from the guys pov) that she is behaving “erratically, irrate” or “out of character” but she is like this throughout THE WHOLE BOOK. She is enraged all the time, either blaming/shaming herself, or literally got mad at everyone over everything. Someone gave her a new information or tried to tell her something, somehow she took offense and got enraged. And suddenly the author just throw in the reasons that she behaved so “erraticaly”. But for the whole book (and also since the second book actually) I have yet seen the “normal” phase of the heroine.

And the whole book just situated in one place. So I feel like the storyline isn’t progressing as much. But at the same time, a lot of new informations got thrown at me. The whole Merlin and Arthur, the Cavalry. Basically a lot of back and forth between Marcella got angry, they got new information, then Marcella got angry, sm*t, new info, Marcella got angry, and so on.

And 1 thing that bugged me, what kind of person asked their prisoner, that they hated so much before, the prisoner that had been tortured by her mates, for a FASHION TIPS? Marcella was so desperate for a ‘female tips’ for PICKING OUT A DRESS for her date, that she just went to ask this prisoner??? And ironically Marcella has been going to an all girls school all her life and she did not picked up on any single thing(?). This is probably just some weird thing that irked me, but…. it is just so random and not make much sense to me.

Didnt love it.

This one felt a bit better than the last two but it also fell short for me. What was interesting in this book were the amount of contradictions to previous things. For example in the first book I was pretty sure they guys said they were pretty early claiming their sixth only after 3 years but in this book that became decades? Legit no sense. And why did the keep remembering that old case that was a drug bust? It fed nothing into the plot. It honestly felt like things just happened and the character had no control or impact to the plot, nothing was explained and things didn't make sense. I get that sometimes it's important to keep things a mystery for later but so much didn't make sense. Also how did it take three books for these idiots to realise contraception didn't work? Like how irresponsible can six people be about sex? Like how ridiculous that not one of them even thought about it until! Darius was like oh yeah mate it doesn't work and she goes into heat like an animal. Um what? Why was this not common knowledge prior to them having a lot of sex. Urg. It felt like there were many missing plot links in this story that we didn't get and it felt a tad rushed. It's unfortunate because I like the concept of the story just not the execution of it.

Like I said on the review of the second book, this series is unbearable. I wish it wasn't, it had potential, but it wasn't meant to be for me.

The authors forget what their own characters look and act like, characterization is all over the place, plot is meandering and without complexity, the instalove and instalust is irritating, actual real-life history is blatantly ignored and disregarded, and everything is overexplained, immature, and ridiculous.

On another ridiculous note, more fucking nicknames were added in this installment in addition to the 16 others in book 1 and 2, making the total now 23 nicknames:

Little hellcat, honey, little warrior,
dulcissima, mate, mea vita, meum cor.

I'm sure book 4 and 5 include new iterations, but I'm gonna sit this one out, folks. They aren't worth my time.

Happy reading, Goodreads fiends.

Gideon and Cade are incapacitated after the confrontation at the bank went horribly wrong. Marcella's illusion wasn't real and now Cade is at his weakest while Gideon is in a coma state after being stabbed in the abdomen. The others cannot figure out what was on the knife, no matter what means they use to question the people who were robbing the bank. Darius pulls out the big guns and calls in the Calvary, four ancient beings who have more power and magic to them than the Maximus Brotherhood and their Sixth possess. The Calvary may just hold the answers to the questions but at what cost to them? Unfortunately, nothing is as it seems and other forces are in play. Marcella and the men are not afraid to pay the ultimate price for one of their own but will they finally find some peace?

Serena, Helen....that ending...need more!

Well that was one of the best books I have read all year! It's the third installment in the Salsang Chronicles and by far my favourite of them so far. The story just keeps getting deeper and deeper with more things revealed and gods being awakened.
Marcella becomes so much more into her power and being a kickass vampire a d shadow weaver. Her and her guys bond deepens to a new level and the steamy scenes are seriously good!
I could rave about this book for ever, it's seriously captivating!
On a more serious note, Serena, babe that ending was killer. Absolutely love it and can't wait to read the next one!

