Joan of Arc: A Captivating Guide to a Heroine of France and Her Role During the Lancastrian Phase of the Hundred Years’ War

Rate this book
If you want to discover the captivating history of Joan of Arc, then keep reading... Free History BONUS Inside! Joan's story almost feels like a novel instead of a part of history. She was a shining savior on a warhorse, waving her white banner and calling her soldiers forth to victory; but she was also painfully and intensely human, a young girl who wept and bled just the same as the rest of us. In the same breath, it is as easy to relate to Joan as it is to be awed by her incredible character. She may have been beatified as a saint, but Joan of Arc was in many ways a very ordinary human being, a person who felt pain and fear, a person who made mistakes and who had moments of weakness. This book follows her through her extraordinary journey. Feel her terror as she first experienced her visions. See her determination as she convinced a cynical captain to grant her passage to the Dauphin. Experience her exhilaration and faith as she led the French army to victory after victory. Weep alongside her as the King of France betrayed her. Suffer with her during her long imprisonment in the hands of her enemies. And cry with the witnesses who saw her burn for a crime she did not commit. She was Joan of Arc, a person whose life remains wreathed in mystery, but nonetheless a fascinating adventure. And this is her story. In Joan of A Captivating Guide to a Heroine of France and Her Role During the Lancastrian Phase of the Hundred Years’ War, you will discover topics such as The Unending WarA Whispered ProphecyThe First VisionThe Doubt of BaudricourtA Prediction of DefeatAn Audience with the KingThe Road to OrléansArrival at OrléansFlying the White BannerA Sign ProvidedThe Battle of PatayBeans for the ApocalypseThe French King CrownedThe Siege of ParisPeaceCaptureCaptiveA Saint Tried for HeresyThe Burning of Jeanne d'ArcAnd much, much more!So if you want to learn more about Joan of Arc, scroll up and click the "add to cart" button!

This book sets the stage for this remarkable story by explaining that Joan was an uneducated peasant girl, the lowest class of humanity in France at the time. Her story begins in the Lancastrian War (1415 - 1453) of the Hundred Year's War. This was the final era, when Henry V of England invaded Normandy until the English were defeated in Aquitaine.

Joan is the patron saint of France because of her role in the siege of Orleans. She also was instrumental in the coronation of Charles VII and French king during these troubled times. Joan claimed to be acting under divine guidance by the visions from the archangel Michael, Saint Catherine and Saint Margaret. She was the guiding force behind the French troops saving their country from English domination.

Rarely do I mention the narrator, but this time I feel compelled to mention Randy Whitlow. He did a superb job (with some excellent material) by his enthusiastic reading. I felt like a participant, not just a reader. I will be looking for more books with this narrator.

Immersive and lucid - packed with action in middle chapters

The story was very clear and without a doubt Joan of Arc is a great heroine of the time. Felt rushed in middle chapters and a little towards the end. Every detail of her life and lifestyle is well captured, however the trail needs to be more clear it lacked details. But again the author did a fine work in projecting Saint Joan's sacrifice and her bold attitude. Perhaps a detailed map would be of great help. Wonderful quick peek into Saint Joan's life.

CAPTIVATING HAGIOLOGY

The tale is told of a devout French girl who follows an ancient promise and spiritual voices during a later phase of The Hundred Years’ War as a saviour, martyr and saint. Best read uncritically as a life of a Catholic saint, the story cannot be called history, although it covers in.chronological detail the events involved.

Loved it!

I've always been a fan of Joan and the story surrounding her. While this didn't teach me a thing new i think this is a good starting point for anyone interested in her life.

A perfect little book on the pride of France, the mystery of the enemy, and the sorceress of all the saints. Long live Joan of Arc and may your wind-battered banner be lifted high.

Reads like a novel

Here in a short two books you get a synopsis of a period in history that could have changed the world. Well written and full of facts, pictures and easy to read. I could have used some maps. I highly recommend as an introduction to an important period of history that is fun to read
