I was looking for a good time travel read and came across this series. In this one we have one of the kids from book 1. The story was pretty well done I just didn’t like how all of the sudden they fall in love. It just was annoying.
PS. Sorry for the short and sweet reviews but I have over thirty I need to do today.
Fantastic ,I found this gem in a collection of books and this one really stuck out to me, I had the best time reading it and could easily imagine myself in the characters place. Time travel yes please ,five stars
The premise was great and the characters weren’t even bad, but there seemed to be gaps, no credible reason for the: to fall in love, it was contrived .
This is a short sweet romantic story. Our heroine is Alys DeWitt of the year 2015. She is an intelligent, educated, stubborn, headstrong young woman. Alys is kind, considerate and thoughtful of others especially her younger sister Regina. She is a trained surgeon with only a few months left in her residency with a fellowship to follow. Alys loves her work but lacks that special someone in her life. Our hero is James Kendall, the Fifth Duke of Weston of the year 1815. He survived the war with France but was left with mental and emotional scars. He is a man that quickly comes to a decision and executed it. He is thoughtful of his staff and loves his younger sister Rosanna. James is also a very good friend to Dominic Rossington, the Marquess of Seabrook. James is a twin and the second son of the Third Duke of Weston. When his twin brother Edward died, he inherited the title. This was not the life he asked for. He felt the heavy responsibility of being a duke. In the present, Alys is in England for a Regency themed wedding of her sister Regina. Her Fiancé is Trenton and he is the stepbrother of the current Duke of Weston, Bradford Kendall. Trenton and Regina were getting married at the Duke's manor in Kent. After the ceremony, Alys goes for a walk by the cliffs and sees a white bunny rabbit. The next thing she knows she is falling and becomes unconscious. She unknowingly has drifted back in time to 1815 and Fifth Duke of Kendall, James Kendall finds her at the bottom of the cliffs. He knows it is his duty to help Alys. He is struck by her strange shoes. He manages to get her to the manor. When Alys awakes she is taken off guard by her surroundings but thought she was in an old part of Bradford's manor. When she mistakes James for Bradford, her awareness becomes quite considerable. She asks James the date and when he tells her 1815, she is stunned and cannot comprehend a thing. Alys tells James she is from the future 2015. He believes her mad. But then she proves it to him and shows him her driver license. From there things between Alys and James become quirky, a little strange, desperate and passionate. A wonderful short story. When I reached the last page, I did not want it to end. Hallelujah! A clean romance that is decently written and edited! Now, when I say decently written, I am overlooking obvious plot holes etc. We are supposed to suspend disbelief for these stories and just enjoy them for what they are. I have had issues with this author's technical writing ability in other books, but this one was not bad at all. Again, keep in mind these books are just for fun. Alys Dewitt's sister is marrying. Her sister isn't evil, just spoiled and immature. Alys is along for the ride as her maid of honor. While taking a walk after the wedding, Alys falls off of a cliff. Sounds dreadful but she doesn't die or even become badly hurt. She actually 'falls through time' to the year 1815. Alys is found on the shore by James Kendall, the new Duke of Weston. He carries her to his home and places her under his care. Hijinks ensue!
Pros: I actually enjoyed both the characters. Alys frankly reminded me of me - short and mouthy. I enjoyed the Duke not necessarily understanding all of Alys' verbiage but he was along for the ride. The language for Alys was on target for her time period. The Duke's wasn't quite as proper but it wasn't too awfully bad. I thought it was a funny poke at the time period as well to have the Duke hare off to procure a marriage license before anything else was done. However, in reality of that time period, that was his safest bet. I also liked Roseann's curiosity and the fact that Dominic is a total mystery.
