Dan Sugralinov grew up in a small working-class town on the Russian border with Kazakhstan. It’s a miracle he survived his childhood games of hide-and-seek in the surrounding building sites complete with perilous rebar structures and flooded foundation pits.

Ever since he learned to read at the age of five, he couldn’t put a book down. Reluctant to earn himself the name of a conceited nerd, he concentrated on playing soccer which allowed him to become friends with the town’s toughest kids.

In 1995, he graduated with honors, entering the St Petersburg Academy of Engineering and Economics where he studied business creation. He must have done something right because in the years that followed, he first worked on TV and radio just to get the taste of it, then opened his first successful business followed by several more. In between, he started writing and playing video games, winning the St Petersburg Mortal Kombat championship and becoming runner-up for Starcraft and Warcraft 3. He is a 14-times champion in Quake, Quake 2 and Quake 3 as well as the world’s ex-#1 in the World of Warcraft.

In 2004, he wrote his first motivational novella The Bricks which to date has garnered him over 3,000,000 readers online alone.

In 2014, Russia’s leading publishers of business literature Mann, Ivanov & Ferber published a revised and extended edition of his book, The Bricks 2.0.

In 2015, Dan discovered the existence of LitRPG. He devoured everything that had been written in that genre until he finally decided he too could write similar books.

In summer 2017, he published his first book in the subgenre of realRPG: Level Up.

Dan Sugralinov is a consummate gamer, a multiple MMORPG champion and the world’s ex-#1 in the World of Warcraft. He is also a successful businessman and author of books on marketing and business organization. His first LitRPG series Level Up took Russia by storm in 2017. Its English translation is about to be released on Amazon.

Another fine story. Threat level up.

I had an awesome time reading Disgardium 2. Very good translation vith just a few errors. I really enjoyed the fights. The balance between the game and real world was great and flowed well. There are many memorable characters. A whole lot of story was packed in the book with a few well done montages when time passes. I liked the ending which left off at a good spot. The whole threat system adds a cool dynamic and gives a reason for an over powered MC. I definitely recommend the series. This was review round 2. Important safety tip on kindle fire - don't double tap in the text area, it returns to the book (losing the review).

Even better than the first!

Author continues to provide good action/plot/dialogue and world building, both in and outside of the game.

Other characters beside the MC start getting backstory as well and it’s pleasant to see and get that POV.

The end of last chapter seemed a bit rushed and forced a lot of stuff together but that was my only qualm with this book, really looking forward to the next book.

Still good but

I kinda feel a little cheated, probably because I paid the seven dollars for the ebook. I hate cliffhangers. This feels like there could be many books in this series. I do like the story, but some of it feels like filler.

I loved the book, even tho there were certain events which could have been handled different. also after Mc receives this class he's too OP for the game but again it was handled well with the threat system. I m looking forward to the next book.

Good sequel. Once again this felt like a completed book but the ending felt rushed. It transitioned to a tell and not show style to finish the book quickly which is different from the majority of the book. The story was still good. I just wish that I got to see more of the details involved at the end of the book.

Ending was good.

The second book in the series starts out strong and end strong as well. The expansion on threats and how someone becomes a threat is so interesting to read about. Every mission of the MC is interesting to read about. The sleeping gods are quite well done. The part about stupid viallina was funny

As I pinch a lot of pennies by voracious use of KU (sorry authors, but some is better than nothing and my kids have to eat), it is rare these days that I will actually buy books. The fact that I bought this one as the sequel to the first on KU is doubly significant, as generally the Russian writing style isn't quite my speed.

Said style in my evaluation involves a lot of dialogue, much of it the MC's internal thought processes. There are of course elements of this in the Disgardium books, but the author uses it for context rather more compactly than do many of his Russian peers. The development of the game's "Threat" system is very interesting, and I'm interested to see where this goes as the kids break out of the "sandbox".

I little disappointed.

