3.25 RATING- my rating reflects more how I liked (or didn't like) the book than the overall quality. The writing was fine, editing was fine. I just didn't like the story enough to rate it higher. IDK. I can't put my finger on one thing to complain about. Overall it felt a bit weird, sometimes creepy, and it didn't feel romantic to me although there was a romance. I'm guessing other readers may enjoy more but based off this book I don't have plans to read the next in the series.

I made it about 25% before giving up on this one. I didn't care for either main character, but especially Teige, who is a world class asshole. Kayla was a but a bit better, I even liked her until she went off on the US Marshall that was watching over her. It was then that any sympathy I had for her went out the window. I didn't care to find out why her sister wants to kill her or how she and Teige end up together. In the end this one wasn't for me.

Having thoroughly enjoyed Stephanie Tyler's Eternal Wolf Clan series, I thought I'd check out her new romantic suspense series Mirror. I wasn't expecting any sort of paranormal element, so I was happily surprised to find a touch of the supernatural - twin links, a tarot reader, a FBI agent with "the sight" and a watchful ghost.

The story told in this installment involves a woman on the run, currently in WITSEC; the Marshal charged with monitoring her; and the Marshal's brother, former Army MSgt/current merc-for-hire. Each of whom had a violent past and now work together to end the terror Kayla's been hiding from since childhood.
"We all get lost sometimes. Even you who can see well in the dark. Just because you can see doesn't mean you know where you're going."
There were parts of the story that didn't flow well for me and a few minor errors overlooked during editing, but overall I enjoyed the story and the characters.

The next installment, Rule of Thirds, tells Jacoby Razwell's story. We learned very little about Jacoby in this installment, but what we did learn has my curiosity piqued enough to continue on with the series. I'm looking forward to learning more about the man described as "a grifter, a vic and an FBI agent in WITSEC ... He's also the brother of a serial killer."

As a fan of Ms. Tyler's, I found this book to be a great dark and thrilling introduction to a new series that blends her Shadow Force novels and Skull Creek series into one heart-pounding read.

Heather's Notes
This book was good and bad. The beginning was confusing and didn't make sense. And at the end, the author kept switching from an intense, dangerous scene with a secondary character, to the hero and heroine having sex. It was weird and broke the mood. Then the ending was also kind of anti-climatic. I got confused about what really happened and what was Mara's version of events. It is never really explained what Claire/Kayla really remembers. And then Mara just threw herself into the fire. The scars were never fully explained. Still the story was good overall. The build up and they way the couple got together was well written. Just the beginning and ending had issues.

I would have rated this story higher except for a couple of things. The psychic Ethan seemed out of place. And the sex seemed out of place. At first it was them getting their relationship going but then it just seemed like an addon.

This was a really great dark thriller by Stephanie. I absolutely loved main characters Tiege Junos and Kayla Peters and I also liked the secondary characters who I'm sure will be featured in the next books in this series.

Mirror Me is the story of Kayla Peters who is in the Witness Protection Program because of her serial killing twin sister. Kayla is desperate for a normal life but knows there is no way to get one until her sister is caught. Abby Daniels, the US Marshall charged with protecting Kayla decided to set her up in a rental house in Abby’s home town. A small town mostly retired military and their families. A rental house that just happens to be located next to her retired Delta Force brother Teige Junos.

Abby and Teige intrigue each other and after one hot kiss, Teige can’t get Abby out of his head but a killer is coming and Teige’s instincts to protect kick in. Teige, Abby and her new partner, Jacoby Razwell, work together to keep Kayla safe and stop a killer from killing again. It is a roller-coaster ride you do not want to miss.

Abby and Teige are basically the main characters but stories for Abby and Jacoby start in this book and finish in the next two. All of these characters are well developed and I absolutely loved each one of them.

Stephanie Tyler is off to a great start in her new Mirror series with book 1, Mirror Me. The story was very engaging and fast paced keeping me turning page after page so I found it hard to put down. Her main characters, Kayla and Teige, come with dark pasts and struggles they both need to deal with and overcome. The author does a great job developing both of these characters along with some secondary characters that will have their own stories in upcoming books. This book contains it all- great romance, murder, military hero, woman-on-the-run, and even a slight paranormal element. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who likes a great romantic thriller. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Loved this suspenseful, mysterious, hot, romantic, fast paced, page turning thriller! This series is off to a fantastic start. I love a book with a hot, alpha, former military hero and a strong, independent woman in danger and Teige and Kayla definitely fit the bill. Loved these two together and they definitely have sizzling chemistry. I love Stephanie Tyler's books and cannot wait to read the next book in the series. If you like romantic suspense this book is definitely for you.
