A nine-foot-tall alien warrior just kidnapped me.How's your day going?Diana is a survivor. It's all she knows. But she has big plans once she escapes the dangerous outpost where she's been stranded for the last ten years. Plans that involve buying a ship of her very own and traveling to a sparsely populated planet to live out the rest of her days in the sun. No more crowds, no more recirculated air, and no more cage fights. She certainly doesn't plan on being "rescued" by a sexy alien giant with glowing green eyes who wants to make babies with her.Kirn is enchanted by the fierce little human he's stolen away from the outpost. Ah, what a beauty she is--and strong. She resists his advances at first, but he's confident she will agree to become his mate soon. He's a highly respected Vaxxlian warrior. How could she not want him? Mindful of his enormous size, he promises to be as gentle as possible when he finally mates with her. But as he's about to discover, claiming a human female never goes as planned.
Sue Mercury writes sci-fi romance. She lives in Maryland with her husband and children, where she hopes one day she'll turn on the television to find a breaking news report about sentient alien beings contacting Earth. She also writes romance of the much kinkier variety under the name Sue Lyndon.

2.75 🌟🌟🌟 – Sweet and undemanding, the physicality of the giant was a bit jarring and pulled you out of the story, he was just too BIG to make the relationship seem viable. Same pedestrian prose and slim plot/characterisation issues as the previous two instalments, A quick read, especially for those sci-fi challenges
Disclaimer I only read this book and the rest of the series to fulfil a challenge as the kidnapped by Aliens trope isn't really a favourite of mine and I don't read too many in the genre, so I'm not particularly disposed to rate books from this sub-genre high.
This is the third instalment from the Vaxxlian Mates series by Sue Mercury. Although this novella had a similar page length (99 pages) to the second book Alien Healer, it didn't really have the same level of characterisation and plot development and is the weakest of the first three books.
I actually read the first two books so I could get to this one to fulfil a 'Giant' read for a challenge. I liked the depiction of the alien male as a 'gentle giant', but the way the female protagonist Diana capitulated in an almost 180 to a completely different way of life from being a warrior cage fighter to mate intent on making babies and not having to work was a bit jarring and made my feminist sensibilities wilt and sigh. Again props to the author for not having the male alien force his attentions on his mate in any way, though I guess all three novels are a great example of Stockholm syndrome in action.
The writing style is very pedestrian, more so than book two and I was able to finish the book in under an hour. If you're looking for a sweet, undemanding alien romance that you probably are unlikely to remember that long after you read it, but will meet a challenge role and engage you for an hour, then this book and the others in the series are probably a good bet.
Kindle Unlimited. Recommended as Filler only. Not as titillating as one might assume.
Sweet story. 3rd in series. Heroine is stranded on a seedy space station supporting herself as a cage-fighter. Hero is from a race of aliens who have had their home planet decimated by war. They lost the majority of their women. Humans are a compatible species.
Instalove on Hero’s side. I just keep thinking “sweet” in a young-adult kind of way - but not actually YA due to the use of the word “cock”. HFN ending
I’m normally very against alien abduction romance, unless the abductee is given free choice at some stage, maybe not right away but damn soon after. This one came really close to DNF for me because it starts out with the h getting abducted but it’s actually for her own good and oh when she thinks about it she didn’t really want to be alone forever...ugh. BUT Kirn as an absolute sweetheart and she would probably have been given her freedom if she’d insisted (I think and hope). So I’m giving this 3,5 and reading more with a lot of hope.
This was a great story featuring some sort of instalove, a giant, and a fighter.
Diana is a cage fighter who has been trapped on a terrible outpost for years. Fighting was the only way she could survive. But when Kirn, a 9 foot tall giant, jumps into her fight to protect her, she's more than just a little frustrated. When he tells her that she's his mate, she starts planning her escape.
I love how Kirn really pays attention to Diana and makes her his total focus and when she talks to him about things, he truly listens to her and trusts her. It's pretty awesome.
This was a hot and sexy short story. I would have given 5 stars if only there was more to it to read. Great characters and really good story that so much more could have been made of. There was a lot of scope for the author to really expand on the story and make this a full length book but instead its a hot heavy get to the "climax" short story. A good idea for the work commute - I finished in under 2 hrs.
This was a short but very good story. I kind of liked that Diane was a cage fighter and that as soon as Kirn saw her, he knew she was his. I don't read many sci-fi stories but Ms. Mercury always writes really good ones.