Well, I would like to start off by saying that I had very high expectations for this book. The first one was a smash hit, coming out of nowhere with its awesomeness. The main character and his abilities were rare for the genre and completely unique for his game world. But this book made me upset in small but significant areas.
***Spoilers Ahead***
-This book to me felt different. Like the pacing was much slower and less to the point.
- For some reason, the author decided to nerf the main character by taking away the his unique abilities. Why??? I have no idea.
- It seemed like the mc just had way too much on his plate. And had way to much opposition with no REAL antagonist until the end. And it was completely dealt with in a couple of paragraphs.
All in all, I doubt I will read the next book. What interested me, was taken away because of the characters choices and lack of any ambition.

Decent

3-4 star book but for me personally 2 stars. Good read, was kinda hoping he’d take a different route and wouldn’t get sucked into the glamour of being popular. Also didn’t like how after realizing in the last book that he treated his friend badly that he ended up making the same mistakes again. Maybe would appeal to a younger crowd more and that’s my problem? Or that I prefer more focused, serious protagonists who don’t get caught up in the limelight.

This series is addictive. We have a OP main protagonist and you usually only get two types of stories. You either get the more common protagonist that gets bigger and bigger while the story around him lessons. For example, I would put Ascend Online in this category. Ascend Online book 1 is so freaking good and book 2 is almost as good but still excellent. After that it really loses steam and I attribute a lot of that to the romance element of that book and being really awkward.

The other side of the usual LitRPG OP protagonist is consistantly elevating the stakes. Real stakes too that a reader can believe in. Dungeon Crawler Carl is the master of this right now. Dan does one hell of a job with connecting events to bring the story together later on. This is one of the rare stories where the character outside the game is just as important as the one inside of it. There are real events happening that delay Alex or cause him issues and problems. I particularly like the moments of the Arena and the end. This is a series in which I am very happy to have started to read.

Review for books 1-3

This is an excellent litrpg book. Normally, I dislike the style of litrpg where the MC loads up into a virtual reality and plot also exists in the real world. It normally is quite boring for me because there is no sense of urgency for me as they can always just quit playing or find some other way to make money.

This series however is different. In some ways, there is far more danger in the real world than in Disgardium.

This series is written very well, even better than his other "Level up" series. I honestly forgot that this is a translated novel from Russia, it reads more fluid than most American writers. It kept me in the story and wanting to know what happens next.

I assumed that the third book was the last of a trilogy, but according to the back of the book, there will be 4 more books as well. I can't wait to read the next.

My rating system:
1 star: Utter Trash
2 star: Did not finish
3 star: Ok book, but will not next in series.
4 star: Good book, will read next in series
5 star: Amazing book, can't wait till next book is out!

Combined review for books 1-9 as I read them all before writing the review:

Certainly an interesting setting, both the world outside as well as the game. Sugralinov has setup and interesting and a little frighteningly plausible future where ai and robotics has progressed to the point to make most humans unnecessary. To keep people busy, and give them work, they've created a ubiquitous online game that people are required to play for a certain amount of time each day when their young, and when their older they can earn money through. Most people are just wage slaves though, restricted to pointless mining or other menial jobs. This book focuses on he higher echelons and the MC doing his best to raise the poorer people's standard of living.

A lot of questions are starting to rise about not just the game but the nature of actual reality as some things seem to bleed through. There's a bit of SOMA happening at one point too. All and all very engaging and I can't wait for more.

The game rules in Disgardium can't be forgiven.

MC is framed by false testimony. There is no murder weapon. No motive. In fact MC is 'Affectionate' rep with the NPC that got murdered.

In a mandatory, state-sanctioned game a minor is bound, gagged, imprisoned, given a farcical trial. Sent off to an even worse prison to fight other prisoners to the death. All losers have their characters perma deleted. All based on a "Yah uhh, that guy killed the NPC."

