Unlike the first three books, this story lacked the perfect balance of comedy and drama; this time, it was more straight drama. I was unable to relate to this issue this time around, so a lot of the emotion was lost on me.

This is seriously becoming one of my favourite series ever, usually books are a solid 5 or 4 stars for me because the way they portray different teenage situations and emotions are so well done, and this one also has some important things and the themes around sisterly love-hate relationships are very well done, but contrary to the others, Nodoka kinda makes it hard to read. She is an extremely annoying character and it affected my reading. I’m very used to characters like Mai and Rio who are surprisingly mature, or characters like Koba and Kaede who still are immature and act more like kids but they don’t come off as strong and needy as Nodoka did.
I really wanted to slap this girl more than once because she just spent her time complaining like a five year old that doesn’t get her way. But I understand where she is coming from and all her frustration, while understandable, it wasn’t exactly acceptable. This different Adolescence Syndrome was interesting because we’re implying now that it doesn’t only affect the person with overwhelming emotions, but it also also affects those near them, and that’s an interesting concept, it ties nicely with the fact that you can truly affect others with your emotions, in here we’re seeing actual physical consequences. And now I’m scared to go into the next book because I know what’s coming. I saw the anime already, I already cried, and I’m so not ready for the next book.

Good book, even though the comedy part or scene is not a lot compared to the other book of this series I've read.

Once again, another smash hit in the Rascal Does Not Dream series!

I've seen a few people argue that this is the weakest entry in the series, and while I can't necessarily say I disagree with that assertion, I ultimately believe that it doesn't really matter. This was another excellent novel, it didn't hit me as much as the previous entries (at least until the end anyway, though I knew I was going to cry during that scene, it always reduces me to tears whenever I watch the anime) it was still amazing all the way through!

There aren't as many differences between this and the anime for the most part. Most of the elements cut out from the anime seemed to just add more context or lengthen certain scenes, so it made sense to reduce them like they did. The only real differences I noticed were some elements at the end of the book and Nodaka's relationship with Sakuta. Outside of that, the anime and the light novel are nearly identical, which decently surprised me.

This arc is probably my favorite in the anime, next to Keade's, and I loved experiencing it again. I'm looking forward to being absolutely obliterated when I read the next book. Let's go baby!

*Listened to the audiobook.

Another fun story with. This time Sakuta has to deal with a body switch. While the base for the plot in these books are not terribly original they are handled with care. The characters are likeable and their stories are believable and relatable. The author also gives a good amount of time for each character so they feel fleshed out. The relationship about Mai and her half-sister was well done and sweet. As I've come to expect, we get another cliffhanger so on to book 5 I go.

I really don’t know how to give this book, it wasn’t that entertaining compared to the others I really liked from this series. This adolescence syndrome was very predictable from the beginning, so it didn’t surprise me or make me feel like I couldn’t put the book down type. I was about to give this a 2 stars, but a 3 star is what I ended wanting to give it when the resolution happened.

More of the same quality. I can say that I am a fan of this series and I like the books more than the anime. But this is my least favorite girl thus far. She is very much a tsundere trope and it's a trope that I'm not at all interested in. Still the main character keeps me coming back. More on him next time.

It occurs to me I'm basically reading a family drama - divorces, neglected children, child star exploitation, sibling rivalry.

Terribly witty. The sister with the sister complex was less than endearing, but I found that I didn’t care. The dialogue was too entertaining.

I love this series. That being said this is probably my least favorite story arc. Nodoka is just so annoying. But even then the series is great. Even with the preternatural aspects of adolescence syndrome that the series has -- it balances talking about serious issues while still being fun, silly, cute, a bit crass, and entertaining as all get out. This one takes a look at jealousy, and expctations (both from yourself and from parents). And of course the continuing relationship of Mai and Sakuta.

I am, as always, looking forward to the next one.

Siscon Idol is often considered one of weaker arcs in the Seishun Buta Yarou anime. While not necessarily untrue, I do think this storyline is better served in narrative format with some real tearjerker moments near the end.

Next is the Kaede arc. I'm not ready 😢
