Hit-Girl heads to Hong Kong to take out the head of the Triad and gets involved with a gang of homeless kids. This was probably the best arc yet of the Hit-Girl series. Lots of crazy, over the top violence with an Asian cinema bent. Parlov's art was more than solid.

This one beats out the Kevin Smith arc as my favorite of these due to it just being a better book all around. The art is better in this one. The story is less WTF and more of a believable story that you could’ve seen Millar writing from his original take on the character. The story is a little played out through these new volumes, but this one was written well enough that I didn’t really notice it in this volume so much. Daniel Way definitely brings his talent from writing Deadpool into this one with the perfect mix of humor and violence with a couple surprise twists throughout this four-issue run.

The Hit-Girl series, which had her traveling the globe to hunt down gangs everywhere, now has her going to Hong Kong on a mission. There, she'll find herself with a group of street urchins as she tries to take down a notorious gangster. While some of the story lines in this particular series, as well as the art work, were sketchy at times, this foray was actually on the better side in both regards. The story was actually pretty interesting, if a bit over-the-top even for Hit-Girl, and the art was good enough.

Tras el pésimo sabor de boca que me dejó el volumen anterior, me dio mucho gusto el cambio de rumbo para esta nueva aventura. Daniel Way decide no intentar desarrollar a un personaje que no tiene cabida para mucho crecimiento. En cambio, opta por enfocarse en la acción pero sin hacer de éste un comic descerebrado. Muestra a Mindy como una persona capaz y mesurada en cuanto a su planeación de golpes, una estratega astuta que toma sus características particulares como ventajas en su misión. Como apoyo adicional, nos presenta a una pandilla de niños callejeros que resultan entrañables. La violencia extrema está presente, mas nunca se siente gratuita. Y lo que se lleva los aplausos es el arte de Goran Parlov, con un estilo hiper-realista que le va muy bien al personaje. Incluso dibuja a Hit-Girl con una apariencia similar a la de Chlöe Grace Moretz, la actriz que encarnó al personaje en las películas. Quizás mi única queja es que en las portadas le dibuja unos labios muy carnosos al estilo de Manara y definitivamente no me parece bien sexualizar a una niña de menos de 15 años, pero es un detalle conceptual que no disminuye mi disfrute del comic (ni de las mismas portadas, que son grandes ilustraciones). Me encanta que el final rinde un excelente tributo a Kick-Ass de la mejor forma.

Picked this up on a whim, and it's fun but there's not much to it. Nonsense violence for five issues Daniel's writing is decent and Parlov is one of my favorite artists in comics so naturally, I enjoyed his art. My biggest complaint is that the story was so rushed and I have no idea why the minor characters sided so loyalty, blindly to hit-girl it made no sense. Still, this was a quick read that had some thrills despite its weak story.

The problem with most of these Hit-Girl stories so far is that she’s such an overpowered character, she’s able to easily get through any situation she’s put in against any bad guy. This is the first one to actually give her a foe who’s as clever and vicious as she was, putting Hit-Girl in over her head and thus actually making it more interesting as to how she’s going to win. The art is realistic and properly gruesome when the gore happens. The ending is very rushed, but overall, this is probably the best of the series.

A good rebound from the lackluster previous volume. This arc is written by Daniel Way and has an intriguing - plausible in the Hit-Girl world - story that has the reader on the edge of the street. Gordon Parlov’s art perfectly fits the action and world.

Another year older and just as violent, the World Tour stops in Hong Kong
(this is generic, stereotypical HK. No way you can tell where exactly this is)
We're back for more ultraviolence and gunplay. It's starting to feel surreal, the amount of bullets she can dodge and the sheer number of gangsters she can kill.
She's hit the big 1.3. and she's been:
* clamped in a bear trap
* shot multiple times
* stabbed and almost bled out

Boss Liu is nothing but trouble in Hong Kong. Looks like easy work for Hit-Girl. Only problem is that things don't always go the way you plan. Good thing there's so many street kids around with a bone to pick with Boss Liu.

Bonus: Hit-Girl learned Cantonese?! Yea, clearly she used a early version of Google Translate.

As a noir, this is decent. It also illustrates Hit Girl's character fairly well.

As a use of Hong Kong for a setting I thought it was pretty lacking. It feels like there wasn't enough photo reference used so HK in this book looks and feels like a generic version of Gotham. The girl gang was genericized Asian schoolgirl.

I'll give it some points for attempting to use some Chinese names and dialogue, but deduct half of them for not understanding that HK is distinct from the mainland.

If you want ultra-violence and an obsession with an adolescent magical girl (substitute martial arts for the magical abilities), this is for you! Don't expect any specifics about Hong Kong, though.
