This really exceeded my expectations. What I thought would be one of my least favorite stories out of this line of comics has become my favorite at the moment.
It was hard to see the abuse, manipulation, and degradation. This story I admit, I was expecting to be more about Snoke, but alas, it was insight to Kylo Ren/Ben Solo.
Thats my only minus 1 star is that I had expectations of it being about one character but it turned into being about another
As I expected, this wasn't a Snoke comics so much as a Snoke and Kylo Ren comic. But this delivered on showing the type of training I was expecting to see in The Last Jedi, after Snoke had mentioned at the end of The Force Awakens that it was time for Kylo to complete his training. Making it a trip to the cave on Dagobah was a great touch, and I also loved the stuff at the beginning. I'm still not quite sure when this takes place in relation to Kylo's fallout with Luke. But it's clear that Kylo is still struggling with his love for his parents. And we see bit of what Kylo will end up trying to do to Snoke later on. Your mileage may vary on whether or not it works to show this here.
As with the Phasma comic, calling this one "Snoke" is a bit of a misnomer because it's really about Kylo Ren. We see Ren on Dagobah in the cave of nightmares, facing off against his fears and it was a punch to the gut if I've ever seen one.
Despite the short length, i feel like this comic still revealed a lot about the dymamic between snoke and ben/kylo, which was much needed.
And though it's called "supreme leader snoke", don't be fooled, this comic is clearly about kylo and serves the purpose of adding to his backstory (which was well done and definitely helped me further understand his character).
Also, i've noticed there was a lot of emphasis on snoke's ring...hmmm.
"It was okay / I liked it." - 2.5 star rating, with a round up to a 3.
A mediocre Kyle Run and Snoke comic, that is strong enough to barely cross the finish line as a 3-star rating.
Stan Lee has a really amazing "Stan's Soapbox" found within this comic about the power of love that is really moving. Definitely a big highlight for this issue.
Really enjoying these Star Wars comic book 'one-shots' and will continue to pursue these for the time being.
Great comic about the training Snoke put Kylo Ren through.
It really shows why Kylo Ren hated Snoke so much, but it almost felt like more of a Kylo Ren comic and Smoke was just there being mean. But I would recommend to any star wars fans who wants to learn more about our new characters.