I believe this is my first time trying these authors. It was definitely the first time I tried this series. But since it was a standalone, that was fine. I was still able to follow along with the story perfectly fine. The alien hero was attractive sounding and he came across as extremely sweet and gentle. The heroine was a cage fighter and apparently good at that. The story was middle of the road and not emotionally moving or memorable necessarily. I found that more of her actual fighting skills should have been show cases and when it got repetitive and they ended up together back in the cage, instead of the beasts it should have been other aliens. When his two brothers showed up instead of all of a sudden weak femaling her and holding her back, there should have been a scene where they also got to see her fight and were impressed. So glad she did not fight being his mate severely. And SOOO glad there was no forced sex or ‘punishment’ scenes. That is overly played out in SFR and needs a rest.
This is an OK sci-fi alien romance, but it is just a bit too short to have enough character development. There was quite a bit of background on Diana, but I really needed more back story on Kirn. It would have really helped me to enjoy the story more.
I also thought it was a bit unlikely that Diana would have fallen for Kirn as quickly as she did. She would have been furious that he kidnapped her, and angry about his declarations that she was his mate. So the romance was pretty unbelievable to me. I also thought some of the sex descriptions were pretty stupid -- if he was truly nine feet tall, some of what they did would have been physically impossible.
One thing that really bothers me about all the books in this series, though, is the idea that the Vaxxlians have that it is OK to take a woman against her will. Some of the books even describe Vaxxlian men arriving home with their "mates" kicking and screaming. That doesn't sound like a mate to me -- move like a slave. It doesn't matter how good the woman is treated. If she is there against her will, she is a slave.
If you are looking for a really quick sci-fi alien romance, with some steamy scenes -- and don't mind a lack of character development, and talk of women being taken as mates without their consent, this is an OK choice.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Wow! The stories in this series do NOT disappoint! Kirn is 9 ft. tall, a highly regarded Vaxxlian warrior, fierce, and a HOT, Sexy body. Diana is a very capable fighter, strong and has the spirit and bravery of great warriors. Kirn is totally in awe of this little human and wants to protect her, take her as his mate and keep her safe. Oops, the problem with his plan is that Diana has been surviving on this outpost planet where she has been trapped for 10 years, on her own and has her own escape plan. LOL Sue Lyndon is an amazing writer. Her stories are well written and her characters have depth. She shows us how gentle, kind and caring Kirn is when considering Diana and her feelings and fears. He is very understanding and approaches her with care that is so touching. I love reading about this couple and how they help each other heal. Kirn vows to protect, care and provide for his mate - Diana but also, he is a fierce, rampaging Giant if his mate is in trouble. In the Vaxxlian Mates, Kirn is brother 3 of 5 Vaxxlian brothers that we have met so far. Deza and Stax (brothers #1 and #2) and their mates make an appearance in this story and we learn more about them and realize there is more to come. The epilogue gives us a nice glimpse of future stories. Thank you, Sue Lyndon
Alien Giant is the third book in the Vaxxlian Mates series. Diana is just a couple of cage fights away from winning her freedom, but right in the middle of her latest match, the largest alien she’s ever seen breaks in and steals her away. Kirn knows that as soon as he sees the fighting human, she’s meant to be his mate, but can he convince her to stay with him and will her past leave her alone?
I really enjoyed reading this book! Diana and Kirn were full of building trust, building a relationship, and building love! Even though this is the third book in the series, you don’t need to have read the previous books to understand what was going on with this book. Diana was so brave and full of partial dreams, just wanting her freedom from fighting and killing, and I loved that her time in the cage fights never jaded her heart. I loved Kirn, though! He was such a gentle giant, just wanting to settle down and enjoy time spent with his mate! I loved how he had this drive to protect his mate, wanting to keep her happy and safe! Together, they made a great team, and I loved how they fought together to overcome her past! This book made me feel so happy and content while reading it and I just really loved these two characters!
What would you do if you saw a nine foot tall alien? Diana has been a survivor all her life and she knows that she has to plan an escape to get off the outpost as she has been trapped there for nearly a decade but who would ever have thought that it would be a nine-foot alien that enabled her to escape from the outpost. Kirn is totally in awe of the inly little human that has the spirit and the bravery of one of the greatest warriors he could ever have known, he is totally enamoured with the female and is determined to make her his own unfortunately she is not as accommodating and has a very different idea where her life is going. The fact that he is a highly regarded Vaxxlian warrior, he’s a well-respected why is this tiny human female so unimpressed? He desires her and wants to make her his, keep her safe however he is about to human show her just how much she rocks his world!! I voluntarily received and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
This review contains spoilers. This is story about Diana who has had a difficult life, but she is a survivor. Faced with either being a prostitute or a cage fighter in order to exist on the outpost where she is stranded, she chooses cage fighter and becomes quite successful at it. She is frugally saving up credits she earns by fighting so she can move to a beautiful and peaceful planet. As she is once again about to defeat another opponent, Kirn, the alien giant, appears to rescue her thinking her life is in danger. He also claims her as his mate. She of course is furious at first since she does not need to be rescued, and feels she is being kidnapped instead. She quickly warms to the handsome kind giant, and begins to think that maybe she would like to be his mate. Just when she agrees to that, they are both captured by bounty hunters hired by the man she used to cage fight for. The story is quite exciting from this point on as the two new lovers fight for their lives and their freedom.

