This second collection of more than twenty stories of gay fiction from "Christopher Street" magazine highlights works by David Leavitt, John Fox, David Plante, James Purdy, Robert Ferro, and others
This collection of previously published gay fiction covers a range of experiences, some more relatable than others, and some that might feel dated by now. However, the quality of writing holds up and offers a feeling of memories, lost and found, real and imagined.
I really, really wanted to love this book, and I might have liked it better if I'd read it closer to its publication date. Some of the stories were touching, funny, or otherwise satisfying, but not nearly enough to raise my rating above 3, which might actually be a bit generous. And the fact that most if not all were set in New York City gave it a bit of a limited perspective.