Cons: The Duke's language was a bit to easy and modern. Had he spoken in verbiage more consistent with the time period, the contrast would have been more fun. Roseann as well. Young ladies of that time period DO NOT say "yeah". I actually shuddered at that. "Smirk" was again overused. I'll repeat - it is an overused and under-descriptive word. Please find a thesaurus and use only one "smirk" per novel! There were a few improper preposition uses in sentences but not the pages and pages I normally find. A few F-bombs were dropped. I personally don't care and thought they were kind of funny but some people don't like them.
All in all, one of this author's better readings. I look forward to the next ones in the series! I want to see what happens to Regina, Alys' sister.
This was a cute time travel story, mostly because Stevie Zimmerman narrated it. I plan on listening to the next one because Carolyn Morris is narrating that one but I’m passing on Surrendering to My Spy because in the sample you could hear 2 men talk and they sounded just like women. WTH? That was narrated in 2017 and the narrator, Donna Vaughan, couldn’t even try to sound manly? Do women readers REALLY want to hear men who sound like women that they would give a terrible narrator 5 stars because she does the women’s voices so well? Go figure!
Anyway, this was about Alys, from 2015, who fell through time to 1815 where she was rescued by James, the Duke Of Weston. It was a sweet love story that I enjoyed immensely. Alys was a doctor and when James was shot she took the bullet out and when James awoke and asked to see HIS doctor Alys informed James that that man would never be back. LOL, Alys held a letter opener to the doctors throat when he would have put a leech on her when she was first found. I found that quite understandable, that she would kill him for such a thing. Ewww.
Of course, since this was a novella, it was kind of insta-love but it happened over a week rather than 2 days, so there’s that.
There was no sex in this story but there was some great sexual tension between Alys and James. Anyone can write a sex scene but it’s a good author that can leave the sex out and write sexual tension.
And the F-bomb was used 2 times by Alys.
As to the narration: Stevie Zimmerman is wonderful. She reads with great emotions and her men sound like men.
Alys Dewitt is a modern woman, a surgeon, but cannot say "NO" to the people around her. The story starts with Alys as the Maid of Honor to her sister, who is getting married to the brother of the Duke of Weston. During the wedding festivities Alys takes a walk and falls off a cliff - waking up in 1815, shortly after Napoleon had been defeated. The then acting Duke of Weston, James, has recently come into the title unexpectedly and as he needs an heir and wants to protect Alys tries to persuade her to marry him. While he is doing so, he finds out more about Alys, but also a plot. The story is a mix of Regency Adventure Story and time traveller confusion, an interesting mix. It would definitely be easier to understand the story if one had read the first book in the series, but it is still possible to read this story as an independent story. Book 2 of the Linked Across Time series has Alys going back to the 1800’s after falling off a cliff following get this a white rabbit. In 2015 she is the dependable one the one every one look to do whatever they want. Dress in regency inspired dress for her sister wedding I guess it is a good thing since she tumbled into the past. James finds her (he looks like someone she knows) and the story is off and running and a very good story it is. When James is hurt and what Alys does was awesome. I am so glad I got the chance to read this one. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I have to admit that I didn't understand the "Alice in Wonderland" reference until a little white rabbit showed up on a cliff, leading Alys into the past. In the future, there is a family portrait with an uncanny resemblance to Alys. This starts to boggle the mind when you think Alys was in that time and had her portrait made but in the future, the Duke remarks that there is a resemblance. What came first? The portrait or the woman?
This is an enjoyable book that will have you finding parts that relate to other stories that you may know. It's a wonderful trip and I hope you'll like it as much as I did.