Gentle Giant looking for a mate & ultimately love I'm really liking the Vaxxlian Mate stories. The men are so wonderful & caring. Not to mention a vibrating tongue. Oh, boy! After being stranded on an outpost planet 10 years ago, Diana cage fights to hopefully be able to gain her freedom one day. It was either that or work in the brothels. She'd much rather fight to the death than that. Kirn is a Vaxxlian warrior searching for a human female mate when one of the detection probes alerts him to her presence. Kirn 'saves' Diana from the cage fight but to his dismay she does not go so easily. Once things settle down Diana can't believe how safe she feels with Kirn even though he keeps calling her his mate as they barely know each other. This is a romantic story of the two finding something to fight for...peace, safety and love.
Not only is Diana not a damsel in distress, this woman has a plan. She doesn’t need rescuing, by anyone, because she is doing what it takes to take care of herself, and has been for a decade. Imagine the eye opening experience when Kirn appears, and not only decides she needs rescuing, but throws her plan out the window, and carts her off to a place that sounds too good to be true. It supposedly has great weather, sunshine, and people who will stand by you, and fight for you!!
I loved reading a story about a woman who had no idea the shape she was in, until someone offered to help carry her load... and kept their promises. Kirn’s sincerity, and genuine desire to protect, here and now, was heart warming and underscored the many ways in which the Universe had wronged Diana.
Diana was use to fighting all her life. She never wanted to kill anyone but very few males would shout “mercy.” She just wanted to leave where she was and move onto a better life. Kirn saw Diana and knew she was to be his mate. He had to save her. He had to take her to New Vaxx with his brothers and their mates.
You have to love Kirn. He may be a GIANT alien but he is so very sweet and gentle as well as very protective. Who wouldn’t want an alien like that? I love that he had patients and took his time with Diana. She wasn’t so sure of all the matting he was talking about but she warmed up to him. She also finally felt at peace and happy. Another loving story. We still have some brothers out there looking for love.
I enjoy these quick Vaxxlian Mate stories. Brother 3 of 5 rescues a human female from a dangerous outpost where she cage fights for a living. Vowing to protect, care, and provide for her as his mate, Kirn strives to give his "little human" (5'11") what she desires the most - sunshine and New Vaxx has plenty of it. Kirn is definitely a gentle giant when it comes to dealing with Diana but dang, is he an rampaging giant if his chosen mate is in trouble. Deza and Stax (brothers #1 and #2) along with their mates make an appearance and show us a little more story to the family dynamic. A nice epilogue gives us a little insight to our couples futures.
Overall, it's a great little lunchtime or evening read - not too deep or intense and rather sweet.
Diana was orphaned on the Meccaman outpost when she was 12. There are not many ways for a female to earn a living there since she chose to become a cage fighter instead of working at the brothel. She became the best! Kirn is a warrior whose planet was destroyed and only the warriors away from home survived! They found and rebuilt on another planet, but needed females to mate and have families with. Each head out to find human females, Kirn finds his in the form of Diana on the outpost and thinks he is saving her,she thinks differently! He is a gentle giant and needs to convince her that they are right for each other! This was a great read!

Diana earned a living as a cage fighter until she is kidnapped by a nine foot alien. When her father died Diana was just twelve leaving her on her own at the Meccaman Outpost. She had been given a room and had earned her keep cleaning the Arena and scrubbing up the blood after the cage fights but as she grew she realized that her options were limited to work in the brothels or take part in the cage fights so she had chosen the later. Now with many wins under her belt she is starting to think of a future. Then as she is beating her latest opponent a nine foot giant breaks into the cage to ave her and make her his mate. An exciting alien romance to relax and enjoy.

Diana has been in the fighting ring on an Outpost in order to earn enough credits to leave. She has been stuck there since she was twelve and almost has enough money. When all of the sudden a giant of a man/alien tears open the cage and takes her out. She is not happy being kidnapped when she has worked hard to make her own escape. Kirn has been searching for a human mate when he hears about one on an Outpost. He thinks that he is rescuing her but she has other ideas. Can they get along and truly become mates? What happens when the Outpost owner sends bounty hunters after them? I liked this short story in the Vaxxlian world. We get a glimpse of characters from the previous two books which I love.
