This is a story of the changes in the West Coast music scene during a turbulent time in our Civil unrest, the Vietnam war, student activism, political assassinations, and the Manson Murders all happened while I was at UCLA. Music was my escape and the Doors, Buffalo Springfield, the Byrds, Janis Joplin, etc. were part of my life. I was fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time and I have a treasure trove of fond memories and compelling tales to show for it. The music was like a blanket that wrapped around your life. This book captures the feeling of those times.
This book makes me horribly jealous. I was a little younger, and many miles distant, and I would have given anything to have walked where Don walked, seen what Don saw and, more than anything else, heard what Don heard. Very groovy stuff.