Fantastic series

Wow!! What a cliffhanger I wasn't expecting that at all. I will say this much I absolutely enjoyed this book, however I had lots of questions and very few answers. This book does pack lots of information into it that makes you reference to the previous books so you can get a better understand of the story. But at that point I was really annoyed with Marcella. Beside that I enjoyed the intensity and how the plot thicken with every book in the series. I still have no idea about which side is bad and which one is worse!!! Look forward to seeing what else is in store for this series.

WTF???

Seriously, what the f**k did I just fu**ing read? Like what the ever loving f**king sh*t?
Anyway... I had so many problems with this book. Where do I begin? Let’s start with the cussing. Every other words was either fu*k or sh*t, it was kinda distracting from the “plot” of the story.
Ah yes, the plot... can anyone tell me what this book was about? What was the major conflict? Experienced any character growth? Was anything major truly explained? EXACTLY.
I’m struggling to find why the authors lost the nice rhythm that they set in book one. Book four is available now and here’s hoping it’s better, bc i can’t take 3 books straight of nothingness.

Off to a bad start - 3 pages in and, I quote, "...the mate bond was beyond sacred and was to be preserved at all costs, no matter what. The only time it came in second was if the female mate was the one inflicting damage or pain, then, and only then, would a male pursang act in his own defense."

But weren't we just told that her mother was not only a thrall to the FMC's father but also his mate, and yet her beat her all the time. The inconsistencies here is glaring and really dragging me out of the story.

I don't know if I'll continue honestly. Other reviews say the FMC gets erratic and the story gets dragged out, I don't have time for all that mess.

I love how the intensity increases and the plot thickens with every book in this series. This one did not disappoint and I couldn't put it down. I love how intricately each of the species in these books are explained and how each character has their own voice and a distinct personality. But the thing I enjoyed about this book the most was that now I have no idea about which side is bad and which one is worse!! THE SUSPENSE!!!
I absolutely need the next book as soon as possible!!

Great!

Dang it with the cliffhangers! I feel like I’m always salivating for the next one of these books and go through them way too quickly. We got an interesting crash course on the origins of the lines in this book and introductions to some new characters that I’m sure we haven’t come close to seeing the last of yet. I still have so many questions but at the same time I love the layers to this story that are constantly being peeled back. I can’t wait for book 4!

Great twists

Wow! What a cliffhanger. A lot happens and it happens so quickly at times it got a little jumbled for me. I loved it but it was a lot to take. The big issue going on now is that it seems Merlin is the Maker who started the different supernatural lines. His descendants are supposed to keep him asleep and when they aren't needed, they sleep too. It is a pretty cool twist to the story.

The series started out good but has been going downhill with every new book. New villains, new powers, new backstory is introduced that was never hinted at.

You start out in a school scenario which transforms into an investigation which suddenly becomes a prevent-the-gods-from-rising-and-triggering-the-apocalypse. Character development halts, new powers come out of nowhere, old powers don't work...

Not the final book

I thought this was the final book and I thought the series was complete. I was wrong and I hate reading series that are not finished. But to late now, I am addicted. To make matters worst, this book ended on a cliffhanger and I do not know how long I have to wait. UGH! I hate waiting particularly when I really want to know what happens next.

I loved it. It's getting very interesting and the story is winding into a powerful journey. I am so into the charters and there back story, there growth, there power. It's amazing. This book flowed so well. I was pulled in so deeply. I will continue this story I can not wait for all the answers.

Marcella

Marcella and her mates are being guided or should I say they are puppets. For you see there are ancient beings at work here that want something from Marcella. She is important to them but yet we don't know why. Although one seems to be trying to protect her, one is set on killing her. And her mates are trying to protect her from all threats.

Dang, this one has a lot of things happening. The FMC is a bit crazy and all over the place in this one, but the why is explained so stick it out. I was unsure what I thought about the Authurian legends being the core of the story, but I'm intrigued with the direction it is going and look forward to seeing how it will play out in the last two books.

Love this series

Honestly this series is such a fresh turn for supernaturals. I love it. The story is beautifully written but there are some scenes that make you feel like you missed something major but it’s too late to try to go back and figure it out. You just gotta catch up and put two and two together. Other than that, I really recommend this series.