An action packer story, touching in it's sincerity and honest in it's emotions. by sewsummore
When given the chance to choose between working in a brothel or becoming a cage fighter, the answer was clear and she trained to be a fighter. Kirn rescued her from the cage thinking he was her savior only to find she didn't need a rescue. From this unlikely beginning a love grew and flourished until she was glad to stay and be his mate. This was a fast action packed story, touching in it's sincerity and honest in it's emotions. I liked this book, there was humor and passion to tempt and tease the reader, an enjoyable read
I love this series! I can't wait to read the next one.
Diana is a cage fighter who is saving money to try and get away. During one fight an alien steals her away. Kirn is a Vaxxlian who believes that he is saving his mate. Kirn and Diana are both looking for a peaceful life after their bout with death. Kirn is also over 9 feet tall so he makes sure to treat her gently. Diana is looking for to her new life as is Kirn. Before they can start it, they are kidnapped. Will they be able to escape so they can start their life on New Vaxx?

Sue Mercury gives us a sweet story of Kirn and Diana.
Diana is a human was is stuck at an outpost and cage fights for survival. Kirn is a Vaxxlian who wants a mate. When he discovers that Diana is stuck on the outpost he is determined to save her not realizing that she does not need saving.
This story was a little too sugary sweet for me me in the beginning. Once you get about a 1/4 of the way through we start to see some great character development that adds a ton of depth to each character. I am glad that I kept reading as the relationship between Kirn and Diana is a super sweet and caring one.
Diana might not love the life she's living, but she's got plans for a better future and that future is almost within her grasp. Enter Kirn... He sees this small female and decides that not only does she need saving, he's the one to do it. One of my favorite things about this story is the way that Diana is the strong, stubborn, broken one and Kirn is the gentle, loving, patient one. He is more than ready to devote his whole world to loving her, but she has a lot of walls put up to protect her. They are going to have to break down those walls to reach their HEA, and what neither of them know is that the past is trying to catch up to them in a not so pleasant way.
This is the third book in the Vaxxlian Mates series. Although the books are short they are packed with action! Kirn has been searching for a human mate and he finds and rescues Diana from an outpost where she has been surviving by cage fighting. Diana is strong an sassy, perfect for a 9" foot giant alien. Kirn may be big and brawn but he is a giant softie! After being tracked and taken back to the outpost, they are forced to fight again luckily Kirn's brothers appear and they all end up safe on New Vaxx. I am looking forward to further books about Kirns brothers.
There was a lot to like about this book. It is short but the storyline was fun, the characters likable and the chemistry steamy. I thought Diana and Kirn's story was quite charming. Diana, was no passive heroine. She was strong, smart, determined and a fighter. Kirn was a study in contrasts. He was a powerful warrior, big and strong but I thought that there was a whole lot of sweetness, wonder and an almost "air of innocence" about him. I really, really liked this couple and wish that their romance had been longer and more detailed. This is my honest, voluntary review.
A fantastic sweet short story. Kirn rescued Diana from a cage fight. He wants her as his mate. Diana is angry that the giant alien kidnapped her in the middle of a fight she was winning. She has been saving credits to get off the planet. Kirn is surprised that Diana was fighting by choice and not forced. As Diana gets to know Kirn, she realized how lonely she is. The giant alien is sweet and wants to take care of her. Then danger strikes. What will happen now?

Diana has been a cage fighter for ten long years. She craves sunshine and quiet. In the middle of a fight, a huge giant alien appears with his hand out to her. At first, she resists him. But Kirn wins her over. They have to cage fight together until his brothers redid them. By then, Diana and Kirn have exchanged their vows. This is a beautiful love story for adults only. She Mercury writes exciting, thrilling love stories. Each one is as beautiful as the last one and never disappointing.
The hero, an Alpha who is a gentleman and a fierce warrior. The heroine is no wilting violet and a fierce warrior herself. Still she secretly yearns for a family of her own after losing everyone and everything at just 11 yrs of age..... fighting to survive. Then her impossible heart's desire comes barreling in to make that dream come true and more. I just absolutely loved this story. Love a strong heroin and love a true gentleman alpha. No macho beating his chest here. What a relief!
This was a nice, fairly quick read. I've read this author before and I always enjoy the stories and worlds she creates.
Her heroines are usually pretty strong and independent. And her heroes are usually big and strong. Tho this hero is definitely a huge one! 9 feet tall! I'm not going to lie I sometimes had to stop and think of the 2 characters height difference! Lol
Overall tho if you like aliens, and romance, thrown in with a bit of adventure. Then this is the book for you!