So what. There's non-stop ganking, camping, spawn camping, looting, harassing, griefing. NPCs don't even respawn. Patrick is an exception because reasons you'll find out.

It's too much to ask the reader to suspend disbelief on. A decades old VRMMO with this kind of loophole?

You could just stand next to NPCs in town and kill them when anyone walked up to interact. Then frame them. It would be the ultimatete griefing and the towns would be tumbleweeds.

So stupid.

Even Better Than The First
This book surpassed my expectations by a lot. I didn't really know what to expect after finishing the first book. I was hoping for something better than the first book and that's what I got. I loved that this book spent less time in the real world and was almost completely spent in Disgardium. I loved the well paced plot and was immediately into the story.
I was glad that the author finally decided to get rid of the Mark of the Destroying Plague skill. I knew that the author used it to level up the character so that the book was still interesting, but I though it was a little OP(overpowered). I loved that there weren't to many quests unlike other litrpgs, and in the end he had managed to complete almost all of them.
I can't wait for the next book!

I received a review copy of this book
If you haven't read the first book in the series, you'll probably want to do that before diving into this one. You can still enjoy this book without having read the first one, but things will make a lot more sense if you read it first though.
This part of the story revealed most items that remained questions in book 1, and exposed all kinds of new toys that made the story more interesting, and I'm sure will show up in future books in the series as well. Good character progression, and even some butting heads over possible relationships, it will definitely be interesting to see where the story goes in future books.
I enjoyed this book, and I suspect most LitRPG fans will as well.

Series is getting better!

I love it when a series gets better as you progress! Enjoyable story and the audio book is above average and also good.

My only nitpicks for this book were occasionally the author would have the MC do something that was just...so stupid. Each time it worked out find and ended up not ending in cliche tragedy, but I ground my teeth lol.

One of the best parts of the first two books is that the author doesnt telegraph the story, so you really arent sure how a scene is going to end. Very enjoyable to NOT know what's coming.

Enjoyed this second entry to the series VERY much. The progression of the protagonist and his development within the game world as well as the relatable real world aspects really bring the story a level of depth that is missing from some other LitRPG series I've read. Standard Russian approach where a bug is exploited, but done in a believable manner that yields the main character's perspective and thoughts process makes this story extremely entertaining. I plan to continue the experience with the next book!

Yeah a continuation of another Russian novel where the main character is OP and whatever he does comes up in aces.

Moving away from the first novel and a completely different concept. This new novel seems to follow tried and true Russian LITRPG mechanics. With subpar quests tons of item windows and a lot of narration about events in a third person perspective, this novel is a slight letdown.

LITRPG AT IT’S BEST

The russians have got it. this is yet another well written, highly entertaining series from russia with love.
And every book is more than 500 pages. More and more I see books of 300-320 pages and that is just plain out irritating.
well forgive little rant. Grab the first book in this series and prepare yourselves for the nice realization that you have picked a winner.

I'm liking this series. Too bad it can't be a real world the protagonist lives in, instead of a video game.

I don't know how, but I want to read the sequel. The "in a game" isn't annoying me like when other authors do it. maybe those authors try to show too much that it's a game?

I wonder if the author watched One Punch Man. These "class threats are something else...

Good read

I like the characters and the story. Some of the interludes get a little tedious, I generally want to get back to the main story, but they do add to the universe. The story would still be good but it adds something to it. I can't quite explain it. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Book two

Mistakes: I actually lost track of the number of mistakes, but it’s a lot.

Plot: Lots of fighting and dungeons. Plenty of loot.

Characters: A few possibilities for a love interest are introduced. The group grows very nicely.

There is some enamoring about the characters written in this book. You are rooting for them and feel really bad when they are having big issues. Play to win, and you can even help others along the way.

Loving this series

If you ever played WoW so much you dreamed of immersing in it….then you need to read this. I used to have dreams on par with this series and it’s so fun.

There’s drama, gaming, IRL drama and issues. World building, character building, and game building.
