Everyone loves chibi, the newest, hottest manga style out of Asia. Chibis—characters that range from hypercute miniature people to bizarrely sexy furry characters—come in all varieties, all roles, including chibi teenagers, faeries, schoolgirls, nurses, mermaids, devils, angels, and everything in between. Now Christopher Hart, the world's best-selling author of cartoon and drawing titles, shows readers exactly how to draw chibis, infusing them with personality and creating authentic costumes for them. Cute chibi-style monsters (small yet powerful), appealing cat-girls (humanlike, but with feline traits), superdeformed manga/chibi characters (used to make funny wisecracks)—every type of chibi character is shown here in crystal clear, step-by-step drawings. Manga Mania Chibi and Furry Characters will get every manga fan in on the chibi fun.

I started drawing character designs and storyboards for a small animation studio in while in High School. Cartooning and animation was a magical experience to me. I try to bring that experience, as well as art tips, to my readers. Their enthusiasm also motivates me.
Early in my career, my cartoon work got noticed by Watson-Guptill, a premier publisher of art books. They asked me to do a book for them on drawing cartoons. It sold 200,000 copies, which is a healthy number. So we kept going. I discovered that I enjoyed the art of creating books, which has its own special requirements. I also worked as an author for Random House, Quarto and Soho Publishing. In total, I have had 8 million books sold, and have been translated into 20 languages.
My book, "The Master Guide to Drawing Anime: How to Draw Original Characters from Simple Templates" has sold over half a million copies to date and is still very actively in print. An earlier book of mine, "Manga Mania: How to Draw Japanese Comics:" reached the number one art book in the country, according to Bookscan.
I've also been a cover story on the industry trade magazine, "Publisher's Weekly." And if you've read this far into my Bio, then I'm more impressed with you than you are with me!
Thank you so very much for letting me offer some inspiration to you in your art adventures.
I have this book and I absolutely love it!!!! I'm always looking thur it and finding new ways to draw poses an characters of my own!!! I would totally recommend this book if u want to learn to draw Chibi!!!
I got this for my birthday at least six years ago. Thank god the Dutch version didn't have furries in the name ;). I enjoyed drawing from this even though the illustrations aren't that good.
Since this isn't really a story book, I'm not sure what to say about it. Oh wait, yes I do. I liked the instructions that the author gave me, but I wish that somebody would write a book on how to draw other animal people, like lizards, or water creatures. Hurry up and do that, somebody! (I can't do it 'cause I'm not good enough yet.)
Not a great artist but I like to draw chibi characters to relax. This book was great for beginners and more advanced artists. It walks you through many aspects of style and technique. I only wish that some of the advanced poses had an extra step shown for some of the chibis.
this book is more about: learning it. I'm an autodicactic learner/paintist and this book helps me to learn the anatomy of the chibis better, despite my previous tries that seemed to 'work'.
This didn't really help me with what I was trying to learn how to draw, but it is a very well done book. And it did give me a few good tips and reference points.