This is amusing and romantic. James is bold, impulsive and determined. Alys is stubborn, snarky and brave. When Alys finds herself in the past, she know if she can bear to be just a wife and mother, instead of the surgeon she had been going training to be. There was something about James that drew her, besides the lust that was hot between them, and he felt the same. He wants for them to marry immediately, to protect her reputation, she wants to think about it, but for them to sleep together while she's thinking about it. It's a battle of wills that drives them both crazy.

I enjoyed James and Alys's unique story from the start to the finish and the play on Alice in Wonderland. On the eve of her sisters wedding, after the ceremony but before the reception, Alys slips out into the night for a much needed breath of fresh air. Much on her mind, she spies a white rabbit near the end of the cliffs... The attention to detail and the humour captured my interest. The thought of slipping back to another time is such a lovely romantic dream to me I suppose. The plot was not straightforward and I spent ages trying to figure out a possible ending. The ending was the perfect touch (with no spoilers as this is a must read!). Can't wait to move onto the next instalment!
Alys was just trying to make it through her sister's wedding. She didn't think that was all that much to ask but fate has something else up its sleeve for her. James is just trying to get home to mourn the death of his twin brother, heal his wounds from the war, and prepare to take over as the new duke. He most certainly wasn't looking to find a woman lying at the bottom of a cliff as he returns home. But that is what is what he found. Now... they have to find a way to adjust to their new lives. 💕❤️️💕

Alys is from 2015, training to be a heart surgeon and waiting to get her sister married off. That’s when she falls through time and ends up in 1815.
James is from 1815, wounded from the war, in recovery and suffering from PTSD. He finds Alys lying on the road.
At first, he thinks she’s mad but soon this woman excites him like no other and he vows to make her his. He’s very much a chivalrous gentleman. But Alys can more than handle herself and may even save him.

This was an unexpectedly entertaining read! I am not normally a fan of time travel stories, but I really enjoyed Alys and James's story when I found it in the Mad About Dukes anthology. He is surprisingly open minded for a man of his time, and Alys has quite an adjustment to make in order to survive in Regency England. She is an outspoken independent career woman who has awoken to find herself transplanted into a foreign world where those traits can land her in a lot of trouble. I will definitely be checking out more of the stories in this series in the future.
Alys is with her sister preparing for Regina's wedding and afterwards alys takes a walk and sees a bunny and falls off a cliff but when she wakes up she in 1815 and meets James Weston. James has returned home from the war having been notified his twin brother has passed away and he finds a woman on the beach and so he takes her to his home to see a doctor.

Although a short read, it captivated me. Alys is thrown back in time and finds love in the most unexpected person! Both the hero and the heroine are strong characters and I loved the clashing between them. The epilogue was a nice touch. I just wish it was longer, with a more detailed plot.

At the wedding of her sister bothed dressed in Regency clothing as her sister had insisted for all her guests. Finally the wedding was over and she could get some fresh air. Suddenly she fell over the cliff face. Waking up in the arms of a man she thought she knew but it was an ancestor. Over 200 years in the past. What was happening!
An enjoyable read, I loved how forthright Alys was and how she was able to use her knowledge to her advantage. James was a likeable character too, he was a tad over protective but true to his time. I enjoyed how their relationship grew. I received a copy via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Book two in the Linked Across Time series and I am going to go back and get the first book as I enjoyed reading this one. James Kendall, the Duke of Weston and Alys Dewitt’s story kept me turning pages I had to know what was going to happen. I thoroughly enjoyed this time travel romance with great characters, romance and intrigue. She was her sisters maid of honor and the next thing she knew she was in 1815. She had fallen off a cliff and was rescued. There is a lot of romance and intrigue and the ending was great.

I like time travel romances because you get to see how a modern person would deal with living in the past and in reverse how someone from back in time would react to the changes in the world today. Alys was angry, fighting against being stuck in the Regency era and having to follow James’ commands. I love that she was well versed in self-defense and how she stood up to the leech carrying doctor.
This is a time travel romance and it was a great story. It was a short read and a page Turner. My only complaint was the f bomb several times, that's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

She was going to be a bridesmaid for her sister. The wedding was taking place on a duke estate. She falls through a time portal and ends up in the past. She is hurt and he thinks she is mad. What will happen between them? Can she get back to her own time? Will she want to? See what will happen
It's a short read and could have used a more thourough spellcheck. But apart from this, it has been a fine book with likeable characters. I was hoping/dreading for an explanation of the time Travel, but luckily that never showed up.
If your looking for something light. This seemed to contain multiple elements from other books. The hero didn't seemed to question the whole time travel thing and the falling in love happened very fast.
Alys, a young surgeon finishing her residency, escapes her sister's wedding and travels back in time. Alys is the daughter of the hero and heroine of book 1. Good story. Narration is excellent and much better than in book 1.
